In the video I think tang wei (the other actress) is the daughter and that IU is her mother. I personally don't think IU is actually there but that tang wei is just thinking about her mom and her image of her mom is still from when tang wei was a teen or possibly before tang wei was even born. The two seem to have had a complicated relationship in tang wei's teen years and into adulthold. When the both of them are looking into that hatch door on the floor they're seeing that scene where IU and the little girl/her daughter (tang wei) are relaxing on all those sheets and looking at each other. It reminded tang wei that she did once have a good relationship with her mom (IU) and that at the end of the day her mother does love her. I think at the very end during that narration, tang wei decides to let go & forgive her mom for the way she's treated her over the years cause she's realized as a human & a woman her mother went through her own struggles as well. I'm not sure who the two ladies at the very end during the credits were but I personally think it was the mother (IU) as a young person and her own mother, showing that mother-daughter relationships are a story as old as time. There will always be mothers and daughters. There will always be the intergenerational trauma but also the love and friendship that can come with the mother-daughter relationship. Also, at the beginning of the mv some of the text that appears on screen says "She hid her mother away" so I pretty much knew from the beginning it had something to do with a mom and a daughter
The 'mobius strip' over the door in the beginning and end of the mv is a clue . The emotions and feelings are what each locked up about each other...symbolized by the car trunk ;and the trap door is IU, as the mother revealing about herself as a person to her Tang Wei, her daughter ,that made her the mom that her daughter knew. The 'Mobius Strip' is illustrative of the never ending cycle that occurs intergenerationally and the story also shows the intergenerational trauma that happens between daughters (and sons) who only know and judge their parents by their roles and not as a person...hence the name...Shhh....just a guess
