    You know what else is bothering, the fact that you don’t get to have your outfit be in different colors! Like if you join Shu, you should wear green, or if you’re on the side of Wei, then you wear blue, and if Wu, red!

      @Cardoza.Nsmg3 17 днів тому +3

      Can’t say it’s dull but I am impatient trying to build the character to its strong form and this game needs more enemies and better presentations of the enemies when you fight them, it’s very old looking and boring af library idk man Japanese type vibe it ain’t it. Neeeds a newer striking palette to where it’s noticeable the enemies fly out of your way and when their is more enemies they should think of a way to make it immersive the the attacks again. I think this game needs more attacks presentations off the bat rather than jsut giving us 4 special move attacks and give us like 5 or 4 mousou moves if not, we need a bigger view of the battlefield and a shit ton of more enemies atleast 50,000 enemies and let us have a sonically sound moveset and a better cinematic experience I think it’s kind atrocious looking in right in your face ways with coming up to the enemy groups sometimes.

      The lack of playable characters in itself is not necessarily a deal breaker for me, but It's a shame that we don't have a customizable character and a lot more outfits and weapons to make up for it, I don't really feel like Ziluan is "my" character as a result. I didn't think it was going to bother me that much at first, but it really really does. Especially when they get new designs, it's like, why would you I don't want to play these characters? Cao Cao is a bad guy. He kidnapped the current Emporor, held him hostage, and used the Emporor to pass on laws and stuff.
    Liu Bei is a bad guy. He had his followers jump into their death, dragged on wars with his indecisiveness and his hypocrite "virtue." He also threw his infant son on the ground and made him stupid.
    The Sun family is also bad people, Sun Jian stole the Jade seal, Sun Ce was arrogant, his strategist Zhou Yu was also arrogant. Sun Quan was okay, but he was insignificant, their sister Sun Shangxiang was married off to Liu Bei because Zhou Yu was stupid, also she tried to steal Liu Bei son and deflected back to Wu when Liu Bei grew too powerful.
    What I'm trying to say is, let's be real, people are heroes in their own stories, and villains in others, so calling Wei bad and hating on them doesn't seem fair.
    Sorry about the rant. I heard hating on my boy Cao Cao and got triggered.

      @Raptoriago 16 днів тому +8

      Let's not forget that cao cao had a tendency for stealing other peoples widows and that he's number 1 tactic in war was terror, so he would pass throught villages killing anyone and everyone in his wake, also he ordered that each Yuan shao soldier captured got their ears and noses cut off, and after winning the guandu battle he executed 70-80k surrendered soldiers, he also had desired to be becoming emperor eventually becoming prince which only "Liu"s were allowed to become.
      If you compare him with others Cao Cao "bad" behaviour is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worst than Sun and Liu bei bad behaviour combine, Cao was hated and feared by almost everybody.
      I'm not saying that Koei is doing great with their portrayal about those 3 but the missbehaviour that people try to push to justify that Cao Cao was not as bad compare to Liu Bei and Sun quan is really not plausible.

      @@Raptoriago more than trying to make Cao Cao the "Good Guy" i would prefer if they stopped the Whole Shu being the Good guy narrative that most of Dynasty Warriors games try to push and instead do a more Neutral stand point... • @Raptoriago
      @Raptoriago 16 днів тому +3

      @@blackfangex6813 I disagree in two points:
      The first: That Koei portrays Shu is the Good Guy, for what i see the "dynasty" that you choose to play is the most righteous and saint and the others are the spawn of devil on earth, it was my impression through DW7-8 campaing. I would prefer to show more about unique views with their flaws and more side development.
      the second: That Origins by putting much view in Liu Bei being the moral one and virtues one; it follows in line with the huge perception of people of that time that cao cao was the most vile person alive and the only one who could rival him was Liu bei, so making Baoling more towards liu bei than cao illustrate great this kind of thought, i don't find perfect or ideal but at least is not as forced as people claims to be.

    For me, my biggest grips are the silent protagonist thing(especially since we can’t customize him), only having 10 weapons, and the removing of characters who appeared during this time(i’m OK with them not being playable, but they should at least be here). Also, there seems to be some indication based off of some voice lines that certain characters drop that there was a gender swap option, and I wonder why it was removed.

