I have the 2007 Outlander. I bought it brand new. It still drives like a dream. It has 275,000 miles on it. I've only had in the shop one time in all 14 years and that was by choice. We ordered a timing belt online and took it to the dealership to have them put it on. We knew it would be getting to be about time to replace it, so this was to prevent getting stranded somewhere. Other than that it's still the best car I've ever owned. I've been looking at this 2021 Outlander for a few weeks now. When I'm ready. I know it will the Outlander I'll buy. Again, the best and most trouble-free car I've ever owned.
Just be aware that Mitsubishi is partnering with Nissan right now and they might be starting to use Nissan's failed transmissions and other components. Mitsubishi 10 years back is different from today.
@@a.a.a.r5238 Actually even the old Mitsubishi's are using JATCO transmissions and still they are flawless even Suzuki uses JATCO transmissions and there also flawless Nissan is the only company that has a troublesome JATCO transmission but they fixed it the old ones has those issues but the newer ones are good
Unbiased review, good job! But I route for Outlander. Have had Lancer, Pajero, RVR and Outlander which were all very good and reliable cars. In my honest opinion, Mitsubishi is underrated.
Growing up in the US we had the first import, the Tredia in the 80's, then small truck, then a Dodge Colt/Mitsu, so I thought Mitsu was common, like Honda, so I bought an Outlander in 2017 because of price and warranty and size, then after, I read so much negativity. Four years later, it runs like new and could not have been better choice. There is such a gap between perception and owner's satisfaction. Ill buy another when time comes. (note, I traveled a little bit, and everywhere I went in Asia or Latin Am, there were pajero's so I think this also made me think they had way more market share in US than was the case. )
When testing the rear seats you should have them adjusted at the same angle. You had the Outlanders straight up in an awkward position and the Rav 4 reclined way back.
The steering wheel looks and feels much better than the Rav 4 and the looks inside and out are night and day the Rav looks more rugged but bland the Mitsubishi looks luxurious.I bought the outlander and love it hands down beats the Rav. Great review. My first Mitsubishi and I’m impressed plus much better warranty than the Rav.
Man, i got one thursday. My old lady had to have the quilted leather, so it came with everything. This thing is dope. No lie, it's the first time I've ever read an owners manual. It feels like the first time i got a smartphone, or the first time i had access to the internet.
@@beyondhometown yes the front hood doesn’t make noise but it shakes at highway speeds when you first see it looks like hood is going to fly off they are giving us a replacement hood we will see how that goes. Hopefully in newer models it’s fixed.

Out lander looks better, feels better, and cheaper and you can literally add some accessories and reach the rav 4. Outlander is also got a better warranty
There is no need to crib so much about the shift nob. I drive an outlander and i absolutely love the shift nob, its so easy and equally quick as any other automatic shifter. Comparing a hybrid rav4 to a cvt outlander with their pickups is again unfair. Outlander for its size is quick and i find no issues overtaking on highways or merging into them.
Look at the angle of the second-row seats from the Rav4 and the Outlander. The shot from the camera clearly shows that in the Rav4 the back support for the seat is leaned further back than putting them square in the outlander. Hence, the "more" headroom... Put the same angle of the back seat and then sit in it you will then see they are pretty much similar instead of putting the outlander seats at 90 degrees to give it a downside...
Just test drove the outlander(aspire) in Melbourne, it drives like a dream , gear swifter knob is the best. Stock audio sounds pretty good, from stand still to movement is pretty smooth, materials feels good. Handling is surprisingly awesome for this big, electric adjustments on seats are fast and to the point. Infotainment is slow, head up display is good. Third row is for kids until 6 years above doesn’t fit. Back row seat doesn’t cover until the knee when seated, not so comfy. I own Audi 2021 q3, I think this one has better pickup at traffic lights.

In Taiwan,our RAV4 is facing the problem of water leakage.It makes many people choice other brands.But the RAV4 is still a popular SUV. (I have a poor English,please don't care about it XD)
In Canada, 2022 RAV4 LE does not come with roof rail (no holes drilled on the roof). Therefore, you will not have water leakage concern with this model.
After shopping around the SUV market, outlander felt way superior to both rav4 and rouge. Actually, in my household there are 3 cars, rouge, rav4, and outlander. The outlander is the sensation and stands up higher compared to the the other two. Great review. PS. love the shifters

Been driving an Outlander for two weeks now and I’m surprised at how nice it is. I actually like it better than our ‘22 Crosstrek. I might have to look into getting one.
Hands down the Mitsubishi is so much nicer than the RAV4. The interior and all of the safety and luxury features is so much better. Mitsubishi also has a much better warranty, like Hyundai and KIA, 5 year 60,000 mile and with Hybrid and PHEV, 10 year 100,000 mile battery warranty. I'm looking to get a Santa Fe Hybrid limited but seriously considering the 2022 Mitsubishi PHEV. Also, Mitsubishi is less expensive across the board.
I’ve been interested in the outlanders for a few years now. Ever since I went to the woods with my family and we rented out a 2016 outlander for the road trip. It felt nice. The drive was smooth and no issues at all, keep in mind it was a road trip so there were bumps on the road, barely felt em. So I’m interested in getting one.

