This is the last video of 2023. Just wanted to take the time to let you know that it's been the privilege of a lifetime getting to make videos and share them with you. When I was younger, I always dreamed that there would be a day where people would want to watch my creations, and if you're reading this comment, you are part of my dream coming true. Thank you for spending your precious time with me. I love you guys so much and I can't wait to see you next year! Lily, Lucky, Kevin and I wish you the happiest holiday season.
Did you get the scoop out of the lid? The arm & hammer cat litter deodorizer works best. Then keeping a lil trash can with bag to scoop & take out daily works best. Also sprinkling deodorizer ok the bottom of the box as pee sticks
Welcome to the cat family!!!! She looks like a domestic short hair (common breed) and is a grey tabby (which are the stripes that she has)!!! Can’t wait to see more kitty content!! ❤❤❤
First, thanks to you and your family for rescuing her and giving her a forever home. Second, your Mom is gorgeous, third, you look great in green. And of course I want to see more of Lily 😺.
You guys did the right thing. Even if she did want to stay it wouldn’t be safe for her. No food or shelter and other animals around to harm her. So thankful they didn’t leave her
Make sure you get a self clumping litter. Clumping litter makes for easy cleanup of pee and poop. Don’t get that white crystal stuff. It doesn’t clump and it eventually will stink because you really are never removing the urine. also make sure you are using kitten food not just Friskies adult food because they need the extra fat and nutrients just like babies
Lily is SO adorable, and I love how she loves to be, as you say, wrapped like a burrito! Can't get over her cuteness. Thank you for sharing her story and journey into your family.🐈⬛ 💜
You are such a great cat owner! You did a lot of research and prepared super well for her arrival which is a lot more than most people would do. The litter doesn't smell unless you don't scoop it out regularly but if you make a habit of doing it once in the morning and once at night, plus cleaning the box once a week, you should be golden. Thank you for taking Lily in and giving her such an amazing life!
Congrats on the cat distribution system finding your family! ☺ Miki, thank you and your family so much for rescuing Lily. She's a beautiful cat and SO lucky to be in her forever home with you, Kevin, and Lucky! She's in good hands and suits your cute lil family so well. Welcome Lily, can't wait to see her grow with y'all. 💖
She's beautiful! I'm sure you might already be aware of this, but definitely get her used to her teeth being brushed daily if possible! Cats are prone to dental issues that unfortunately go unnoticed just like dogs. She likely can use the same toothpaste as Lucky (if you do brush his teeth) but otherwise I recommend looking at products with the VOHC seal on it as they're scientifically proven to work. There's a list if you google that! I do recommend looking for food that meets WSAVA criteria particularly when she's still a kitten and especially since she didn't get proper nutrition at a young age already. Those foods are backed by lifetime clinical trials (rather than some more popular brands nowadays that have only been around for a few years, so your cat would be the "test" subject) and I'm sure your veterinarian can discuss more with you about that. ❤The topic of "fillers" comes up a lot, but a lot of the foods recommended "without fillers" are ones that aren't even formulated by people who have a background in pet nutrition, or for some brands even a bachelor's at all.
Welcome to the new addition to the family♡ Cats tend to hide when they are stressed so to help reduce stress it helps when they are in control so allow them the freedom to move about your home as they please. Once accommodated to the environment, they will be less timid. You should watch Jackson galaxy and my bf and I watched “my cat from hell” which helped us learn a lot of about cats :)
Another vote for clumping litter! So much more practical than the regular. Also, I'm so glad you're training her, keep up with it! I wish all of you many happy years together. ❤❤
Thank you so much for giving Lily a wonderful and safe home! The cat distribution system seems to be working perfectly ✨✨I put a carrier down when I saw my first cat, and he just walked in. They really are such beautiful little creatures lol
Shes absolutely adorable!!! Something you can do when it comes to litter is sprinkle some baking soda and mix it in with the litter (arm & hammer have a specific one). You can also switch to wood pellets for litter which will provide more of a natural, woody scent! Make sure you have multiple litter boxes around the house :)
Hi Miki!!! I just wanted to say how thankful I am to have come across your channel, especially towards the second half of the year. It hasn't been the easiest, but honestly watching your videos have really helped me get up (quite literally). It's like having a bestfriend living life along with me. Your candor especially in your unfiltered vids have been so refreshing. Thank you so so much 🫶🏻 Have a happy new year, sending lots and lots of love to you, Kevin, Lucky and Lily!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Omigoodness! Congratulations and it's so nice to see how much research you guys have done on cats and kitty proofing the home, especially making sure the houseplants are non-toxic! Just to add Friskies is a good starter but they do have better quality wet foods out there for her long term health, and less dusty litters like Cat's Pride since dust can cause asthma down the line. LOVED this video and I remember you mentioning before about getting a kitty for your doggo so this is just so perfect! 💖
i reccomend arm & hammer platinum slide litter, its way less dusty than majority of litters and it covers smell well. also having a quiet air purifier placed by the box is a game changer. enjoy the amazing experience of being a kitty owner
welcome to the kitty crew :') You may want to look into pine litter, which is cleaner, safer, cheaper, less smelly, and better for the environment! so excited for you!!