      I mean I like the fact that there are much fewer characters. In the old dynasty warriors most of the cast was just fillers for different weapons for the most part with maybe one small moment for a large part of the cast. Now with only a handful they have flushed out and made most of the cast stand out as characters now with personality's outside of a single character trait. It's a improvement from a story telling pov from the old games and it keeps the main story and makes the characters feel more impact full

    • @nobodynamedmatlock
      @nobodynamedmatlock 16 днів тому +9

      @@insidechaos4913 Much fewer? They went from 90 to zero. I'm not considering Ziluan a character because they have no character. If they want to trim the playable cast down, that's okay but it'd be nice to be able to play as other characters ATLEAST in a free mode or something. I think if they wanted to do a nameless hero, it would have been better to let you create a character, pick a kingdom to join as a recruit, and work your way up the ranks to become a hero.

    • @thechugg4372
      @thechugg4372 15 днів тому

      It's a weird situation, they can easily make us play as the other characters but you have to remember the entire game only has 10 movesets, would the clones not be annoying, as warriors fans always complain about?

    • @insidechaos4913
      @insidechaos4913 15 днів тому

      @nobodynamedmatlock well with the if I remember correctly 21 characters in the game they all have gotten their own storyline and are active members of their factions plot so all of them now have a roll.
      For a free mode they do have one where after you beat the story you can go back and play any time in said route again so it's there and what would playing as other characters do when you all share the same moveset for the weapons you have now. They cut down the weapons and now every one of them feel different to use and play with much better with the quality of the gear over quantity.
      For your last point for the nations because they are adding someone to the romance it doesn't make much sense to let you pick a faction from day one due to the sun family not haveing any real interaction with the yellow turban unlike Wei and shu do. That would make you have to have a different start point if you pick them and that makes a clear storyline much harder to do plus for new entrys into the game they wouldn't know who to pick and this way they can see all 3 sides and can have a clear idea who to pick when that point comes.

      @@insidechaos4913there are so many characters in the romance of the three kingdoms story. Even in the novels, majority of them (even cool ones with great moments) don’t get a lot of “screen time”, and are mainly relegated to supporting roles.
      The story is about the lords, strategists, and a few key heroes. Not every character needs a deep exploration of their motives and backstories.
      Even in the 2010 chinese adaptation, that spanned 95 episodes (45 min each), Xiahou Dun had a SINGLE SCENE. It was cool to see him fight Guan Yu, but beyond that, i don’t care what his favorite color is.

    The worst Thing about Origins is definitly how they inserted the MC into the established Story and the relationship between the old characters and the new MC.
    I'm absolutely Not against having a consistent Main character to Play, but how the Story was written around him Just feels Like self-insert fanffiction.
    Every character instantly adores ziluan and bends over Backwards to get in His good graces. At some points it borders in character assassination.
    Liu Bei trusts you more than His sworn Brothers.
    Diaochan loves you, instead of LuBu. In fact almost every female character seems to be instantly in Love with ziluan.

      Each weapon type is greatly expanded upon and has many skills to learn/use. They aren’t just simple normal/strong attack combo chains anymore. I personally liked the weapon/combat system in this game more than I did in any other Dynasty warriors game. They even have challenges for you to do to unlock legendary weapons (akin to 4th weapons in DW3 -DW5). There’s less weapon types but plenty of variety in combat that it beats having 50 weapon choices, IMO (a fan playing DW since DW3 first came out).

    Wth Sun Jian Hypotheticals and Sun Ce being alive, it is really kinda boring, The only difference is that Sun Jian and Sun Ce rescues the Emperor at the very end. Nothing Changes with the battles or the events later on. Sun Jian took roughly 5 years to apparently recover his injuries, and he doesn't come back AFTER Yuan Shao and/or Yuan Shu dies, which was the entire point why he decided to stay away. He is literally famed as a living legend for the family, and decides to not get involved which potentially could've lead Sun Ce's death (if we don't rescue him), as well as leaving a 18 year old (Sun Quan) to manage his "Kingdom".
    I would say that the Hypotheticals are kinda a miss for this one. No new Battles that I felt was unlocked nor made a major impact.
    With the bonding sections with the Female Character, Diao Chan is potentially the only one that makes sense. Lady Zhen (or Zhenji) marries Cao PI (who is not in this game though), around 204, after the Yuan Family collapses. So interaction prior to this made sense, maybe a little bit after the marriage as well, where she expresses that she is just in a cage, just married to a different house. Historically, She also witness many of her maids being brutatelly pluesured by males and was saved by Cao Pi intervention only because of her appearance. Yueying already married Zhuge Liang, however it is possible Yueying did liked the "Hero" because Females in Historic China were not allowed to be proactive or Smart, usually are just Maids or house-wives. Historically, her parents said she was ugly, and mostly likely many males didn't like her. The "Hero" presumably didn't mind it, similarly to how Zhuge Liang, who didn't cared about her appearance, but like who she is. She presumably didn't had much interaction with male friends, thus didn't really know her boundaries.
    With Diao Chan, she is kinda a Folklore, many believing she isn't real, where there are many interpretation of who she is. She may be in love with Lu Bu, or maybe it was just a ruse inorder to just kill of Dong Zhuo, and really just likes the "Hero". We are also given a theme that only Legends with massive FolkLores , Such as Guan Yu (where he has the most amount of interaction with the hero, and is the first person to meet him) , Zhuge Liang (Sleeping Dragon) and Pang Tong (the Immortal Phenoix) knows the existences of the Hero. So Diao Chan, whom is also a legend/ based on FolkLore, could potentially end up with the "Hero".