I own the RAV-4 Hybrid and the Outlander looks nice, though I wonder about reliability. Nevertheless, the Plug-In to come for the Mitsubishi should be interesting. I found the videography could have been much better in this video though (ie. have no idea where that headrest hiding place was in the car, you go on for a good moment about the shifter, but don’t show the actual shifter or a proper visual as to why you don’t like it). Anyway, keep up the vids.
I've owned Toyota 3.5 v6 and intercooler died I get it fixed and sold. I bought the top of the line Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8 v6 almost 80k AUD . And drives like BMW X5 that can go off-road. It's the all time Dakar Rally off-road champion 18 times. Toyota only once with the Hilux that's it.
Good question. Mitsubishis are very reliable cars. They are just underrated. There is an outlander here in UA-cam that has 390,000 miles on it. Yup! If you like I can share the link with you here
Outlander is very practical for family car, and huge step over older model HUGE! RAV4 just compact SUV. One important thing is that you compare Outlander with panoramic roof, without -there is more space over your head.
Just a note(Mitsu has been around for almost a 100years so they do know there stuff) And a lot of these reviewers always fail to compliment Mitsubishi on there BRILLIANT racing heritage and there Excellent 4 x 4 and and S-AWC system! Talking about about Dakar Rally(formerly Paris to Dakar Rally) and the World Rally Circuit. The Montero/Pajero Winning the Dakar Rally 12 times with its brilliant 4 x 4 system--Not toyota, not Mercedes, not Land Rover not Nissan(Honda is no where to be found in dakar) when Montero/Pajero was King of Dakar!! and the Evo has won its fair share world rally championships as well impressive record! Oh Yes and excellent RELIABILITY!!
To be fair, isn't the RAV-4 a hybrid? (based on the gauge cluster on the rav-4 it says "charge" so I'm guessing its a hybrid). You really can't compare a hybrid with a normal gas vehicle
If you showed a test on ease of entry into the driver seat or front passenger seat, you will notice with the RAV-4 you will need to stoop lower than the Outlander so as not to hit the top door pillar. I was an unfortunate victim when I tested the RAV-4 and I am only 5'-9"
So far I understood from many car reviews, the guy needs to be at least 6 feet tall so that he can tell the 3rd row is congested. C'mon guys, there are zillions of short homo sapiense like me.
You cannot compare a hybrid vehicle with a electric motor vs a natural aspirated vehicle.. Obviously the N/A will be slower off the line with both 2.5 engines.
@@babyganga8786 I checked there is around 5K to 10K difference between normal and PEHV currently available in Australia. Yes, you are right. Once the new model is available, I can compare if it is worth buying PEHV. I just feel it is more convenient, you pay extra one time, and you have ease of charging at home (I got a solar roof, it generates more than enough) and commuting at least 60 km without costing fuel, which means fewer visits to the fuel station.
I don’t understand the issue with the shift knob. It’s as simple as it gets. If you’re in park, push the button on the side of the knob and push up to go to reverse. Push down to go to drive and push button on top to park.
The Outlander has so many great features at an attractive price, but the low power keeps me from considering it. I drive through hills a lot, and I want something that will do light off-roading. It would be perfect if the power plant produced between 230 and 250 horsepower and torque.
I have a Sport that looks like the RAV. It's got great trunk space. The interiors on the Misubishi is fabulous. RAVa with a little help from team logo merchandising can look all geared up.
Outlander looks nicer but it's way under powered. only 181HP and a big body. While Rav4 is 201HP with a smaller body. As much as I like the Outlander looks I would buy the Rav4 due to the extra HP.
Great comparison… I feel your pain with the shifter but I feel part of that may be because the eventual PHEV version will of course have a similar thing, as with the previous PHEV, since there is a single fixed ratio and no gears at all.
Although, i think you may have made a small mistake with the pricing in the US. The Outlander starts at $25,795 in the US. (It says that on the Mitsubishi website)
Outlander looks nicer but the performance and power in the Rav4 puts a smile on your face. Outlander gt in Canada ive seen between 45-56k which is very high considering you don’t get much of an engine. More style and luxury.Personal pref.
To me there's no comparison. These two cars are not in the same league. Even though the rav4 is a great car to me, the outlander is way up above. I don't understand why some you tubers compare them

Maybe explain what's wrong with the automatic gear selector instead of just saying it's bad continuously.

Outlander PHEV 2023 model is out in Australia and New Zealand as far as I am aware, 7 seater 84km electric range. Pretty impressive.

One question here why compare the two ? They are in different classes.
I don’t understand the issue with the shift knob. It’s as simple as it gets. If you’re in park, push the button on the side of the knob and push up to go to reverse. Push down to go to drive and push button on top to park.

Well, the gear shifter on 2021 outlander was archaic as everything else inside, they've totally revamped it for 2022, kudos to Mitsu!

Yep, that’s the main difference. Also a little headroom difference possibly due to the panoramic sunroof bringing the ceiling height lower.

The Outlander has so many great features at an attractive price, but the low power keeps me from considering it. I drive through hills a lot, and I want something that will do light off-roading. It would be perfect if the power plant produced between 230 and 250 horsepower and torque.
I have a Sport that looks like the RAV. It's got great trunk space. The interiors on the Misubishi is fabulous. RAVa with a little help from team logo merchandising can look all geared up.
Outlander looks nicer but it's way under powered. only 181HP and a big body. While Rav4 is 201HP with a smaller body. As much as I like the Outlander looks I would buy the Rav4 due to the extra HP.
Great comparison… I feel your pain with the shifter but I feel part of that may be because the eventual PHEV version will of course have a similar thing, as with the previous PHEV, since there is a single fixed ratio and no gears at all.
My 2020 rav4 xse has two buttons on liftgate one to lock one to close it has tech package idk if that means anything

Outlander looks nicer but the performance and power in the Rav4 puts a smile on your face. Outlander gt in Canada ive seen between 45-56k which is very high considering you don’t get much of an engine. More style and luxury.Personal pref.

To me there's no comparison. These two cars are not in the same league. Even though the rav4 is a great car to me, the outlander is way up above. I don't understand why some you tubers compare them
