Hi All, Welcome to my Channel. I have been a TCA member since 2000. I'm a train operator, collector and basic guy that has been fooling with trains for 60 plus years. I'm sharing my trains and ideas with those who would like to have a look.
2024 Christmas trains running Lionel ABBA 2245 Texas Special
Hi everyone, Thanks for looking in today I have my Lionel O scale 2245 Texas Special running. The Texas Special was produced 1954-1955. I those two years there were many changes. The one running today I feel has been altered in a few ways, let me know if you feel it is correct.
One thing that sticks out to me is the silver pilot not red also with the silver truck covers not black. I realize they were like this but not together IDK. No matter this is how they came to me 20 plus years ago and I like the look.
This engine has two motors with megnatraction. Magnetraction is a feature Lionel developed to help the the steamers and diesels pull more loads with out slipping. Also the ability to climb the trestles with extreme loads up and down. The is diesel like most had a diesel horn also. The horn was powered with a "D" cell battery.
The freight cars are made by MTH or Rail King. I really do like the look with the decorations and LED lights.
Hope you enjoyed the video if or not please let me know. Also like and share

Christmas 2024 running #38 Lionel standard gauge and more
Переглядів 18919 годин тому
HI all welcome back. This year the #38 made an appearance. I found this #38 at the Greenberg Toy and Train show over the weekend. It is a repaint but looks very good and runs great, there's a few modifications done along with the repaint. The wheels and the pilot/cow catcher are cast iron. I said they were die cast that was incorrect. So I did a side by side comparison of an original and the re...

Hi all, this is just a look at the 384 and 384E "In my opinion". So the two types which can be broken in to 7 Types the 384 - 4 types and 385E - 3 types. The 384 and 384E were made at the same time just for two years, 1930 thru 1932. There are two color changes on the running boards , Green and orange. the window frames three from what I can see green , orange and brass. Of coarse the two types...

Not sure the car number just liked the way this one looked. Also all three cars are "O" scale I didn't mention that in the video. Please like share and leave a comment with your thoughts . hanks for lo...

🎅🚂🚂 Happy holidays Hope all is going well for everyone. HI All welcome back. I had a few nice finds but this was the topper, A Pre War Lionel Standard Gauge ( Ivroy ) 215 Oil Tank car. I didn't mention that these cars were produced from what I can tell 1929 thru 1940. This car is a type #6 of the 10 variations and types. Lionel had many things that made this such a desirable addition to any col...

