Big video! I love your longer videos so much! Euron is obviously very much aware of the Azor Ahai prophecy, and he indeed will succeed in bringing the apocalypse, but I really do not see him doing exactly what he thinks will achieve. Euon has found a prophecy and follows it, and prophecies do not work like that, the more you try the more you get away. So, even though I think he is the catalyst for the long night, I think that he will not be reborn like he thinks he will. From the way Mel is talking about R'hollor, both he and the great other want to fight, and they have to fight, thus Mel's visions about Oldtown. Euron being an Azor Ahai figure makes sense because everyone else wants to stop the long night, but he knows that it must happen. That being said I am fairly sure he, in his shade visions, watches the other two heads as well and thinks of himself, making him obsessed. Euron will be the third head, the head that will bring the Night because the night has to come, but Euron will not be the one being reborn most likely.
`Epic! vidya from you today, as well! Euron is the perfect example of unchecked hubris and a "Messiah Complex". His Pride will be his undoing, but only after he ruins things for everyone else, and lets them clean up the mess. It's more fun that way. He's the "gadfly", Entropy, Trickster that keeps the "Prophecy" from going strictly "according to plan". I think Vikky may help to take him out somehow too. His VS armor and axe are just too badass to only kill Normies. Cheers & Tschuss!
@@CompanyOfTheCat He is literally wielding a "firearm"....get it? Oh, GRRM :) Plus, his name means "Victor"/Winner/Champion, so he has to defeat someone/something very EPIC! GRRM hasn't given him so many cool weapons and so few brain cells not to use them to the fullest :) Cheers & Tschuss!
@@KarlKarsnark also worth mentioning that Victarion is GRRM's favorite character! He says so in his interview to "History of Westeros" for example. That was a shocker to me because for the longest time I thought it was Tyrion, but there it is! Also Tschuss :)
@@Li_Tobler He gave him the coolest name and all the coolest toys, he has to to something cool with them. I guess the only question is if there is a "redemption arc". Taking out Euron, along with himself, will help Theon/Osha reclaim the Iron Islands. That way he's not 100% bad 100% of the time, which is just boring. Vielen Dank!
We also find "screaming hinges" as the doors to the winterfell crypts are opened as well in ADWD, a place heavily associated with dragons and stone beings foreshadowed to wake, a place which has been also been hit by lightning like Queenscrown, with the castle also being described as being a labyrinth or maze as well, and the crypts are directly below the tower of the first keep "When they did, the door was frozen shut. Her serjeant had to go find an axe before he could pull it open, hinges screaming, to reveal stone steps spiraling down into darkness." Another excellent video, well done!
Very interesting and then we have all the stone kings coming to life. This could be symbolism or another place of ascending. If there are three heads now, there were three heads during the long night.
"Screaming Hinge" could also be a play on "Screaming HENGE" which GRRM has hinted at many times. Every hinge indicates "a henge"/magic place. The trees themselves are also "(silent) Screaming Henges", as well. The sound itself is also a "shriek"/warning to the folks in the book and to us as readers to pay attention to the places where they occur.
@@TheDisputedLandsWhich is technically what happens to Bran. There is of course his Fall and resulting coma. But, Bran is hiding in the crypts, with the dead for a time. He leaves the crypts (figuratively coming back from death) to find the dead Ironborn (salt) and sacked castle (smoke). And for whatever it was, a winged snake does rise from the Old Keep. Dany's dream is strangely similar. Kings in faded with swords along a hall. Contrast that with a hall of grey stone kings with swords. I believe this is something you seem to be describing. Parallel narratives that uniquely play out with an underlying shared structure. Not that they are explicitly connected based on it, simply that it's there illustrates the form allowing us to predict how it will play out when we see it somewhere else.
@@KarlKarsnark yes very true mate, the screaming weirwood idea is right on point I think, seeing as through they are doors of a sort as well, a door which may have been opened with Nissa Nissas death and the resulting “scream” or “wail” we often see around nissa nissa figures, thinking this door may have been opened as a result of her death, giving us a “screaming hinge” as the door is opened
Great stuff! An addition: if Euron has been to Valyria and was changed by the experience, then he was literally reborn amidst salt and smoke. The smoking sea.
Truly excellent work in this vid. I long considered Euron as a potential third head of the dragon due to the dragon binder horn and seeming confluence of his arc with the NK concept we saw on GoT. But certainly also makes sense as yet another AA figure. Especially considering the dark side around that legend , i.e. killing his wife for his own self aggrandizing / power upgrade of sorts. Euron as an AA figure explores that darker side of that role / legend. And with the seeming AA / Bloodstone Emperor crossover (BSE who did many horrible things, some of which EG echoing) , AA could have very well caused the Long Night which seems to be what Euron is doing via his breaking the world aims. Very interesting stuff and great catches with the "rusty hinge" references. Euron's dabbling very well could open a door that will likely overwhelm / consume him in a very Lovecraftian way. Rusty hinge may be hinting at that moment. Def body-snatching potential at play when EG opens that door. Very interesting and necessary to explore the dark side of AA which def seems to be there. Jon and Dany will fulfill the role in attempting to save the world (and already fill other criteria) whereas Euron quite the opposite trying to bring the darkness / break the world. Its also possible this duality was at work with the actual AA ; AA may have caused the Long Night and later helped end it as atonement. Jon and Dany one side of that , Euron very much the other. And Euron who has been to Asshai surely well aware of this mythos (AA is the Asshai version of that hero myth) seems to be working a formula to try and fill that role. Focusing on facilitating the darker side of it especially (bringing a cold darkness) and hitting other criteria to help bring forth his own transformation as AA. Though hopefully goes very much not as he plans.
