This is a really interesting GoI. Not just because of the intruiging aesthetic of a bunch of superhuman, anthro birds with maps zapping across the universes in search of finding and spreading knowledge, but also because their news reporter's flair makes for an interesting opportunity to experience the SCP multiverse from a much different perspective than the iconically formulaic database entries. Journalism of the goings on in these weird worlds rather than the persistent, documented struggle to uphold normalcy, that we have become very familiar with.
Normally I love the complicated jargon and technical scps but this has to be my favorite thing other than maybe the Avalon tale with 507. I love groups that see knowledge as sacred and the more wholesome stories about those groups, I smiled when you talked about the Wandsmen finding love, especially when most of the scps are about horror or dread

I can't help but picture the Wandsmen as the Chozo in my head. A race of very knowledgeable "alien" bird people, capable of feats way beyond our comprehension. Now all we need is an interdimensional bounty hunter with a power armor
When the Kings cloak got lifted off and the descriptions of his 'face' started, I was on the litteraly edge of my chair until I heard that "God shapped hole line", and fugging loved hearin it as always
Good for agent Briggs! He's truly loyal to the foundation and humanity. It's so refreshing to not have one of the weak agents who gives in to the anomaly. He stuck to his guns.
Would you really be ready to transform into a bird guy? Because I'm not sure if I would (not saying definitely no). Though definitely one of my fav GoIs.
I quite like the idea of the transformation as a job requirement. Reminds me of followers of certain gods in Warhammer and other fantasy tales. It seems quite unique in regard of Wandsmen since the bird shape seems to be usefull in multiverse travel... As someone who kinda likes mixing universes I think would work together nicely I wonder if any of Wandsmen ever encoutnered Void (from The Void by Icepick Lodge, quite an existential location) or Backrooms, maybe even the location 106 claimed
Two things I have taken from this, the Wandsmen remind me of the Chozo, and this is how I pictured the Library from the Librarian films and series. I am so here for this!
> me who plays Touhou > Knows Aya Shameimaru of Bunbunmaru News > A multiversal bubble world full of phantasmic beings (and some humans) > Literally a bird human youkai (working in news) This has to be written by a former Touhou player. And Aya is a Wandswoman.
@@michaelandreipalon359 lol imagine if somewhere in the library there is a section filled with Bunbunmaru News, that and whatever magazine the other tengu girl writes for. That spider part in the middle of the video sounds like 342, A Train Ride to Nowhere. Way to bring out the arachnophobia in fans with this one. I like the multiverse side of the SCP Foundation a lot more than the monster of the week articles you usually get. I feel multiverse stories can be very interesting, like this one, and has lots of potential.
Three big groups I wanna see a first hand videogame of. A life of a mechinite, the life of a wandsmen, and the life of a fairy from the demon hector story ark
I like the plasticity of the concept and the fact that they can become a spin-off universe in a way. It has lots of space for creative licensing and can utilize a variety of different styles. While SCP is almost always a dry document with rare exceptions of logs and such, wandsmen prioritize stories in any written form, I feel. It can be very personalized depending on the author or the Author.
Am gonna guess these guys are the mage equivalent of the Kingsmen. Edit: Just starting, and I think I'm proven wrong... although this talk of the Multiverse fascinates me.

Since the entire Kaktusverse is so huge and complex, I wish you can explain it more in lay men's term like you always do, thank you!
Heck yeah! I’ve always wanted to know more about the Wandsman, but just thought everyone had forgotten about him and anything in Alagadda in general. Glad to see I was wrong!
It says that new wandsmen take form of a bird they previously found repulsive, but what happens if you don't find any birds repulsive? Do you transom into a bird that'd your least favorite?
It's clearly talking about the avian form As a whole as being repulsive. Because they aren't human anymore. Seems pretty silly to assume every being in existence had a bird breed they find icky.
I love the crossover/bridging stories & scp universe exploration so I like this just in concept but ikthis being both wandsmen and aligadan really hits the spot. Him and placeholder are top favorite characters.
You briefly mentioned the Watchers. When you did, that was a completely different subject however, is the role of the Fallen Angels to make absolutely certain that the Watchers stay out of everyone's affairs
This was a fantastic one! I already knew a little about the Wandsmen, but this was a great in-depth look. Thanks as usual for an excellent video. Also, I have a request: I was recently looking through random SCPs, and came upon SCP-6996, which is the color red itself. It's a fascinating look at how red is used as a symbol in so many works (SCPs and also has implications for other things too). I'd love if you would cover this SCP! It's really wild that a color itself is used as an SCP.
I actually thought of something, the scp foundation has documents that describe anomalies that destroyed earth or cause major damages but the scp foundation has no knowledge of these events. What if the wandsmen are the ones who bring these documents to other universe’s foundation so they could avoid the same mistake.
Don't take thing the wrong way, but I listen your videos while falling asleep and it works. Having real bad insomnia most of the time, this is a nice change.
The wandsman are how Tzeetch's blessing/curse used rightly. I mean they can travels to multiverse. It wont be weird if they came from or went to the Warhammer universes.
31:43 The entire story that follows makes me think of Dark Souls, convoluted time and space, twisted parodies of once whole beings. Everything forgotten, rotting, and hollow.
I've read a few comments and can't believe no one is talking about scp 049 being an ex-wandsman (or affliated in some regard). As soon as I heard the name 'Icus' it blew me away.
How is he ex wandsman? He's not a bird. He's some sort of supernatural plague doctor looking alike. He's rambles about nonsensical "pestilence" all day and does weird experiments on animals or people.

