    Beautiful work! The best tip was painting the dark undercoat first. 99% of the vids out there show them putting down whatever the base coat of the rock is going to be, first. Then they spend the rest of the video trying to place the darker colors in between the cracks. I always roll my eyes and ask myself, “Why are you making this video?” It’s a really easy formula; heavy dark undercoat + actual color of object/s + sparse highlights = realistic masterpiece. Thank you for sharing!!!

    that's one awesome grand Canyon model. That should honestly be sold to a museum or resource center in the Grand Canyon National Park. But I have another suggestion that may be interesting for you to try. Maybe doing a fossilized creature somewhat in the ground with a tunnel or cave in between the bones or the bones and rock. I feel it would make an interesting challenge.

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  8 років тому

      Good to see you back Samuel. I'm certainly not suggesting that scientists should not research, -it's what helped convert former atheist Antony Flew to become a believer in God. Further research could only contribute to one realizing that "nothing" (without intelligence) could have created everything.

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  8 років тому

      Not a bad note, we both feel we're leading the other towards the truth which is a positive thing!
      You're right, a lot of believers have become atheists. I would be surprised to learn that it's because they researched through the complexities of what science revealed to them.
      Good catch on my leaving out a "not". I'm sorry, what is the second complexity you're referring to? Are you talking about the origin of God not being explained, but the "creation" needs an explanation?
      Not all scientists with the same intellectual credentials believe alike, some believe in God, some don't.
      Just because someone is considered smart with PhD's and/or credentials doesn't mean they are right about everything. Actually, if you ask scientists that don't believe in God, they will tell you that in reality -they don't know what started life, as they are only going on a theory. One of the leading theories is that aliens planted life on earth. I believe it's a leading theory because they've exhausted the avenues to go down in order to stay with the "nothing theory".

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  8 років тому

      The origin of God is that He's from everlasting to everlasting. Didn't have a beginning, -won't have an end. It actually lines up with what a lot of scientists believe. Quite a few scientists believe that time and matter (the natural, or nature, or the physical) had a beginning. I believe that nothing can't create anything, and so the natural or physical can't explain the beginning -so the supernatural comes into play. Since time also had a beginning it had to be something outside of time. If you're timeless do you have a beginning? No.
      The nothing issue has to have everything to do with the origin of life. If nothing started the universe than it's also credited with the beginning of life. If there is no God then nothing gets the credit at every turn.

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  8 років тому

      It _is_ the answer to the problem of complexity. The only thing that could have started time is a being outside of time. The only thing that could have started the natural is a being outside of the natural, that is the supernatural. To me it comes down to whether you believe that nothing could have started everything. I can't, but I understand that it seems as if you can believe that.
      I believe that the majority of the papers published in the scientific journals are leaving out common sense and logic because they don't want to believe in intelligent design, -so "nothing" has to be the answer. As I said in previous comments -just because a person is smart and has credentials doesn't make them right.
      Life came from previously existing elements, but the "nothing" still created those elements. -I feel like we're in the Never Ending Story movie...

    I was following along until the intermission.
    First of all, the universe didn’t come from nothing, as you’d define nothing. Nothing is a “soup of strings and virtual particles”.
    And we can actually create cells from amino acids.
    But here’s my biggest problem with the reasoning of creationism. If it’s impossible to believe how small virtual sub atomic particles can exist. How are you comfortable with a complex conscious Deity existing? What is it/he/she made off, where did that matter or energy come from? Creationism is circular reasoning.
    Theoretical physics has hypothesis supported by math for causing a Big Bang from quantum fields. They also admit they can never test and verify their hypothesis as we are no longer in that sub atomic soup, but at least maths work in our dimensions and universe. And that proves without doubt that the Big Bang (what ever may have caused that) up to now is mathematically and physically sound.
    And the development of the body is in a way decision driven, like the road of least resistance but merely called natural selection. The “bad versions” of organisms at that moment in time didn’t procreate and for most.
    But I’m not here to change your opinion, its your right to believe it. But i always find it incredible that people can believe in a full fletched deity and not a universe out of “nothing”. Because I would logically find it harder to believe that there’s a conscious deity out of nothing.
    And your diorama, although manually created is a gorgeous creation. Well done.

