Here it was literally hitting the “MAKE” button! I was hitting “more” and couldn't figure out if I needed to export and why Garage Band wasn’t there. Assuming this is what I needed to do because of making them myself without an app etc. I cannot say THANK YOU enough for the simplicity of your instruction!

hello, the only thing wrong with this process is it just for RINGTONES only. you cant use custom sounds for TEXT TONES or other areas, like NEW VOICEMAIL or NEW MAIL and so on. The custom sounds you make only show up under RINGTONES......it's a bug with IOS 17 and from what I heard APPLE is aware of this and will try to correct this issue with IOS 17.1....hopefully

Not immediately useful. You assume my music file (which I want as a ringtone) is sitting in my files. It's sitting in my Music. I have nothing in my files right now. I get the Garage Band part. Why can't I just use a song already in my Music app on the phone instead of downloading from Safari?

So, I am successful creating the ringtone from a MP3, I can share and export it and assign it to a contact person. When I assign it to a contact person, I can even play the ringtone successfully. But … when this person calls me, the default ringtone starts playing, not the one I assigned to the person. On the contrary, assigning a self-created ringtone as default ringtone does work. Question: what do I have to do to also assign self-created ringtones to specific contacts successfully? PS: I have an iPhone 12 Mini and iOS 17.6.1.

But I'm now a bit disappointed by this "Ringtone nightmare" 🤔 : Why are simple things so complicated to setup here ? Under Android, I simply download my mp3 and select it as my ringtone. That's all !
With this I changed my ringtone to “I would like to inform you that your magical ringing device is vibrating inside your pocket, the static is quite annoying. PICK UP YOUR PHONE” yeah that’s my ring tone I hear that whenever somebody calls me
When you have to use multiple apps and go through a whole process to just set your favorite ringtone thats when you know you are an iPhone user 😂

Since I changed to 17, all of my text tones are gone. That's the only thing that I don't like about IOS 17.

this method will make the ringtone sound become mono, even if the original sound is stereo.

was the ringtone app even necessary? Garageband can export ringtones directly (which is what we did) and also allows you to edit them.
I think it is only to adjust the ringtone
you can do it easily without any app with a mac or a pc with itunes.