That might be what they were implying. You change to resemble a bird that you personally find ugly and/or repulsive, which would make it understandable why a number of Wandsmen have tried to find a way to change back.

I love this concept. That said there are very few birds that I find repulsive. I'd probably turn into a house finch because I've seen them fight and argue a lot and it annoys me. Once I was shopping for plants at home depot on a hot crowded day, and I heard a loud shrilling coming from a shelf on one side of the nursery. Four or five finches came out of a display trying to rip another one to BITS. Shoppers literally dodged to one side or the other to get out of the way.

I hope Briggs features in more articles. Hes a pretty cool dude
He's had cameo appearances in SCP-5316 and SCP-5687, but he probably does deserve some more focused content.
This has got to be one of the only GOI that I would earnestly want to be a part of.
100% down to be a teleporting bird man, of the big and strong, or tiny time traveler variety
Forget teleporting i would love persevering knowledge
@@treeeyed8578 plus it’s SCP so there’s like 10x the knowledge! The majority of it cursed but that’s what they have thaumaturgy for
@@codeofclaw only big downside is you are a birb which you dont like, makes me wonder if you are a bird lover
@@d4s0n282 I do like birds, the only one I don’t like is the bastard that’s outside my window every night cycling though chirps like ringtones
@@d4s0n282 I like birds in general, but the only ones I have a feeling close enough to bad about that would make me take them as a form, are also the most terrifying and eerie looking birds ever, so while I personally would not like looking at an owls face every time I look in the mirror I know a lot of people don’t have the pain of knowing what they look like without feathers. So I get to be a multiverse time traveler that looks like in either a wise owl or something like an emu that honestly are badass enough that if anyone attacks me I’ll already know they got something I don’t bc fuck fighting a emu.
Anyway, doesn’t matter what I look like, this is so much better than my 9-5 I’ll take it
The Wandsmen are one of my favorite Wanders Library SCPs. I've read everyone I can find.
Missed an -er in wanderer's
To -er is only avian.
I guess they can be considered the secondary faces of The Wanderer’s Library aside from The Serpent’s Hand.
I would say it seems more like they have a working relationship.
Huh your right I guess they are more of a “Wanderer’s Library” SCP. I personally always associated them with Alagadda because the first time I heard one mentioned was in that SCP.
SCP is the gift that keeps on giving, and the current schisms between certain groups is especially sad.
Nonetheless, we appreciate the work you do more than words can say. Thank you.
what schisms?
@@IdiotinGlans yeah wtf did I miss???
Schisms in utopia are typically invented, man made. No matter where, there are schisms. Luckily for us, it's not life or death.
@@IdiotinGlans From what I heard the spanish branch has been removing pride flags from the SCP logo in their articles due to a policy of having no poltical imagery in their articles. There might be some other stuff going on, like them leaving up other political statements and targeting just the pride flag, but I'm not sure if that has been confirmed or not. Regardless this lead to some authors demanding their articles be removed and any other things they write to not be translated for the spanish branch. I know somewhere it was metioned that someone was trying to talk to the people who run the spanish branch.
@@raghnall847 people think that because we all like SCPS we have to agree on everything else. It just not the case. To try and force people to conform to another’s beliefs for the sake of unity is no better than any government that tries to control and limit what people know/think.