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  4 роки тому

      Thanks for commenting. It's taken me a while to get back to you. You mention nothing -is a soup of strings and virtual particles. That's not nothing, that's something. As far as the cells: the idea is to create it from scratch. The question of how did God come to exist: It lines up with what the Big Bang is suggesting (which most scientists agree on), which is that time and matter had a beginning. So there was no "natural" or "time" at one point. The natural can't create the natural if the natural had a beginning. The supernatural is the only explanation -which points towards God. If time had a beginning it must have been something outside of time that was the first cause, -which points towards God being timeless and having no beginning. The idea is that anything _created_ must have a creator. God wasn't created, He's from everlasting to everlasting -Psalm 103:17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; .. In relation to your thoughts on finding it incredible that people can believe in a full deity and not a universe out of nothing. I find it incredible that people believe that unguided nothing somehow created everything! The only logical explanation is that there had to be a supernatural creator that designed everything. Thanks for your kind comments on the diorama, keep thinking about this -it's the most important subject on which one can ruminate.

    Coming from an agnostic point of view, perhaps there is a creator, but a book written by ancient middleeastern scribes with no knowledge about other civilizations and how the natural world works is not the answer to the world's problem, nor a rulebook to control the way of life, or define what is moral or immoral about how one lives their lives.

    • @LizardLandscapes
      @LizardLandscapes  6 років тому

      It's a book written from the inspiration of God. Meaning, they didn't need knowledge about other civilizations; all they needed was to hear the voice of God. It really is more of a question of whether they made it all up, or if it was divinely inspired.

      So that's why creationists ignore blatant facts? Also "living god", if it's living where is it? There is no trace that can be confirmed by a third and unbiased party. Here's an idea, religion gets discounted, and this part is important, because there is ZERO evidence to support it. It's like walking into a math class and announcing "1+1=4 don't ask how or why I said it is and that's all you need to know"

