Cherami Leigh has made V my favourite protagonist in any video game. She brings so much ferocity yet quiet vulnerability as V, and any interactions she has with the likes of Carla Tassara as Judy and Keanu Reeves as Johnny are just superb. Absolutely phenomenal performance by her.
Same here. Probably one of my favorite bits of her as V is right after the heist when Vik lays it out to her that she’s dying and no stopping it; Leigh puts in so much emotion into her various lines you can pinpoint the stages of grief she’s emoting, be it denial or bargaining. Another being her first conversation with Johnny in her apartment, a mix of anger and frustration as she’s dealing with a psycho terrorist trapped in her head.
I actually don't like female Vs voice, sounds like she smokes 2 packs a day while trying to squeeze out a turd. Kind of a grunty smoker's voice. To be fair I don't like male V's voice either though lol.
Yeah, she’s able to do it quite well. I played Fire Emblem 3 Houses/Hopes and her role as Rhea she was able to slip between soft, kind compassionate to harsh, cruel and borderline evil in an instant. She does sit up there with Jennifer and Laura and many others.
She did female V sooo well in the base game. So much emotion in her delivery. She really had me tearing up even more during Phantom Liberty. I had no idea she also did Makoto from Persona 5. Another favorite character!
Cherami is an absolute pro. Her performance in CP2077 was so good, it brought out all sorts of emotions in me, and made me connect to V. Especially weak/afraid/vurneable V voiced by Cherami is super impactful and believable. There's a scene where V said "I promise, I promise" to Johnny and man, that truly ripped my heart out.
it's just brilliant to me how Gavin and Cherami with the very same lines and the same gameplay have captured two different experiences of the same "life" so flawlessly. they dont sound like the same person and they deliver a very unique performance on their own. I'm surprised how different Cherami's normal voice and character is compared to V and yet she does it impeccably! her hard work and talent always shines through and amazes me every time! V has made me cry more times than i like to admit and Phantom Liberty was just next level. I cant remember the last time I was THAT touched by a video game character.
Cyberpunk 2077 has truly ripped me apart emotionally, stabbed me while on the floor crying and tossed me into a nearby river by the time the credis were rolling for the first time and the calls came in was the moment I was out of commission for a solid 5 to 10 minutes haha. Just like the Edgerunners anime. Man, I really love this genre in it's dark dystopian way. And if I'm honest, Cheramis rendition of V is by far my favorite, it just scratches that itch perfectly for me.
Funny I was reflecting on how different her tone, intonations and all that her real voice is from Vs, then as she puts emphasis "Anxious person" at 4:51 I was like: there's V
Yeah, Cherami is such a legend in the voice actor worlds - and she's only 35(soon to be 36) years old! She has a long journey forward as both a woman, a wife/mother and a voice actor! Also, if you want to check out more of her role, I recommend watching Sailor Moon(VIZ dub), where she voiced Aino Minako/Sailor Venus and Fairy Tale, where she voiced Lucy!
She adds soo much depth to the character with just her voice, it is incredible. I know it makes little sense that Project Orion will feature V as a protagonist, but she is the main reason I would want it so bad to be able to continue the journey with V.
@@SchillerDD Honestly, with all the crap V goes through? It's not a bad writing decision; you don't risk canonizing any of the endings (All of them have a path towards V being Soulkilled inside Mikoshi, barring PL's ending), and the ending you chose could be as simple as a throwaway line. - "I took a deal with Arasaka. Didn't pan out." - "I gave my body to Johnny, wandered Cyberspace for awhile before I ended up in your head. Funny how history repeats itself." - "Blue Eyes heist went the way of Konpeki and the Black Sapphire, ended up at the beck and call of someone more powerful than I could've imagined." - "Went out with the nomads, explored for awhile. Was the best time of life. I wonder how they're getting along without me..."
This is perfect timing. Just started playing Cyberpunk for the first time and am doing a female V playthrough. Extremely impressed with her voice acting and loving the game.
I'm playing as Male V now and I agree with her, both performances are so unique yet great in their own rights. I played Female V as a Streetkid and I felt that was perfect. I'm playing Male V as a Corpo and that is also such a great fit. I played Female V as a hard line righteous person with a very strong sense of personal ethics and justice. Male V as a "get the job done" even ignoring requests and just doing things as recklessly as possible leading up to the big heist of Act 1. Not sure how I'll RP the aftermath of Act 1 with Male V's performance.
what are you hearing? it's sounds forced forced fake "I'm trying to hard to act" middle-school theater group level acting geeez people, come back to reality!
