Hi Robert, what a great video. I mainly wanted to know how to make this hotshoe fit something. I learned about that an much more. I never knew I could scroll down the function window and see more options. I now know I can but an adaptor for the hot shoe. I have been in photography and video for years an never encountered a hotshoe that needed an adaptor. I am sure canon has a lot of high price items that fit on the current hot shoe. I have contacted B&H because I cannot determine which adaptor I need. The wide angle lens and the remote are on my list to purchase. Great video... very helpful.
@nlnodoubt I have, but since I already own the Canon HFS200 and since it does what I currently need it to do, I haven't considered buying one yet. For my next upgrade when the time comes, I may consider buying a DSLR as a replacement since many people are starting to use them for both photos and video.
Hey Robert thanks for the review. Its funny how I bought and used exactly the same add ons as you did. I've returned to this camera after a year or so on dslr's and its still great!
I'm back with another comment about this camera which is the lack or an eye piece. The screen is ok but when I am out in the sun light I cannot see what I am looking at. My wife took a picture of me and all that could be seen of me was my hat at the bottom of the picture. I have purchased a hood for the screen and it helps a bit but it can still be a challenge to see as well as needing long fingers to press the buttons on the screen.
hey, Robert.. thank u very much for a very informative video on Canon HFS200. I just bought this camcorder. (2018) Yeah.. a pretty old camcorder but yeah.. been using it for a a month now... very informative on its functions.. Bought this camcorder due to its pretty cheap price now.. :-)
Thanks for this! Great camera. Is the audio recorded 24bit/48k? or 16bit/44.1k? or 16bit/48k? Or does it not matter? I'm recording separate audio with a Tascam and I want to make sure there are no sync issues in post.

I bought this when it was still $1000 back in the day, what is the modern 2019 equivalent of this camera? I'm finally looking to upgrade.

I no longer have this camera so I'm not sure. I just used the default settings at the time.
Have you had any issues with the noise of clicking the zoom buttons on the Benc Remote?
is it possible to put a fisheye lens on this camera?
I have that remote. the problem i have with it is that clicky noise it when you press the buttons.
Also, when you walk with the Rode Videomic mounted, do you hear a squeaking from the rubber bands on the microphone?
Did you ever think about getting a DSLR?
