So glad you made this video UR. A little back story My dad passed away 2021 and all his RCBS equipment was passed down to me so proud to have a bench full of green! I replicated is bench and now even prouder to support an American family run company! The memories of my dad standing at his bench and now me with those memories doing the same thing.. I look forward to the exciting new things RCBS has to offer and one day I can pass down a bigger tradition of green to one of my sons. Thank you!
I still have the RCBS equipment I grew up on in the 60’s. I inherited it all from my father who taught me all things firearms, gunsmithing, reloading, hunting etc. so glad to see the company continue the legacy!
Live in Chico about 20 minutes from RCBS. RCBS is its people. You can walk into the front door and get any questions or concern taken care of. I could bring in my Grand American shot shell press and have it tuned. No cost. Left with the press like new with spare parts. They don’t have a sales floor. What they have are folks that know how to listen and help. Not uncommon for whoever is in the reaction to call or walk into the back and bring someone out to help me. “Sure, no problem. Let me get you a couple of those.” That is RCBS. Going over on Monday and see if they can make a set of 22ARC dies for me. Probably try and convince them to bring back the Grand American.
I have been impressed with their support of The Grand shotshell press. I’m not a fan of their rifle dies and some of their other reloading gear, but I love the presses and the support.
@@Shoot-4-FunThey continue to support the Grand. I’m afraid one day they’ll no longer be able to do so. If you can find one used grab it. They will go through it and bring it back to spec.
Like another commenter said, none of this will matter without the cost of powders and primers coming back down to normal! Maybe not 10 years ago normal, but 4-5 years ago, normal. $56 dollars a pound for powder is outrageous! Some 8lbs. Kegs are in the $500 range! Nuts! Great video, and sorry for the rant! I just bought a few pounds of powder, and it hurt!😂
I was looking at my reloading stuff the other day and realized I have well over $1000 worth of powder, and close to that amount in primers ( let's not even talk about bullets/ brass LOL).. thank goodness I bought it (mostly) before the current prices :)
@ I know what you mean! I won’t say how much I have in $$$, but I will say I have over $600 in powders I don’t like.😬 Mainly for them being very temp sensitive and or plainly not shooting well. I try to stick to the “extreme powders” or at least powders that aren’t too bad at temp sensitivity like RL26. You know, for Grand being a ball powder, I would have thought it would have been priced more affordably, but it costs just as much as H-1000. I’ll always hand load because it’s a passion and I shoot farther at things than most people should, but for firearms that won’t see more than 400 yards, I probably will just buy box ammo anymore. I think us binge buying or hoarding, is where the idea to price gouge came from. 🤷🏻♂️ I know I’m guilty. You just never know when the last time you see a powder or primers or any component, will be the last time, for 5 or 6 years.
@@rustyshackleford4911 if that were to be the case now, I’d jump for joy and buy the limit! 😂 I believe my best memory when it comes to reloading and components, is when you had the options to buy or pass on something and not feeling like i just found a diamond and I better take it and run now. It honestly feels like a secret when you find your favorite powder for sale! Not on sale, but for sale! I know it’s not hodgdon, but I haven’t seen unobtainiam RL26 for about 4 years now. I’ll see on rockslide or sniper’s hide or lrho, that RL26 is for sale on a website, and by the time I rush to the site, it’s all gone. Same with brass and primers.
Actually before COVID I was reloading 9mm for $7.9 box of 50 and TODAY that is $9.01/ box which equates to a 14% rise which is very in line with the inflation that has plagued our country and in fact is quite a bit less!
With trump back in im confident you'll see demand go down even more. We are already seeing it, retailers are just hesitant to drop prices when they have a 75% margin setup now.
The 'prices' are not going up. The value of the fiat money (aka fake money) is going down rapidly. Inflation is NOT prices going up, it IS the value of fiat money going down. Better buckle up for the next wave of hyper inflation and transitioning to token system, via crypto currencies. The big 'T' is installed to facilitate the switch to a tokenized system.
