      What makes you think we couldn't? With how advanced the stories say we are, "where there's a will, there's a way" is ever more true

      Yeah likely.
      But it was part of an ability that was never mentioned (could have been a neat mini-ability_
      Just suddenly all the laws of physics can be broken without explaining how.

    Somebody likes the sound of his voice too much. This story is way too long. In fact, you could condense it by four minutes, and not lose anything of significance.