    On a different note, I had your No.2 item in my brain for a while last night and kind of figured it out this morning. One of Cao Cao's nicknames is, "Hero of Chaos." Your role and Bailuan's role is to be, "Guardians of Peace." Peace vs Chaos is what Bailuan is playing into.
    Bailuan sees Liu Bei as the most peaceful and wants to support him. He sees Wu and Wei as obstructions to his goal of Liu Bei having success. He is only okay with Wu when Sun Quan allies Wu with Shu. So, if you don't follow Liu Bei or ally with Liu Bei, Bailuan sees you as an advisory. If you follow Cao Cao as Ziluan, you are committing a cardinal sin because you as the Guardian of Peace are supporting the Hero of Chaos. To Bailuan, that goes against everything that you should stand for.
    The trade off in that is the Wei heroes seem to have well built out backstories.

    There is actually a "w" component in "Sun" (technical term is "rounded")
    "swan" is indeed incorrect though, especially the two syllable way of how it's done in DWO
    It's a "close back rounded vowel" diphthonged into neutral schwa (mid central vowel), but it's also still a single syllable
    But, there is basically no way to convey that to a general English speaking audience via the Latin alphabet
    If anything it tells me the direction is actually trying to get them to speak mandarin, just it's too hard for the VAs.
    Many of the pronunciations from the older games you are familiar is also super wrong anyways (it's not the "soon" family, as you have pronounced either)
    so the whole thing is just a lost cause, I wouldn't worry about it

    The one thing I will defend about Sun Jian is him faking his death. I think if this game got DLC or a Sequel, the explanation would be that Sun Jian was in hiding but still watching over his family from a distance. That way if the Sun family were ever in huge trouble, he could act as backup/reinforcements in a battle.
    THAT SAID, DW 7 or 8 (I can't remember which) did a better job of an alternate scenario where Sun Jian survives. Basically him telling Sun Ce that now he is the leader of the Wu/Family since Sun Jian is realizing he's getting too old for combat and is basically a walking liability for the warriors.
    I do wish the game included an alternate Battle of Chibi where you could have Sun Jian and possibly even Sun Ce if you saved him too launching a surprise attack on the Wei from behind their lines. Or heck just even showing up as generals in the battle, causing the Wei to become demoralized as they are "Seeing the dead come back to life." Like the idea being they think the Heavens literally resurrected Sun Jian and Sun Ce just to punish Cao Cao.

    Okay i just beat my first playthough and I think i know a decent way they could have done bailuan.
    What could have happened was zuahe doesnt die, and thier is a 3rd natural born guardian from the village along with us the player. (4 total) the attack happens we the player lose our memories and all 4 guardians end up going seperate ways.
    Bailuan sees lui bei as the hero
    Zuahe could see the sun Family as the heros
    3rd guardian sees Cao Cao as the hero
    This gives every faction a hidden guardian helped them and hindering the others.
    We the outsider who was taken into the village and becoming a guardian, keep the main position of choosing who we want as leader, and who we see as the hero. But now see between 3 others perspectives to why each is a hero or false idol.
    At least to me this would be better then the single faction favoritism lui bei gets.