No pine litter is a bad idea 😂 I heard/read the same thing years ago but cats don't really care about what's good for the environment and I bought pine litter for my cats and they HATED it! They went everywhere in the house (and outside) but they never would go in the litter boxes. I think it's because the pine (and a couple other litters I bought) was harsh on their little paws. So I learned that the softest litter got the best reaction and they were much more willing to use.
I recommend getting your cat a cat tower and some sort of scratching post, because she will end up kneading once she's more comfortable and it's just natural instinct for them. It's better for her to knead on a scratching post than your furniture. Try to get her in habit of doing that so she doesn't ruin your furniture. You can actually potty train cat into using toilet, but that takes awhile. And cat tower is just there so they feel safe because higher elevation lets them see more view of their environment.
Congratulations on expanding your family! My family adopted a cat last year and I never thought of myself as a cat person before but now I am obsessed with our cat! I love my cat so much now! Lily is such a lucky cat to be adopted by you and Kevin.
Wow . She really did choose you guys. I'm so glad that your mom saved her. Who knows what could've happened to her if she was left alone in the park for much longer. It didn't seem like she had any other family members out there with her. It's so heartbreaking. There are plenty of predators out there - stray dogs, owls, hawks, snakes and God knows what else. But God was obviously watching her and He led you guys right to her. 😊 It's amazing how quickly she adapts to a new environment given how many times she had been moved around within such a short period. Also, I would recommend getting the self-cleaning litter cause it makes your job easier. You'd still need to do a thorough cleaning like once a week or so but for us busy folks, that's already a boon.
Cats are notorious for not drinking enough water so buy those water fountain drinking bowl so that they are attracted to the moving water and sound and that should sort of "encourage" them to drink more water. Secondly, they really dont like their whiskers to touch the water or food so make sure their bowls are low and shallow, those licking trays works best. Have fun!
Congratulations to you guys & especially Lily on having the best home 🥹❤️ thank you for letting us in on your journey together, can’t wait to see more Lily, Rai fam & Lucky content!!!!
We LOVE a queen that adopts and does not shop!!! As a cat rescuer, I can tell you that it is always ok for you to take home a cat that you see on the street that approaches you. As long as the cat isn't microchipped/doesn't belong to someone else, you can always assume that they want to be with you over being outdoors. Stray cats have shorter lives, and are constantly in danger of cars, attacks from other cats/animals, hunger, abuse at the hands of other people, etc. You and your mom did the right thing. It is not an overstatement to say that you guys saved this kitten's life, and you should feel so proud of that. As for the litter box, sometimes hot-boxing the litter can make it smell worse, lol. Also, sometimes cats can get stuck in those swinging litter box doors. So you could consider keeping the lid on your corner litter box, but removing the swinging door to make it safer and allow for some airflow. She will also feel more comfortable in it if she can see what's going on outside it while she is doing her business. I think some others have mentioned that you'll want to use a canned wet food that is labeled for kittens until she's 1 year old. Wet food is always better than dry. And Friskies tends to be low quality as far as cat food goes. Some other brands I like are Wellness, Tiki Cat, or Stella & Chewy's. Blue Buffalo and Fancy Feast Gourmet Naturals are better than Friskies, but more affordable than those other 3 brands. So happy for you both and Lily; you guys are already amazing cat parents!
