This scene man. There's a very specific kind of loneliness/stress/mourning/confusion/dullness that i felt expressed in this, and it's a feeling I've felt before. On one of my birthdays i once drove 3 hours alone just to go to the ocean and just, stand at a dock and watch the horizon. I was dealing with some really tragic news, and i would either focus hard on my work to distract myself, or i would hang out with family and friends, but it would only cheer me up for a while. Many people were asking about celebrating my birthday, but, in just a strange moment, i just decided to ignore everything for that day, and go to the ocean. I knew my friends and family were expecting to celebrate with me, but i just didn't want to, i chose to do something for myself. Digesting the tragedy was something i felt i could only do on my own, no one else could experience it with me. So i remember i stared at the ocean for roughly two hours. Didn't cry, didn't smile, and i didn't think much. Just kinda sat there, and then drove back home. No real rhyme, no real reason, no fanfare, just a quiet stillness to put the breaks on my mind. Thankfully, I'm doing much better now, but this scene took me back to that instance of my life
This scene is what elevated the show from a good one to an outstanding one to me. Perfectly encapsulates the feelings of loneliness, melancholy and anxiety
Whole sequence lovely from the rem lyrics aligning with the tragedy both Carm and Sugar are still going through and exposes a little how they’re both processing THAT day specifically (michaels bday) She wants to take comfort in her brother whiles he’s avoiding his feels focused on the beefs woes vs his own (beefs are some how are lighter) and the walk with Chicago sky at sunset then finally on the water view Oh my heart. Watching the show now - amazing series, all to do with a master at his craft returning to his roots, battling his personal demons & trying to do his brother proud. Go Bear
Actually, it's just the opposite now. Thank goodness. It's highly acclaimed. The show runners and Jeremy have all received awards and praise from the industry, even during the current writers strike. Even episode 6 from S2, the family Christmas flashback has all those well respected actors in cameos BECAUSE of how excellent and well received the show is. So "underrated" is not the popular opinion. Everybody, for the most part, LOVE this show.

At the end of the 3rd episode, with that song and what it means, I started to cry. I felt like for a moment I was Carmy and that I understood his pain. 💔 I started to watch it only yesterday and I'm already in love. This show is phenomenal 🥺

There’s so many layers to this show but this is the scene that got me hooked. I love how we can hear Sydney’s voice at the beginning and how well she’s at being a chef. It’s natural to her and then we have carmy going to the lake on Michael’s birthday