I'm very happy you mentioned the lovecraftian connection to the rusted iron hinge. If you look deeper into it, you will find some VERY interesting things.😉
@@TheDisputedLands i agree a lot of Lovecraftian themes and further potential for much more with EG's arc as it progresses , rusty hinge included. I really appreciated you exploring the darker side of the legend / role of AA via Euron. Often we notice AA is clearly not totally good (even more so with the BSE crossover) based on the mythos but still mostly focus on the savior aspect. This vid really opened my eyes that of the multiple AA figures - Dany & Jon will be the savior AA's and Euron could be embodying the darker side of that legend. With EG trying to break the world / bring the cold darkness which of course that aspect would appeal to EG , which it seems he is trying to forcibly manifest. This vid really matches ups and works well , as i said in my comment this duality could have been at work with the actual AA. In that he may have caused the Long Night but also later may have helped end it as atonement. Though in the current timeline iteration this duality / dichotomy will manifest across multiple AA figures (lining up on either side of the legend) rather than all in one , which may have been the case with the original AA.
A new TDL vid = i click , i Like , i watch (usually multiple times) and very often mind blown. Always great to get content from you Amanda , especially of the long form variety ; can't wait to get into this right now. I always say whenever Amanda gives us content the quality is always absolutely top notch. I'll take quality over quantity everyday of the week. Keep up the great work Amanda , def one of my favorite ASoIaF content creator / theorists out there. Look forward to enjoying this right now.
Noting the "Yronwood" involved in Quentin's quest and that ironwood and weirwood are connected, perhaps "screaming iron hinges" is Euron forcibly cracking open a stone-old weirwood. The "Iron" Throne drinks the blood of kings who sit on it just as a weirwood drinks blood from the kingly greenseers.
All the evidence was there and my jaw can't leave the ground now after that! You are such a gift to the community and the universe Amanda. Amazingly put together! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For the time and effort you put in to make every single one of your videos the most amazing analyses the world of ASOIAF has to offer. Crowfoods muthaf@#*°×! Daughter yo!
Been watching a lot of David Lighbringer’s videos and this video really seems to plug a lot of the holes of his more general theories about Euron. Thanks for a great video!
Oh my god, I guess I have no choice but to believe this now even though I'd very much like anyone else to be Azor Ahai 🥲 Thanks for the great explanation! Also I hate how Aeron recalls opening doors and rusted hinges when thinking about his brother. Euron's a truly horrifying character on every level.
EPIC vidya! Yes, I agree Euron will be the "Third Head". Dany having 3 dragons is too powerful and she and Jon only need 2 for themselves. Euron is the only one with a personality/horn that could steal/tame a dragon, as well. He also needs some sort of land/sky weapon as his ships/kraken can't do much from the water. Showing both "worthy" and "unworthy" riders is a great way to make a nice steaming Dragon Lore Dump too. He's the classic example of "Pride (going) before destruction and an haughty spirit before a Fall." His death can also open up a possibility for Osha to be Queen of the Iron Islands. Who knows, maybe Vikky will even use his VS armor and axe to help take out a crazy, dragon-riding Euron, or something cool like that.
Honestly I would pay cold hard cash to see vic and euron destroy each other on page. Best ending ever Vic is the underdog but I'm rooting for his dumb ass.
@@TheDisputedLands It's has lots of GRRMy "equal but opposite" motifs to it, as well. Smart v. Dumb; Metal vs. Magic; Brother v. Brother, etc...I really do think Theon, as his name implies, will be the new Drowned Priest, which means Osha can be Queen and the bros can take each other out. The "Greyjoy" name/line may die according to the old rules, but so will many others, it seems. Cheers!