      David D.Y. Chang Please do not speak for me or other people as if you even have a milligram of knowledge about us, just so you can generalize your own beliefs on them without putting in the time and effort into attempting to understand where they come from.
      Now Disclaimer: I know I might sound like a horrid spiteful person because written words that do not contain any no tone of urgency or intent to reference off of. Please understand LizardLandscapes and David Chang that I am writing this not out of anger or hate for what you believe in, although it may seem like it. I am writing this from the same exact stand point as Lizard posted, and what he did can be seen as an attack on personal beliefs made from ignorance. Forgivable yes, but not blameless in the slightest.
      Correlation of what people came to watch this video for and what you believe in, may not be perceived as true for what happened in the past. The tone at which you delivered your god preach was condescending to those who do not believe in your brand of crazy. As a person who stumbled upon your channel and does not believe, it sounded like you were calling me a complete moron for not sharing your views on a video that is, in subject matter, completely unaffiliated with religion. I do come from a religious background and have ridiculed other for their beliefs without meaning it, so I got the gist of sincerity that you meant to share. But the fact that you are completely oblivious in your tone and don't understand this critique of being disturbing is alarming to me and is why I am typing.
      David, as for your argument against Stef goes, if living has taught me anything, it is that there is no such thing as a Black&White narrative in anything within existence. Life is a huge world of grays of all different gradients, Tints, Tones, Shades and Hues of Warm and Cold variants. What you perceive as holy and pure, I view as extremely divisive and harmful with a few minor merits that are not even worth it for me. To generalize others into a category just because they believe differently than you, does not make you correct in the least. In fact, to me, it makes you wrong on principal for relying on what a book told you and not attempting to use your own brain to stop and attempt to understand why someone thinks differently then you do. Your answer to "Why" is grossly misguided and disrespectful to those who you criticize as evil. Your views not perfect and neither are mine, so neither of us are correct on this.
      Jesus from Matthew 7: "(1) Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. (2) For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. (3) And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? (4) How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? (5) Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye." -New Living Translation
      The standards of which I choose to compare your actions to is personal belief, so this verse still applies. Also you'd be surprised to see how many problems can be solved if you take the time to try and understand the thoughts of others for yourself before you act. Hell, most of the problems we have right now are do to the mass generalization of others, and push to get the wants of those who claim as such over what is right for society as a whole. One innocent person died and nineteen others were injured on Saturday for this exact reason.
      Most people who do not believe in the bible probably have a different system of supernatural existence they may attribute to, or have some sort of spiritualism but don't believe in deities, don't believe in the spiritual or supernatural at all, or something else entirely. Many people believe in many different things for many different reasons.
      As for me, I don't believe in the bible anymore because the advise it gives in the modern world does more harm than good if taken to the literal standards that some people believe it should be taken for. The Character it chooses to glorify as Absolute and Holy is someone I could never morally justify as omni-benevolent, or even a bare minimal benevolent. The god of the christian bible is extremely spiteful to his creations, and is egotistical to the point of genocide if you don't believe in him or respect his prophets (little children of his wrath never get a chance to grow into his "love"). His reward, if you believe in him, is even more horrendous than what life is like on earth currently is like for a lot of people. He automatically condemns everyone unless you believe in Jesus, including people who live their entire lives and never hear his message because of circumstances (Yes, there are still remote tribes out there in the world who have never contacted anyone from any major nation, including the country they live in. Mostly living in the Amazon). The punishments he deals out to his narrative opponents literally have no options to side with him, because of the powers he has and abuses to make a point (Lets hardened Pharaoh's heart and then punish him by striking him with 11 plagues and one massacre to kill off all the first born (including his son) for his Hardened heart that we gave him to begin with).
      However, despite all of that, kicker for me is: Out of all of the claims over what Yahweh is and what he can do have no surmountable evidence to back the claims being made in the Bible. There is a saying, Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence. Everything attributed power to Yahweh has been associated with that I am aware of has no hard evidence (that does not require faith as a prerequisite) to match it's claims. The argument at 23:09 can just as easily be applied to any deity in existence, just replace "Nothing" with Gaia, Odin, Ra, or even your own god. What makes your god so special among the rest that make the same claim as being the true God(s) or Goddess(es)? What makes him the exception?
      It should be duly noted by this point that I loathe cherry pickers and cherry picking only the "good" bits of any belief system. I have personally and impersonally seen this behavior enable a lot good people to do horrible things with purpose, but without any acknowledgement nor care to the true weight to the actual consequences of what they are have committed.
      Now, I am not about to claim that everything was made from nothing or that some deity created everything with us in mind. All that I know is that I am an extremely tiny insignificant speck living on a slightly bigger speck, that revolves around a slightly bigger speck that is a tiny speck on the arm of a slightly bigger speck, that swims in an ocean of desolate space among other specks of variant sizes. What is beyond that Ocean I don't know, but it would be nice to know with hard evidence and not faith.
      The Universe is a deadly and cruel mistress who does not care for any of us. Nor did the people living thousands of years ago ever knew what was beyond the tiny planet we call Earth or what little we can see with the naked eye into the starry sky, let alone our own solar system. The Universe does not give or owe us any explanations as to why we are here or what we are meant to do, but that does not mean life is meaningless. Live for what you love, for your close family, for your friends, and for the neighbors you can tolerate. Find your own meaning to life and abide by it, but be wary of the consequences of your actions.
      All that I can really honestly claim in concern to the Origin of life and the universe is: That I don't know what caused them begin at all, nor does it matter why both of them came to being. I am living right now in this moment and am fortunate enough to have the family that I was born with, and to have met wonderful people of all different backgrounds and beliefs in my life to make me realize this. Instead Matthew 7:12 "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you", I have a philosophy to treating others as if they were literally myself living in a different life, only if the duty required of me can be fulfilled without major detriment to the current life I live now(it has its limits, also not advocating reincarnation either. Just that I could have, just as easily, become the same person I truly hate or admire at any time). As far as I honestly know you only live once (YOLO!) and there is no grand reward or afterlife afterwards, and I am not going to delude myself to believe that justice is always served even after death or that if I believe in X and do Y, that I'll get a reward for it after I die (as much as I want to believe). That is why I care enough about the both of you and other people to take the time and write this essay to tell everyone what I believe to be the truth. I am tired of being misunderstood, generalized, and completely hated by people who do not even entertain the thought of giving some sort of effort into trying to understand other people's beliefs that are not their own. I know this is not perfect, but I never claimed it to be and my thoughts can change if something can convince me otherwise. Religion is one of the first true echo chambers humanity ever created...
      Also I'm tired, took too long to write... I know there are mistakes galore everywhere, sorry about that... I may never edit them either...
      Words for the wary "The more you believe in Him, the more He reveals to you", can also be interpreted vaguely as "The more delusions you part take in, the more gullible you are".

