I’m building a house and have been so overwhelmed with trying to figure out what my style is. This is the absolute best video I’ve found to help me stay focused. I’m kinda like Dory (finding Nemo) when it comes to decorating. I love everything. Great job!!!
This was so 👏 freaking 👏 helpful 👏. Just bought a house that needed a full gut and the idea of redecorating has been stressing me out, but now I feel like I can manage it! Love the notebook idea too, very inspiring!
I'm definitely mid century boho. I love mid century furniture, so a lot of my big pieces are from like West Elm. But I love the maximalism and worldly feel of boho decor and textures. Lots of linens and woods and other natural fibers. Lots of plants.
It’s so amazing how perfectly dedicated you are to the art of decoration and room makeovers. Everything you said rolled perfectly off of your tongue as if it was natural for you to teach people about this. I know you worked so hard on this video and those emails. I am very proud of you Macenna, you have been an inspiration for us all!🤍🖤🤍🖤
This is really awesome. Back in January is about the time I started watching and I very quickly realized I didn't have a cohesive or defined style. I live in a small town, so we don't have a lot of decor or furniture options, but we DO have a Hobby Lobby. I went to Hobby Lobby on a day where I wasn't in a hurry or anything and went around and took pictures of all the things that stood out to me, that I really liked or was drawn to. When I got home, I pulled out a spare journal I had and started grouping pictures by elements. For instance, I like a lot of mud cloth patterns, textures, pops of color, abstract art. I love natural wood, gold and brass accents. Some Scandanavian types of furniture pieces, wall galleries. So it became clear I have more of an Urban Bohemian style, and then I went to pinterest to assemble more solid inspiration. Having a journal to write it all down in was SUPER helpful and I love the idea of pictures, cloth samples and paint chips, must haves for room by room. Definitely something I'll be adding on even more! Thanks for the awesome video and see you next Sunday!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. It was very thorough and detailed. Girl, you should have your own show on HGTV. I learned a lot from this video. Great job!!