I’m headed back to listen to the two related videos you have suggested before I listen to this one for a second time, as it has been quite awhile since I first listened to the other two videos that are referenced here. Your videos are always so detailed, combining many references to back up what you are suggesting, with direct links to the evidence and other clues regarding your assertions. It’s been quite a while since you posted any new ASOIAF videos. Although the initial season of House of the Dragon gave us a number of excellent new videos from your channel. I have never completed either of the two series that you reference in this video, being the lengthy Wheel of Time series or the trilogy of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, despite hearing great things about both series and understanding that they are among the numerous sources of inspiration for George R.R. Martin in the development of ASOIAF. The Wheel of Time series has me listening to the audiobooks, with the Kindle version for accompaniment right now. I began listening to the audiobooks after the second season appeared to be a significant improvement over the first season, which devoted readers of Wheel of Time found disappointing in a fairly universal consensus. Rosamund Pike, the actor who plays Moiraine in the series is narrating a new set of the audiobooks. So I’m going to keep up with the series as they release each of her audio versions. Hearing the frequent references to the Dragon Reborn and the battle on Dragon Mont continue to give me a jolt of ASOIAF feelings when ever it happens. But I never expected I would find a fantasy world more complicated than ASOIAF. I’m continually referencing the stories’ maps and fan wiki’s to try and keep up. I had tried to get through the first book of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn a while back. But for some reason it just didn’t hold my interest. But I have heard several ASOIAF creators make interesting connections between important ideas in both series. I like the idea that the Elves in MST, and their magical swords are likely an inspiration for what is happening at the heart of the story of the Others. And that they both share inspiration from the ancient Irish mythology of the Sidhe. I guess I want to take another stab at getting through MST. I am always so glad to see new ideas, or the building on of older ideas, from any of the channels I consider the best of the ASOIAF fandom. ASOIAF is lucky to have so many wonderful, dedicated and knowledgeable fans. While there are a few channels from the “golden age” of ASOIAF that continue to make regular videos and/or other content, it is always a treat when any of the other ASOIAF creators add something new to their material, as we continue to wait for new content from the author himself. The second season of House of the Dragon and the development of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms should give us a slew of new content to enjoy in addition to the adaptations themselves. I’m hoping we will see additional new content from your channel amongst it all.
SPOILERS! Haha glad I read MS+T before this video, cause it's good. I mean both. Thanks for your work! In reference to the dragon coming out of a smoking stone tower, it could reference Jon as a baby coming out of the smouldering tower of joy, young Griff coming from one of the two in westeros he takes, Euron from the hightower... In the way that Dany, Davos, Tyrion, Jon, Arya, the mountain, the hound, Sansa, the boar that kills BobbyB, and many more satisfy the rebirth in salt and smoke etc etc. It's pretty great
You do such an AMAZING job Amanda. Thank you for continuing to make great videos, discuss very smart theories, putting together your evidence... LOVE IT 🐲🔥🧡🐦⬛
Great video Amanda as usual. Amongst the ASOIAF UA-cam, community l think you are the only one that I know of, who listens to other UA-camrs, think through their arguments - add your original thought - check link of logic and then present. 👍👍👍👍
I think something very interesting to consider here is how Melisandre refers to the wall in ADWD: Jon 1: “we walk beneath one of the hinges of the world.” This always struck me as reminiscent of the horrific story with Aeron and the iron hinge. I’m not sure even fully what this would mean or how likely it is that they are connected, but I think it’s something to think about in regards to the theme of hinges. Mel also speaks about the great spells locked away in the ice. Maybe this connects to the horn of winter In some way, opening the hinge of the world, freeing the spell or dragon trapped in ice
It is my belief that the hinges of the world are also metaphorical gateways. Germany likes the door metaphor when speaking about magical thin places. It was a theme in the lonely song of loren dorr what grem calls a precursor to asoiaf and also a theme in a TV pilot called doorways that he wrote but never got picked up for broadcast.
WOW!!! Great video! I disagree that Euron will be the third head of the dragon. I think Euron will become something that the dragon with 3 heads will have to defeat. Danny, John and Tyrion.
Now when talking about Azor Ahai you first need to know the history of House Dane. I believe there are two parts. The first part is what we know of the house Dane that the followed a Star to where it fell and from it the created the a sword, they call the "Sword of the Morning". But other half of the story come from the Red Priestess of Asshai. They say that the last hero or Azor Ahai when to the children of the forest and they told him how to make a Sword of the Morning to stop the White Walkers. It was a Lord Dane that forge that sword from a fallen Star, and then plunged it into the heart of his wife Nissa, Nissa. This is what created the "Sword of the Morning" and it is she that choose her wielder.
The most conclusive summary video about that topic I've seen so far. I've come to similar conclusions, but I've never undertaken such an effort to compile all the evidence. Two questions regarding related topics: - How do you think about Euron being a secret greenseer/Bloodraven's failed apprentice? After all, you mentioned the story about his flight dreams, and this is frequently interpreted as support for this theory due to its similarity to Bran's coma vision. - How do you think about the theory that the Ironborn partly descend from sailors s from the GEotD, as brought forward by LML and others? Might that give them (including Euron) some diluted dragon ancestry? It's maybe in your older videos, but asking directly is probably faster than rewatching all of them! 😉
I don't think the spirit of bloodraven has been visiting him. I believe it has been the spirit of Azor Ahai/Night's King the whole time. In the wheel of time lews speaks to Rand inside his head and refers to the voice as "Him". And yes, I believe the grey king came from abroad which was covered in my ironborn series as well as my mazemaker video discussing huzhor amai and the base of the hightower.
