The Phil Spector 'Wall Of Sound' is very apparent in 'Here We Go Again'. Loved all Lennon since the Beatles were on the old am tin radio in the early 60's. I still remember Love love me do & She love's you yeah yeah yeah as a very young child of around 6yrs old lol

Everyone goes on and on about the superiority of vinyl and I had forgotten how much it pops and crackles. But this is a great song of John's "lost" period (not really lost but intentionally not promoted by him because he wanted the world to think he'd retired). Should have been the song the "Beatles" released instead of "Now and Then".
Incredible album. Wish it was on streaming platforms. Incredible Phil Spector production on this side. Magnificent stuff. Hearing John against a full blown WallOfSound is an incredible, almost spiritual experience. Love the ethereal, layered, and spacey atmosphere Spector gave these recordings. Perfectly suited for John’s voice. Wish we could’ve heard more Spector/Lennon collaborations, it’s a shame that the R&R era was their last . I’ve often thought Lennon’s following albums would’ve all benefited from Spector, because everything he did with Spector was to such high standard, and I think without a producer with a such a vision as Phil’s, it was easier for songs to get released with more orthodox backing tracks and mixing styles, not to mention the high bar of material QC that was in place for the Spector albums. The ones after him all feature a mixed bag. I enjoy his production on Yoko’s Season Of Glass, a perfect blend of his trademark Spector sound and a 80s adult contemporary sound. Makes me wish Spector would’ve produced Double Fantasy, which despite being released in multiple mixes, I’ve always felt the mixes lacked and could’ve used some of that Spector production/mixing magic that made POB, Imagine, ATMP, Bangladesh album, STINYC, and Let It Be all sound so great. I think Lennon’s best emulation of Spector’s production methods is #9 Dream, but I can only imagine how much more lush it would sound had he co-produced it with Spector . Thanks for sharing this !!
Phil Spector abused his Negro wife, shot his girlfriend dead. He died in prison. He was a horrible Ashkenazi Khazar Jew. This album adds a lot of reverb on certain instruments and little or none on others. This is not to my taste. Stop praising Phil Spector. He is burning in Hell right now, where he belongs, by his own choice, a conceited little prick.

This is Way Overproduced. There's everything in there but the kitchen sink. John was at his best with bare bone productions like the John Lennon Plastic Ono band debut album. This production just muddies up the songs.
I have been a massive Beatles fan my entire life. I'm almost 60 now and I've always been intrigued by John Lennon. However, if he hadn't met Yoko Ono, he could have been so much more and The Beatles could have reunited and Lennon moved back to the UK to be with his family. As it turned out, his post Beatles career wasn't great. He began singing in Americanisms and lost his way. His song writing and singing tanked, with only a few greats compared to McCartney. He even lost interest in his career at one point. Sadly, it ended up with his murder, all this thanks to the self centred, selfish manipulation and aexploitation of Yoko Ono.
I never heard this. I'm not a big Phil Spector admirer. Too flamboyant. And too much reverb. They must have been wasted during these Rock n Roll takes. I thought the Be Bop a Lula track was good. The piano is great. It's not on here though.

Not sure why but it's still available on various physical formats ('Menlove Avenue' and the soundtrack to the documentary 'The U.S. vs. John Lennon').