Fem V is one of my favorite playable characters in a game, and hugely thanks to her performance. I haven't felt so sad or sorry for a character ever playing a game. And this is coming from a massive fan of the Red Dead series who's been gaming since it was 4. I love that she went so far out of her usual style and shell with this role. Gave V a unique and one of a kind voice. Genuinely so impressed how she can put on that deep scratchy voice and purchase so much emotion or sing or laugh. I also love that she's always wanted to try out a deep voice and wasn't certain how it would be perceived but now she's getting so many offers to do it or so many people asking her to do it. She took a risk and it paid off.
I loved female V so much, Cherami Leigh really conveys the character's emotions perfectly. I can't play a male character because of her. Love specially when she's clowning with other characters.
I agree I wanted to experience the voice acting for male V on second play through, but I deleted it and just did female V again lol. Nothing against the male V actor. She just absolutely killed it.

When it comes to a game's replayability, it usually boils down to gameplay and story. But with Cyberpunk 2077, the voice acting is one of the reasons why I keep on playing the game even after sinking 2,000+ hours in it. I love female V's voice so much that when I play another game for prolonged periods of time, I keep missing hearing my V talk and miss playing the game, so I fire it up. So I'm really thankful to Cherami for such a wonderful performance and I really love what she said near the end there that the experiences that she heard from the fans is how she knows that what she did really mattered. It truly did. I gotta say though that Gavin also did an amazing job as male V. I hope you get to interview him again because your first interview with him doesn't have good audio.
I agree. Games with amazing VO and dialogue are far more replayable. In the first dragon age, Morrigan and Alistar's banter absolutely made the game more entertaining the second and third time.
I think my favorite scene with Cherami was when Jackie has just passed and is on the backseat of the Delamain cab, right after they arrive at the No-Tell Motel, and Valerie touches Jackie's shoulders and says, with Cherami's voice cracking, "See you on the major leagues, Jackie." That was so fucking powerful, I literally see it in my minds eyes the tears streaming down V's face as she said goodbye to Jackie.
I decided to give Cyberpunk a shot because Cherami was the voice for Female V. Phenomenal talent and one of my favorite VA’s of all time. Her range is ridiculous: V all the way to Asuna. So so good.
I just started another playthrough and to me, even though both V’s are canon, I’ll always have a bigger affinity toward fem!V. That said, I love knowing that the different delivery of the lines between male!V and fem!V was intentional. Even though I never played as him, I hope we’ll get another interview with Gavin
Phantom Liberty made me cry bitter tears of grief. Not since the death of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption II have I been actually moved by a video game. They really are maturing as an art form.
She gave V such an iconic presence and made her one of my favorite characters in any media. What an amazing person and actor. I'll be crossing my fingers for her return in Orion.
If anybody at CDPR is reading this - Pawel Sasko, I know you are there. Please include V again in the sequel, I know it's possible. I'd love it if V is the main character again, but even if it won't be like that, please find a way to include V as a character. If V can be a mentor to the new protagonist that will be friggin' awesome.
To add onto what Cherami was saying as well about the world of Cyberpunk being so dark but fans are kind, the game for me is my comfort game, which sounds so incredibly weird because the story and world is so dark but it came out at a time where i needed something to look forward to, easily the worst year of my life so far, i needed that thing to aim for, to look forward to and ive played it a few times now and adore how i get lost in it everytime.
I love Cherami so much, she's such a cool person. The first time I was captivated by her was as Makoto Niijima in Persona 5 - already loved here there (heard her more in other games since), and then hearing her as V is just amaizing, she did such a great job. But I also love Gavin's work as male V - you can really hear what Cherami is talking about how both of them were given room to act as they want instead of having to copy each other. Makes replaying both V's a bit different and great fun.
