  • After suffering from Cystic Fibrosis her entire life, Jennifer is taking her first unobstructed breath after her lung transplant when the breathing tube is removed. Her face is simply magical!
Please share to help people see the power of organ donation.
We want everyone to consider donating your organs and make sure it's checked on your drivers license and communicated to your loved ones. Please consider registering now at registerme.org/. Thank you to the generous donor family and Mayo Clinic for making Jennifer's miracle possible.

Wanted to share an update, Jennifer and I recently celebrated the six year anniversary of her double lung transplant on October 19th, 2023, and the beautiful gift from Lacey which has given us so much life we didn't expect!
Her annual checkups were excellent and she's doing well living each day!

When I was 13, I told my parents that if something happens to me and I’m declared brain dead with little to no chance of waking up, I wanted them to let me go and have my organs donated so my death wasn’t in vain. When my grandmother died when I was 15, I repeated that same statement to them. (Her death made me reflect a lot at the time.) it’s been a little over a year now and that still holds true. Watching this video reminded me of that, as well as giving me a comforting feeling that if something happens to me and I am no longer alive, then a least one other person can have a better life from my death.

Its a major operation so there are always unexpected issues, like blood clots, etc. The first year was most difficult. Its physically tough to come back from an extensive operation like that when you are 68. Took a while. But since then no major issues. Just minor adjustments in medication. Quite successful really. The success goes to the docs. I am in Houston. The transplant team at St. Lukes have been fabulous. I get tested and see them every 3 months. They tell me I am quite stable, although my kids would be the last to use that term to describe me! I go for long walks, go to the gym and row. Life is fun again.

She looks like shes getting high just by breathing normally. i cant imagine how frightening it must be to live constantly without the ability to get enough air

High on life. That must feel so good to breathe on her own for the first time.

I watched my grandfather fight for air when he had lung cancer that ravaged him. He fought like hell in that 19 months. He was told he wouldn’t make it 6 weeks when he was diagnosed. I can’t wait to see him again one day. 💔

Это выражение лица, эмоции от возможности дышать(!) самостоятельно (!). Невероятно!

I had a high school friend that died in 1982 at the age of 21 from cystic fibrosis. This is wonderful. RIP to a great guy Trey Holderby.

I was very happy for this woman. This was not due to smoking but it was a condition she was born with. I wished my mother never smoked. She passed in 2014 and she suffered for many years with COPD and lung cancer. Both conditions are so painful and it is painful for the family members to see their love ones in so much pain. I am sure this woman suffered her whole life and I hope things are working out for her and she can live a happier life without pain.
