- This is University of Georgia's PSA TV spot created by the Bulldog Collective and featuring REM's song "Oh My Heart". It ran the past 2 seasons. This year (2013) the University decided to replace it with a new spot. Not sure about you but we sure miss the old one. The Bulldog Collective is a group of marketing professionals based in Atlanta GA who graciously donated their time to created the Chapel Bell Spot out of love for UGA and Bulldogs everywhere. Go Dawgs.
This is still my favorite UGA television spot of all time. Go Dawgs
I was sad too when they replaced it. I come back and watch it here often. I wish they would bring it back. It captures a feeling I can't even describe.
That is so kind of you to say Michael. I agree that Athens is a special place that is hard to describe to those who haven't experienced it. Go Dawgs.
Please bring this spot back into the rotation. It would give me chills every time I saw it on game day :)
Notre Dame fan here, but saw this commercial during the SEC championship actually teared up.
Best PSA ever. I wish they'd bring it back.
My mom graduated from UGA, I graduated from UGA and my oldest daughter just graduated from UGA 2 years ago.The UGA campus has memories for all of us. When my daughters were little we would go to Old Campus for picnics all the time. They know about the bell tradition, the Arch tradition. We have pics of all three generations standing at the Arch. My oldest daughter was fortunate enough to be a part of this commercial spot. We did miss seeing this commercial this year and would so love to see it played again next year. Being from Athens we are also fans of REM and this song was perfect for this spot!!! Ringing the bell with my daughter on her graduation day will forever be one of my best memories.
Georgia fan from Colorado, Go Dawgs! Hoping to attend UGA when I graduate high school.
so upset they replaced this video, which brings a tear to my eye every time, during football games. BRING IT BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!
Everytime I see this video I get chills. Could not be prouder of this commercial. Go Dawgs!
Wish I had been there in '81. Glad you like the new spot. We also love REM and knew going in that music had to be a big part of the spot as the Athens experience wouldn't be complete without amazing music.
Just saw an excerpt on the SEC game, and had to find this. Very moving to this '81 grad who saw REM back then. Thanks.
And I rang the bell, but never walked under the arch as a freshman!
Thanks for all the support. We are very proud of it. The University will use it next year as well. Go Dawgs.
that is quite a compliment. thank you very much.
that's quite a compliment thank you. want to hear something really ironic? UF used to be our client at my old agency and I did some of the Go Gators spots too. I'll hand it to UF, you guys will spend money to create nice marketing and really know how to protect your brand.
wow can't believe you never had the urge to grab that rope and give it a tug! That chapel is one of, if not the, oldest buildings on campus. Lot of history there. Hope you enjoyed the new spot regardless and we love hippy video guys.
Love this.
I've been a Gator since birth and I know I'm supposed to hate Georgia but this is one of the best University promos of all time. A++ on the job they did with this one
I graduated from journalism in 72 and never once rang the bell but as a freshman I walked daily thru the arch on my way to the varsity...when I got my alumni newsletter I had to ask myself, where the heck is the bell? never interested in football either. just a hippy video guy
I'm a bama fan, but I love rem and this commercial's awesome
I hope I get into UGA. my dream to go there
wow that's a compliment I'll take anytime from a Gamecock. Thanks. Oh and PS...Boo Spurrier!
Since 1894. That's what you call an SEC Tradition.
@jdolender1 We get chills every time we read a post like this. It means the world to us to have the support of our fellow alums
It's R.E.M. dude. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame band from Athens. Geez.
well actually since the media space is donated via the NCAA it is considered to be an educational message for the good of the general public and therefore is classified as a PSA.
I'm an Alabama fan and I don't like Georgia. But I loved this commercial.
This a commercial not a PSA. It's a good one though
That's some hokey music.
Gamecocks fan here. Boo UGA, but this is a good commercial.
still a commercial
