I work at a youth camp, and we have “bigger”kids come out to the playground, they will rock back and forth on the spring rocker rides, until they literally snap the springs in half. I’ve tried welding them in many many different ways, to keep it from happening, but we still have 2 or 3 break every year. They are made from 18 wheeler coil over suspension springs. Super tough, but give a kid 5 minutes, and…….. at 10:23 you ask if anyone has ever seen one break.

Calling something impossible in the first year of a game being out is never a good idea. Never underestimate the amount of game breaking strats the speed running community will find.
I don't think most of these were ever truly considered impossible. Impossible jump just became a term for (for that time atleast) extremely difficult jumps in this game.
I absolutely love that modern Nintendo games still let you have challenges like this that don't come with a "tangible reward." Kirby and the Forgotten Land is full of secrets just like this as well and it's such a nice change of pace from lootbox- and reward-oriented gaming.

When he said it is "impossible" to break those spring animal toys on the playground, I immediately thought he should speedrun that to see.
I'm pretty sure unless one's rusted out completely, the stress on it will be less than the fatigue strength of the springs, so no matter what you do it will not break.
maybe if you were strong/heavy/quick enough while bouncing it back and forth, you could get it to heat up until it melted lmao

I recall there being a few things. Am glad you mentioned DGR's proper series title in case there was confusion there. That said, I remember the New Donk City jump being given the nickname "The Impossible Jump", which I'm not sure if the original nickname came from DGR or elsewhere?
And so later videos may include anything from references to the New Donk nickname, DGR videos, or just happenstance labeling of "impossible" unrelated to either of those two things.

Man this game has the best physics out of any Mario game imo. The reward and amount of things to master for veterans is amazing, while also being really simple to get into.

Ugh I've been playing off-and-on since January 2022 (I know, I'm late to the party), and I can't do most of this stuff. It's frustrating, but I'm glad that there are lots of people who can do truly astounding things in this game. I wonder if any of these were NOT intended by the developers and were just a weird thing that players found out later.

In metro, there is a subway that you need to get all moon shares in a maze like building. You go through a pipe connected to a brick tower. Get on the brick tower by triple jumping on the maze like building (it’s glass)

well, its all about the point of view. if it took you only 40 mins to complete a challenge, that previosly took the original creator multiple hours, then the challenge is not difficult. Its debatable though what is "easy" in that case.

I wonder if any of these "Impossible Jumps" would be useful in Hid n Seek
Probably just the painting jumps in Lake Kingdom and Snow Kingdom. Most of these jumps are simply from higher ground to lower ground easily just walked to normally. Then again, all the paintings can just be warped to so maybe it's not that good of a hiding spot. Good for maybe Balloon World though.
I remember doing the snow kingdom jump from the Odyssey to the painting platform back before it started getting called snow dram, I felt like I mastered the game. But I could never figure out the new donk jump on my own.

I actually did the second one in like 5 minutes in 1p mode. You have to either roll cancel triple jump off the edge or vault off of it and then vector a lot. It’s hard but it’s not to the scale of some of the other ones.
The jump to that island in lost was so easy that ant did it in 0 seconds.
