      I guess most content creators have low porosity because it's easier to get to and mantain long hair starting with low porosity hair.
      But, it doesn't mean long hair with high porosity can't be done.
      I remember Indigenous Strandz had really impressive length and she is high porosity 4b/4c hair.
      As for me, I have high porosity hair that is between wavy and curly (I am Italian but regularly watch Green Beauty because it's the best hair care channel and my hair is extremely high porosity naturally so the usual generic shampoo + conditioner don't cut it for me). I cut my hair 2 years ago to shoulder blade length due to damage and extreme unevenness, it was so damaged that it wouldn't grow anymore. Then I started trying to take care of it, with some ups and downs. Now the longest parts (I have a layered cut) are a bit beyond waist level and the shortest parts are a bt beyond bra strap levels, and everything is much healthier. For me the big changes generally have been, moisturizing (with some protein, high po likely needs a bit of both always) and protecting my ends with hairstyles that hide them. I can't speak personally for things like single strand knots (I get some but nowhere near high type 3/4) and big shrinkage. But I know that at least with some patience everyone can get longer hair than they used to.

      More products need to be catered to our hair type. I love the Camille rose honey leave in because it keeps moisture in for days. Also, most of these natural girls are mistakenly thinking they have low porosity hair. In my opinion it is impossible to bleach and dye your hair (like most of them have done) and still consider it low porosity.

      @@92spice18 one thing I have noticed is that people with natural high porosity hair can use products made for worn, processed and damaged hair (hair that has turned high porosity due to mechanical/chemical/heat damage), even if their high porosity hair is technically not really damaged yet.

      @@virginiamontaldo440 this is very true. I’ve used products for color treated hair with success only issue is I have to use it in moderation to avoid protein overload. Another issue is these products aren’t typically designed for textured hair.

    Thank you for this, we need more info on high porosity hair. A lot of naturals think they have low porosity hair because that’s all they see, but what they have is product build up from not using shampoo. I have very fine high porosity hair and it took me an entire week to detangle my hair last week. My hair was in large twists for a month and I wanted to chop it off the day I washed it.

      I can only speak for mines came through chemicals bleaching my hair. And when I tell you this the dry spot.. if you look at my hair you would say it’s nice curly blah blah but give it by day two. Dry frizzy. Etc. I can do a bit for a couple of hrs after that it looks like some shock me. This year I plan to just keep it in Braids and see if it helps with length. Maybe someone else can talk about their Natural High porosity.

      @Neesha242 Рік тому +4

      I have high porosity virgin hair. It behaves well. It lacks shine, but its not extremely dull. If I use a leave in or a cream or grease/oil my hair stays soft, but it still gets frizzy because it’s high porosity. I have soft frizzy hair. As long as my hair is soft I know it’s not too dry, but I like to re moisturize every 2-3 days. My hair can remain soft even at a week. Twist or twist outs/braids works best for me and the frizz is at a minimum unless it’s humid outside. Any style that requires my hair to stretch is good. Oh and when I wash my hair it doesn’t dry up within mins it take some hours unless I use a towel for it to dry quicker

    • @imtheprize
      @imtheprize Рік тому +24

      Keep your hair stretched (braided, blow out) where it cannot get tangles and knots easily. Wash gently in sections as opposed to altogether as this will caused knots n tangles. You have to be gentle and handle with care. Since moisture leaves your hair fast you'll have to keep it moisturized, maybe every 3/4 days. Definitely ALWAYS slept with satin pillow cases. Avoid leaving you hair out in a puff or afro cuz it'll cause knots n tangles.. Don't deal with your hair if you are feeling lazy cuz you'll do a poor job and won't take your time, just wait til you feel like it.

      Please don't cut his beautiful hair, 17 and half years later, I regret listening to my father and letting a barber cut off and bald fade my son's back lenght thick, shiny, curly, & beautiful hair.
      (It changed his texture forever)
      My tips are to add okra gel or aloe vera gel immediately after the final rinse on wash day! "Both are very thick, moisturizing and detangling." Which will allow his hair from drying out as fast & getting re-tangled.
      " Then immediately afterwards start layering a thick & creamy leave-in conditioner, favorite oil, and ending with a thick favorite custard, cream, or butter like Shea, Mango, or Avacodo.

      I can EASILY spend 3 hours detangling my high porosity hair.
      And even when my hair has been thoroughly detangled before shampooing, after using shampoo (very gentle shampoo) it’s worse than ever and I can start detangling all over again. Even with a huge amount of conditioner, it’s still a challenge and will take a very very long time. I always dread wash days because of it. No matter how gently I brush my hair, the brush will rip hairs out because it gets stuck on invisible tangles. My hair still manages to tangle while being in a braid, having applied enough oils and products with plenty of slip. 😩