    Great video man! The pronunciations also got to me too. I feel like they were trying to get them to pronounce the names based on the proper tonal inflection, which is difficult to describe to someone who hasn't tried to learn the language. As an example, the first u for Lu Bu is almost said with the throat position of an E and the mouth position of U. I believe the issues with the Swan family is that the tone on the U is supposed to move upward and it can almost sounds like they're saying Suh-an. I appreciate the attempts, but they constantly pulled me out of the game when it happened.

    10. I can forgive the forced tutorial since this *is* a major revamp, but no manual saves during combat REALLY sucks, especially on Hero difficulty. Some of the story missions are pretty massive with a lot happening in them, and having to redo whole minutes of progress due to an unlucky encounter or a plot-critical ally getting wiped hurts.
    9. Yeah, this one I agree with. I can understand being defenseless in deep water that requires you to swim, but all of a sudden putting away your weapon and slowing to a crawl in waist-deep creeks that don't even have active currents? While enemies are actively shooting at you? Ridiculous. Even worse, it yanks you off your horse just to force you into the 'waterwalk' animation. Why? If Ziluan can stand upright in it, a steed should be able to run through it.
    8. Ah, the old 'this is gonna happen & there's nothing you can do about it' scripted events. Poorly scripted at that, I see. I've never had too much issue with it (seeing them as part of certain stages' gimmicks if anything), but making them occur in such contrived manners is, well...stupid. As shown in your example. What army general with even an inkling of battle experience goes charging into the enemy camp solo??
    7. I can see where you're coming from. Once in a while is fine, these are some the smartest minds in the country & it's literally part of their job to think of potential dangers along the journey. But pointing out almost every way something could go wrong before it happens borders on precognition, and not acting on such valid concerns is even more ludicrous. It's like the devs are wagging their eyebrows at the series vets who already know what happens.
    6. Skipped this entry cause I haven't done a full Wu playthrough yet, though I have seen Sun Jian's death scene. It already seemed extra sus to me, but seeing it on a list like this only makes me wonder how poorly the hypothetical side of it gets handled.
    5. UGH. Silent, non-customizable protagonist. This was the biggest ball drop of the entire game. We literally just had Wo Long, how did the devs not realize that people want to play as *their* MC, not some generic Xu Shu/Akira Kurusu hybrid who never talks? At least give us a choice of gender, Zhuhe was right there and could've easily been swapped out with Ziluan.
    4. Meh. I was never too bothered by weapon clones, just having the different playable characters was usually enough for me. That said, some of the choices here were insanely egregious (Dong Zhuo rocking twin axes like frigging Zhang Liao?)
    3. Ah yes, the classic 'everyone loves ya' Gary Stu MC. Funny how SW4 did it so much better - friends were friends, most everyone saw you differently, and love interests varied depending on gender and the marital status of the character in question (another reason why we should've at least had a female option). Here, *every single person* just instantly falls head over heels with Ziluan because...he looks & fights good? And not even just the women (all of whom minus Shangxiang should have significant others), the men get super friendly around him too, with some wild dialogue to boot.
    2. Blame the novel for this one. 'Cao Cao bad, Liu Bei good' was kinda just how it went in the book this series is based off of. Ironically, I'd figured Bailuan would have the least beef with Sun Quan rather than Liu Bei since the former wasn't involved with the Later Han like his old man was (unlike mister big ears who's literally a distant Han descendant).
    1. Was definitely thrown for a loop by how the same name would be said in all kinds of different pronunciations. I just figured they were trying to be more accurate (like how they did with Cao/Tsao, Sima/Sumah, Quan/Chuan, etc), but you're right, it's almost like different voice actors were given different directions. Definitely weird.

      I actually think that there is a legit reason for #3. Outside looking in, the bond moments look and sound weird (Especiallh those like Guan Yu and Yueying). But if Im not mistaken it has something to do with seeing the heavens in his eyes according to the early phases of the 1st chapter. Its spoken about before bonds so its easy to overlook, and im pretty sure a couple people in bonds do reference. But its like looking at a reflection of the best parts of one self if my understanding is correct.
      Anyways, bonds could have been handled better sure, but i dont think we can say its never explained as to why everyone is drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

    • @AzureArdent
      @AzureArdent 6 днів тому +1

      @@thereaversden6847 Some of the cast does reference his eyes, true. In that case, making him a *fully* silent protagonist (like in Nioh 2) would've worked better imo. A character who literally doesn't speak, text or otherwise, would've made the rest of the cast have to infer his thoughts and feelings purely through body language and expressions. It'd make him more enigmatic and give them more reason to look to his 'reflective' eyes while conversing. But as it stands, darn near everyone acts like he's unconsciously casting a freaking charm spell every time they see him, which is just plain ridiculous to watch at times.

