Maybe it's just me, but this is one of the best clear-cut tutorials I've seen in such a long time. Steps are clear and the presenter doesn't assume you know certain things or make you watch some other tutorial before proceeding with this video.
Unreal Sensei has his own courses and UA-cam video series.. Very clear, easy to follow. Great instructor.
Thanks for the positive feedback! Like Aldon said, credit to @UnrealSensei. Loved collaborating on this video together.
We love unreal sensei
Yes, it really is.
I agree. I’m taking a game design class & my prof never explained anything to us because two of his students already knew everything.
And most of the tutorials I watched assumed we already knew the basics of the program.
I saw Unreal Sensei and knew this would be a banger! Legendary tut!
Amazing as always sensei! 🙏🏾
Well done! Thank you so much for this great tutorial. Excellent models from Kitbash! I learned a lot.
FANTASTIC video!! Top notch. Good job
UNREAL SENSEI !!!
Just seeing the man gave me so much motivation to learn this.
🙌
I agree!
kit BASH REQUIRENTS ARE HIGH AF
Thanks a lot cool video, always happy to see more about kitbash products.
hey zach ! nice to see that you spread your knowledge beyong the masterclass ! cudos man
Every time I see Unreal Sensei, I feel a sense of encouragement. He truely is a Sensei because he gives us all the wisdom to apply to ourselves. It can’t be stressed enough Sensei that your timbre in the way you speak is perfectly aligned for tutorials. I have been watching 100s of hrs of Unreal tutorials for Uni and yours are by far the most soothing and comprehensive. Often so many people are great designers but not great teachers and when doing long form tutorials, tent to get muddled or explain things weirdly. Your tutorials have by far given me the deepest understanding over a very overwhelming machine. And you bloody give it to us for free. Thank you so much Sensei!
Couldn't have said it better ourselves!
@Magnus Muir, that is most definitely a matter of personal opinion. Some of us find the way Unreal Sensei speaks grating, in that he mispronounces words ("budden", etc.) and uses far too much up-speak. When you have autism and misophonia like I do, such affectations make getting through the tutorials extremely challenging. The information is excellent; the presentation leaves much to be desired. By contrast, go listen to tutorials by deaf UE instructor William Faucher. He has some of the best vocal inflections of anyone around, which is a huge deal since deafness creates massive challenges because the person cannot hear their own voice. Yet he manages to sound better than many UA-camrs and voiceover artists.
This is So awesome! I've been looking for a tutorial like this, thank you!
in case anyone wants to know what ''pretty large'' means at 5:10, it's around 92GB in total :)
Gladly epic uploaded the desert assets on their own and they are still big but much less. around 26 GB.
Nice Clean Tut, I am doing one. Thanks!
Outstand tutorial. I am a newbe in unreal and this tutorial was very useful and handy. It gave me a lot of ideas. Thank you very much
Really simple and cool.
thanks for the help it help my every thing i need to install
Simplemente genial! muy claro todo! muchas gracias!!!!!
Bravo, sir. 🙏🏽
I just built a new computer able to do this, I am so intimidated by this, your video creates clarity and simplicity. I am hoping I can absorb the instruction and accomplish something fun. Thank YOU.
One of the best tutorial, learned so much from this, thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Nice! Probably the best 'getting started' tutorial for people since Unreal Sensei's other much longer video tutorial. This is condensed and perfect for new starters.
It is never used Unreal before and I'm already making terrain!! Granted its pre made terrain but still!
Unreal Sensei! he's my first teacher of unreal engine and I think hes the best one out there.
Always awesom contents
Great tutorial very simple and short, easy to follow every step. Kudos!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing tutorial, looks like im going to start my carrier of Unreal Engine…
so so helpful
This is impressive and the first question he asked was dead on to the point. I am so excited and pumped to do this too. =) UE5 Here I come!
Let's go! 🚀💫
nicely explained, no overly technical stuff, just plain simple, do this... do this, and you have created something exciting! Thank you! :o)
Looks really inspiring, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome tutorial and probably the best that I have seen
Glad you liked it! 😄
Awesome as always!!!