I'm so happy for your little family! I think as long as you hit on the basics as you clearly have, there is not much you need to worry about! We have a 3 year old that we got as a stray kitten as well, we actually leave dry food out 24/7 and give him small portions of wet food throughout the day and he regulates his own weight & appetite very well. We got the practice from our grandma who raised a lot of stray kittens and was known in her town for giving them very long lives, and so far it's worked great! Good luck!!
Congratulations ! I am waiting for my next distribution ! I had my first for 17 years miss him terribly he’s irreplaceable but he was mine when i saw him in the shelter it had to be him. So now im waiting for my next kitty !
Hey Miki, thank you for adopting Lily! I am also a Cat Mom and they bring me so much joy and peace. Looking forward to see more of Lily in your next videos.
Congrats on getting a kitty! I use the Exquisicat Naturals Multi-Cat Pine Litter, and it really helps eliminate odour. It’s not a clay clumping litter though, but I actually prefer it way more over that type
Thanks for saving Lily❤! Cats don't like scented beads or anything else in their toilet. They dig and cover their things. The canvas in it will interfere with her digging properly.Grtz from Belgium 🇧🇪
to help with the litter box smell i highly recommend the boxiecat litter and adding some baking soda to the litter. the boxiecat litter has probiotics that will help break down any odor causing bacteria. baking soda is magic too especially when you're scooping. as always, make sure you are cleaning the litter box frequently too! so glad she has a good home!
as a working adult, right now since we're blessed with technology, you can buy the automatic cat litter box. it will totally save your time. including the water fountain and automatic cat feeder that is connected to your phone. im using it and believe me, its so much save my time. haha. So happy to see you adopt a cat..
I've been out of town for a week and I left my cat at my aunt's. I'm missing her so much so this video was the sweetest thing to watch. I'll see her again tomorrow 🥹 so exciteddd. One tip I can give you is to train Lily to go on walks with you outside with a leash on. That's really helpful, especially when you also have a dog. Be careful not to let her out alone though 💞 lots of love to you and your family ❤️
Congratulations… Lily is sooo cute. I’ve been subscribed for yrs and I 💜 my cat. Pro tip, buy an automatic litter scooper but avoid the one that turns circular bc it’s just gross. Thx for sharing your life with us… very happy for y’all! Enjoy your kitten… she’s beautiful!!!
we just got the litter robot 4 a few days ago. i was super skeptical as well as my wife and friends but it totally worked. the crazy thing is our cat loves it and other people found this to be true too, leave the old litter box side by side they wont use it. loved your adoption process especially testing to see if she wanted to go back to the wild. (no cat does!) Lily has such expressive and gentle eyes! what an amazingly cute cat.
omg she’s so cute and that’s so sweet ❤❤ also for the kitty litter odor there are certain brands of cat litter which are smaller so less harsh on the kitten’s paws and they have a scent that masks the odor. my family gets the litter from costco and the scent is never really bad as long as you take out the litter every 2-3 days. ❤❤ also another tip try not to rub her belly bc a cat’s belly is where their sensitive organs are and that’s the part of their body they try to protect the most
Bless you for taking in this sweet kitty. I have adopted (or rather he adopted me) a male kitty that looks very similar to Lily. I found out they are called Common Tabby. The pattern on the fur makes her (and my boy) a Mackeral Tabby because of the markings that resemble a mackeral skeleton. Again, thank you, sweet lady, for doing this for that tiny little animal.
Highly recommend you Jackson Galaxy's channel! I adopted a cat last Christmas (2022) and learned tons from his channel! Personally love tofu litter and imo it's pretty good for odor control! Btw fyi, most cat people don't recommend Friskie due to the ingredients. Hope you enjoying your time with Lily! Cats are funny!