You're like a butter on my heart. Love your content and I'm so inspired to redecorate my tiny flat. I'm sitting at work and contemplating about what I'll going to change. 😊 Keep posting. Best wishes from UK xx
I seem to have a mixture of things going on in my house. I love the Scandinavian look, but I have some elements of Scandinavian, some boho chic, and coastal. I definitely prefer neutrals and recurring color themes throughout my home, it definitely ties in together well!! Enough that my little girl likes to help me with some DIY projects to make our place special.
Oh my dear. I have been watching so many FARMHOUSE vids. Traditional without clutter. YEAH! Thanks for the info. You’d think by 72 I would have figured it out. Love you Dearie.
My style is definitely Scandinavian and I have some boho decor thrown in there too... I think when I live with my boyfriend I might decorate a little more industrial which I also LOVE and think we would both be happy with
My three favorite styles!!! I was worried about moving in with my fiancé because we didn’t know how to combine all of these things and keep it at a happy medium between feminine and masculine but we’ve found that those styles actually blend so seamlessly together!
Hi! New fan here! Was looking for tutorials on painting and saw your DIY paintings video and have been binge watching you ever since! I found this particular video so helpful because I always thought my style was just Bohemian, but I have never been a fan of the busy colors of the style. My decor is warm, minimalistic and very neutral, but also has bits of things like macrame and cultural pieces too that typically fall under Bohemian. So now I think I’m a cross between Scandinavian and Bohemian thanks to you! Very cool! ☺️
My style is definitely a mix between MCM and modern traditional and tad bit of boho. I love clean, timeless furniture with a few fun handmade elements! Thanks for the great video
Was this helpful? YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! I have been trying to decorate my house for years and was never able to truly pull it together. No matter what I tried it always looked like a Hodge podge of just stuff.
Im so thankful u made this video! Been wanting to show my boyfriend his bedroom has so much potential but I couldn’t get a vibe from it! I now see that he would love an industrial look. 🖤👏🏼
PRICELESS advice!!! Things I never thought of before! I thought I knew how I wanted to redo my mess of a bedroom but now I’m starting from scratch with this format! THANK YOU
Thanks MaCenna, a very helpful video, I never really thought about my style, but it's Bohemian with some vintage thrown in because I'm older and have a lot of vintage furniture, and I for sure love bright colors, purples being my favorite. I do want to change the color of my walls, they are the old 70's light paneling and I want to brighten up things and feel that a bright white or lighter color could do the trick. Thanks for so many great ideas, this was a great video to watch, I was inspired by so much, now onto the big painting project, lol. I hope you have a great day and stay safe, I will see you soon, XOXO.
LOVE the visuals in this video. the mood boards to describe each style were helpful and so cute! i’m moving in a couple of months and can’t wait to decorate the new space. this video was so helpful!!
One great thing I learned from Bobby Berk is that it's okay to have more than one design sense. For example, my design preference is definitely industrial farmhouse, and there's a lot that I can within those two styles.
In the process of buying a house and this is extremely helpful for me! My mind is in a hundred different directions and this just solves everything in just a few steps! Thank you!
Hola! Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been stuck with my bedroom makeover for almost a year, not finding what my style is. And I finally got it! Thanks to you!!!!! I’m mostly coastal and a bit of farmhouse. I am so excited to follow all your steps!! Thank you! 💕
Thank you Macenna! These are such great tips and advice. I'm slowly making changes to rooms in my home and I gotta say, and some ideas you've given in the past are what I refer to today. I organize things into a basket, have added more plants around the house and have changed out my heavy curtains with light airy ones. They're not much, but it makes me feel more at ease
Your explanation of the decor style was incredibly helpful, thank you! For me, it was Much more in depth than style quizzes! I'm going to send to my husband so he can see what's more his style as well.
Being from uk I find this whole video interesting we have similar ideas here but there are some differences it’s great to see your ideas love them as usual my style at 60 is old bamboo and velvet and trying to fit in 40 years of presents from 3 kids age 40/38/36 and my husband so minimal definitely out!!
I needed this video. My husband and I are moving into our first home next month and we are both discovering our styles. You posted this at the PERFECT time.. for us at least. lol Love your channel. So glad I stumbled upon it this year.
*Thank you for this!* You explained the mid century style very well. All these call to me, but what's made me happiest is contemporary since I like a blend.
I LOVED that you touched on pretty much every main design style! Now let me ask you this, do you think it’s okay to have each room in your house have it’s own style or should the entire house have one repetitive style! I’m torn in this new house with rooms like the kitchen and the laundry room because they are so modern but I love a more vintage boho style!
I wouldn't have rooms too different. Figure out how to blend different styles that will work together. Especially common or publiv rooms or rooms that can be seen through open doorways. It can be very jarring. I've been in houses like that and stayed there or worked there as a contractor. There isn't any type of comfort to it. I could see maybe a Frog common done in a complete different style or kids room. These are areas people aren't exposed too.