@@TheDisputedLands Maybe the two theories regarding who visited Euron are not mutually exclusive - for instance, being visited by Bloodraven in the past might have just opened Eurons third Eye and enabled him to be contacted by AA in the first place. For me personally, the symbolic parallels between Euron and Bloodraven are just to strong to be ignored. I remember that you provided good evidence that the Grey King came from across the sea. What I don't remember is whether you expanded on a possible link between him and dragon's blood/the GEotF, and whether this, as an extension, might aplly to the Ironborn as a whole. Regarding your video about Huzhor Amai, I only remember that you link him to the origin of the Lengii, but I don't remember a connection between them and the Ironborn. I will rewatch all your videos when my mind is not occupied with my thesis anymore, but for now I prefer to ask directly! ;)
Great video. As always. I'm not sure if my audio config was off, but the audio was only coming from one side. And the background music only came for a few seconds.
Its really old audio. I made this video three years ago and never posted it. I had to fix a few things going back to it after the fact, but I think I made it worse😬. Oops! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TheDisputedLands@TheDisputedLands you're forbidden from apologising. You can't release quality content like that and apologise. Ever! Hahah It really doesn't matter whether the audio comes out of one earphone. Thank you for your work.
AWESOME video! With all of Viserion's ice dragon and vampire symbolism plus the association with the screaming hinges, i can't resist predicting Viserion will end up with Euron one way or the other -- in some form. Also, Euron's talk of 'flying' could be meant in the same sense as it is for Bran -- i.e. warging. David Lightbringer and others think only someone with the blood of the dragon can fly a dragon. Being descended of the Empire of the Dawn dragonlords could be enough for Euron to do it. But if not, and he doesn't mount a dragon, I think he'll warg Viserion after summoning him to the tower at Oldtown. Personally I think the latter is more likely
Hey thanks. Yes I agree for dragon bond dragonblood is generally needed, however if you are being body snatched by the soul of a powerful ancient Dragonlord, I believe euron's descent won't really matter. Although I do believe the grey king did descend from the GEOTD.
Yey! New video! And a long one! Double joy! 😁 And you've made me think about relistening to Memory Sorrow and Thorn. It's been like 20 years since I've read it, i only remember it was interesting and plot twisty and that it was the first time i listened to an audiobook read by an American with a very American accent and had to restart it several times because the accent was so disturbing to my brain i couldn't pay attention properly.😅 It felt like listening to a robot, for some reason. It was probably coming after a long span of Discworld listens, and the difference from Steven Briggs' accent must have been jarring. I remember I actually looked to check it was a human reader, thought i must have come across some synthetiser version or something. 😅 I guess that ruined the books a bit for me, since it stuck in my mind so strongly, along with a few other things that inexplicably were forever linked to that series in my head. Idk why, but the image of a starving Simon biting into an onion and finding it juicy and delicious is what to this day my brain still uses as it's first reference when MS&T is brought up.😅 I was thinking for a long time that this Azor Ahai prophecy is pretty creepy, especially how it talks about death bowing, and people who die in the service of Azor Ahai being reborn... that screams "whites" from a mile off. I'm half expecting a battle between 2 armies of whites, with the few remaining living running for it! 😅 I am so curious about how this is going to actually play out! What the Hightowers in the tower will do, what they've been up to locked in there all this time with books of magic. They've got to do something during the battle for Old Town. And how Euron is planning to get Vyserion by remote possession. What's the deal with Victarion's hand? What's Maquoro plan in all this? Can't wait to find how how it all fits together! But all the speculation in the meantime is almost as much. Fingers crossed GRRM will give us the long awaited answers soon! 😅
Believe it all began from a westeros.org post from 2012 by a poster named lord varys. Radio westeros also did a great job covering the topic years ago. Definitely a great catch, but not mine.
First off, I LOVE all your videos, and you're bang on the comparisons between the Bloodstone Emperor and Euron, but I just don't see Euron SUCCEEDING. Dragon horns aside, you need Targaryen/Valyrian blood to bond with a dragon...otherwise any sorcerer could have done it before the doom, no? Hightower definitely has some valyrian/dragon connect....be it fused stone or the silver haired members...Euron maybe know everything in theory...but dragon's blood is dragon's blood.
History repeats. but never exactly. Time keeps coming back to the same place on the wheel, but there are small important details that are different in each ---ahh- iteration(?). Those details seem to make the difference in how the next post struggle period takes shape, like dialectics in social theory of historic trends... Anyway that's the picture I am getting.
While I hate the idea of Euron making any progress, I do like about the idea that azor ahai being three with one part being evil mainly for how it reads on the human psyche / society / etc. If fire represents chaos/passion and ice is the impulse for order/discipline, both need to work together to keep pride/greed/hubris from wreaking havoc. Except I would expect some kind of positive quality to the third aspect (like how fire and ice can both be destructive but compliment each other) and so far Euron is lacking... except maybe his being a champion of freedom? Anyway, great work! Thanks for taking the time to lay out this theory in such a convincing way...
Utterly impeccable work; your best,by far, in years. Wonderful, insightful, thorough, and well cited. I cannot stop thinking of some of these points. Brava!!!
