Thank you!! iOS 17 Beta eliminated several standard ringtones which was upsetting. This helped me regain use of my preferred tone. This video is extremely helpful and worked perfectly!

So what I did was screen record jujutsu kaisen opening song on youtube, then using safari I searched for convert video to mp3 after converting I downloaded the mp3 and it went straight to my file then I followed your garage band instruction and it worked, oh my gosh! now I can have any songs that I like as a ringtone. 🤩🤩🤩🤩

well it would be chaos if everyone had extreme bass boost phonk drift music going off in class/at work. imo keeping it this way makes it so people who shouldnt have custom ringtones, dont have custom ringtones
Technically it is easier than this but Apple wan't you to pay for ringtones not use it for free. These methods are work arounds, that's why it's a little more long winded

Hi, I downloaded your convert to audio shortcut. When I select the "send to" button, on the list this shortcut only says "to audio" rather than "convert to audio". when i click on it, the page for recordings comes halfway onto the screen then freezes and stays there until I darken the screen. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

Ios17 iPhone 14 pro max. I think this worked but it does not show up on my list of text tones to chose from. It just shows default when you click on sounds and haptics and to the right of text tone. Not in the list. Not sure why. Maybe Apple did that on purpose with iOS-17🤷🏼♂️

Don’t know if you’re still wondering but after you do all of that you have to open it in a file because it doesn’t know which file to put the converted audio in, so just find or make a file then you press convert audio and put it in said file

Thank you! I ended up doing this a bit differently. I also used a UA-cam video (it's an old melody you'll never find anywhere else), converted it to .mp3, put it in Apple Music, converted it to .ACC, put it in it's own playlist, synced ONLY that playlist to my phone (I hate iTunes/Apple Music) and then imported to Garageband from there. Obviously I used my Mac, but it's another method. It's a shame you have to jump through hoops to accomplish extremely simple things.
I just switched to iPhone after having android my whole life. Android is a better operating system but the quality of the iPhone won me over. My 15 pro max actually feels like it cost $1400 while my $900 pixel felt like a toy. Call me booshy but I like my quality craftsmanship. Plus iMessage

As for edit and trim the music file can't you just do that in the photos app by clicking on edit? And then select that sound file as ringtone in settings.

Took a little to get the the hang of it, and it’s not that bad once you figure it out! I had to watch the video back to see which step I was apparently skipping (adding the folder 😅) but now I can make a custom ALARM tone to wake up to! It’s not just for phone calls with it set to DnD! So fun!

I think apple changed this on the newly released iOS 17. You can no longer set the tone as a text tone, new mail or sent mail alert.
