  • Craig Jackson and April Rose bring you this First Look before our 2022 Scottsdale Auction. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in style, this 1962 Lincoln Continental custom convertible with White Gold Metallic paint is aptly named “Gold Dust.” Built by Weld County Kustomz of Apache Junction, AZ, the car is powered by a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 crate engine paired with a ‪@ford‬ 4R70W 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. The engine was styled in the ‪@lincoln‬ livery and has painted covers and intake plenum to color match with the car; it was fitted with a custom intake and Pro Tuning Labs headers and is supported by a fully polished aluminum Watson radiator. The car sits on a full Weld County Kustomz chassis front to back with a 2000 Silverado rack & pinion power steering unit tied to GSI Fabrication tubular control arms and ‪@WilwoodDiscBrakes‬ Pro spindles with sealed hubs. The all-steel body is painted with Glasurit material in White Gold GN code, and it retains all its factory-provided brightwork trim. The front bumper license plate was shaved and rechromed, and the grille was completely rechromed. The interior was fully customized by Armando’s Upholstery with soft brown leather custom bucket seats, a custom console and a factory-style stitch pattern that carries through to the door panels as well. The dash is factory wood delete with painted surfaces and the instrument panel is fitted with ‪@DakotaDigitalTV‬ gauges in the factory Lincoln bezels. Custom climate control vents direct the ‪@va197653‬ and appear to be stock-looking but complement the Colorado Customs steering wheel and Flaming River column. “Gold Dust” was a Barrett-Jackson Cup contender at 2021 Scottsdale, on the cover of the January 2020 issue of Hemmings Motor News and was the 2020 First Place winner at the Pomona, CA, Grand Nationals.

This brings back an ancient memory for me; I was 12 years old in 1976 when my grampa bought a 1962 Lincoln sedan as a semi-retirement present for himself, he said he always wanted one, but couldn't afford the $6000. price new. His car was Sultana white with a black leather interior. I was facsinated of how the hood was hinged on the front. After my dad did some tune-up work him and I took the Lincoln on the highway to test it. On the return trip he floored it, and that car effortlessly climbed to well over 100 m.p.h.,not a single protest from that big 430 v8. Impressive, since these cars weigh over 5000lbs! I think the 60's Lincolns are the best-looking cars out there.

Saw this car at Scottsdale Goodguys. It is absolutely stunning. The interior is tasteful perfection in every detail. I bet that there is not an original shape or element left in there but it simply oozes class, like fine jewelry. The interior theme would be right at home on a 5 million dollar super yacht. No reserve probably means that the seller will lose his shirt and that is a shame. Buy it for $300,000 and you might as well have stolen it.

Very unique. Must be the biggest, heaviest unibody car ever built, but sounds like it was modded and put on a frame? The complicated top mechanism can be a nightmare. Real beauty.