    Gonna be honest, there should be a slot just for ALL the dialogue. I absolutely hated the cutscenes. They felt padded, stiff, and slow, with stilted line deliveries and literally nothing interesting happening. Most of them are just people staring at each other, talking for protracted lengths of time about things the player really has no reason to care about.
    The gameplay is a big step up from previous games, in my opinion, but the story was such a nosedive in quality that I legitimately just stopped watching the cutscens and would skip each one. Compare the scenes in this game to the scenes between missions in Dynasty Warriors 8 and there's just no comparison.

    Bio's entire thing with is that he wants the death of the Han. You really only win him over with their true ending in my opinion. He even starts debating if Liu Bei is the true enemy because hes doing so well. His support more or less is based in the fact he actually wants to sow chaos.
    On Diochan, the game pretty explicitly states she only persues Lu Bu to turn him against Dong Zhou, she is an assasin afterall. And more than any other character she is the most explicit romantic character with your MC.

    Personally, on top of all that you mentioned, I believe the greatest gripe i have with the game is that it doesn't actually stop at the formation of the 3 kingdoms. There is still Liu Bei's campaign for Chengdu that occurs. If there were to be a reasonable end to the story, I would say the Battle of Fan Castle would be a better stopping point. Guan Yu's death was the pivotal turning point where the three kingdoms were both formed and the old guard that made them start to die out (either through age or falling during a battle)

    10) You can replay battles specifically, but if you want to progress the story differently it makes sense.
    9) I can agree with shallow river slowness
    8) With as much as they've expanded the story I am surprised to see a complaint so granular.
    7) Not everything is going to be a fan service for the returning player, I'm sure the devs understand that we're familiar. This is more for new players.
    6) All fate changing cutscenes are like this, again secrets for new players, not returning players.
    6a) How wide of a story line do you want? There are sacrifices to be made, we've got a deep story, not a wide story.
    5) I'd prefer Ziluan to be used more, but how did you suppose the voice actors guess at every thing you could've named your character. They certainly could have added some voice acting to the protagonist though.
    4) Another fan service complaint. The story has always been an interpretation and the weapons on the prior games was always meant to expand the width of the games. There are limited weapons, which allows for better focus on the mechanics of each weapon (other than 6 attacks + charge) and key characters have weapons that make sense.
    3) This point, I 100% agree on. "I'll remember goin on a walk with you forever". Why? Lol! No boundaries either, male/female, they were all coming on to you.
    2) There is a meta-narrative that exists, and as much as your character is the protagonist in that narrative, Biluan is the antagonist in the meta-narrative. That simple.
    1) This is an oddball complaint. Do you have the official pronunciations? I'm certain the script writers have enough research to dictate how things should be said. And it's consistent enough to not notice unless you're looking at it under a microscope. Top complaint, really?

    • @TheNightowlGaming
      @TheNightowlGaming  3 дні тому

      well arent we a bucket full of sunshine
      10) small complaint, but like I said its nbd just needed something added
      8) why did people like Gan Ning-Ling TOng duo, it was cuase of their origin, they dont have that here, also that was just one example among others
      7) for sure, but its like watching a movie, just cause we havent seen the movie doesnt mean we cant call out bad writing..
      6) the main issue is continuity, they coudl've had a different death scene, or have him say nothing and splat, 6a) what makes a story great is depth tho
      5) VAs couldve had the lines spoken and recorded then coded to speak when prompted, easy or have AI do it after sampling their voice. very easy
      4) cloned weapons are a big stink, no matter what, we started with consoles that had less than a GB of storage and a hairs width of memory but had over 20 different weapons, not that I dont understand but it still suck to see
      2) i get that, a neutral stance is still a better choice for the overall perspective of disliking Shu cause they're liked in game. I get it its from the novel perspective but its hard to keep defending Shu when the new guy is pro shu anti everyone else.. also Shu is the main one to push the Han restoration. and bailuan hates the Han.. ?
      1) I dont have the official pronunciations, but it doesnt take that to knwo these are crazy bad. The inconsistency of the characters pronunciation is terrible.. at least back in the day they were wrong but consistent. the pronunciation for the Dub will never be perfect but it can be better than this
      Also, the vid doesnt reflect my feelings on DW. my WHOLE channel is ONLY DW, you think someone who truly dislikes it would consistently makes vids on it for years? No, im just a guy who looks at and analyzes it all. DW is everything to me & a video on some things about the new games flaws isnt an accurate reflection on how I feel about the franchise. Yeah, I’m just not feeling this game. It’s a big departure from DW.
    The appeal of the mainline games is playing through the stories of the kingdoms using the great heroes of the age, while the appeal of spinoffs like empires is making my own character and forging my own path. This game has neither. You’re stuck playing some rando… they let you name him, but much like the dialogue options, it’s the illusion of choice. They just give him a different name anyway.
    The dialogue options are basically 2-3 versions of the same response… there is rarely if ever any real meaningful reason to pick one dialogue option over another…
    The art direction trying to be dark and gritty like dark souls, while simultaneously turning all the characters into twink femboys is also jarring. They even tried to make Dong Zhuo handsome… like wth.
    Idk, really hate to be a nay sayer since I bought the special edition, but I really do not enjoy this game and don’t see how other DW fans are gushing over it. Oh well.