Your V was a such a great character. I played male V first, and enjoyed it, but there was something really special about your performance that I connected with more. Congratulations on being a mom ❤
For me female V will always be canon. As much as the male V performance is great, Cherami's portrayal of V is just out of this world. How much emotion she managed to put into even the smallest lines blows me away everytime i play the game, that alone made fem V become my favorite character in the game (alongside Johnny and Judy, all beautiful and heartfelt performances). Thanks for the interview, dude! And big congrats to Cherami for all her amazing work!! ❤
Cherami, if you ever read this message, I wanted to let you know that I think you're probably the BEST voice actress I've ever seen in any video game ever. I always come back to Cyberpunk (about to start the 7th walkthrough) and I ALWAYS play as Fem V, because I'm just amazed by your talent. I always use your work as reference when comparing voice acting in other games. No one has topped you so far. Absolutely amazing work, so glad CDPR picked you for the role. Keep up the good work. Oh, btw, I didn't know about your baby, preem news! Congratulations! I'm sure you won't raise her a gonk! ;)
I know that V has fantastic voice acting when the character's voice sounds like my emotions vocalizing. I deeply enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty. It's a rare game that I've replayed several times, and it has a lot to do with the characters and the acting that brings the characters to life.
Every so often I play a game, then I have to pause to look up VA cast. I distinctly remember looking up female V, A2 from Nier Automata and Gaige from Borderlands 2, all voiced by Cherami Leigh. Such a good voice.
Only playing BG3/CP77 for quite a while now, taking a few hours per week to progress in these games is such a delight, and it's mostly because of these talented voice actors. It was great that you had her for another interview, but sad that it was only 35 minutes... Also, please let her be V as the main character in CP2 again... pretty please.. :p
Oh wow, Minji yesterday and now Cherami, that's amazing. Yesterday when you said that you'll be talking to Cherami during the Minji interview, I didn't expect that it would be so soon lol.
It's sad that Female V probably won't be in the sequel, considering how drastic the endings can get. Would love to have Cherami Leigh reprise the role someday.
Cheramie Leigh is without a doubt, my favorite protagonist in any video game I've played in 25 years. The goddamn TEARS this woman pulled out of me over the course of a 200 hour playthru... (I have collector-brain, that weapon wall needed filling) I have never felt so strongly tied to a character that doesn't exist, because Mrs. Leigh brought Valerie to life. (I have no idea if that's her married name or if she abides by that for whatever reason, career or otherwise) When V is betrayed, I am f*cking pissed. When V loses people, I'm sad at the loss. When she loves, my heart swells. And when she dies, I'm left with the impact of an amazing story. (Sun ending with Judy best ending don't f*cking fight me) In between Baldur's Gate and this game, I have so many endless replays awaiting.
Her performance in both maingame and expansion was absolutely phenomenal, and while it makes sense to finish V's story off i kiiinda want her to come back for the sequel anyway :D.
I heard her first in fire emblem and persona 5. Now, I have played cyberpunk. She's so talented and has a lot of range because all the characters just have tiny bit of her but they sound different at the same time. Makoto sounds as a teenage girl, V as a more older raspy character, and Rhea with a soothing yet can turn scary/angry voice. Kudos to her! Hope to listen to more of her work. All of her characters also don't sound like her real self haha so that's talent!!
Songbird has to be one of the best characters I've ever met in a game or any type of media. Y'all be talking about her and im tearing up and sobbing man
I played CP2077 from day one and one of the things that I loved most about it despite technical difficulties was the performances. All actors did phenomenal job. I don't thing there is a single bad or even average performance in entire game. And Cherami is one of the best. The way she conveys emotions is just pure magic. Can't imagine anyone else as female V. I thing this performance is and will be remembered on par with legends like FemShep, because for me it's definitely is up there with the best of them.
Still can't believe that this is the same girl who played Lucy in Fairy Tail and Natsumi from Sgt. Frog. Twice in 2023 did I receive autographs from her. The first time was through OG Collectibles’ send-in service, in which I mailed her my drawing of Natsumi to have her sign. The second time was through Streamily, in which I ordered a Lucy Heartfilia print that she eventually signed in her livestream on December. Hopefully this year, I’ll get a chance to meet her in person if she ever comes to StocktonCon. She seems like a pretty sweet person.
Cherami has been one of my favorite VA's for years now as her role as V,makoto from persona 5, Asuna in sword art online,Lucy in fairytale her voice is just iconic to me she's my #1 favorite VA for sure
Just finished the game with PL added..I think Cyberpunk has the best voice acting in any game the characters feel so real & this is also why movie actors like Keanu & Idris fit right in,because of how cinematic the game feels..and fem V is canon for sure.