      Back from a rest... To rebut your claim on DNA, you have to first be aware of one of it's close partner RNA. Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is a nucleic acid and a polymeric molecule essential in various biological roles in coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes. DNA cannot exist without RNA, but RNA has been found to exist and thrive without DNA. RNA is present in all living cells and is more crucial to life then DNA could ever be.
      Heres the thing... RNA has been found thriving on meteors and asteroids in the vacuum of space, and even on meteors that have fallen to earth. The RNA samples found on fallen meteors have survived the heat of entry through the earth's atmosphere. The reason why it is so important is that RNA is believed to be the precursor to DNA, and it exist outside of earth's influence.
      A few of RNA's properties include the ability to carry genetic material in itself and to mutate it rapidly over time. RNA is far more simpler in genetic complexity then DNA is, bust is still super complex to understand. Think of the comparison between the two as an Associates degree in college versus a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in college, two completely different beasts in the field of study. Now give RNA/DNA somewhere around 1.658 trillion days to mutate rapidly over time (within every millisecond of that time), and it is most likely to make super complex structures.
      Now something that would totally help your argument of a intelligent creator making the human body, would the fact that such a being could and probably would make humans without biological flaws. For evolution can only work around problems and be flawed during the process of evolving. Unfortunately human biology is not on your side...
      All mammals have something called the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), this nerve connects the brain to the vocal cords. You'd probably think that this nerve just connects to the top of your throat, because indeed an intelligent creator would do that. But in actuality it goes from the brain and down the neck, around an aortic arch (the major artier of the heart) and then back up the neck to connects to the vocal cord. There are UA-cam videos where this is demonstrated with a giraffe that you can search about this.
      Humans have inside-out retinas which creates a blind spot where cell fibers, akin to microphone cables, converge at the optic nerve. Making the brain work harder then it should, just to refill the holes within our sight. Because of the flipped retinas, light has to travel the length of each cell, as well as through blood and tissue, to reach the equivalent of a receiver on the cell’s backside. The setup may encourage the retina to detach from its supporting tissue, which is a leading cause of blindness. Cephalopods like Octopus and squid have better sight because of this fact alone, despite being colorblind.
      During gestation, a Human fetus will have gill-like structures form way before lungs do. On that note the pelvic bone gets in the way during natural birth, and it is not uncommon for a woman to break her pelvis during child birth.
      Unlike most vertebrea species, humans cannot produce vitamin C naturally in their bodies despite actually having a gene for it and needing it to keep healthy. Because of a mutation early in genetic history the entire gene does not function, and not getting enough vitamin C does lead to Scurvy later in life.
      We, as a species, have way too many bones within our own feet and not enough in our legs to truly benefit from bipedalism, which can cause leg injuries to occur more easily in highly physical activities. It is why you see so many leg related injuries in sports.
      And can we talk about party center being right next to the sewer? Seriously its super unsanitary for pleasure and health... For a girl to get pleasured during sexy time, one has to entertain the sewer and the party room... For intelligent design, that is just wrong....
      There are a tone of other psychological traits found within humans that should not be there if a perfect and intelligent creator made us.

