Have a wonderful mother's day 💕
Yes! I want to get my hands on a Pink Flamingo as well! Great video. I'd like to see shade plants.
Thanks ladies! I have a dappled willow shrub, and I wasn’t sure if it took cutting back well. Glad to know it does.
I’ve got to get my hands on that Pink Flamingo Willow! It’s gorgeous.
Beautiful shrubs! You always show us great plants to look for. I’m on the other side of the country in NCarolina but I will be looking for them.
Beautiful, beautiful ❤. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for letting us know about the beautiful Pink Flamingo Willow!!!
Beautiful! Thank you for covering all kinds of plants!
This style of video is wonderful!!! Keep it up!
Love Weigela but they don’t like the Oklahoma heat!
What I always have to look for: do deer eat them. I love the willows. I’ve looked at them at the nursery. They had them in small tree form at Lowe’s too. I tried finding the deutsia here locally but haven’t found it. (Longview/Chehalis area). Your channel is a real treat.
Weigela s are one of my favourite shrubs especially the variegated type 😊
Awesome video!!!! I always learn so much! I take screen shots then try to find them to buy!
I luv the willow in standard form
This year I'm trying to learn what to fill my dry shade area with.
I want to try the pink flamingo willow, I'm a zone 9b but my front porch is on the north side of my house & the flower beds there have an interesting little microclimate happening because they are in deep shade from the shadow of the house... I think pink flamingo might work there along with all the ferns.
Love the shrub selection and the fun B-roll ending! Btw, I knew the Willow because I'm always drawn to it in Garden Centers, but I don't have a naturally moist or wet area in my landscape that Willows love. I know newly planted shrubs need extra watering the first year until they are established. After that, I prefer shrubs that are self-sufficient for the most part except for Spring fertilizing and watering in a drought. Thanks for reminding me about Weigela and a bridal-type Spirea. I've been wanting both for years!
Is the Flamingo a dwarf variety? I don't know the variety, but I had 3 Dappled Willows in a bed along road that were absolutely humongous (10 ft perhaps). I finally had to have them taken out because they were impeding vision to get in out and of my driveway. They were beautiful and I got so many compliments on them but they were just too big. Also, they were in full sun. I wonder if I dare plant one in my shade garden - my husband might freak out!
I often wonder why the planting zones only use the low temperature range when so many that share a common low do not share the same high range. England is zone 8 in some regions but does not get the high temps we do here in coastal Virginia where we are also zone 8. My average high in summer is upper eighties lower nineties where GB tops out in the mid seventies even as far south as London. We need a new system.
I'm very nearly tropical in southern coastal Virginia.
I noticed you carry Monrovia plants. Would either of you happen to have the Heavenly Ascent Pink Climbing Rose?
I guess I may have to move my variegated willow. 💐💚🙃
Oh no, is it in the sun? ☀️
I ❤ you have a “Vanna”
Ha, this is my first Vanna experience- glad I pulled it off! 😂
Good Afternoon
Good to 10 degrees or minus 17 degrees
Debbie, I always love your videos even though I am in the Florida panhandle, a very different growing zone 9b. I purchased a distressed plant on sale that I think is a Weigela. I thought it had died but a few weeks ago it started flushing out with the most beautiful leaves and blooms. My cat loves it and rubs up against it and has broken a branch. I’m afraid she is going to kill it because it is still a very small plant. I read that cats do like this plant. Any suggestions to keep her away from the plant? 🐱🌸🥺
I’m always looking for shade tolerant plants, so i was excited about the pink flamingo willow, but the monrovia website suggests that these need full/part sun location. Am i looking at the right plant?
They are listed as full sun / part shade in the UK. I suspect that is because you get the best colour when they have enough light. However, I have 2 which are in full sun, in an exposed location, and they get crispy leaves in the summer. That may not happen with constant watering but it is not very practical. They also suffered die back from the cold winter winds. I suspect that they would be best in a rather sheltered dappled sun/shade location. I must say, as pretty as they are, I regret getting them. They are way too delicate and need too much watering.
