The Bowser Kingdom beanstalk is indeed the best one that I have seen. I've read some comments that mention others, but none come close to the Bowser Kingdom one. I've tested several of them and have included my results below. In the Wooded Kingdom, the same place you find the purse with the coins you can farm, get a seed from the guy. Take it to the top (takes like a minute) and you get an event in the clouds that gives you upwards of 500 coins each time. Enjoy :)
Top of the observation tower where the gliding dino thing is. Use the P button to activate the platforms to get to the top. Then place the seed in the pot for the vine tower to grow
I just wanna say this is a really well put together video that accounts for players both just starting the game (and not wanting spoilers) and for players who've beaten it and are no longer worried about spoilery stuff.
Another tip for the second method (the mummy one), after you capture the Coin Coffer, try stepping on as many of the mummies heads' as you can until you die from attack damage. The mummies drop a coin each and plus, when you're killed, the coins you lose when you die will remain there when you respawn as well so ultimately you wouldn't be losing any coins :)) it's makes more sense than to jump off the edge and lose those ten coins since dying in the arena means they'll still be there for you to collect and won't despawn.
There is a better way, in the Cascade Kingdom there is a mission where you become a t-rex and you need to kill like a hundred small spiky monsters. If you kill all of them you will gain around a hundred coins in like 20 seconds.
In Wooded Kingdom, if you teleport to "Secret Flower Field Entrance" and then walk/run directly behind you, you will see all the robots watering the flowers, if you head to the first mound on the left, you will find another one of those "money purses." Throw cappy at it, claim your 30 coins and then repeat the process until you have the amount of coins you need! NOTE: You HAVE to finish the Boss of this world before you do it.
Yeah, it may be slower than some other methods that were shown on the video, but it gets you 30 coins. Also, I used a stopwatch and times it; You get 30 coins in 23 seconds ever time you do this(I started when I opened the map, I finished when I reopened the map to re-teleport).
This is a spoiler btw What I do is after the coin purse, run to the climbable like to the left, jump off the cliff, throw copy just before landing on the platform with the rings, jump across the spinning platforms, enter the secret room collect all the coins. Basically 100 coin your first go and like 70 after. It all takes less than a minute once you get the route going. Plus the pipe takes you right back to the field, no to. If you die, tp right to the field.
from what i've tested this method gets about 95 coins per minute, whereas the bowser's kingdom trick gets about 180 coins per minute. It's still a valid method, but the one shown in the video is twice as fast
the bowser level is the only one you should be using honestly(unless you haven't gotten that far yet) it's very quick, you don't lose "lives" and boots you right outside the mound of dirt so you can start again immediately.
If you can master a koopa expert race, and get it under 25 seconds, which is easiest on metro kingdom or lake kingdom, it's possible to get it under 18 seconds. Every time you win you gain 100 coins, so you can get 300 coins every minute, and get max coins in just 40 minutes, but this requires skill.
There’s a good one but it’s end-game. In the mushroom kingdom, the fastest koopa race is there, around 15 seconds if you get the flowers and don’t hit anything. Once you win again after getting both power moons, you start getting 50 coins per win. Aside from the 5 second intro scene everytime, it’s around 150 coins/minute.

Well, maybe the bowser kingdom start is a bit quicker. It may be less in coin worth, but the seed is almost next to the dirt, and you get through it really fast. While in the snow kingdom, the seed is quite a bit away, and it takes a while to get through the area.
It actually doesn't matter which area or Kingdom is better in my opinion I say any Kingdom would still get you plenty of Gold Coins as long as your getting all the Coins you need that's all that's matter
I have to use CCs due to hearing problems so if you mentioned it I didn't see it or did I see it in the comments but super helpful tip for the Bowser coin grind. Let the plant carry you up and don't touch the control stick you position yourself perfectly straight to always catch 99% of the coins, the only ones you may miss will be the end rings if you don't ground pound at the right time. Easiest method without having to steer Mario at all. Makes it much faster too.

