    I would have coated some hi temperature grease over that big rod / bolt that you hammered through the motor and frame. I'd hate to have problems trying to remove that bolt if needed.

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  6 років тому +1

      +Island Dreaming the instructions didn't say anything and I sincerely did not think about that, good point, maybe I'll pull it out and grease it up

    • @islanddreaming8591
      @islanddreaming8591 6 років тому +2

      Yeah Man , you will be needing to remove those bars if ever you have to work on the bike to remove engine parts , covers etc, or maybe if the bars ever get bent and cause a problem , or require repairs or, repainting.
      I'd be treating that long bolt no different than your swing arm bolt , and note it probably will get hot too, as it passes so close to the engine which is why I suggested Hi Temp grease so it doesn't melt away. Cheers :)

      I installed a set of SW-Motech bars on my scrambler a while back and they require the engine frame bolt replacement as well. Note I made the same mistake at first with the jack pushing a bit too hard making the bolt hard to remove. However, if you take some time and get the jack just right so it is holding the engine up floating but not lifting any on the bike frame at the same time you can push that bolt in and out with the strength of your little finger. But yes some grease or anti seize probably would not be a bad idea though in the long run.

      That is a good question - but the rod that came out was dry, wasn't it? It was a different metal, and coating, but that should be dry steel on steel and not a problem coming out later I think.

    I would not have tried this without your help and it turned out a rousing success. The tip on using the jack to support the motor and the advice to bend the gear shift lever were critical pieces that I would not have put together on my own. Gracias for all you do, Carlos Paz

    Hi Albe! How good are these at protecting the exhaust pipe? Any chance the tank can be scratched with GIVI installed during a drop or handlebars will prevent it? I noticed the shape is sort of diamond... And, I love your videos and appreciate the effort you put to share your experience!

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  3 роки тому +1

      The front of the exhaust is protected, but the muffler might get scratched. There is always a chance, but the handlebars should prevent it.

    Great tutorial, thanks. One question : do you really need a jack to hold the motor in place if the big Givi rod simply replaces the Ducati one ? I mean, since the new one is taking the place of the original one, normally, nothing should move, right?

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  2 роки тому +1

      Nothing really moves much, the reason for jacking the engine up is so the new rod slides in easily, otherwise it kind of drags a bit

      @@AlbesADV I spent 3 hours struggling with these engine guards.
      The right hand side, perfect, no problem.
      The left side, impossible to install: the holes of the protection did not fit in front of the screw holes of the bike. Some 3-4 millimetres, but still...
      I think they had a defect.

    Thank you very much for an excellently helpful video!
    At 4:30 in the video, you mentioned a washer that May slide out and it needs to be put back. Is there a washer also for the bolt on the left side of the engine, or that similar bolt goes through the side-stand mount?

  • @A555-t3m
    @A555-t3m 4 роки тому

    Very informative thanks. I know that the instructions probably dont call for it, but is there a reason why you didnt use blue thread locker on any of the bolts? Seems like it could only help.

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  4 роки тому +1

      Hi A 555, the big nut is self locking, the little bolts upfront already have treadlock on them and the medium and the instructions don't call for any more treadlock, but some blue treadlock won't hurt if you use it. 👍

    Ciao Albe,
    vorrei montare anch'io il paramotore Givi ma ho già installato il paracoppa Evotech.
    A prima vista sembrerebbe compatibile ma non ne sono così sicuro per via degli spazi stretti, secondo te posso cavarmela con piccole modifiche di piegatura sul paracoppa?

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  6 років тому

      La barra del paramotore che passa davanti al motore, passa esattamente dove è posizionato il paracoppa, quindi, o tagli e estendi il paramotore, o tagli il paracoppa. Io toglierò un paio di centimetri dal paracoppa e lo dividerò in due pezzi e vediamo che succede, in bocca al lupo.

    Hi Albe. Your videos are very informative and helpful. I tried installing the Give on my new Scrambler but the holes were misaligned to the point where it could not be salvaged. ua-cam.com/video/tchTBWtCLmk/v-deo.html
    I'm going to give up on this brand and try the SW Motech instead. Could you please tell me where you got the torque setting at 6:40 of your video? Its not in the Givi instructions. I need to put the factory bolt back in and need to know the torque setting. When I removed it it seemed higher than the 36Nm you are indicating....

      Unless you are licensed mechanic I would not work on someone else's bike. There is to much liability that can come back to haunt you. Instead have the person buy the parts and "help" them with their mods, just a few bikers hanging out and workn on motorcycles