This really expanded on some theories I was familiar with. I can't wait for WoW! On a somewhat related note, I hope we get to see the Hightower in HotD with the beacon lit with "baleful green" wildfire. Maybe some apocalyptic earthquake foreshadowing? Maybe a throwaway line about giants? Perhaps all the Azor Ahai-esque kinslaying will be done by Euron after all. No need for Jon or Dany (or Bran) to bring that curse upon themselves. That being said, I don't see how Young Griff is just going to go away without a fight. Maybe Cercei will kill him so Dany doesn't have to. Maybe a willful sacrifice by Bran, Jon, or Dany will need to happen. Any of them might make a heroic sacrifice to defeat not just the Others, but Euron. Jon has already died once, but he might need to make another sacrifice of some kind. Bran as the Oak King/Garth the Green figure has sacrifice built in to his archetype. Dany could also turn her back on the Iron Throne and do something heroic to stop Euron/The Others. What do y'all think? Whatever happens, it won't be like the show!
definitely check out my followup video where I discuss the hightower and how this magical ceremony will be performed! I have seen so many people discuss willing vs unwilling sacrifices lately and Ive been in the fandom a long time so I can spot a trend. Im curious if there was a video or essay discussing willing vs unwilling sacrifices that was published recently?
@@TheDisputedLands Not particularly. I watched your other video too! Great work I just decided to comment generally here. I've been listening to a lot of LML and Grey Waste Tim talk. They have mentioned Dany sacrificing herself and maybe Jon, but no one else. I just started thinking about Oak King Holly King, Green Man, Christianity, Egyptian myth, etc about Sacrificing life. Willing vs unwilling sacrifice in the context of ASOIAF would be a worthwhile video 😉
Jon reaches into the flame in Game to save Mormont. That can be seen as a mirroring as well. With the Night's King, he reigned for 13 years, just like the Last Hero and his 12 companions, but Joruman keeps sticking out in my mind. When was the Wall built? If you look at the House of the Undying, it has an 8 sided well, just as the Nightfort has an 8 sided kitchen, and a very similar magic door. The Nightfort existed before the Wall, and serves as a copy. Craster was a Night's King archetype, sacrificing his children, but if the Night's Watch are brothers, then the Lord Commander is the father, sacrificing his men in battle. Better put, he is the Night's King. Joruman was regarded as a King beyond the Wall, a well-known story in the North. So why are the Wildlings seen as evil? There is the Horn of Joruman to authenticate that story, but the Night's King still doesn't make sense. Jon definitely gives off some really strong future King beyond the Wall, Night's King ruling from the Nightfort vibes, and hears his name, King Snow called in his lightbringer dream... I think it was that dream. And the last thing, two things that I still struggle with are 1) dragons don't fly beyond the Wall. 2) Dany never dreams of going north of the Trident. She has the dream of the blue rose growing from the Wall, but that doesn't make her present there. Jon never dreams about going south of Winterfell. I feel that Jon's plot got convoluted with fAegon's plot since has was not included, even though Jon Con's plot was with Jorah getting Grey scale. But you hit on something yet again in these videos about the prophecies concerning holy blood. Who is holy, close to Jon? We all know that Shireen and very likely Ghost will be sacrificed. If Melisandra just happens to get tossed into the fire by a disapproving wildling, that would wake a wolf from ice to be reborn as more than a wight. Ever since the show brought Jon and Dany together, everyone has been waiting for it in the books, forgetting that the dragons refuse to go beyond, and even though they have both been given premonitions of the other, there has been little, if any indication that they will do much together. Look at the King's guard. Though they do have serious Other symbolism like David Lightbringer suggests, they are the equal and opposite of the Night's Watch. When Ned leaves the brothel after finding Robert's daughter, he relives the Tower of... "Joy" with Jaime Lannister. The dichotomies of the story are just as important. If blood is so powerful that it can produce magic, then Jon's being a Stark in appearance takes precedence over being a Targaryen. The Song is of Ice and Fire, and is very much the conflict of the American Civil War as well. He has the wolf's blood, just as Dany has the blood of the Dragon. Dragon or no dragon, the show did a great job at messing with the story that some of us have been reading since 1996. Jon and Dany stand more of a chance at being at each other's throats from the beginning and staying that way than they do being allies, let alone lovers. So many things had been set up in the books, such as Dany and fAegon, or Euron, and Jon and Val. Every Stark that rides south never returns, so Jon will have learned from Ned and Rob's mistakes. If you made it this far in my ramblings, thank you for not making it about how great it will be when Jon becomes a fire wight that subverts the Ice part of the story, and the love story of Jon and Dany. I could be wrong about their romance, but "broad strokes" could mean anything at this point, and I'd prefer for George to tell me what those are. I am really enjoying your lore videos. At this point, I'd venture to say that you are putting out the best content, really looking at the source material and Investigating everything, instead of what I'm seeing too much of now, which borders on fictional conspiracy creation theory.