Thank you! 😄
Excellent tutorial!!! Thank you
You're very welcome! 🚀
I just fell in love!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

I could listen to this guy all day, therapy like tutorials
Right!? 🙂
Amazing share
What a surprise to see sensi here!
I'm on a right ole mission learning UE5 right now. Another total banger of a tutorial man! Thank you! Can't wait to try this (waiting for shaders to compile with my shitty computer haha)! Also just checked out all the KitBash packs. This is gonna make me very poor haha!
Unreal Sensei!
He is the best-period!
ありがと先生😍😍😍
Bro U R The First That I Watched Your Whole Video And Understand This Engine ❤❤❤
HEY AWESOME thanks for the video was wanting some sci fi assets and nice to have this free one thanks!
Glad you like them! Can't wait to see what you create! 🚀
well done
Plz do more tutorials like this kitbash have lot of amazing assets not only this one. I remember i watched kitbash video with Egypt buildings on-the moon it was amazing 😁 😁
Glad you liked it! Pyramids on the moon sounds like good inspiration for the Mission to Minerva challenge... 😄
I learned more here than many others dedicated UE tutorial!
🙌
Amazing video !1
well done! thanks!
Thank you!
Man I Truly hope you guys make more Tutorials whether for beginners or advanced, going in depth on how to Kitbash more effectively, like giving Tips and tricks for the vfx to make the scene prettier, or Design Philosophy and techniques from professionals, maybe doing it with all kind of different themes, and maybe just Tips from on how to get into the industry or get motivation, etc etc...
can't wait to see which direction this channel takes!
Thanks so much for the feedback! We certainly plan on making more tutorial content in the future, but in the meantime you might like our Game Day or Artist Insights playlists if you haven't seen them yet.

Wow! What a fantastic tutorial! One of the best I've seen. One question I have. The little rover you added towards the end. Is there a way to get it to follow the highs and lows of the terrain, rather than just rolling along at the same level? So the suspension bumps up and down as a real vehicle would?
Extra Awesome!
Glad you think so!
He is the right person for this tutorial! 5 star as always!
💫💫💫💫💫
😍😍Very nice! Thank you.
You're welcome! 😊
Your tutorials fantastic. Very well structured, explained to the simple detail and keyboard shortcut. Would you try to touch VR topic in next tutorials?
Glad you like it! And thank you for the suggestion! Feel free to add it to your Feedback Center so the community can vote on it as well! feedback.kitbash3d.com. 🙂
ummmm why did it take Kit Bash to make the best Unreal tutorial on YT? Hats off to everyone who has taken the time to teach us, I'm so grateful but damn... this one was clean af.
🥲 Credit to UnrealSensei for being such a great teacher!
Best tutorial for UE5 i've ever seen
We're thrilled you think so! 🙂
thank you! good tutorial for us newwwbs
Glad it was helpful! 🚀
YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
Fantastic tutorial 👍The only thing I'd change is using the Env. Light Mixer when it comes to create the lighting from scratch 😄
Thanks for the feedback! 🙂
Thank you
You're welcome!
Wow thanks you. It was so clearly detailed
Can't wait to see what you create! 🚀💫
@@KitBash3D it is my first Time with UE5. Its so powerful !
I'll try to make an animation. 😁
@@KitBash3D My computer crash every time I want to render ... I can't handle "cinematics" quality ... Time to optimize my scene I guess ...
(RTX 3070 8go - Ryzen 5 5600x - 16go ram, it is good enough ?)
TQ4this!
How do you get the wheels turning on the Rover? Fantastic tutorial thanks. 👍
Unreal Engine 5 is great. It's so awesome that it's free! It beats all the other software out there for rendering photorealistic scenes in real time. The material editor takes some time to learn though. I've been trying to make a shiny pantyhose / nylon material for my game characters. It took me a while to get the look right but I finally got it.
Excellent. You can literally make photo real worlds and you are concentrating on realistic pantyhose materials. Genius 😂
Best tut ever!
Right!? 😄
This is a great shot of how to make the post production of a game, but really the game is made in the preproduction. Not many videos go into that. I will change that.