I have been using RCBS loading equipment since 1968! I started with a RCBS Junior press and dies in 243 win a Lyman scale and a pacific powder measure. Over the years I have updated to the Rock Chucker press also a couple RCBS case trimers and one powder measure. I am loading for 7 different calibers these days and the equipment is all first class. I am especially impressed with the Match Master dies along with Gold Metal dies.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a RCBS precision mic that wouldn't zero properly. A phone call to RCBS and a new one was in the mail at no charge. Still a great company!
I have two RCBS presses, I purchased my first one 1982 ( RC) and it is still used daily, my second press is a ( JR ) dated 1972 given to me by a friend who no longer reloads, I assume I'll be taking up some of his work, for donating it to me !!
I want to fall in love with RCBS again. Embrace new tech, and why it is needed/ wanted and the improved results moving forward. Also a well thought out social media campaign. And then take my money!
I have green, however, its the Redding green. I'm very glad to see RCBS purchased by Hodgdon. Should be a good match for the reloading enthusiast. Hopefully the RCBS products will be more available.
I started on a super old rock chucker. Went to a summit press, rcbs prochucker 5 progressive, and now back to a new rockchucker and Dillon 750… Their CS is amazing. I did not like the prochucker 5, but you can’t beat a rockchucker imo. I also have the total case prep station with trimmer and that is awesome.
Don't know about everyone else, but if RCBS customer service goes down hill, Im going to a different company. Their customer service and appreciation towards military and Vets is what kept me around
I feel guilty at times with their customer service. I ask to buy parts worn from thousands of brass cycles. "No, we'll just send you a new one". But I respond, it's not a warranty request, It's from my heavy use.... "No, we'll just send you a new one"...
My first press was and still is a Rockchucker that I bought 40+ years ago to load 6mm Rem and 357 Mag. It has been a great tool. I have a number of other RCBS tools and die sets…good stuff!
So that is nice that RCBS is up and running again but RCBS products won’t do us any good without powder. Powder just trickles in and most of us can’t get the powders we need.
Good luck to them. I use some RCBS equipment. There is a huge playing field now and it's hard to say which way to go. Seems every week there is a better something. Scale, dies etc.. every part of the reloading process I have is from a different manufacturer. And I like that!

I drive by RCBS factory once a month or so. I have never been able to stop because I'm working. I hope I can stop by one day when I'm not working and in Oroville.
My biggest thing I love about the Hodgdon Family is their Mission Statement. Any one who stands up for Jesus Christ will always get my business. And now you’re about to get more.
Several years ago when Dillon was out of dies and I bought my press I had to go to RCBS for a couple of sets of dies. They had them in stock at a very fair price. Got them in just a few days as well... Quality dies that are very consistent and easy to set up. Fast forward to today... As I add calibers to my reloading repertoire guess who gets my die business? Guess who is going to get my single stage press business when I make room to set one up?

I do love my RCBS comp seating die with the window in the side wish redding would do that on there smaller caliber dies glad to see Hodgson take over.
I am glad to see a change in ownership. I quit using RCBS years ago after repeated poor customer service. I was repeatedly told to purchase an entirely complete product instead of a part. Hopefully this attitude will change. Right now, my bench is more orange than green.
RCBS used to be second to none in customer service. Then I've been hearing RCBS took a nose dive, and even were not following through with treating customers right. They used to be the best. I HOPE they are better now, and go back to treating their customers right. Back in the 90's, I had an issue with a die set, I contacted them, and they said send the die in and we will look at it. They sent me a new die, with a fired piece of brass, and that die is awesome. Been using it ever since!! All I use is RCBS, except I use Hornady lock rings on the RCBS die sets. That is something RCBS really needs to improve on. That little brass set screw is WORTHLESS!!!!! That is the first thing I change on my RCBS dies, when I get them!!