Thanks for the first view of the inside of the ZW Transformer I have had. And its a view of what I can expect when I eventually have to open one on mine to upgrade or repair. Again, thanks.
Hey your welcome, I'm glad this helped. Remember to take pictures or make a video while the disassembly so the reassembly will go smoother. Keep em running
that looks awesome!
Thanks for spending time watching.....
Loved it.❤ the lighting of the snowmen and cars must be cool to watch Christmas Eve.
It was great.... Thanks
Nice video Tom! I enjoyed seeing the Texas special snd the standard gauge train! For the first time I am the first to veiw a new video on youtube. On your comment about the engines being Sante Fe's the vertical.motored engines would have had black side frames with the silver chassis? Interesting observations!
Hey thanks for looking in so soon. There were many different combinations. But something just isn't rite, But I really do like the look 😁. Keep them running
Looks like who ever painted -restored that engine did a nice job. Don’t see any dings or dents. Thanks for sharing. Went to Greenberg show in Columbus yesterday saw three standard gauge pieces total for sale. Looking for a nice 380.
That's not many at all. This show there were 100-150 different standard gauge engines and cars. If you are able to try this show next time. Do you run standard gauge? Thanks for stopping by.
The wheels and pilots are cast iron, not die-cast. Die-cast denotes the later wheels with the steel rims. Nice cars and it is very neat the amount of cars your 38 can pull.
Hey thanks nice catch. I'll make that change.
try showing how to put springs& brushes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not enough time on the subject model trains not talking to dealer and others waving
Joe from New Jersey!!.. im going to the Greenberg show sunday in Oakes!PA..
Hope you have fun. Look for Rick Neely at the show. I will not be there .
Who is the gentleman that was selling the toy trucks. You stopped at his booth early in the video.
Not sure at this moment...
No way, Tom. The only things I manage to find at flea markets are fleas.
Yep I found this at the flea market. I've run it on the layout just a few days ago for Christmas.... works great
eggscllent. note : i have my late mom and late dads manger that they built themselves . no room to display. nice af prewar o gauge . like . lovely fully loaded tree. ohm myyy.
Hey thanks.
I have a 384. Runs great. I enjoy your insight on the prewar trains. Thanks for sharing the information
Thanks I try to share what I have learned and hopefully help with the choices you all make with the next engine your thinking of buying. I really do like the 384 and 384E
Nice. Can’t believe they still work so well.
I really don't think Lionel knew just how very well they designed the engines, cars and accessories. I really don't they were supposed to last 100 years plus
Me Flyer 1938 420 die cast is all trimmed out with Brass and weighs a ton. She pulls a Marx tin wedge 8 wheel tender.
another very well made product from the Pre War era. Thanks for looking.
great run
Hey Thanks PopPop😀
I remember my father purchased a set of those Bubble Lights at the Gaylords Discount Store on Victory Blvd. in Columbus, GA back in 1962. They were a part of our Christmas tree decorations until I graduated from high school in 1975 and joined the Navy...
Happy Holidays
thank you , hope you enjoy
I was wondering if you would do you Christmas video.
couldn't forget, Will have more shortly. We need to get some treasure hunting and gold panning vids this summer. Thanks for looking
Farewell 2024.
Here comes the new year ready or not
Looks like an awesome place. If they sold stocked model rockets and accessories, I'd love it even better.
They do have some rocket items. Just go there and ask or call them first. I helped get some rocket supply's out yesterday.
Time to invest in a gimbal. Holy shaky!
That place is a major fire hazard. WOW!!! Has a ton of stuff, but how the heck do you find what you are looking for!
I live in WV but as far from Pat's and still be in the state. I do order online and they do a great job.
Wow 8 miles.
Yes this layout was really something to see....
Sadie and Janette love it 💖
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you both enjoyed the Vid. 😁
Tom, will you be with Rick at the York TCA meet in April? If so please come around the corner in row K and see me in the LCCA booth I would like to meet you in person.
Hi John, Thanks for watching the video. Yes we will be there . Rick and my self with the crew will be at the Windham gardens hotel Monday thru Wednesday. Then Thursday thru Saturday in the orange hall. Message when we get close if you think of it to remind me please.
@@lionelmaxltd Ok.....Rick knows me very well....LCCA is right around the corner, so just walk over!!!! I am sure Rick will be over with us during set up and to pick things up from us for the shop a couple of times.
@@johnsefko6481 , Looking forward to meeting you also . Thanks
Tom, I lived fora long time behind the Dairy Queen just down the street and I went to UPJ until I moved out East---so I still consider J'town to be home.
Those are pretty neat!
Thank You, someone took some time to refinish them
How do you wire a signal Bridge to this. With a red and green light ?
I'll try to get a video posted for this . Tuff this time of the year...
You gotta love MOMs 🥰
You got that rite. Your talking about the microwave bowel holder. I thought it was a real neat idea. Thanks for the comment.
Glad you didn't break that engine you were trying to pick up with one hand. It had a price of $1000.00 on it!
😓 😯 😉 Yep me also lol lol
Haven't been in a couple of years. Work on Sundays now. Nice train show
Sorry to hear that you have to work . Maybe next year
It looks like to be a house...
??? IDK looks good now
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!!
Hope to se ya at the next one
Thanks for sharing Tom! Glenn From AZ enjoying your videos!
Thank you for the comment . Maybe we will see see ya next time
Thanks for sharing. I hope I can find a train show in Central/Northern NJ between now and Christmas.
Hi , We are selling at a Greenberg show in Timonium Md this weekend. Hope you can make it , see you there.
Why did they make different size wheels?
This was just another marketing strategy by Lionel and other manufacturers at the time. Also homes were much larger and the larger trains had more room to run the rails.
Love the tree your mom made.
My Mom was very crafty . She always looked at my trains as they were so very precious. That's how I became a train collector and see them the way she did. Check out the family layout this year and see all the trees and cars that mom made , They both worked on the cars. 😉☺
Great find , the tank car most underrepresented car in model train layouts .
Is that 213 repainted?Almost looks too good.
No I looked al over. I saw tell tale runs in the paint on the frame. Also looked at all the tabs for scratches and bend marks and saw none at all. Look at the break wheel stands, surface rust. The top of the tank has very small and lite spots of discoloring. The wheels and axles have the same. BUT IT DOSE LOOK VERY NICE............ never found one like this at a very nice price.... Thanks for looking
How can I find out about the next show in Johnstown? Thanks
HI Great question. The show has been in the past the first Sunday in December. I will try to have more notice next year. Thanks for asking