The form makes perfect sense, as observers of everything you don't want to be part of the story. How often do we see birds but not really pay them attention?
i love that theres a new GOI popping up because i can actually see it grow unlike how i missed the other ones
I was just relistening to your episode about the Hanged King and wondering if the Wandsman of Col Manis was just a weird thing for that SCP or something more significant
thank you, i am terribly scared of storms and the dark so i listen to you talk about scp so i dont focus on thunder or the dark. your truly awsome.
May your heart be calm as the thunder rages on the earth.
Its refreshing to see fundation personell not evil. I usually read stuff where they are.
Ever since the Hanged King episode I've wondered about the Wandsman and what they meant
Same! I always wished someone would expand on who that was, I’m glad to see that it happened!
Definitely one of my new favorite scp foundation stories/organizations
Love how this channel explains the scp universe!
I like what you have going on between name and profile picture. On point from a certain point of view.
I’ve been working night shifts and forgot what day it was, this was a pleasant surprise
Ssdd man, ssdd
One of the best in a while. Off to read everything on The Wandsmen
Love this scp article/video. Easy to follow along, no complex jargon babble.
Finally a GOI I could see myself joining
Would you really be ready to transform into a bird guy?
Because I'm not sure if I would (not saying definitely no). Though definitely one of my fav GoIs.
Getting close to 1 million subs man!! Thanks for the upload again! Favorite part of my weekend/start of the week
The fact that he's still only at 930K subs 2 years later does make me a bit sad.
This is my new favourite GOI, I would join them and become a smol birb journalist :3
> me who plays Touhou
> Knows Aya Shameimaru of Bunbunmaru News
> A multiversal bubble world full of phantasmic beings (and some humans)
> Literally a bird human youkai (working in news)
This has to be written by a former Touhou player.
And Aya is a Wandswoman.
Also is 049 a deviant from them ?
Another magical girl? That explains a lot.
@@michaelandreipalon359 lol imagine if somewhere in the library there is a section filled with Bunbunmaru News, that and whatever magazine the other tengu girl writes for. What is really amazing is that as a story base, you can write so many stories including possibly one where the unintentional dimension traveler can meet one.
.... that one O5 in the Ouroboros Cycle makes a lot more sense now.
You mean Blackbird?
@@michaelandreipalon359 Exactly
I really appreciate how practiced and well paced your readings are.
This really makes me want to run a game of D&D based on the Wandsmen
Three big groups I wanna see a first hand videogame of. A life of a mechinite, the life of a wandsmen, and the life of a fairy from the demon hector story ark
I like the plasticity of the concept and the fact that they can become a spin-off universe in a way. It has lots of space for creative licensing and can utilize a variety of different styles. While SCP is almost always a dry document with rare exceptions of logs and such, wandsmen prioritize stories in any written form, I feel. It can be very personalized depending on the author or the Author.
Now knowing where the possessive mask came from suddenly makes so much sense
This sounds like a wonderful existence if I'm being honest.
"... an amber-colored substance imbued with the sick scent of failed creation." Sounds like SEELE is at it again with Human Instrumentality.
Oh my god, you’re right!
Lmao
Am gonna guess these guys are the mage equivalent of the Kingsmen.
Edit: Just starting, and I think I'm proven wrong... although this talk of the Multiverse fascinates me.
damn finally an scp orginization that isnt awful and would be amazing to join
I mean seprpents hand is pretty good.
Hey Exploring Series, I've been enjoying all the readings from you so far, I'm here with a request, SCP-6765 "The Demon Ogier and the Bleeding Throne of Malidraug" which is the latest work for the Kaktusverse, I'm wondering if you can cover it as well? Since the entire Kaktusverse is so huge and complex, I wish you can explain it more in lay men's term like you always do, thank you!
Wait a minute: bird people in search of knowledge, travels the mutilverse, and they are good at magic... I smell some Tzeench tomfoolery going on.
They mentioned raptors, so maybe some turn into birds they fear or are wary of?
A wandsmen comes in with the "multiversal big book of birds" to help the transition along. Lol
Probably just any bird you had a disliking of, whether it be because you find it ugly, scary, or just unlikeable
It's clearly talking about the avian form As a whole as being repulsive. Because they aren't human anymore. Seems pretty silly to assume every being in existence had a bird breed they find icky.
@@commonviewer2488 was just a name of a role. Had nothing to do with their transformation
I love the crossover/bridging stories & scp universe exploration so I like this just in concept but ikthis being both wandsmen and aligadan really hits the spot. Him and placeholder are top favorite characters.
"we're here to document the different worlds. Also btw the multiverse is I'm danger and you gotta save it good luck!"
You briefly mentioned the Watchers. When you did, that was a completely different subject however, is the role of the Fallen Angels to make absolutely certain that the Watchers stay out of everyone's affairs
Wut
"Canaries are a minor exception to this" did...did you make a pun?
TES: The Wandsmen
Me, who has watched the SCP-701 video too many times: Wait a minute, I know that term
the fact they turn into a bird they found repulsive means there likely very many of them that are turkey vultures
The wandsmen sound like the SCP equivelent of the myst series' Dni.
As they are both scholars and explorers, I think Lord Blackwood would get along nicely with one of them =)
The wandsman are how Tzeetch's blessing/curse used rightly. I mean they can travels to multiverse. It wont be weird if they came from or went to the Warhammer universes.
Let's all see and help The Exploring Series and the other SCP historians to 1 Million subs!
31:43 The entire story that follows makes me think of Dark Souls, convoluted time and space, twisted parodies of once whole beings. Everything forgotten, rotting, and hollow.
Eyy, new episode. looks like i got something to finally fall asleep to tonight
Ayo the Lanterns but for gaining the knowledge of the multiverse. And with real consequenses for gaining their powers.
I've read a few comments and can't believe no one is talking about scp 049 being an ex-wandsman (or affliated in some regard). As soon as I heard the name 'Icus' it blew me away.
Agreed. I love that this finally gives some sort of context to the character and not in the old school peanut boy or old man form. Great Entry!
How is he ex wandsman? He's not a bird. He's some sort of supernatural plague doctor looking alike. He's rambles about nonsensical "pestilence" all day and does weird experiments on animals or people.