@26.31 yeah just like that select the camera
This is a fantastic resource! which I'm sure I will be visiting again and again as I start my Unreal creation journey. 🙏
I almost didn’t get stuck at all following this dream of a tutorial, but if I was to nit-pick I would mention the following:
Downloading the content took a lot of time, 90GB plus for the assets, took me a few hours to download.
Once assets are migrated you will need to wait while things like construction scripts are being prepared, updated, preparing textures, mesh cards, so you need to be patient, otherwise you might not see the assets render correctly and you might think you have an issue.
Check your machine specs, my machine was pretty good a couple of years ago, bought for After effects animation, 4K editing, Illustrator and Photoshop work, which all work fine, but I'm seeing that I will need to update soon if I want to continue working with Unreal. Once all the assets loaded correctly I didn’t see any lag at all, although I did have one crash while working through the tutorial.
Another thing when you add the Movie render queue and restart Unreal the cinematic sequence disappears, you will need to go to the clapper board icon and scroll down to 'MinervaSequence' to open it again.
Also to render In Premiere Pro, go to File → Import → Files or double-click in the Project Window to open the Import Window.
Locate the PNG image sequence you wish to use, select the first image, and be sure to check the box for Sequence. That way you will import it as a sequence and you can render it straight away.
Once again a fantastic job on this! The first in depth beginner tutorial that didn’t make me want to quit half way through! Look forward to going through the next tutorial! 🔥🔥
So glad you found it useful!
Thank you for these important side notes!
This contest is Amazing...
We're thrilled you think so! Can't wait to see what you create!
@@KitBash3D Sure! I have almost finish the storyboard, then when i've done with a client (deadline next week) i'll work on your amazing contest
Interesting

Im new to this whole thing.
Been messing around with unreal and I just discovered KitBash3D. Found this video and so far this has been the best intro to unreal i've seen on youtube all the 3hr vids are good but its too much for someone who has half a brain like me. Its not complicated and I like lego and it really do be feeling like Im playing virtual lego with the KitBash Assets.
So gave it a go I tired to follow each step in the vid. Its been 3 days since watching and im still waiting for Valley of the Ancient to create the project.
Still waiting, but i've been using the free kitbash assets and i feel abit addicted now.
So glad to hear you found the video helpful!
For help with Valley of the Ancients our friends in Discord may be able to give you some advice: discord.gg/kitbash3d
Curious how you can add actual thrust coming out of the thrusters?
great video! one question, do you really have to use a 3rd party program for the video render? i thought you could do everything within ue5 technically?
Hey! Awesome assets! I only have on question. I'm an UE newbie btw. What's the level of interactivity between characters and this assets. I planned to use some of these assets as actual "places", meaning that characters would walk over them or inside them for example. But most of the assets I wanted to use seem to have a bigger bounding box that prevents characters to move as if they were inside or over them. Is there a way to make their collision boxes be the same as the meshes themselves so characters can walk in/on them? Again awesome job and thanks!
I was working on my build all weekend. If you are just starting and don't have a beast GPU don't use (Highest Quality) 8k Mega scans. You will run out of space quickly and your playback will be terrible. There are ways to change it but it's better to just go with either Medium (1080) High (2K) or Higher quality (4K) assets.
Hello! thanks for the great material - it's very helpful! I have a question about loading assets into wievport. Is there any possibility to speed it up? Or is it rather due to hardware parameters? I only have CPU consumption or can I additionally set the GPU (this one is not used during loading) to work in UE5? my parameters: Intel Core i9-9900K (8 cores, 16 threads, 3.60-5.00 GHz, 16 MB cache) / RTX 2080 Ti / RAM: 32 GB / SSD
I ran into a problem with adding keyframes for wheels spinning! For whatever reason instead of adding rotation on only one local plane it added rotation, and its strange that it did it every time, + or - 180 on the other 2 planes! The solution was to break the transform into rotation and rotation to 3 planes (pitch yaw roll) and add the rotation there instead. If you also ran into the same problem try doing it this way! Looks like a bug to me but I'm not sure.
epic
What is the advantage of migrating the assets over just copying them into the project? Just curious since opening two separate unreal projects at the same time is pretty heavy.....
