The grain has to be pre conditioned with water to get a big puff. I wash the grain for 5 seconds ,let the water drain off, then let sit for at least 8 hours so that the grain gets hydrated. Then use as usual to puff.
When i was 4 or 5 years old(1965?) i saw Kelloggs puffed wheat and sugar pops coming out of a metal cannon tube about as big as a grain auger on a combine harvestor . Inside the factory was like a giant clean space astronaut movie to me . Sorry , but i did not figure it out to tell you exactly how it worked . 1. very hot . 2. Shot out like a cannon continuously . 3. Maybe look that up .
I have 3 of these machines, 1 small one that does about 1/2 cup at a time & two others that do about a half gallon or gallon per batch. Any type of grain. Popcorn 160 psi range, wheat 180 psi range.
in china they get even bigger,it's a street vendor thing. not just popcorn either, a nickname for the machine is grain amplifier because it puffs various grains not just corn.
THANK YOU FOR KNOWLEDGE VERY GOOD IDEA THANK YOU AGAIN SIR YOU ARE GREAT HERE KARISHNA I ALSO MAKE IN INDIA IN DELHI BUT I BLAST IN ROOM YOUR IDEA IS VERY GOOD
@@SSJIndy The "shot from guns" commercial I watched as a kid was memorable. As a kid raised in Akron, Ohio in the fifties, I remember waking up many days to the wonderful processing smells of Quaker Oats. The old silos were converted into a hotel years ago. But I have not returned to Akron to see it.
If any of you young kids happen upon this video, this is how we used to pop popcorn before microwaves were invented. Almost every household had a "Uncle Sam's Popcorn Puffer.".
Hi! Thank you for sharing your video. But I would like to know if there is another way, a little more traditional to do this at home without this machine and can take more time for example through the pressure cooker and then put in the oven to dry ?
The little chinese ones look like they use clear ge silicone window door all purpise caulk . The $12 per tube kind . Not painter caulk . It has a seal . Thats what it looks like they used and they called. It silicone it will stick to metal . Like a sliding patio door frame to the cement floor for years . Its dangerous to build a cirn grain cannon . They use thick stainless steel i heard . . I can't tell you anything for sure i might buy a little one frkm amazon to try first ..
I have no idea why this would be useful and have no idea what puff corn is but i guess its a decent self defense tool beside the fact it's a million times slower than loading a musket and shoots puffed corn😂 regardless it appeared on my fyp so i liked and left this comment to try and help the algorithm
How would you open it ? No i think a bean cooker gas a hole in the top with loose top wobbling and puffing as it is used for regulating the pressure safely .and it is not good to plug it up .
no but you can buy a fully made tiny one perfect for a normal amount of food...this thing is closer to the big ones that street vendors in China use and unnecessary for a few people or less....plus depending where you live even the small one might cause trouble, they sound like a small bomb going off lol,the bigger the louder.
Paul, great video. You mentioned you saw a video once but were unable to find it again, that showed a grain puffer being rotated by machine.....ua-cam.com/video/5xhHUmCA80Q/v-deo.html and also, ua-cam.com/video/2g_BSC4ikPY/v-deo.html.
This video is ten years old. Imagine making a youtube video which hardly gets any views. Then ten years later it randomly goes viral.
Maybe it’s like a car odometer and started over
Fucking bomb. Had it failed it would have been viral long time ago

Your channel is greatly underappreciated . No other survival channel on yt ever said much about these things
Ten years later, I hope that young Matthew is running that machine now! 😊 nice video. Beautiful farm. 🇺🇸

Very nice group of people. God bless them.
"Let’s make an exploding corn cannon that makes burnt popcorn.", said no woman ever. 😆
in china they get even bigger,it's a street vendor thing.

I have seen videos of them making puffed rice with those machines. Works really well.
They work a lot better once they're heated up.

U could use a wiper motor to shake it
Nice build. Would you mind sharing what release mechanism you used and what is the gasket material?
Gasket is probably nitrile
Quaker cereal. Shot from Guns. I still remember.
Quaker got rid of all their cannons. Last one was in Danville Illinois but factory burned last year and they shuttered it permanently.

This is true freedom, thanks you for sharing
You're not really cooking until the sockets come out.
When I was 6 I ate Sugar puffs , Sugar pops , all types of puffed grain cereal. 60 years later I learn how its made. Isnt life grand.
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
We still need a video showing the details on the release lever mechanisim.
Maybe a drawing of how it's put together also. Plans for sale?

wtf you talking about we just use a pot with a lid and little oil pop the popcorn
@@JacobButthole-nx1pdI think he was trolling kids into believing that but then again your prolly a kid if you didn't realize that.
I bet ball bearings would make an excellent substitution.

The cereal that's shot from guns.
Hi. Brilliant .I made a cannon but it looses pressure from the lid. Don't know how to cure the problem. What do you use at the lid. Thank you.

Is that Cyrus from the Trailer Park Boys?
Homemade puffed corn cereal
Not to be confused with a peter puffer. Lol
Can you just use a regular pressure cooker?

Did he blow his hairline back with that thing????
Thats woody harrelson
Ex Amish always had the best ideas
What is maximum pressure
150 pond
160 pounds
100 to 110 psi and you won't have burnt bird food
They do the same thing in China.
😊