I think the key is to have a consistent colour palette, to marry styles together. My mom's living room is very british colonial (dark walnut/mahogany wood, orchids, ferns, porcelain), my bedroom is light, airy boho (bamboo, mango wood, rattan). My sister is more modern minimalist (white/silver/black). We share the same flooring, and our walls are similar (off white). It's like a natural transition! Just use a lot of neutrals and simple designs with clean lines for versatility. 😊
I agree with May .. having the foundations and similarities in each room like the flooring and trim and at least 1 color that you use through out the whole house and then you can invite the uniqueness of color and style into each of those rooms. I’ve also been in homes were each room and bathroom are completely different and it was AWESOME! So it’s your home and what ever feels right to you do it! 🥰
I love danish modern, but I’ve inherited some antique pieces so those go in my scheme. I’m a more is more maximalist, as well. Some people might not like my space but its filled with pieces I love, crammed with color, art, plants, etc. It’s a mid century, beachy , eclectic, boho vibe!
These are all great tips! Along with finding a common theme throughout all the styles I love I also try to remind myself work with what you already have. Then remember over time the things you once liked aren't as appealing anymore so it changes. Its good to update and fun! change things around. You don't have to be stuck with a certain style for the rest of your life😄
Omg this was so helpful! I watched another UA-cam video on this same subject and it didn't help at all! I'm so glad you shared this information with us!!
This video is so well done! The mood boards were fantastic, they really showed the key elements of each decor look and really helped me to identify my personal style.
This was the MOST helpful video- you broke it down so simply and clearly and all the advice was so logical too! Also brilliant to see all the trends categorised :) Love your channel ❤️ Thank you x
So helpful!!! I think finding my design style for decor has been as useful as my color season for fashion. Both prevent me from buying things that complicate and break cohesion in my aesthetic.
You truly are amazing! You gave me so many ideas. I like the journal idea a lot. I will definitely try it. Lately I have been in love with rattan furniture. I have a white bed frame and was thinking of implementing some natural wood elements like a natural looking nightstand. I'm still deciding what drug to use underneath my bed.
Your videos are so extremely helpful! You are a joy to watch and I love your style. Exactly like mine! Thank you for everything and keep doing what you are doing!! 💕
This was an amazing video, MaCenna! Super helpful. Awesome visuals too. I've never seen a video that included 'real life', digestible applications like this. I always find this type of thing overwhelming, but you really helped to define and organize it for me. Thank you!
This was really helpful! Since I started watching your videos I have been so inspired to thrift (once things are back open) and rethink my existing decor in rooms! You do a great job with your channel. :)
Youre amazing!! Thank you for simplifying the break down of different styles. I was one of those people that didn't know what I really liked but seeing pictures of furniture, paints, metals and patterns really helped me to decide where I stand design wise. Now I'm still crossed between 2 style options, may be you can help by making a video incorporating 2 styles together?
Love this video ! What is ur favourite furniture paint to redo furniture ? I want to do my late moms dining broom set ? Is there an app for furniture...to see what colour I should go with ?
The Journal sounds so useful thank you! We're building our house, I have some furniture that was from my parents, and we need to buy some more we're getting married so we have a lot of things to buy. And I really want to go straight to what I would like to keep instead have to do a make over. But on a budget. And to really have it clear will be so helpful thank you for your advices love your videos!!
I’m not good at remembering colors, so the purse sized portfolio is a great idea for me. I have bought plenty of things that just didn’t go where I expected! Thank you
you went above and beyond with the mood-boards 🖤 really appreciate the work/effort ... love this video! during this time that we're isolated in our homes and actually living them the urge for makeovers/reno/update is increasing a lot ... very informative and aesthetically pleasing video! hugs from Puerto Rico 🌴☀️🌊
Thank you. This was the best I have seen on this subject. Will you show us how to make that graph chart of the rooms? What does each box mean? How do we make it proportional to the room? Thanks from your new subscriber.
My style is either none of the ones you described or a hodgepodge of 2 or 3 of them. Lol. I have three large rooms with different uses and needs and styles and I want to do them all over. Im grateful for finding this channel!!!!
This is the most helpful video I’ve ever watched. I recently bought my own home and I’m having so much trouble with my style and where to start. This helped me so so much! Thank you!! My new favorite UA-camr for sure!
You're such a gem! I watched this because your vids are fun, but turns out that the descriptions you used to describe Bohemian & Modern Traditional (specifically) are the closest to what we have & I can stop being so confused!! Thankyou so much xxx
i’m in love with so many different styles i’m like how do i incorporate the ones I like while also being cohesive
I would like the answer to this also
I took the Mr. Kate style test and it came out with like 8 different things. Too broad to narrow down from it.
I’m no expert but I think the colors you use and making sure you stay within a color scheme it helps to incorporate different styles together
My two cents is you can make different furnitures look cohesive in a room by sticking to your color palette.
Lyonel Ericastilla you’re right!
I’m building a house and have been so overwhelmed with trying to figure out what my style is. This is the absolute best video I’ve found to help me stay focused. I’m kinda like Dory (finding Nemo) when it comes to decorating. I love everything. Great job!!!