When you finish the game and hit the metallic cube in the Ruined Kingdom, there is a level where you can hit those weird mummies with a football tackler. I really don't have a better name for the two. Anyways, each mummy gives you one coin. However, they don't stop spawning from the ground, so if you just go around the whole area, which isn't that big to begin with, and kill the mummies, you can easily get around 50 coins in 10-15 seconds, and it doesn't require that much work.
This way probably isn’t the best way to get coins but if you go to New Donk City and go to the auditorium you can talk to someone and the festival and that will give you 200 - 300 coins and when you are done it spawns you right back where you talked to the guy.
If you wanna grind really early on, the TRex room in Cascade Kingdom is about 110 coins a minute if you stomp all the enemies/break the upper blocks. Not as good as some of the later ones, but a decent spot.
Another one (spoiler) play the koopa racing game next to the lake in mushroom kingdom. Race lasts about 14.02 (my record) seconds. 1st time you earn a moon, then you earn 50 coins per run.
In Ruined Kingdom after you beat Bowser and break the silver block a pipe appears next to the Odyssey where you use the football guy to break stuff and hit mummies. About 85 to 100 coins each time. I got around 1000 coins every 15 min
Another good way to farm coins is in the ruined kingdom. After you get the Mom block, a passage will open up where you tackle the skeleton ghost things that come out of the ground with the football player. You get about 130 coins each time
I haven't seen anybody talking about the Metro Kingdom Festival. you can get up to 305 coins per run, which lasts about three minutes. to make the farming even faster, you can die at the end of the level, losing ten coins but quickly restarting at the beginning of the stage. shaving off quite a few seconds from the loading time you'd have if you went all the way through the end of the stage.
In the wooded kingdom on top of the observation deck there is a spot to put an acorn in. You take the acorn from the robot near the flower boss room and also capture the coin purse for more coins and bring it to the acorn area. It has a pretty easy coin farm and i usually get 200-250 coins per run plus the coin purse next to the robot
The "in the sky" challenge in the Snow Kingdom is my coin farm of choice, activate it the same way as the Bowser's Kingdom one. Rather than panicking with the rocket flowers, it's a spin-jump flower area with a LOT of coin hoops in. I used it to max out my coins and get the skeleton outfit. Not sure of the actual return, but I'd say you get roughly 150 coins per time.
In the wooded kingdom in the entrance to the flower field there is a seed bot and a money purse. If you get a seed you can take it to a p switch which will lead you to a pot. It will grow into a beanstalk and take you to another bonus level where you play as one of those stretchy onion things and collect a lot of coins.
In the Moon Kingdom, you can go to the big bullet bill part in the cave (after the Tropical Wiggler & Hammer Bros part). Capture the Big Bullet bill with a hat as you walk to the blaster. Spam X/Y to capture it fast. Make sure not to try to get to it TOO FAST, as you may lose a sector. Go right, hit the blocks, accelerate as much as you can, and hit all the bullet bills and collect all the coin rings. Hit the big bullet bill and destroy the blocks. Then, instead of going on as you're supposed to, go to the edge of the world and point your left stick at the wall. You'll lose 6/5/4/3/2/1 sectors in less than 2.5 seconds. I went from 2958 coins to 3026 coins using it. It took 24 seconds to do. 3026-2958=68. 68/24=2.83. 2.83*60=170. 170 coins per minute. Not too shabby. p.s, it gains 10188 coins per hour. it takes 3534 seconds to get 9999 coins. you're welcome
Some people may have said this before, but... a. The 'Coin Purse' is called the Coin Koffer b. Assist Mode can nullify the 10 coins you lose from falling down a pit, and gives you 6 hit points which can regenerate if you stand still. c. Any area with a lot of coins around a checkpoint flag can be regenerated by simply teleporting to the flag, regardless of distance.
You’re leaving a really good way out. Just keep participating in the metro kingdom festival over and over again. You make 200 coins every time! (possibly 300) That’s the strategy that I use. 😉
I know a fast way. In snow kingdom, if you grab the seed at the hill (not in that mall but just outside, in all the snow) and then plant the seed in the pot it grows a tree that goes to the clouds. In that clouds is a special level where are THOUSANDS gold coin rings. For my feeling this is a faster way to farm coins then the bowser kingdom one