Have you done an eval on RCBS’s newer style VLD 3 way cutter for their trimmers? The one with allen screws, not the thumb screw. Looks like it might be easier to adjust than the Henderson and it goes up to 50.
@ Sweet! Actually as far as Henderson goes, of the trimmers I’ve used I prefer the style that grabs the case by the rim or extractor groove and clamps the case head into the face it indexes off of (like Lyman universal) as opposed to the Forster style that constrict to grab the side.
Are they going to re-invigorate customer service? I was shocked a few years back when they wouldn't service products I owned for years. I originally went with the brand because they would replace anything broke, no questions asked.
This is kinda funny. While I'm watching this video, I'm loading up some ammo with hodgdon cfe223 with my rcbs chargemaster supreme and rebel press using rcbs 233 rem dies.
Reloading is one of my favorite hobbies. If the cost of primers and powder comes back to a reasonable price I’ll get to enjoy it, again. But, at today’s prices I no longer practice that hobby. These prices make me wonder if reloading is a dying hobby.
Sorry, but my “Green Machine” says Redding, or Blue Press’s. I once owned a Rockchucker, but along with the majority of my reloading stuff, I lost them in a divorcing accident. Since then I’ve slowly been trying to rebuild my setup, but in today’s market it’s 2-3 times more expensive. Also, I think Redding dies are much nicer than all of the other mainstream brands. As for Hodgdon, they need to figure out how to lower their pricing and up their availability. They have become a big monopoly that is very concerning!! Reloading isn’t even economical anymore. It’s has become an hobby for those that like to build custom ammo, buy really expensive tools and gadgets, and a way to stay out in the shop, away from the family. 🤔
Got into handloading over thirty years ago with a Rock Chucker II single stage press kit and a set of .340 Wby dies. Thousands of handloads in various calibers later, it's still my main go-to press, even though I recently added a Lyman All American Eight Station turret press to my bench. Like all things handloading, the prices on RCBS products have risen dramatically. Still, it's a hobby that I enjoy, and that means I will always be a consumer of the goods and services associated with it.
I load 6 calibers using RCBS presses, dies and parts. Their rep reigns long and wide, their engineering keeps me a customer. Prices are fine, delivery ok, but marketing is non-existent. Their instruction manuals suck. If RCBS drops the ball, Hornady and Forster will see them out. I saw or heard nothing here to enhance my appreciation of this great firm and how Hodgdon can keep them front and foremost. Innovate, or die! (when Toobe said.......that's very very cool, with no follow up question, I realized this is an infomercial). This approach, needs 180 degree lateral thinking.
Will it support its customers who bought its products from USA and are located in Europe or will it remain indifferent and unreliable? Until the end of 2017 it was flawless in everything, then what happened?
Oh great, now RCBS pricing will go sky high also just like the rest of Hodgdon owned brands…. The fact that someone with the Hodgdon mentioned cost effective is stupid!
Ok. Get them back on the market at a reasonable price. Quit with the inflation bs. So many businesses are expanding and growing due to the double almost triple prices. Blaming the price on inflation but yet growing at break neck rates.
I have multiple presses and dies for everything i shoot. Its the components that are ridiculously over priced. I have roughly 40 pounds of Shooters world powders that i paid $17 a pound for, now its $40+ a pound. What a ripoff

My older brother had the one of the old model kind the c type think he got in 1976 ,he gave it to my son hope he doesn't take it back lol
Just sad RCBS are over the double price of other brands.. exampel a 8x58 FL dieset is 234,52 Euro, 246,04 US dollars .Here in Denmark..
Bring back the jr press please!
Hodgdon to the rescue !
I have my RCBS Rock Chucker right beside my desk in my spare bedroom.🫡
And I watch UA-cam on a TV mounted above my reloading bench.👍
My take on going green is buy RCBS!!!!! Loyal customer for over 30 years.
This is interesting...
Yes, bring back the special order die manufacturing!
Price to high on rcbs products
Better step it up and get rid of all the one off companies. Even the specialized ones.. Glad to see your on track.