Hi Miki! Lily is so cute and I am so glad your parents found her, she is living the best life now! I love her bond with Lucky!! They are also similar size now but I feel like Lily will outgrow Lucky's size LOL. Also I wanted to give a recommendation for cat litter, I have been a long-time cat owner and I used to use regular litter with a litter box similar to the one you got, but now I switched to a pellet-based and pee-pad litter system by Purina called "Breeze Litter System" and it's honestly made a world of a difference! Regular litter used to track so much sand and dust around the house, and since I'm also allergic to cats I had really bad allergies, but after switching to that pellet system, there is no tracking of litter. Also because it's pellets, the pee goes through to the bottom onto a pee pad in the litter system (it has a specific tray for the pad) which makes it easy to change every week and gets rid of the urine smell. Then the poop gets separated from the pee since it stays with the pellets and you can easily scoop it every day. I found this to be the best litter system I've used and my allergies have been a lot better now!
Adorable! As a cat owner myself, only thing I’d really suggest is getting one of those “breakaway cat collars.” I’ve heard from vets of situations where cats, because they like to jump around, end up accidentally hanging themselves. 😢 Otherwise you guys seem to be doing a fantastic job :)
I live in a city and I don't think we have a cat distribution system. Which makes me glad and sad. As a kid, I always wanted to just find a stray that would follow me home. I love this story.
As a pet owner before, one thing I've been more cognizant about is making sure that the food I feed my cat and dog are good for them. Although I've heard that the dry kibble is best, I have my doubts about that now. I especially would be careful and mindful about what to feed if they have some preexisting condition like kidney disease.
So nice to see someone taking care of stray cats you will have a great time with Lily and she is so lucky to have a lovely home. I suggest you switch the kitten food from friskies to a vet recommended brand like Hills or Royal canin for better quality as kitten needs lots of protein and I find wet food is better than dry but you should try giving both. As for scent in litter box I never use it because it could cause allergies to cats, my cat has asthma so we never use any scent around him. Have fun with your cat you are doing great!!
omg such a pretty cat. same story with me. a stray kitten came to my window meowing her face was bloody from a fight i guess. he was about 8 weeks old. now he lives in our backyard fed and healthy :)
Congratulations! Welcome to the kitty mama world! As a kitty mama myself I can say I love the litter deodorizer you have! I use it all the time. I have a couple recs that took me awhile to get once I came in the cat world. This has been amazing helping my anxious boy. It doesn’t have a smell that us humans can smell but it helps your cat feel less anxious because of the pheromone it puts out. Great for a new one in your home! FELIWAY Classic Cat Calming Pheromone Diffuser, 30 Day Starter Kit (48 mL) Also, my husband and I have really liked the Sustainability Yours cat litter. It’s less dusty and clumps tighter than any other litter we’ve ever used. Super happy for you! You’re going to have so much fun with her. ❤
Glad that your mom rescued Lily and that you decided to add her to your family. I'm a rescue kitty parent too and like you, I had no experience raising a newborn kitten. Learned a lot from youtube and many trips to my local pet store locations. You're looking good for starters and I'm sure you're going to love her as she gets smarter and more attached to you and yours. Get Lily at cat fountain or two so she has flowing water throughout your home. I don't use those scents but if you're willing to spend more try Pretty Litter and clean out Lily's litter box every day. Won't have any smell with that tip!
Congrats!! Cats are really cute. I’m sensitive to smells too. Get an automatic self cleaning litter box. Use clumping litter because it really absorbs smells and what’s recommended for the self cleaning litter box. Usually you can allow kittens to eat as much as they want. Cats like lasers and there are automatic laser toys that easily tire them out. My cat travels really well they can adapt easily but it comes with training
I would recomend switching from claysand in the litterbox to organic woodfibre, smells almost anything (the smell are as if you had a pine forrest basicly. In europe its called Catsbest. Its good for clumping as well, and if that wasnt enough you can throw it in the compost.
The refillable green lid/purple lid litter from Petco is my favorite! You reuse the container and refill it out of a big bulk container from the back. I have tried so many kinds and this is my favorite! Clumps great and takes on the smell of any air freshener I have in the room… can’t lie that once and a while if my little fur babes have a fun surprise recently left it will NOT smell good but now a days my bf and I just laugh and open a window! Just like a person!
Congratulations on your sweet kitty!!! She’s so precious. Would recommend natural cat litter (I’ve been using World’s Best Cat Litter for years and it’s made from corn and flushable) and explore cat food that has higher quality protein. There are so many cat food brands out there and it took me forever to find something that is good quality, doesn’t cost a fortune, and something that my kitty enjoys eating.
