  • This film documents Small Steps returning to the dump site in Phnom Penh, which was visited a year earlier. It shows the consequence of closing an inhabited dump, and the positive effect this can have. It shows how Small Steps helped those who were left behind.
The film also introduces a new inhabited dump four hours from Phnom Penh in the tourist town of Sihanoukville, where Small Steps distributed vital aid to the families living there.

Thank you so much for your benevolent act of kindness. Our family escaped from the Khmer Rouge genocide. I’m currently an RN in the USA. I would love to join you next time you visit Cambodia. I would love to give medical care to these people

The smiles are contagious and they come with No cost involved. Happiness on that level in those conditions, I have no words for.

I first visited Cambodia in 2013, and again in 2014 and was left both inspired and heart broken by the suffering that I witnessed, and the strength of character and beauty that radiates from this ravaged land and her People.
I did what I could but left feeling like I could have done more.
I will be returning to Sihanoukville in March 2015, for four days and was hoping if you could tell me how I could best do my part to help, and if so, to whom?
Given, I will be there only briefly I would like to assist, financially, as many worthwhile charities as US$1000 will allow?
Any assistance in these regards would be greatly appreciated.
Ah kuhn trau for your time, and God bless you.
    Warm regards,
    Jason:-)

People from developed countries think that anything free comes with a cost. The ability to give freely is something many are thankful for. Those who criticize could learn a thing or two by going without say food for 3+ days or giving time to charities or if they are able devote a % of their income to creating a pathway to a brighter future, may God bless you all 🙏 With God Nothing is impossible!

Even we can not help all of the slums in Many areas but to release one small kid from starving, God will reward you
And help strengthen your hands to reach out more in future
God see the heart ( right motive)

What if the person is stopping the kid from starving for their own motives. Many children get fattened up, plump, only to mysteriously get lost in a kitchen never to be found again. There is a growing child-eating tourism exploitation see the historic sites and eat some kids tours of Asia. How does the almighty scratch that up? Asking for a friend.

everyone who goes to Cambodia should take their unwanted clothing for these people ,, this is appauling in this day and age , collect clothing from your friend before you go and give away when you see someone that needs something

    • @ianlogan6632
      @ianlogan6632 3 роки тому

Clothing? The chief export here are garments! It’s bloody hot. A set of clothes cost $2! Bring cash! Water is expensive, washing powder, toothpaste and brushes. Consumables take a big chunk from the family budget. Housing is cheap/free -build where you can out of salvage. Mosquito nets don’t last long in a hut full of kids. I am not slapping you down, just adjusting the device of your good intentions. Everything is available here. Everything is a fraction of the cost as overseas. 50c for a pack of cigarettes, 1 $ for a cooked meal. Fake designer labels for n0thing! Cash is transferable. Clothes are pointless.

@@wazagarf8796 I hope you didn’t read my comment as an attack. It was not meant to be. I understand your good intentions, no doubts. But the easiest, most crucial any thing to bring, is cash. Everything is cheap and available, here, from software, through pharmaceuticals, school book and materials, you name it. The price of these essentials is trivial; the need is endless.
I don’t want helpers to feel deflated after making a lot of effort in vain, is all.

So sad to see my khmer people still living below poverty. Why don't the government step up and do something? Where are the humanitarian aids? Children's sgavaging trash in exchange for daily food. Why do we need government for?

I was there 15 years ago and it was a nice place. Went back 2 months ago and it is a complete shit hole full of trash and massive chinese construction with no regard for the local population. Bye bye for western tourism. I'll never go back, so sad.