Absolutely phenomenal writing and narration!
so, basically a multiverse version of the AP and made up of different breeds of birds? This actually makes so much sense for some reason. Love the channel.
Another good scp video from my favorite scp channel. With a story about my boy the Hanged King and Alogotta at the end. Very nice
now, when you say you become a repulsive bird, does that mean, say, if you found shoebills particularly ugly in your human life, you would become a shoebill as a wandsman?
That might be what they were implying. You change to resemble a bird that you personally find ugly and/or repulsive, which would make it understandable why a number of Wandsmen have tried to find a way to change back.
Who knows. Personally I have orinthophobia (fear of birds) so I have no idea what species I’d get. Hopefully something cool like a eagle, but just my luck it would be a pigeon.
@@thedukeofchutney468 Hopefully you wouldn't turn into a monstrous amalgamation of all bird species. That'd be pretty messed up.

The Floridan Shark-squach, quite a tale
Yeah, adventures of multiverse bird people is my new favorite. Hunting down the hanged kings stuff to listen to again
The O5-5 overseer is Blackbird. Could this where he came from? It fits since Blackbird can go anywhere, anytime and any dimension. They even said some birds goes somewhere and never comes back. Makes me wonder is BlackBird decided not to come back and fine other versions of himself and make them see the map???
Iirc in The Way It Ends his genesis is described pretty clearly, he originated from some semi-apocalyptic version of London devastated by plague.

Sooo transmutated magical bird monster journalists? Absolutely amazing premise
Wonderful narration! I depend partly on the auto captions, and they work so well for you. Likewise, the art is wonderful.

If you're taking requests could you do SCP-3426 next? I love your format of story telling, and I'd really like to see you do this one, it's hella creepy.
Painful memories / experience are 100% more valuable than positive ones as they help us grow as people
I love this concept.
I just KNOW I'd turn into a regular city pigeon, and not something cool like a shoebill.
I’d be a pelican. Nothing more repulsive than how Pelicans eat.
Same. Even vultures and pigeons are beautiful in their own way... I'd probably turn into a female grackle. They're not exactly repulsive but they're drab and have an annoying call.
@@blackosprey2219 its too bad you can't turn into your favorite bird, then I'd be a cockatoo! XD they love to rock and roll!

Studying this one for a possible 3rd story arc, Phi Delta's Excellent Multiverse Adventure. By that point, we should have gotten so used to the characters and Ruth's sociopathy that it'll be pure fun. Pure, violent, fun.
Huge fan, thanks for all the content! This is probably my favorite group of interest, and I hope to see more thaumaturgy focused videos in the future!
If I didn't have to become big birds cousin I'd be pretty down to join these guys. Seem like a decent group with decent goals and decently powerful.
Sadly I'm found of aposable thumbs and things. Plus I feel like that map would get me stuck in the 40k universe or something and that's not really some place you wanna go, especially not looking human and hard to kill.
I mean looking like a Lord of Change is probably really not great either 😅