Congrats on the new addition to your family!!! Although not ideal, a dry food diet (imo) is fine as long as Lily regularly drinks water. You seem to have done a lot of research so you probably already know that cats have a low thirst drive, so my only recommendation is to get a quiet, pet water fountain for convenience. Some cats like still water and some cats like running water so you will just have to figure it out gradually. Good luck!! And Happy New Year.
And some things are good to get them used to: - the pet carrier as in bring her to places that cant be attached to the vet. I carted my cat everywhere in the beginning. When i take out the carrier he jumps in it almost instantly. - Get it used to bathing. They usually keep the coat fine and dandy but once in a while they dont due to things like they dont feel well etc. - My vet also recommend brushing the teeth - You also have started getting her used to the leach and thats good, with some training you can more or less walk her as a dog. Oh and get a good insurance right away if you havent already, the younger the are when getting it the cheaper it is generally.
best thing to eliminate odor is to keep it very clean tbh! scoop daily, get a nearby trash can or just get a pet kit or automatic litter box. i also recommend talking to the vet about her diet and what's best for her because friskies generally isn't the best
What a cutie, I to am sensitive to smell and have a small space, so I found a few recommendations for wet diet to help avoid the smell and it actually makes a big difference. (I guess it’s like someone eats taco bell to someone having a healthy diet, lol) dry food is so over processed. A bit more $ but worth it! Also, concur that Sustainable your and a walnut quick clumping litter is so much better. Seeing your face as you poured it in was the mirror of mine as I watched, lol! Pine smells better too and is super cheap but my cat said no😅
For odor... please get Ever Clean cat litter. it's a little more expensive but worth it. I can literally smell NOTHING when my cat uses it. Every other litter brand I have tried stinks after just a few days but not Ever Clean. it's the best litter I have tired and have all my friends and family using it and they agree. good luck with your new cat!
With my parents and sister that we adopted 3 cats. The 2nd cat was my fault. It turned out to be good thing. That cat was mostly my cat but, he did liked other family members. 3rd cat was just hanging around our home and sleeping in the Jeep CJ-7. That cat came from an abusive background before he was adopted into our home. 1st cat was adopted in mid July 1979. That cat lived the longest and was almost 18 years of friendship with us. Each cat lived in our home together. The 1st 2 cats were friends to each other for a little bit over 12 years. I was lucky to had them.

Did you get the scoop out of the lid? The arm & hammer cat litter deodorizer works best. Then keeping a lil trash can with bag to scoop & take out daily works best. Also sprinkling deodorizer ok the bottom of the box as pee sticks
The lid may be hard for her to open as she's small yet but she's growing!
I think you should remove the bell on her. It can be stressful for kittens because they are so sensitive to sound.
I'm a cat mom and I have a domestic shorthair (common cat)

YAY!! Welcome to the world of cat ownership! I’m actually quite jealous that your baby is so ok with being a purrito/ being held lol😂 my cats hate it
So cute! Cat fountains are also great, my cats love them
Love love this story so much ❤!! Gorgeous little kitty. Thank you for saving her ❤
I'm so happy for your little family!
So cute. Congrats to you for your new kitten. Your mom is so young. Very nice of her and you to help out the kitten.
I love that lucky and lily get along ❤
She's adorable ❤
Hey Miki, thank you for adopting Lily! I am also a Cat Mom and they bring me so much joy and peace. Looking forward to see more of Lily in your next videos.
She’s such a beautiful cat
Congrats on getting a kitty! I use the Exquisicat Naturals Multi-Cat Pine Litter, and it really helps eliminate odour. It’s not a clay clumping litter though, but I actually prefer it way more over that type
Good decision for adopting a cat..bravo 👍
Thanks for saving Lily❤! Cats don't like scented beads or anything else in their toilet. They dig and cover their things. The canvas in it will interfere with her digging properly.Grtz from Belgium 🇧🇪
Kissed by a cat! So precious.
