- Reviewing the best compact phones in 2024, including mini favourites like Google's Pixel 8 and Samsung's Galaxy S24. This round-up of the greatest smaller smartphones also features foldable handsets like Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola's RAZR 40 Ultra. Here's hoping my pick of the best compact phones grows with an actual Zenfone 11, the Pixel 9 and more!

So far in 2024 we've not seen many dinky blowers at all, especially as Asus decided to launch an Ultra phone instead. The Xiaomi 14 only just about scrapes into this 'best of' collection as it's pleasingly hand-friendly compared with most rivals - and a brilliant phone. That camera pumps out gorgeous snaps, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 means fluid gaming and battery life is also tops.
Other notable small phones right now include Samsung's Galaxy S24, the Pixel 8 and Sony's Xperia 5 V (which will suit professional photographers).
For a budget, you have the Pixel 7a, soon to be replaced with the Pixel 8a. Or alternatively, if you're stacked with cash, check out the Moto RAZR 40 Ultra and Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5. These are some of my favourite foldables in 2024, offering a compact design with a slick Android experience.

I bought the iPhone SE 3 recently because I knew it would be my last chance ever to have a 4.7 inch screen and physical home button. Verizon didn't even know if they had it in stock when I went in and asked for it, haha.
I bought a 15 Plus because I wanted the best battery life possible on an iPhone. But I now regret it because of how ridiculously big it is. The perfect phone according to me would be a thicker 13 mini with double the battery.
These phones are all way too big still. 4" screen is ideal, 5" max. But there are no modern options anymore.

pixel 5 was the best compact phone I've ever used... Too bad they don't make phones like that anymore.

Pixel 5 was not a flagship phone with mediocre processor, low end haptics, slow camera and processing and used to overheating like a toaster and lastly the speaker was atrocious .
It was far from perfect.
Every manufacturer should make a small compact flagship.
For me, it's the Sony Xperia 5 v FOR SURE. The camera is phenomenal for photo and video, it packs the same humongous size battery as a Samsung S24 ultra and in a much more compact body which can last me easily a couple of days with regular use, got a headphone jack, sd card slot and runs on basically pure android. This phone is crazy good.
*It's not the size that matters but on how good the experience is*

Just upgraded to an iPhone 13 Mini.
I know they’re not sold new any more (the Apple Amazon Store has JUST sold out), but I was able to get a mint condition one at the beginning of February. Would definitely recommend.

I regret buying the 15 Plus. I love the battery. But I wish I had a smaller phone that didn’t fall out of my pocket every time I get into my car.
My Z Flip 5 gets great battery life because I tend to use the cover screen for many tasks.

I have the iPhone 13 mini now. Battery status at 89% in under 6 months. Im looking at the Asus zenphone 10.
After a see deal on o2 and probably having to live on beans on toast for the next few months, I got the Pixel fold and o h my goodness what an experience 😍 closed this is by far the most comfortable phone to use and opened for fantastic media consumption and multitasking and put Android experience, this is easily my favourite phone since my beloved BlackBerry Passport. Still holding s10e. Probably won't replace it unless it is broken or a phone with replaceable battery got release.

I'm still on the Sony Xperia 5ii. The slim size makes me hate the thought of pretty much every new phone in my hand.

Maybe it's already a bit outdated but i find Google pixel 6a still worth mentioning even in 2024. And when a person takes the price at which he can get it now, I still think that it is the best ratio of price and quality mobile phone.
I love mini but powerful smarrphones like S24...

My Razr 40 Ultra is a great small/big phone... 6.9" when open. For my use case just perfect... Great cover screen functionality... Impossibly thin with Ready For functionality has really impressed me.
what about razr 40 (normal one, not the ultra) ?? is it worthy?? it's cheaper than the ultra and half the price of the z flip 5..

I'm a power user and I have had my z flip 5 since launch. The battery isn't as bad as most people say. I put it on charge after work in the car and that does enough for me. The camera is great and I still love hanging up the phone with a flip. I don't bother using the cover screen, I literally open the phone up approx 100 plus times a day and no issues. Solid build quality. My best phone ever

I'd recommend the Google Pixel 7a. I had flagships for years, then went to the 7a and it's been fantastic 👍

It's medium sized in actuality as far as classifications go. It's a bit bigger than the S24/iPhone 15 & 15 Pro, but still one-hand friendly, and has way better specs than all of them.
Heck, the fact that it is the only one with fast charging and comes with a charger in the box alone is enough to make me pick it over something else if I were on the lookout for a "compact" phone.

Samsung galaxy S24, pixel 8, zenfone 10 is my best
the most annoying thing about this is the fact that you're either stuck with the edge 30 neo, a phone that's one generation older, or a freaking flagship. I either spend $200, or $900 on the s24, xiaomi 14, sony 5 v, zenfone 10, or one of the flip phones. There is a complete lack of middle ground, and it hurts because the price difference is so astronomical and most cheaper phones are also astronomically large.
Should the iPhone 15 not be in this video as well? It's smaller and lighter than a Pixel 8.

The iPhone 15 pro is almost the same size as the zen phone 10 so it’s a pretty good smaller phone although besides the iPhone mini I wouldn’t call any of these phones mini at all. They are all still kinda big. I kept my mini 12 as long as I could and finally had to upgrade. So sad they don’t make phones like that anymore
12 mini isn’t a bad phone aside from my poor battery life.
Pixel 9 is supposedly going to have three options, something more akin to the normal version's size but with all the features of the pro.
The Pixel 9 will be 6.03", the 9 Pro will be 6.1", and the 9 Pro XL will be 6.5", based on rumours.
@@pixelgaming7261 Sounds good, and I think a lot of people will like that. I've held a Pixel 8 and do like the smaller size (I'm on 7 Pro right now), but I'm not sure if I'd completely switch. Rumoured (but probably true) Pixel Fold 2 sizes might be the way I go.
@Mark-ns3jo The only downside is that, if rumours pan out, it'll have a flat frame lile the iPhone and Galaxy S24.

I'll just slapping a case on it so it doesn't bother me too much, but the Fold 2 is probably what I'll end up getting which isn't rumoured to have the flat frame. It does have does have a bad looking camera bump, but if that means better photos, I'm all for it.
@Mark-ns3jo It's thicker and heavier, though, and will get an outer screen more akin to the OnePlus Open than the original Pixel Fold.
Blackview N6000 - 4.3 inch. Jelly 2 and Jelly 2E with 3.5 inch screens. Small phones do exist and you don't have to grab the flagships here.

Just get a phone a few years old. Pixel 3a is still fine. You can get them cheaper, their lifespan has built up community tech support resources, and they still make phone calls

Don't know what to get after zenfone dying. I just want a pixel like stock os with good battery life for my 9h screen time... :(
What I don't understand is that the standard iPhone is well under 6 inches in height. Why only ONE android phone is still made in that size, and its the S23, is incredibly bizarre. It would make sense that more phones try to copy the size of the iPhone but they don't. Its weird that EVERY tech reviewer raves about the small size of the Zenfone 10 and also blame it for its poor sales, but its about .1" in both height and width of the iPhone 15.