6:00 something to add if ur like me and find getting all the coins like this hard- if you ground pound after a jump aith the flower, they disapper, letting you get all the coins there before hitting the next batcj of flowers. Slower for sure,but you pretty much garenettee all the coins!!
I’ve done #1 a bunch of times and I counted; you get 180 coins each time if you get all the coins, coin rings, and one (clear) moon. It’ll waste time to get the other moon just for a bit more and it’ll make you miss a bunch of more coins if you don’t ground pound to stop, so don’t go for it.
There are 2 very lucrative 1 time rewards in the very last kingdom unlocked with 500 moons by answering all of the Sphynx's questions correctly (after it moves) and then behind the tower at the very end before you climb it to get the multi-moon.
Ya, because if there's one thing we need help with in Mario Odyssey, it's finding coins. I mean where are all those coins? I just can't seem to find any.
My favorite coin farming spot is the beanstalk area in the Snow Kingdom. It takes maybe 2 minutes and can get you 197 to 202 coins depending on whether you backtrack a bit to get the clear Power Moon.
On the last way to farm coins, the gold rings at the end. Right when you fall off, throw Cappy backwards (toward the rings) and stops momentum from flowers to get a little extra coins
Luigi's balloon game is very effective in the post game, especially if you go to the world that has the temporary increase in the amount of coins you collect. I used it just today to get over 15,000 coins and purchase numerous different end game costumes.
I know others have mentioned Luigi"s balloon game, but for those who have already beat the game, it is by far the quickest way to farm coins. my recommendation would be to it in moon kingdom(or mushroom kingdom), as they are small, open, have very little climbing and obstacles, and there are only so many places to hide balloons. once you play for a while, you can ussually tell where a balloon is(or at least the general area) before you select it. instead of going for 4 or 500 coin balloons(or whatever they are), try instead to only go for balloons you know you can get, and make up for the smaller reward of finding these easier balloons by getting the points for time bonus and especially for consecutive balloons popped. by doing this you can easily string 20+ ball on pops in a row(though you will generally have 9999 coins by then anyway.) I imagine this also helps you level up more quickly than going for harder balloons, but missing half the time(or more.) while you can go to the kingdom that is currently giving out bonus coins, in my experience just sticking to the moon kingdom or mushroom kingdom works best(though to be fair, I have spent almost no time in the other kingdoms doing the balloon game, so you guys may be better than me at it.) as for hiding balloons, you can also look up good hiding spots on UA-cam(unless you consider that cheating, or want to feel the satisfaction of finding a good spot on your own.)
Actually, the best way to grind coins and enjoy it is by trying to speedrun koopa the quick. I maxed out my coins without even noticing it, it is by far the best strategy
There is a room in the cascade kingdom with a sleeping T-rex, that if you capture, you can run in a circle smashing a lot of objects and those colourful spiky enemies, giving you a lot of coins really fast.
If you go to Wooded Kingdom, Teleport to "Secret Flower Field Entrance" and there will be frog type thing(Note: you gotta walk towards it to see it), throw Cappy at it and they'll capture it and you get coins, then teleport to a flag somewhere else then back and you can repeat.
Here's an important tidbit about the #1 method: Do not collect every single fire flower you pass along the way. The amount of time you spend running is cumulative, so if you get too many flowers, you will careen right off the edge of the level and miss all the rings going straight down at the end. Get every other flower (grab the first one, skip second, grab third, skip last) and you will land perfectly on the last platform to collect all the coins, roll to the end, and drop straight down for maximum coin collection.
Wooded Kingdom > Garden Boss checkpoint > take over Coin Frog in the garden > hop over the railing > get 20 or so hidden coins over the stretchy plant section scaffolding > kill the Coin Frog (optional) > warp back to the Garden Boss checkpoint > repeat
In the snow kingdom if you grab the giant acorn that is frozen and go onto the stalk in that special area you can get at least 200 coins just did it and got 202
I prefer the beanstalk in wooded kingdom. The one on the secret flower field entrance. If you warp there, you get 5 coins from the moon, 30 from the coin coffer, 8 from killing the coffer. That's 43 prior to the beanstalk, which is in that same area. In the beanstalk level you get 10 from both moons and 230 from coins + the 43 you got prior = 273 coins total. Then when you go back to get the seed, you can get those 43 again from the moon and the coffer. Rinse and repeat.
Another option other than warping is take the shortcut pipe. Also the max coins in the cloud area is 185. Also hear is a tip to slow down when you reach the end. Ground pound and get the coins. I also got all 185 coins! Here's that tip. At the area with the extra power moon, ground pound, collect the moon, collect the coins in the next path, take the flower and jump perfectly through the rings and ground pound at the last section and continue on.
On number 1, you only have to throw your hat three times for the run; once at the start, once in the middle next to the bonus moon, and once at the end to butt stomp the rings. You don't have to keep throwing the hat for flowers, they're in your path already :). Also, when getting the seed quickly grab the 5 coin heart in the box along the way. I got my 9999 in about 45-55 mins this way.
Actually, The method I used for the money bag one is to attempt to kill all the mummy dudes which give you coins. And the best part is that when you die, you can easily get those 10 coins back. :3

I use the vine in the Snow Kingdom, I believe it nets more than the bowsers kingdom level.

