I been to four shows stayed at that hotel three times. Want to go again, not so much the York fairground, but this show, the billy budd, and the firehouse. And eat at Round the clock. Nirvana at its finest.

I remember back in the mid 2000"s, at the April show, it was so hot that year, that I saw a black train car melting in the sunshine, inside of it's box. I've seen this parking area crammed full of vendors and their trains. Though not this big, the Holiday Inn on the east side of town, used to have a lot of trains with some vendors bringing big tents, setup on the lawn. That part of the hotel meets dwindled away and I don't know if it even exists anymore.

The Marklin twin cylinder is sweet, Uve had it. BTW, the two cylinders have nothing to do with starting it without assistance,

You did a great job with the video, sorry I couldn't make it, because I live in California, we have show's but it is so far away from city's which is sad in the Bay area, then you pay $5.34 per gallon for gas out here and pay to get into the train show which is 50 miles away, so some don't attend plus you have to pay $10.00 to get in.

Thank you for highlighting the hotel train show. You were very respectful in not showing prices. I was wondering however, how does the prices for Standard Gauge at the hotel compare to online(Ebay for example) selling prices? Is it the same, lower or more expensive? The reason I ask is due to the fact that I can't find any Standard Gauge for retail where I live which is Canada. I am considering attending next year if the prices are worth the trip.

In my opinion, I feel it's better and easier to make a decision about any train purchases. I also feel it is way better holding the trains and having a good look.
      There is no shipping.
You can negotiate a price with the owner
Learn more about the trains as you buy them.
The best is making new friends for life with a great hobby in common.
      The trip is worthwhile

Tom, I live in Arizona and have never been to York. I have seen allot of videos from all of the halls but I really enjoyed this video and especially the vendors out in the parking lot! I think if I ever get to York I will have to find one of these smaller meets to attend. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for looking, there are a few more flea market type train meets and swaps around the area the same week.
This one is the largest of them. But they all have something to offer.

I remember when the Big H.I./ Wyndham outside was the place to buy trains before the TCA meet. Everyone went there first. Did more people show up to the parking lot by Wednesday and what percent of the parking lot do you think was utilized by the sellers ??? or did it look about the same ??

    • @lionelmaxltd
      @lionelmaxltd  8 місяців тому

The parking had a few more sellers , But there were new ones and some from Monday may have not returned Tuesday and Wednesday . Over all In my opinion it was good for both sellers and buyers. I always find some great deal there just the same. This time most of my time was spent at Neely's tables selling.

You did a great job very informational for people that lives down south. It is nice to see something like that and be nice to have a video on something like that when you go to the spring show are the fall show or to stay at and closest hotel closest to the train show you know especially when you live in Georgia or Tennessee, Kentucky or Alabama or Mississippi especially from people that are not from the north east but that is the best video that I’ve watched in the last four days very informational

This show was at the Wyndham Hotel York. There are a few more places also. If I remember, before the spring meet 2024, I'll try to get a video up about the flea market meets. Also, the TCA is going to have the purple hall at the fair ground open early (this my understanding).
      Check back for more info.

OK this is a bit strange, but also thank you for posting this. I was under the impression TCA only had the thing at the fair grounds. I work over in Spring grove and would see the sign "Train Show Today" at the Sheetz, but figured it to be just another train show, meet and not TCA related. So I never bothered. Now if there is no cost and also many outside do those sellers have to pay a fee to put their items out for sale. Either way is this not competing with the paid spaces a the fairgrounds, if this is all still part of TCA?

Don't just walk by the tables, Show and talk about the trains that are on the tables. Edit out the parts where there's nothing of interest. The layout displays are not of interest (to me) but others might like to see them. You did an AWESOME job showing that AMAZING Marklin steam engine. Do the entire video like that! There were tons of cool things like scale Hudsons and Blue Comet sets that would be nice to see but you just panned over them. @@lionelmaxltd

No photos please, videos? Well images in general. I dont see no harm, no reason to raise a alarm, but if you dont want people to take images, just keep them in the basement.

Altoona was my hometown for over 50 years. I bought a lot of trains from his father, Dick. My friend Mitch and I used to set up at York. Holiday Inn parking lot and then at the fairgrounds. The last time I saw Richie was 1997 when I bought the Jeep franchise where he worked in the parts department. I had a magnificent collection of Lionel trains until I got divorced in 2000. I had to sell them all to try and cover the court order where my ex received one million dollars in the settlement plus $4750 per month in child support for two kids.I don't even own a piece of track anymore. 😪 @@lionelmaxltd
