That was so cool at the end of this video seeing and hearing Hail to the Redskins with the lyrics on the screen courtesy of NBC. Looking forward to more great videos in 2024.
The Dolphins started 8-1 that year. Always a great regular season team and always found a way to lose early in the playoffs. The Redskins lost 6 games in the regular season that year and by a "narrow" margin of 59 points! That's not too shabby when you take a moment to think about it. All of their losses that season were not by much.
Miami never really had a solid team around Marino until his later years. Never had a decent RB, never had elite WRs, and the defense was average at best.
Edward Outlaw, you're a prophet Bro. During his playing days with us . Early on teams around the league really slept on how good he was and as a player should have been disrespected by it, I was lol. And because Daryl Green was on the other side they thought Mayhew could be picked on. He wanted them to throw at him. He welcomed it.But them fools wokeup quick and still thought they were in a nightmare. Because they were looking at a 2 headed serpent in our secondary. They really started to figured it out whenever Darrell was out injured and Mayhew stepped in & up and held it down til he got back. When they tried to pass the only options were the flat where our LB's would eat them up. Or over the middle where our safeties would just tee off on them. Man I miss our our oid defense. Not too many teams if any could play the defensive schem we did because our back 7 could pass defend and knock you out in the run. Man, I truly miss that and believe it could work today. Thank you Bro, for that trip down Washington memory lane. Peace and much love to you and yours. God bless.
NBC did this a few times when covering Redskins home games. They recognized that games from RFK were special, often sending their top talent to call games from RFK since, being AFC focused, they had few chances to showcase one of the best NFL stadium experiences of the time (of all time, really).
This was a weird year, the transition from the 87 team into the 91 team. U had Bryant, Mitchell, Byner, and Riggs all on same roster...Doug even started a few games I believe, and let's not forget Joe Howard Johnson who kept changing his name back n forth lol...
Love it! Keep'em coming!

Forgot about Martin Mayhew. He was an underrated player for us
Nothing he did was great in my opinion except he was consistent and played hard nice compliment to green

NBC was even nice enough to give the audience subtitles for Hail To The Redskins.

@@RetroSkins I never noticed it in any of the later telecasts I watched growing up. Albert and McGuire was one of NBC's better crews.
Thanks for providing these games. The video quality is fantastic!
Far cry from how much of a home field advantage RFK was compared to what we have now. It makes me sick seeing what this franchise has become.
RFK was a tough place to w a gm there.
This was my first redskins game i remember my dad scalping tickets and how happy i was we won ❤❤
Redskin offense was simply well coached and deep in depth, defense kept Marino in check, wonderful game to watch..gg, Tampa Florida
Games like this are why you never bet against Joe Gibbs teams in December.
Washington after Thanksgiving at RFK = money in the bank
Ant monk was lethel on quick end da rounds
I’d rather watch this team, this name, this stadium, these fans than anything today.

No, Doug retired after 89. This was the season where Stan Humphries and Jeff Rutledge started games when Ryp got hurt