It's great you got Cherami back for another interview. I played another playthrough as a Corpo to experience the 2.1 patch. I made Female V to look like Emma Roberts. I've been role-playing as Emma Roberts throughout the campaign. Funny Story Emma Roberts played a character named Vee from a sci-fi film called Nerve. I hope to get to meet Cherami at a con someday.
Don’t know if Cherami will see this but I played as male V with a Nomad backstory. Romanced Panam and ran off into the sunset with the Aldecaldos! That for me is the definitive ending. So much hope for the future! So many little clues point to him surviving!
Despite it not being my native language, I prefer English voices, especially V / Panam / Judy / So Mi / Jackie. The dubbing, for example in Spanish, is not up to par. Actors like Cherami, Emily, Minji or Jason have a formidable job. I understand that for reasons of costs and egos they do not appear as main actors in the credits but they deserve it as much as Keanu...
Not only in Spanish. Polish dubbing is meh at best lol. I think CDPR didn't really care about other languages because they knew that like 80% of players will play in english just to hear Keanu
I loved her acting as V, and I am completely shocked to find out she also voices the American version of Chloe in Pokemon Journeys and Master Journeys. Such an amazing actor and such a versatile voice. I hope I get to hear more of her performances in the future.
“V, just V, only people who know me real well can use my real name” when she said that line in that tone it just hit different cause not even Jackie Vs closest choom didn’t call V Valerie
That was actually a profound moment for me. None of the love interests, not Vic, none of V's friends, not even Johnny (at the time) ever called V by her real name. It showed how V always keeps a wall up. She never feels safe enough to be completely open and vulnerable with anyone. I think that line (and the entire Clouds doll scene) highlights a main theme of the cyberpunk genre: the destruction of interpersonal intimacy. V's deepest desire is for someone to hold her hand and say everything is going to be ok. It's heartbreaking.
Dude I didn't know she also voiced Makoto in person 5, she actually was my fav and my "romance" choice, cherami did such a good job with both V and makoto
I have hundreds of hours in Cyberpunk, all as Fem V. Cherami's performance is so exceptional. In terms of Reed vs. So Mi, the horror sequence towards the end was AMAZING.
What i really enjoyed about femVs lines is that even in jokes her voice is lined with a dark undercurrent, because in the moment she may be having fun, but the situation she's in the whole game is a one without a good resolution and it really ties the character together
My FAVORITE lines are when she sees the guy in phantom liberty with the jacked up face and yells "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST" And then when Johnny makes her promise, that whole scene killed me

I'm sure you won't raise her a gonk! ;)
I love her as Makoto
She made V an absolute legendary character. Definitely earned a spot next to Jennifer Hale as one of the best voice actresses of all time.
This actor did an Epic job with Female V. loved her. Related to her so much. Same as Female Shepard in Mass effect. Two of the best ever.
Every so often I play a game, then I have to pause to look up VA cast. I distinctly remember looking up female V, A2 from Nier Automata and Gaige from Borderlands 2, all voiced by Cherami Leigh. Such a good voice.
She is so pretty 😍😍
It's that new mum glow she had a babino recently
Only playing BG3/CP77 for quite a while now, taking a few hours per week to progress in these games is such a delight, and it's mostly because of these talented voice actors. It was great that you had her for another interview, but sad that it was only 35 minutes... Also, please let her be V as the main character in CP2 again... pretty please.. :p
Oh wow, Minji yesterday and now Cherami, that's amazing. Yesterday when you said that you'll be talking to Cherami during the Minji interview, I didn't expect that it would be so soon lol.
Great interview Dan and Cherami. Thanks so much for showing us this and giving us this glimpse into your thoughts.
Female V was so good I never played as Male V, just because of the voice, how can I miss that
Male V is really good too.
They both did awesome
Wow. She doesn't sound anything like V in game. That is some serious skill right there.
It's sad that Female V probably won't be in the sequel, considering how drastic the endings can get. Would love to have Cherami Leigh reprise the role someday.
Female V is the best V. I love her voice so much, very unique and emotional. She is a extremely talented voice actress.
(Sun ending with Judy best ending don't f*cking fight me)
In between Baldur's Gate and this game, I have so many endless replays awaiting.