    Maybe it's just me and a couple of my friends but a good chunk of these issues I can understand why they are a problem but then there are a few that I'm thinking I don't know. Tiger dad's death, while it may sound a bit underwhelming, I did hear from a friend that it did happen in the book so it is not that farfetched, although the whole him being alive afterwards is very odd. Then there's the whole cloned weapons situation where aside from 1 person complaining that their favorite character did not have the claws again, I didn't really see that as a problem especially since we're stuck playing as our character throughout 99% of the game. That I would agree with you being a problem if and only if we played as the characters in other modes which there isn't and we only play as them in the story for a very short amount of time, since they are supposed to be more powerful than we are and speaking of the avatar, as someone who's played through 3 houses, I'm more then accustomed to characters not really calling our character by a name but I could argue that they could have at least given us like a title or something that all the voice actors could say especially since there is no customizable stuff for your character which is the bigger problem. The whole female characters crushing or flirting with you is also not a problem, at least as far as I know because if the Empires games could do that despite these women canonically having love interests then why not at least ONE game in the series and I would say that this is still better then how most of the girls are treated in 6, 7, 8 and 9 where they almost exclusively just focused on their husbands and that is it with nothing to advance them in character development and lastly while I can see that the name mispronouncing is a problem, I still say that it is never as bad as Cao Cao being called Cow Cow from several years ago or that in 9, the VA quality SOMEHOW got worse after 8 despite having a new VA director and English cast. Again I do see your complaints although I do still think that Origins will just be a test bed for mechanics going foward for 10 and I highly doubt we will even see the Nameless wanderer again unless KT pulls a Fire Emblem and brings him back for a crossover game lol. Great job on the video!

    Not going to lie bro, i notice that most of the thing you peeved about are story writing and story elements more than mechanics, although i admit the weapon swapping feels so bad, like DW8 had the best weapon type distribution and should have stuck, like if it doesnt make sense for Dong Zhuo to throw bombs, give him his own sword moveset with the sword of Xiang Yu.
    And yeah i so agree with the weird romance thing.
    Let me tell you about that
    That would have worked or made sense or actually goes through if this is an Empires title and not a linear story title
    The whole OC into the main timeline as a set story pattern feels so off
    While we have the Empires counterpart that was LITERALLY MADE to accomondate OCs in the DW franchise.
    So yeah even though Origins did so well with the new combat system, everything else, like story, feels so off with an OC character taking the reign and we are not even allowed to customize him or even an alternative female version.
    I agree with every peeve you have and i think that they need to make an Empires version that would make Ziluan making sense and fully customizable rather this... linear story pathing practice.

    In fact, the case with Diaochan is something new in her character. The fact that she is "Lu Bu's Woman" varies from part to part. They were a full-fledged couple only in DW 6. In DW 9, she generally makes it clear that there are no special feelings between them. As in DW 8, in my opinion. In both games, her place was taken by Lu Lingqi (I still can't come to terms with the fact that she is not in Origins). Therefore, a romantic relationship with Diaochan, in my opinion, is a rather interesting experiment.
    As well as with Shanxiang. Because her inexplicable love for Liu Bei has already become boring for so many games.