Fentastic video. Do you think the fulfilment of the prophecy has anything to do with Victarion and the dragonhorn? Victarion is described as somewhat dead at the end of his chapter and his helm's similar to the beast moqorro has described in his prophecy. Maybe it's *Victarion's body that Euron will steal* and using the horn he'll steal a dragon too.
40:54 there are a TON of WoT references in the Dorn chapters in particular. Helps to keep in mind that the Rand, the Dragon Reborn, is a polygamist too. Slots right into the Targ lifestyle tbh.
Now this is import to understand. You see Ned Stark fell madly in love with Lady Ashara Dane. He married her and had a son Jon. However, when Ned's brother was murder by the Mad King he sudden became the head of House Stark. To gain the alliance of the Lord of the Riverlands he forced Lord Ned Stark to divorce his wife and set aside his baby Jon, and marry his brother bride Lady Catenlyn Tully to form an alliance to overthrow the Mad King. However, if this is true Jon Snow is the first born son of Ned Stark is also able to wield the "Sword of the Morning" and become "Azor Ahai"
I like your analysis and find it sound, and thus I have begun to follow you. That said, I disagree about Euron being the third head of the dragon, although I think he thinks he is, and the books leave clues about that, same as with Faegon, etc. But he’s another fool following prophecy. What gives me pause in what we think we know about this third person is the many “faces” of this sphinx, which leads me not to Euron but what Arya is becoming as a Many Face recruit. How much George insists to remind us her close bond and likeness to Jon, the Stark children’s Tully and Whent roots, how much Dany thinks of the Starks. And my least fave hint: D&D making her kill the night king, not because I think it will be like they portrayed it, but because George told them key plot points. I think Arya is very important. I think the prophecy speaks about her or someone like her. And, while I don’t need the three heads to be “good”, I do need to root for them in some way. Euron does not accomplish this, IMO.
systematically explained and very convincing -- thank you for a great video! Can't honestly decide if I hope you're right or wrong but it def seems quite plausible ^_^
Yeah... you're right - Euron IS the last character I want to see with a dragon... but I still have more to process before I can make ANY predictions. All these elements. If LML is right and the long night was brought on by a meteor shower (with a few big impacts)... then what will be the impetus for the long night this time. Hard to see how the drama among the peoples is going to effect them cosmically - I'll just keep listening to the rest of your uploads... and it looks like I need to hit a few others too.
I still think Euron is a more likely analog to the Nights King/Mel's Great Other/Naga/Sea Monster archetypes that fight the Drowned God (who is pro -humanity to some extent) than he is to Nissa Nissa, the willing sacrifice offered in love...but he might agree to die because he thinks he will be reborn. I can't see him on dragon if the dragon has any choice in the matter.
He’s the bloodstone emperor reborn and Daenerys is like the Amethyst Empress and her death is what caused the long night. I do see Euron wanting to possibly kill her since Dany is a magical threat to achieving his goal of bringing the apocalypse
This audio is also 3 years old (yes, I made this 3 years ago) so im not sure. I've move two times since then and got a computer. So it could be a difference in any number of settings. But I appreciate your feedback and conment, thanks for watching!!
Great video and theory. I love the connection between king's blood and holy blood, it even ties into the shadow baby, as it could be argued that Stannis is now a Priest King since converting to worship of R'hllor. If this is true, I do wonder about what that could mean for the High Sparrow. Even more than Stannis, he is the most concrete example of a Priest King in the story, and if his death is even a little like his passing in the tv series, that could be a magic ritual of tremendous power, especially if either Tommen or Aegon goes with him. I've felt since the end of the show that either Euron or Cersei or both would attempt to turn KIng's Landing into a 2nd Asshai. Anyway, great work and I eagerly look forward to more.
Im wondering if Euron creates the three headed dragon by blowing the horn and binding Dannys dragons into one. Also expecting a giant ice dragon that either created the wall or is imprisoned in it. Love the speculation on the prophesies. Cant go wrong with Jon, Danny, and Euron having huge parts in the endgame.
I reckon that belief plays a big role in defining what holy blood and kings blood is. Once in the ancient times the king and the faith were one, and people believed him to be a god while now they are apart and the faith is more naturalistic rather than animistic, so kings blood holds less power, since the only belief he carries is that of strength over men, instead of over all. Newborns are the belief of limitless potential, so perhaps eurons apotheosis is fueled by the theatrics of it all paired with the usual bloodbath
3 heads are also 3 points in a scale. So Euron being one of tha heads totally works.Dany will represent the fire of a true heart and Euron Death Jon will b center mass 4 he has blood of tha dragon and tha others.Love your breakdowns and theories. All legit makes sense 💯.
Are not the folk of the Island of Leng tall and striped? That's the Tiger Woman. Additionally they worship watery chthonic deities in that place, so that's a magical bonus added to the expanded land holdings. I don't think he married his sister unless he married her AND the Tiger Woman Queen of Leng.