I have some time off work due to a holiday that I don't celebrate. This video was suggested to me at the absolutely perfect time.
I love the mix of industrial and boho decor, because I find it's cool and cozy too🤗
This video is on another LEVEL girl!! 👏🏻 sooo underrated. You put so much work and knowledge into this and it is so obvious!
Thank you so much 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing this information. It was very thorough and detailed. Girl, you should have your own show on HGTV. I learned a lot from this video. Great job!!
I love the Scandinavian style, functional yet simplistic and clean
This is so, so clear, organized and HELPFUL to those of us who want to decorate but have zero idea how to start.
Totally a mix of Boho, modern farmhouse and industrial!
I'm such a victim of buying things I love.. then realizing it doesn't go with my room at all 😅 haha, def gonna start a journal for my next project!
I do that ALL THE TIME lol 😂
Emily Zapotocny I have the same problem...or worse things I don’t use .
So me. I've been lusting after this houndstooth arm chair and it goes with nothing in my living room 😄😄
same lol

You have so much knowledge and share it so beautifully and easily. Thank you, Macenna.
Nothing as hard as defining your style when you like everyone of them
The journal is so me and so helpful! I swear by Benjamin Moore too. THANKS! 💖🦩

I enjoyed seeing the walk through of the different styles! My favorite is boho with some mid-century modern elements!

I love seeing what defines the different interior decor styles. Very informative!
you are like a sunshine! I love your positivity!
SO HELPFUL TYSM
I LOVED that you touched on pretty much every main design style! I’m torn in this new house with rooms like the kitchen and the laundry room because they are so modern but I love a more vintage boho style!
Cohesion is best
I wouldn't have rooms too different. Figure out how to blend different styles that will work together. Especially common or publiv rooms or rooms that can be seen through open doorways. It can be very jarring. I've been in houses like that and stayed there or worked there as a contractor. There isn't any type of comfort to it. I could see maybe a Frog common done in a complete different style or kids room. These are areas people aren't exposed too.
I do each room different
3 words : you are GENIUS..thanks girl ♥️♥️♥️
Now this the way to integrate a sponsorship in a video!! So helpful 🤍🤍
Thanks, now I know. Boho for sure. Need to make this with coastal. Getting ready to fix a fishing beach house.
One of the best informative videos I've ever seen. Thank you. I'll be saving this one.
I hadn't heard of modern traditional before and it totally fits my style!
Incredible! I need you in my life!!!!
Thanks for this video! I needed this since I plan on redoing my room soon 🤗
Loved this video! It's super helpful! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you!
Thank you. You make a lot of sense. Told me exactly where to start with my home office.
This helped a lot actually! If you could do more videos like this going into different styles that would be awesome!!
This was really helpful! Since I started watching your videos I have been so inspired to thrift (once things are back open) and rethink my existing decor in rooms! You do a great job with your channel. :)
Yay!! That makes me so happy 🥰
I love your DIYs and you inspire me. Thanks for the tips
🥰
You’re an excellent speaker! I enjoy your videos immensely.

So true! I freakin love boho!!🥰🥰
Your kitchen looked so good in that darker green!!
This video is so inspirational and now I have a clearer idea of how to redo my room! Definitely very informative
I see you got your third bed pillow stuffed! --- Looks great - I love the sewing detail - so subtle, yet so unique!
So many great tips and explanations anyone can use! This is so practical and helpful. So many experts seem to neglect this kind of content. Thanks :)

That was so helpful!! I'm a combo but definitely lean more towards one than the other and have a much better idea for my next place. Thanks!!
What a great video! Thank you so much. As everything you present I loved it! Hugs.
I’m not good at remembering colors, so the purse sized portfolio is a great idea for me. I have bought plenty of things that just didn’t go where I expected! Thank you
This video was so helpful!!! I'm actually redoing some rooms in my house right now. Thank you so much! I love your videos!!!

you went above and beyond with the mood-boards 🖤 really appreciate the work/effort ... love this video! during this time that we're isolated in our homes and actually living them the urge for makeovers/reno/update is increasing a lot ... very informative and aesthetically pleasing video! hugs from Puerto Rico 🌴☀️🌊
Honestly I love all your videos so much and this one was SO helpful. You are awesome!
What an education! I like a combo of styles. Your use of the term “curate” helps me know what I need to remove and what can stay. 😊
Thank you. This was the best I have seen on this subject. Will you show us how to make that graph chart of the rooms? What does each box mean? How do we make it proportional to the room? Thanks from your new subscriber.
I've been stuck for months!!! Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏 you're a genius!
Soooo happy to be able to check out your contents!! I sooo love! So many learnings every videoooo😍😍😍
Hahah yay!! 🥰