      In fact, in my opinion, this is one of the serious problems of the game that should be mentioned more often. Focusing on new players, they made the story and narrative more compressed and short. Returning to the events in Chang'an, they essentially do not exist ... The coalition is essentially still only five people. Ma Teng, Gongsun Jian, and the rest are still faceless NPCs. It's like they saw the fail of DW9 and instead of fixing the glaring problem that fans highlights like clone weapon, VA, and more, they instead focus on how to "modernized" the musou as a genre rather than "Dinasty Warrior" as a series
    Putting a wanderer MC on a story that already had a bunch of renowned heroes with their own fans were such a fatal step. This isn't fantasy JRPG like Final Fantasy were the "destined one" suddenly change the course of history with their "rogue" action. Leave that for spin-off or other series. DW fans wanted to mow the battlefield with their favourites RoTK heroes, not some "pssh nothing personnel kid" OC. Once again it might work but not as main DW series.

    My main pet peeve was KT leaving out characters such as Cao Pi, Cao Ren, Lianshi and Guan Ping. I get not having every character but those four have some importance of the story Pre-Chibi and it bothers me that they are not involved

      @TheNightowlGaming Hell you could possibly make a case for the Qiaos and Zhu Ran too given he's Sun Quan's childhood friend and classmate

    If I can give one credit to the limited weapons: none of them are bad. Even the worst of them is still High C tier in another game. I never rocked up to a battle that would favor a certain weapon and groaned, unlike some levels in 8 and 7 (looking at you Shu)

    Gonna be real, The voice acting in general is a snorefest it's always so slow and, in a way, monotone or just boring in general. I started skipping the scenes with the bonds. I was LITTERALLY falling asleep at my desk playing anything but the battles and I actively find myself not wanting to play the game when I do have free time which fucking blows because I love the gameplay bu there is way more story cutscenes than actual large scale battles.

    The "flirting" aspect of the story really threw me off. It's so unnecessary, while at the same time really funny especially when you know how the female characters are going to end up with.

    Still going through Origins myself, but as far as the cloned weapons go I'm not too surprised. DW10 was cancelled I think because they didn't want to throw it out at the end of a console lifespan or something - dunno if that's true, just a random comment I saw and am going with - but because it WAS cancelled, they made Origins with the leftovers and therefore some 'ehhhh' things like the Cloned Weapons made its way in to cut down on development time and animations cost (or at least again, I assume.)
    Think my personal #1 gripe with Origins though is the whole Battle Arts and Bravery system. Not a fan of it at all. I understand what KT was going for in the new "officer duel" focus style of gameplay, but Battle Arts and Bravery is just a waste of time, and a much smaller meter you have to build as you kill soldiers whilst dueling officers. Use move, counter for move goes +1, keep using move until maxed, than unequip it and never put it back on again until everything else is maxed. Having a TON of filler Arts too that are unlockable through the skill tree such as the Arrow ones just adds to the frustration and pointlessness of the system.
    Mispronunciation has been REALLY bad, but overall the English VAs have that 90s-2000s anime dub quality that just scream they pulled in a few guys to read lines 2-3 times to time the cadence to an auto-advancing line, and that collect that paycheck. Little to no emotion at all in cutscenes; at least in battle some characters are a bit expressive.
    Here's to hoping that if/when DW10 is made, that the Battle Arts and Bravery are scrapped, competent English VA work is hired/contracted, and no single player self-insert character; we need our vast roster of playable officers and unique weapons for them. :)

      i do hope the unique playable officers return, I didnt mind the BA's and bravery system it was something new and refreshing to the old system, VA needs work yeah

      @@TheNightowlGaming I'll semi-revise my main complaint, now that I've had a bit more time to think about it. I now think that Battle Arts and Bravery are fine - but the "Mastery" of them can please not come back if its iterated upon.

    My biggest gripe is simply the characters from the time period that were missing, even if they werent substancial persay.
    Cao Ren and the Eight Gates Formation. Cao Pi's first major battle at Chi Bi... how you gonna have Zhen Ji but not her husband??? Ma Tengs involvement in the Coalition against Dong Zhou. The Qiao Sisters? What realm did they vanish to. They have always been at Chi Bi Stuff like that. Those are just a few examples.
    But still, missing out on those moments does take away from the flow just a bit. I get that some cuts had to be made, but if they have any intention of going forward with the series using this as a soft reboot/premise, lacking them is a bit disheartening. Especially since we all know they will make an appearence suddenly in a future project.