Lily is so beautiful!!
to help with the litter box smell i highly recommend the boxiecat litter and adding some baking soda to the litter. the boxiecat litter has probiotics that will help break down any odor causing bacteria. baking soda is magic too especially when you're scooping. as always, make sure you are cleaning the litter box frequently too! so glad she has a good home!
as a working adult, right now since we're blessed with technology, you can buy the automatic cat litter box. it will totally save your time. including the water fountain and automatic cat feeder that is connected to your phone. im using it and believe me, its so much save my time. haha. So happy to see you adopt a cat..
He is so lucky to have adopted by you!
Ohh he is so cute
That's an amazingly chill kitty to let you hold her belly up, especially being a feral kitten.
we just got the litter robot 4 a few days ago. i was super skeptical as well as my wife and friends but it totally worked. the crazy thing is our cat loves it and other people found this to be true too, leave the old litter box side by side they wont use it. loved your adoption process especially testing to see if she wanted to go back to the wild. (no cat does!) Lily has such expressive and gentle eyes! what an amazingly cute cat.
Lily was God sent. Another one saved and living it's best life
omg she’s so cute and that’s so sweet ❤❤ also for the kitty litter odor there are certain brands of cat litter which are smaller so less harsh on the kitten’s paws and they have a scent that masks the odor. my family gets the litter from costco and the scent is never really bad as long as you take out the litter every 2-3 days. ❤❤
also another tip try not to rub her belly bc a cat’s belly is where their sensitive organs are and that’s the part of their body they try to protect the most
so cute!!!! thank you for saving her!!!
Your gonna love being cat parents ! Cat ownership will change your lives lol a bond you will never forget !
Thank you so much for adopting the stray kitten! welcome to the cat family! She is adorable!!!!
Your mom is so cute! Congratulations on your new baby Lily!
Beautiful cat
She is gorgeous
this is so adorable! i have a little feline friend too and little story, when my dad took her home i was watching your video so we named her Miki 🥺
this is possibly the highest honor I’ve received in life to date 🥹
Adorable!
As a cat owner myself, only thing I’d really suggest is getting one of those “breakaway cat collars.”
I’ve heard from vets of situations where cats, because they like to jump around, end up accidentally hanging themselves.
Omg Lily is such a love!!! So freaking cute and gentle🤍🤍🤍
Omggg, it’s so cuteeeee. Thanks for giving her forever home❤🎉
omg such a pretty cat. same story with me. a stray kitten came to my window meowing her face was bloody from a fight i guess. he was about 8 weeks old. now he lives in our backyard fed and healthy :)
FELIWAY Classic Cat Calming Pheromone Diffuser, 30 Day Starter Kit (48 mL)
Also, my husband and I have really liked the Sustainability Yours cat litter. It’s less dusty and clumps tighter than any other litter we’ve ever used.
Super happy for you! You’re going to have so much fun with her. ❤
Adopt is so much better than buying, thank you !
You and your kitten are equally cute 🥰...
Congratulations on your cat!!! Lilly is adorable!! 😊 ❤.
As a mom of 20 adopted and rescued cats, you are doing fantastic!
Thank you so so much for rescuing her.
Omg soooo cute 😩🥺🥹💖I’m glad that you adopted a stray kitten. Thank you for this video 💖
You should leave some dry food out, and give her wet food once a day. Thank you for saving her. ❤❤❤❤
SHES SUCH A PRETTY CAT
Congratulations on your sweet kitty!!! She’s so precious. Would recommend natural cat litter (I’ve been using World’s Best Cat Litter for years and it’s made from corn and flushable) and explore cat food that has higher quality protein. There are so many cat food brands out there and it took me forever to find something that is good quality, doesn’t cost a fortune, and something that my kitty enjoys eating.
This is beautiful and lily is soooooo adorable!! She melts my heart❤❤❤
And some things are good to get them used to:
- the pet carrier as in bring her to places that cant be attached to the vet. I carted my cat everywhere in the beginning. When i take out the carrier he jumps in it almost instantly.
- Get it used to bathing. They usually keep the coat fine and dandy but once in a while they dont due to things like they dont feel well etc.
- My vet also recommend brushing the teeth
- You also have started getting her used to the leach and thats good, with some training you can more or less walk her as a dog.
You’re so lucky Lily is so cuddly!!!