In Ruined Kingdom after you beat Bowser and break the silver block a pipe appears next to the Odyssey where you use the football guy to break stuff and hit mummies. About 85 to 100 coins each time. I got around 1000 coins every 15 min
Another good way to farm coins is in the ruined kingdom. After you get the Mom block, a passage will open up where you tackle the skeleton ghost things that come out of the ground with the football player. You get about 130 coins each time
The passage is a pipe right by the Odyssey
Ah yes, using a method that gets you less coins than a more common method
I haven't seen anybody talking about the Metro Kingdom Festival. you can get up to 305 coins per run, which lasts about three minutes. to make the farming even faster, you can die at the end of the level, losing ten coins but quickly restarting at the beginning of the stage. shaving off quite a few seconds from the loading time you'd have if you went all the way through the end of the stage.
I think the Shiveria bean secret is better

In the wooded kingdom on top of the observation deck there is a spot to put an acorn in. You take the acorn from the robot near the flower boss room and also capture the coin purse for more coins and bring it to the acorn area. It has a pretty easy coin farm and i usually get 200-250 coins per run plus the coin purse next to the robot
The "in the sky" challenge in the Snow Kingdom is my coin farm of choice, activate it the same way as the Bowser's Kingdom one. Rather than panicking with the rocket flowers, it's a spin-jump flower area with a LOT of coin hoops in. I used it to max out my coins and get the skeleton outfit.
Not sure of the actual return, but I'd say you get roughly 150 coins per time.

You talk to a guy just left of the stage near the front. He'll ask if you want to do the festival again and then you say yes and it starts again.
Quick tip: I found ground pound jumps are good for tight areas, as opposed to side flips and triple jumps
If you kill the coin purse afterwards it will give you more coins

Why not say the festival game in New donk city?
In the wooded kingdom in the entrance to the flower field there is a seed bot and a money purse. If you get a seed you can take it to a p switch which will lead you to a pot. It will grow into a beanstalk and take you to another bonus level where you play as one of those stretchy onion things and collect a lot of coins.

In the Moon Kingdom, you can go to the big bullet bill part in the cave (after the Tropical Wiggler & Hammer Bros part).
Capture the Big Bullet bill with a hat as you walk to the blaster. Spam X/Y to capture it fast.
Make sure not to try to get to it TOO FAST, as you may lose a sector.
Go right, hit the blocks, accelerate as much as you can, and hit all the bullet bills and collect all the coin rings.
Hit the big bullet bill and destroy the blocks. Then, instead of going on as you're supposed to, go to the edge of the world and
point your left stick at the wall. You'll lose 6/5/4/3/2/1 sectors in less than 2.5 seconds.
I went from 2958 coins to 3026 coins using it.
It took 24 seconds to do.
3026-2958=68.
68/24=2.83.
2.83*60=170.
170 coins per minute. Not too shabby.

The lunchon kingdom plaza has a lot of ways to farm coin also
Some people may have said this before, but...
a. The 'Coin Purse' is called the Coin Koffer
b. Assist Mode can nullify the 10 coins you lose from falling down a pit, and gives you 6 hit points which can regenerate if you stand still.
c. Any area with a lot of coins around a checkpoint flag can be regenerated by simply teleporting to the flag, regardless of distance.

I know a fast way. In snow kingdom, if you grab the seed at the hill (not in that mall but just outside, in all the snow) and then plant the seed in the pot it grows a tree that goes to the clouds. In that clouds is a special level where are THOUSANDS gold coin rings. For my feeling this is a faster way to farm coins then the bowser kingdom one

I just keep doing the Bowser's Kingdom minigame run, I earn 1000 in under 5 minutes as long as everything is continuously executed correctly.
Another option is Koopa freerunning. I got 300 coins in 6 goes

6:00 something to add if ur like me and find getting all the coins like this hard- if you ground pound after a jump aith the flower, they disapper, letting you get all the coins there before hitting the next batcj of flowers. Slower for sure,but you pretty much garenettee all the coins!!

There's a costume that costs 9999 coins, and plenty more post game outfits that cost over 1k each, so farming is definitely necessary

I’ve done #1 a bunch of times and I counted; you get 180 coins each time if you get all the coins, coin rings, and one (clear) moon. It’ll waste time to get the other moon just for a bit more and it’ll make you miss a bunch of more coins if you don’t ground pound to stop, so don’t go for it.

There are 2 very lucrative 1 time rewards in the very last kingdom unlocked with 500 moons by answering all of the Sphynx's questions correctly (after it moves) and then behind the tower at the very end before you climb it to get the multi-moon.

