Watching this video of IU being interviewed (link below) made me realize how my interpretations of this song and MV only touched such a small part of the whole message she wanted to convey. I’m so in awe of IU’s artistry. Make sure to watch not just the MV but this interview as well, to make sense of it all. Thanks again for being here! ☺️ ua-cam.com/video/P2I-xdoipd8/v-deo.htmlsi=Coibbh0IXpzSuOLO
Outstanding reaction. 10 out of 10. I have watched this video countless times and listened to analysis by many reactors, each providing valuable pieces to this video puzzle that have intrigued me as I tried to see the whole picture through the many 'easter eggs' . Your reaction provided clarity for the picture. Listening to you work through the clues is refreshing. subscribed! I am a great great grandfather, I can see the Mobius Strip I am apart of..and it makes me realize that even with more than 40 offspring, I haven't been called by Name in decades.
Awww thanks for being here and I’m glad my (hopefully coherent enough haha) thoughts provided another perspective. ☺️ your last sentence really moved me.. not being called by your name for decades because of the titles and roles you’ve played through the years. 🥺 with your words, the song’s lyrics “Her name is Shh” has an even more impact to me. May I ask, what’s your take on the song? How do you feel about it after watching the video countless times and listening to other reactors? ☺️
The song is actually talking about 3 different types of relationship even though the MV seemingly is focused on the mother-daughter one. The 1st verse is clearly about mother-daughter relationship in the perspective of the daughter. The 2nd verse at first glance seems to continue talk about the same in the perspective of the mother. But that doesn't sound right bc Hyerin is the youngest voice here. In this verse she's actually talking about a childhood friend. The 3rd verse is in the perspective of a woman towards her role model, not unlike IU to IU's fan. The common theme is that they are all complex female relationships that cannot be categorized as simple friendship or love.
Thank you for that perspective, I didn’t think of that! 😍 And I agree, women relationships (or relationships in general too) are really complex. I think that’s why the final narration was so impactful because despite what we think we know, there are still concepts/ideas/emotions that may not truly be explained. I super love IU’s ability to bring out stories like this not just through her lyrics, but in the video as well. It was so well executed. I really admire IU 😭
Interesting perspective! Just a small correction, the name of the youngest singer here is Hyein. You probably mixed it up with the name of Haerin, Hyein's groupmate in NewJeans.
Awww thanks for being here! 🥹 I hope my thoughts were coherent enough. I feel like my words can’t keep up with the thoughts in my head. Hahaha that’s what I really love about IU’s art, always thought provoking and she puts out so really good content and everything is so intentional with her. I love her 😭
S, you were doing great job on this daunting first chance to understand this, and were stifled a little by voices and perspectives changing during song between daughter, mother and child/daughter??? Explaination videos and comments could help, but much of this seems to instigate theought on dilemmas, conflicts and coming to terms which so many experience but few can really know of others
Thanks 🥹 I tried so hard to make sense of what was in my head. 😆 there were so many elements not just in the MV but the actual lyrics as well that made it so baffling 🤯 but I agree, the theme of the song & MV seems to revolve around coming to terms with certain experiences. And how sometimes they themselves are unable to understand. Really really love IU’s storytelling style 🥹

IU needs a good intelligent reactor for her meaningful creation. Subscribed!

Good job checking lyric video… if I’m right, each singer represented a different style: jazz, R&B and rock with IU doing all adlibs and backing vocals
Oooooohhh.. didn’t even notice that! That’s another thing I’ll pay attention to when I listen to the song. And gosh, IU and her adlibs! 😍