I'm watching this video for the second time now and I'm still in line with you. Just one thing keeps puzzling me, and I think you haven't addressed it yet if I'm correct: How ist that evil aspect of Azor Ahai preserved, and from where will Euron awaken it? Reincarnation, in contast to resurrection, is not really a thin in ASOIAF, and the closest we get to this is skin changing, which would Euron require to have this power, too. Since I know that you don't believe in this, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this! :)
For how it is preserved check out my mazemaker video, the end of the video discusses the magic within the hightower's fused stone base. Then also check out my next vid in this series that will discuss how euron will accomplish this.
@@TheDisputedLands I watched them before and didn't remember, so I did again - and I'm still not sure whether I get you! 😅 Even if we assume that AA's spirit is trapped in the maze, hiw is that pissible from a technical point of view? I mean, the base of the Hightower is made of dragonstone, not of petrified Schade of the Evening wood. It wouldn't be surprising if SotE preserves memories/spirits/"souls" since its cousins, Weirwoods trees, seem to do exactly this, but we don't have a precedence for other materials doing something similar, or do we?
About Azor Ahai, we know he had different names in different cultures like Huzhor Amai, Hyrkoon the Hero and those name in turn could be related to Andal Hero Hukko or Hugor of the Hill, maybe even Uthor of the High Tower 🤔 but what if Hugor is a clue to Huginn, one of the crows/ravens of Odin? What if Azor Ahai is a dreamer stuck inside a crows body that is waiting to reborn by claiming a new body? That would also explain why TEC connected to Euron as a child
I do believe euron was visited by the spirit of azor ahai. I don't believe bran and euron were visited by the same person. I have a video about the base of the hightower regarding the mazemakers. It seems the mazes are capable of harnessing the magic of the children in opening ones third eye. So if Azor Ahai is locked away, his spirit is probably locked away in the maze itself. Either that or connected to the tree on the adjacent isle of ravens.
@@TheDisputedLandsis it possible for Azor Ahai to be stuck under Winterfell and the white serpent that was seen by Summer when WF burned down was that spirit?
Its possible for the spirit of one of the original three heads to be in the crypts. I often speak about a long night quarrel between the grey king and his brother garth with a stolen woman (nissa nissa)making up this sort of long night trio of drama. I believe the soul of nissa nissa is still inside dawn. So its possible the soul of the brother of this other head of the dragon could be found in the crypts.
@@TheDisputedLandswould Nissa Nissa be the mermaid wife of Grey King or wife of Garth? And if Grey King is Merlimg King, could his mermaid wife be Ursula Upcliff? 🤔
If Azor Ahai is three people, and Melisandre seeks to be shown them, I think each sentence of her vision might relate to a different "head." Obviously the towers by the sea imply Oldtown and the Euron stuff, but is there any way Jon and/or Dany fits the bull for the other two main sentences of the vision, re: the eyeless faces weeping blood and the shadowy skulls and bodies locked in lust, based on where Jon and Dany are at the time Mel is scrying her fires?
Something that wasn't mentioned in the video, but that crossed my mind when writing it.... bodies locked in lust I think might be Melisandre seeing Euron's body being taken over

@@KarlKarsnark Aw thanks! Also yeah, Vic having an arm of fire and thinking that he has to not become a kinslayer, screams future kinslayer.
I am terrified to think of how horrible and power-hungry Azor Ahai would be for Euron to have to look upto him and want to be him. Wonderful analysis.
I too am terrified. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We also find "screaming hinges" as the doors to the winterfell crypts are opened as well in ADWD, a place heavily associated with dragons and stone beings foreshadowed to wake, a place which has been also been hit by lightning like Queenscrown, with the castle also being described as being a labyrinth or maze as well, and the crypts are directly below the tower of the first keep
"When they did, the door was frozen shut. Her serjeant had to go find an axe before he could pull it open, hinges screaming, to reveal stone steps spiraling down into darkness."
Another excellent video, well done!
ELDRIC! I just finished your latest video too! Today has been a good day for the fandom! ❤🎉
I’m happy to see another ASOIAF channel active again during this interminable off season
Absolutely 💯!
Holy crap, the concept of dragonification was hidden right under our noses the entire time
What a day we get today, videos from crowfoods, quinn, company if the cat, and eldric stoneskin? Loving it all
Great stuff!
*"There's your window, leap."* Victarion is as cold as they come.😂
A new TDL vid = i click , i Like , i watch (usually multiple times) and very often mind blown. Thank you Andrew!

I truly think your thoughts and research on ASOIAF are second to none. Love all your videos.
Thank you so much!
Amanda , you and David Lightbringer/ LML are closer with theories than any other ASOIF Theorists! ❤😊😊❤
Hi there, I just posted a video three weeks ago. Be sure to check it out and thanks for watching!
It's pretty great
Disputed Lands NEVER disappoints! Thank you so much for yet another fantastic piece.🌞

The « heir worthy of him » is the Iron Throne. People constantly say « heir to the Iron Throne », which he just referred to before.
If we never see the winds of winter . I'm thankful we had channels like this one .
thank you!!!!!!!!
WOW!!! Great video! I disagree that Euron will be the third head of the dragon. I think Euron will become something that the dragon with 3 heads will have to defeat. Danny, John and Tyrion.