My favorite coin farming spot is the beanstalk area in the Snow Kingdom. It takes maybe 2 minutes and can get you 197 to 202 coins depending on whether you backtrack a bit to get the clear Power Moon.

On the last way to farm coins, the gold rings at the end. Right when you fall off, throw Cappy backwards (toward the rings) and stops momentum from flowers to get a little extra coins

Luigi's balloon game is very effective in the post game, especially if you go to the world that has the temporary increase in the amount of coins you collect. I used it just today to get over 15,000 coins and purchase numerous different end game costumes.
I know others have mentioned Luigi"s balloon game, but for those who have already beat the game, it is by far the quickest way to farm coins.
my recommendation would be to it in moon kingdom(or mushroom kingdom), as they are small, open, have very little climbing and obstacles, and there are only so many places to hide balloons.
once you play for a while, you can ussually tell where a balloon is(or at least the general area) before you select it. instead of going for 4 or 500 coin balloons(or whatever they are), try instead to only go for balloons you know you can get, and make up for the smaller reward of finding these easier balloons by getting the points for time bonus and especially for consecutive balloons popped. by doing this you can easily string 20+ ball on pops in a row(though you will generally have 9999 coins by then anyway.) I imagine this also helps you level up more quickly than going for harder balloons, but missing half the time(or more.)
while you can go to the kingdom that is currently giving out bonus coins, in my experience just sticking to the moon kingdom or mushroom kingdom works best(though to be fair, I have spent almost no time in the other kingdoms doing the balloon game, so you
guys may be better than me at it.)
as for hiding balloons, you can also look up good hiding spots on UA-cam(unless you consider that cheating, or want to feel the satisfaction of finding a good spot on your own.)
Actually, the best way to grind coins and enjoy it is by trying to speedrun koopa the quick. I maxed out my coins without even noticing it, it is by far the best strategy
There is a room in the cascade kingdom with a sleeping T-rex, that if you capture, you can run in a circle smashing a lot of objects and those colourful spiky enemies, giving you a lot of coins really fast.

If you go to Wooded Kingdom, Teleport to "Secret Flower Field Entrance" and there will be frog type thing(Note: you gotta walk towards it to see it), throw Cappy at it and they'll capture it and you get coins, then teleport to a flag somewhere else then back and you can repeat.

Here's an important tidbit about the #1 method: Do not collect every single fire flower you pass along the way. The amount of time you spend running is cumulative, so if you get too many flowers, you will careen right off the edge of the level and miss all the rings going straight down at the end. Get every other flower (grab the first one, skip second, grab third, skip last) and you will land perfectly on the last platform to collect all the coins, roll to the end, and drop straight down for maximum coin collection.

Wooded Kingdom > Garden Boss checkpoint > take over Coin Frog in the garden > hop over the railing > get 20 or so hidden coins over the stretchy plant section scaffolding > kill the Coin Frog (optional) > warp back to the Garden Boss checkpoint > repeat
In the snow kingdom if you grab the giant acorn that is frozen and go onto the stalk in that special area you can get at least 200 coins just did it and got 202
I prefer the beanstalk in wooded kingdom. The one on the secret flower field entrance. If you warp there, you get 5 coins from the moon, 30 from the coin coffer, 8 from killing the coffer. That's 43 prior to the beanstalk, which is in that same area. In the beanstalk level you get 10 from both moons and 230 from coins + the 43 you got prior = 273 coins total. Then when you go back to get the seed, you can get those 43 again from the moon and the coffer. Rinse and repeat.
I seen this one on internet somwere and it's pretty easy. With this route you can get like 1000 coins in one minute

Another option other than warping is take the shortcut pipe. Also the max coins in the cloud area is 185. Also hear is a tip to slow down when you reach the end. Ground pound and get the coins. I also got all 185 coins! Here's that tip. At the area with the extra power moon, ground pound, collect the moon, collect the coins in the next path, take the flower and jump perfectly through the rings and ground pound at the last section and continue on.

On number 1, you only have to throw your hat three times for the run; once at the start, once in the middle next to the bonus moon, and once at the end to butt stomp the rings. You don't have to keep throwing the hat for flowers, they're in your path already :). Also, when getting the seed quickly grab the 5 coin heart in the box along the way. I got my 9999 in about 45-55 mins this way.

Actually, The method I used for the money bag one is to attempt to kill all the mummy dudes which give you coins. And the best part is that when you die, you can easily get those 10 coins back. :3
