I never found out what was causing that squeak. I lubed every scissor pivot point, plus the distributor links. I lubed the scissor cable and the spring too!
Does that center have many issues because they are not maintaining their lanes on their own? The pins need cleaning at the very least. The dirt built up on the machine is unbelievable. At least get the pin chasers, if they have them, to wipe things down and vacuum. While not perfect, it has to be better than what they have now. I feel bad for you because you have to deal with those conditions when helping them out.
I have a full-time job that I love. I help out other local centers when they need a hand, Sometimes I take on some longer distance projects when needed, but I don't consider/advertise myself a traveling technician. I know the need is there!