Loved her voice in Cyberpunk. I could listen to her for hours and hours
I really hope CDPR casts her and the other voice actors in the sequel
it's highly unlikely that V will return in Cyberpunk 2
@@TheAlmightyPrimemaybe she can have a cameo as Mrs. Hands
Would like her to voice a character in one of the next Witcher games even! 😊@@TheAlmightyPrime
I hadn't realized, she has done soooo many different voices on so many games...👏
Chooms we've gathered again! Also I found a cyberpunk 2077 audiobook that Cherami voiced on Audible, go grab it!
Thx for the heads up! Ima scoop it up with my last credit🙌🏿🙌🏿
I wish Dan asked her about her experience narrating the audiobook
@@beige_projection he might not have known it.
V HAD A BABY 😭🌸✨
Y'all be talking about her and im tearing up and sobbing man
Cherami Leigh's performance of female V has to be my favorite voice acting performance of all time.
That’s some serious acting talent!
Cherami has been one of my favorite VA's for years now as her role as V,makoto from persona 5, Asuna in sword art online,Lucy in fairytale her voice is just iconic to me she's my #1 favorite VA for sure
i luv her voice
Just finished the game with PL added..I think Cyberpunk has the best voice acting in any game the characters feel so real & this is also why movie actors like Keanu & Idris fit right in,because of how cinematic the game feels..and fem V is canon for sure.
Agreed. Voice acting in this game is legendary
I hope cdpr brings her back in some capacity in the sequel she honestly brought one of my favorite characters to life
Bro her charisma is actually unreal.
I'm playing with Female V on my 1st playthrough as a street kid and I love her work she nailed the voice
So cool! Hope you can land another interview with Gavin too. Yours basically seems like the only place he's ever been asked about 2077 🙏🙌
She did an AMAZING job!
I just listened to No Coincidence audiobook that's read by her and, OMG. Phenomenal
Such a great actress, and one of those special souls whose eyes light up when they smile, just a joy to be around.
Outstanding interview! I’m so obsessed with this game and I so enjoy her performance over male V’s.
She overexceded expectations for Phantom Liberty. Literally gave me GOOSBUMPS
It’s gotta feel good to part of one of the greatest games ever made. Everyone did a great job.
I think CDPR didn't really care about other languages because they knew that like 80% of players will play in english just to hear Keanu
wow i had no idea Female V was also Asuna, thats blown my mind, her range is incredible
OMG! Only just found out she also does Gaige, which is my favorite Borderland character together with Tiny Tina
She’s the sweetest. Thank you for giving us V cherami and being you! We love you!
I loved her acting as V, and I am completely shocked to find out she also voices the American version of Chloe in Pokemon Journeys and Master Journeys. Such an amazing actor and such a versatile voice. I hope I get to hear more of her performances in the future.
She’s a legend already! Her V was absolute perfection. Love her!
So awesome that you got Cherami Leigh back. Ever since I play Cyberpunk as female V, I became a fan of her. Love her voice!
I have replaced the male voice a thousand times because is so bad. But her voice? I love it. The perfect balance of emotion and being a badass
She did an incredible job! Hope she see continued success in the V.A. space.
Cherami is the GOAT
She's talking about being a mom and I just imagine V having a happy life outside NC.
She is amazing as V. One of the best voice performances of this type.
I loved her voice, and seeing her is so sunny and bright is a little incongruent from the smoky, sassy V that I imagined her to be.
I love cherami so much ;-; by far my favorite voice acting perfomance in any game, AND SHE VOICED MAKOTO FROM PERSONA 5, my 2 favorite games
Cherami's voice and speech patterns just steal my heart haha
Shes been doing voice-overs in Anime for a long time. This lady is an absolute legend.
I played both male and female V. I honestly feel like Cherami managed to embed her voice into the world of Cyberpunk the best imo
“V, just V, only people who know me real well can use my real name” when she said that line in that tone it just hit different cause not even Jackie Vs closest choom didn’t call V Valerie
Well maybe Jackie does know her names Valerie but just uses V because he likes that better
GirlV is awesome! loved 3 playthroughs with her.
BoyV cant decide if he is from 1930s Bronx or 1990 Southern Cali so tried to be both...what a chode.
My favorite V❤
Nobody swears like her, it feels so liberating.
Her voice acting was tremendous.!!! The emotion you feel in certain dialogues.
My FAVORITE lines are when she sees the guy in phantom liberty with the jacked up face and yells "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST"
And then when Johnny makes her promise, that whole scene killed me
Most underappreciated performance in recent history, Cherami Leigh absolutely knocked it out of the park in PL.