      Wow, what an awesome comment!
      I did not mean to come across as condescending, and am sorry if that's how it's taken. I think the subject matter tends to lend itself to someone getting upset because it challenges core beliefs -and no one wants to be wrong. In my defense there wasn't any name calling or laughing at people who believe in evolution (you did type, in reference to me, and others that believe as I do: "your brand of crazy").
      The Bible is calling all of us evil, not just the ones who reject Jesus and the core values of the Bible. Meaning, we are all in the same boat, -needing a savoir. David wasn't judging anyone, he was quoting scripture.
      Your comment on how others believe in others ways or have different beliefs in general; Does that make them right because they have those beliefs? If a child was raised to believe in stealing, killing and torturing others by parents or a foster care couple; should a set of adults let him continue to do those things after they adopt him? Or should they teach him what the truth is: that he should not do those things? It's the basic question of: is there truth and absolute right and wrong?
      Your comment of people living their entire lives and never hearing the gospel; if God is all knowing and has the most supreme intellect, don't you think He would know what to do in a case like that?
      Your comment about Pharaoh's heart; there's scripture dealing with this: Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? Does God have the right to do what He wants with His creation? Is it possible we're just not understanding His purposes?
      As far as the evidence; you need to do the research and find what has been found that corroborates the Bible's validity. One big one is that early church creeds, that indicate the resurrection, date to within 7 years of Jesus' death. Meaning it didn't develop over time as a legend.
      As far as the cherry picking; are you saying that scientists, that believe in evolution, aren't cherry picking bits of evidence to make giant leaps toward explaining how we all came to be? As in there are enormous gaps in the theory and holes that can't be explained, and yet it's presented as fact.
      You also said: "Find your own meaning to life". What if someone's own meaning to his life is to kill steal and destroy? Are they right because that''s the meaning they've found? Or is there an objective right and wrong? The Bible is essentially saying that there is objective rights and wrongs. You also said: "be wary of the consequences of your actions." That's what Jesus is saying in many scriptures, as if to say there is a purpose.
      You said: "I have a philosophy to treating others as if they were literally myself living in a different life". A verse from the bible: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. SeikeKyu, in many respects you and others are already living according to how the Bible suggests, it's just the decision to take the next step and give God credit for giving you life and realizing that intelligence had to be the cause of our world starting -and not just chance.

    In short: You are the one that believes the god of the Bible is real, and you believe he created every single thing in the universe and therefore on earth, with no evidence to speak of and no logic whatsoever, and therefore, it is your job to prove this being exists. It is your job as the theist to prove your truth claim and not my job as the atheist to disprove it. You can not disprove a negative, and in the sense that you can, then we have already disproven your god or suggested he does not exist - noted that there is no reason to believe he exists. The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim, this being you. Proof of impossibility and Arrow's impossibility theorem are worth noting. Also, evidence of absence is evidence of any kind that suggests something is missing or that it does not exist. But, of course, God is so-called 'supernatural' so he can not be proven nor disproven, surely. But, again, I am not the one making the claims. Although most of your truth claims are based in this very reality, and in turn they are scientific, therefore, you do have to answer for them.

      So you don't believe in God, heaven, salvation, etc. so let's make a "bet"(as a mean of illustration only) in where I believe in all of the above and you don't, then we die and we found that you were right, that there was no heaven, no God, no salvation, what do I lose? nothing. On the other hand let's say that I was right, that there is a God, there is a heaven, there is salvation, and we both die, what do you lose? Everything, so even by logic it is better to believe in God and to seek salvation that btw comes by accepting the sacrifice that Jesuschrist made on the cross (payment for all our sins) and resurrected on the third day. I hope you come to salvation some day.

      Jose, that's called Pascal's Wager. It's a common fallacy. First, you're assuming it's no god or your god. There are hundreds of thousands of purposed gods. For the sake of ease, let us assume there are 100,000 deities worshiped throughout time. If all of these gods are equally likely, and the likelihood of no god were akin to the likelihood of a god (which it isn't), then Thought Workshop has a 0.0001% chance of being correct. You have a 0.0002% of being correct. You have almost as much to lose as him, and being as petty as most gods are said to be, it may be worse to worship a false idol than none at all. Thus, you have as much, or more to lose than Thought Worship.