Is there a solid alternative to Valley of the Ancient for macOS users? It says it's only supported on Windows
Is there a way to modify and customize kitbash textures inside unreal engine 5?
pretty soon my grandma will be able to use Unreal! It's almost too easy
Everytime I drag a mesh in it has to prepare it there a way to fix that? Great tutorial!!
Glad you liked it! Have you tried asking the community in our Discord? They may be able to give you some tips. discord.gg/kitbash3d
@@KitBash3D I have not thank you!!
if your using 5.3 and it doesn't work. make sure your usd plugin is checked on
when i try to open the project at 3:40 it says to select an app, but unreal engine isn't an option, what do I do?
Great tutorial! I am a 3DSMax User and would like to choose Unity or Unreal... no idea, which is easier for me to learn... but, could you produce a Unity tutorial like this here please?!
Thanks Peter! Stay tuned to this channel for more tutorials in the future 😄
Hello sir, what is a 3DSMax? 🤣🤣
Hi, it is beautiful asset but I can't use these assets in my game because of collision issue. 😅
How can I edit the collisions of these assets please? 😂
How can i create dooor system with this assets (new to Unreal )
Due to lack of proper hardware i am not able to make something like this inside unreal is it possible to use this in other apps
Great tutorial, much appreciated....but.... surely there's a way to link to assets without copying over all that content (including 4K textures) for EVERY unique project we wanna use them in? I know GBs are getting cheaper all the time, but still that seems ludicrous. If someone could point a noob in the right direction as to how to achieve this - thanks
Is this usual? After several hours for my PC to download Valley of the Ancients, when I pulled features from the MASS directory into my project window they took a minute or two each to properly draw/gain texture, and with 4 or 5 in my window my PC suddenly shutdown after overheating. I have a Ryzen i7 5700 with GTX 2060 GPU and 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM. It's a mid-PC spec but I didn't think it would be destroyed by a few assets.
Is there a setting so that in the viewport I can select the entire blueprint actor instead of the individual pieces of the blue print? (this is happening for the Ancient content, the environment rocks but not for the Minerva space station assets)
I'm trying to learn UE5 as I want to change from Unity. There are a couple of things from Unity that are super useful that I am wonderig whether exist in UE5.
Vertex snapping. In Unity, when snapping together 3d Objects, I can hold the V key and it will snap pieces to Vertices. Its incredibly useful for making sure things snap together evenly.
Move and Align to view. There is a function that allows me to select a 3D object (any object actually) and I can press a shortcut to move or align the selected object to view (wherever the view is in the scene view). Is there anything like this in UE5? Many thanks
I'm a little bit late and I'm not sure if I'll even get an answer for this but, where do I get the AncientContent stuff for the terrain? I've been through the beginning of the video a few times but I can't find where he got it from...
So I'm trying to do this but I am having trouble importing the project files. The actors are invisible when I drop them into the viewport. I get a pop up that says something about a data table but I dont know what to do with that. Desperately need help with this if anyone knows of a fix - Thanks for reading!
Is anyone having issues with creating a Valley of the Ancients project? Mine just takes a really long time and then it throws some dependencies errors, I've had to force quit from it since my PC slows down by a lot
Hi! I'm on a Mac so I can't access the environmental meshes. What should I do?
Amazing tutorial thanks! Does anyone know where I can get the Valley of the Ancient assets and terrain on Mac? I tried to download via Epic Games but it says unavailable
im not sure but have you checked mega scans assets
@@top_gaming I have and there are other sandstone assets which is a workaround. I was just looking for the pre-built level but not a problem anymore. Thanks for your response anyway tho 🙏
You can't get this content on a Mac. If you have access to a PC, you can download the project there and migrate the content across but I wouldn't do this for 2 reasons. 1) it will take a LONG time and 2) I doubt your Mac could handle it, regardless of spec
I wonder if the challenge is allowed to add our own modeling asset? thank you
You can definitely include assets from other sources or of your own making! Just be sure to use at least one Mission to Minerva asset and stick the overall theme of the challenge. More info in our FAQ at the bottom of the page here: kitbash3d.com/pages/minerva
Hey it's Zack!!