That's too Tolkien like...
I was of same opinion till this video.
Good theory with some compelling possible evidence. I will have to think more about this one
Very interesting thoughts.. thanks for watching and commenting!

@@TheDisputedLands No problem personal I see asoiaf as one of the worlds rand Al thor and the dark one made in their battle through the wheel
As usual an excellent essay. Very much enjoy. Will be replaying this a few times before I ask a couple questions.
The most conclusive summary video about that topic I've seen so far. I've come to similar conclusions, but I've never undertaken such an effort to compile all the evidence. Two questions regarding related topics:
- How do you think about Euron being a secret greenseer/Bloodraven's failed apprentice?
I will rewatch all your videos when my mind is not occupied with my thesis anymore, but for now I prefer to ask directly! ;)
Love love love it! You have such a good eye for symbolism and parallels!

@@TheDisputedLands@TheDisputedLands you're forbidden from apologising. You can't release quality content like that and apologise. Ever! Hahah
It really doesn't matter whether the audio comes out of one earphone. Thank you for your work.
That is interesting about Tad William's MST. I really liked the series, so i'm not surprised GRRM did too.
Idk why, but the image of a starving Simon biting into an onion and finding it juicy and delicious is what to this day my brain still uses as it's first reference when MS&T is brought up.😅
I was thinking for a long time that this Azor Ahai prophecy is pretty creepy, especially how it talks about death bowing, and people who die in the service of Azor Ahai being reborn... that screams "whites" from a mile off. I'm half expecting a battle between 2 armies of whites, with the few remaining living running for it! 😅
I am so curious about how this is going to actually play out! 😅
Fingers definitely crossed!!!!
Damn, "a dozen companions" = 13th lord commander hits so hard. Whether that's your discovery thank you for bringing it to me
Believe it all began from a westeros.org post from 2012 by a poster named lord varys.
Wow, compelling analysis
Thank you!!
(with all respect to Hegel, Marx, and Jerry, my Sociology professor!)
Exactly. I think the saying goes history never truly repeats, but it does rhyme.
What a great video 👏🏻
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful video! Thanks for the sweet content!🐉
Thanks for watching!
Your videos are the best ❤ also tad walliams has a UA-cam channel were he does chapter readings, which is pretty cool.
I'll check it out! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Loved this! After waiting more than a decade for tWoW I thought I’ve heard every theory but this one is great, thank you!!
Love the pic of Mads for Euron
Utterly impeccable work; your best,by far, in years. Wonderful, insightful, thorough, and well cited. I cannot stop thinking of some of these points. Brava!!!
Th0ank you so much!
Wow amazing stuff as always! I hope your prediction is right!
Me too!
Shes back ❤
This really expanded on some theories I was familiar with.
Oh that would be interesting if Victorian gets bodysnatched. Very cool idea.
40:54 there are a TON of WoT references in the Dorn chapters in particular. Helps to keep in mind that the Rand, the Dragon Reborn, is a polygamist too. Slots right into the Targ lifestyle tbh.
And Rand refers to Lews as "him" when he is in his head😉.
Thank you for another great video
Thanks for watching!
This video made me buy The Dragonbone Chair today 😅
Wow awesome! Yay Amanda🔥🩶
Thanks for watching!
You're very welcome!
Euron is decended from the Grey King who might be from the Empire of the Dawn, and they were dragon riders
Yeah... you're right - Euron IS the last character I want to see with a dragon... but I still have more to process before I can make ANY predictions.
Viserys saying ‘you don’t wanna wake the dragon, do you?’ the whole first book may have deeper meaning now..
I was kinda thinking the same thing!
Good video!!
Thanks for the visit!!! Cheers!
Love a big theory video!
Thanks for watching!
Heey i just watched the previous videos, why is the audio quality so much better 3 years ago? It's barely audible on this one :(
This audio is also 3 years old (yes, I made this 3 years ago) so im not sure.
Glad you like it! Be sure to check out part III that was released today!🥂
Love you, Amanda!
🤗
Thank you for bringing me a gleam of hope - a hope that it won't be Jon to kill Daenerys. @@TheDisputedLands
Awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it
A great video 100%
Glad you enjoyed it
3 heads are also 3 points in a scale. So Euron being one of tha heads totally works.Dany will represent the fire of a true heart and Euron Death Jon will b center mass 4 he has blood of tha dragon and tha others.Love your breakdowns and theories. All legit makes sense 💯.
Euron is definitely death!!
I feel like some unknown powerful force is trolling Euron. Trying to get Euron to brightflame himself for the lulz. Dark gods be dark like that.
Dragonbinder doesn't bind actual dragons, it binds "dragons" dragonriders. That's how euron plans on "bringing" dany back to Westeros.
Check out my mazemaker video, the tiger woman and Amethyst Empress are the same person. 🙂
Something that wasn't mentioned in the video, but that crossed my mind when writing it.... bodies locked in lust I think might be Melisandre seeing Euron's body being taken over
👏👍 Well done
Thank you! Cheers!
