watching just the cutscenes like this makes no sense :))) like a very weird nightmare or something. unlike actually playing the game, which results in just a regular nightmare.
Wrong. It's because Yoko Taro was assigned to make a Dynasty Warriors Clone, but he didn't quite get the appeal of those kind of games, how characters of those kind of games are able to kill masses of enemies without any remourse or deep psychological problems afterwards. So he created main characters who would fit in this kind of scenario, made them insane psychopath's or soziopaths and thus formed the Drakengard Universe as it is now - ab insane and fucked up cynically world. If the west publishers wouldn't have been so prude, we would have got at least a proper translation and so a much more clear story progression. In the japanese version Furiae (Caim's Sister) is really into her brother - I mean, really heavily sexually attracted to him. Leonart is a pedophile, Arioche is a cannibalist and Caim an even more violent dick than Guts from Berserk (killing child soldiers in a side mission). The really only "human" character is the red dragon.

The context of the scene made it clear that "Watashi ni" here means "(I want you) inside me" it is exactly as lewd as it sounds Another tidbit: when Manah calls Furiae "dirt" the exact japanese verbiage was "kuso" which _can_ mean "dirt" but it also means "shit" especially given the gravity of the conversation. Manah at another instance calls Furiae "kuso yarou" which means literally "shit-bastard". Very disgusting things for a child to say in either language, but especially in Japanese!
Had this game for about 8 years, still mint, still play it all the time, 2 wasn't quite the same, but good if you don't judge by comparison, which is hard as it's a direct sequel continuing from ending A. Nier the spin-off continuing from Ending E is a great similar but different enough experience once you're into it. Anyone who has the slightest interest in fantasy, action or RPG games should find this easy to fall in love with. (Yearns for Drakengard 3)
Well.... the creator wanted to deconstruct various tropes with action-adventure games and Medieval fiction. Plus, I think a good majority of Drakengard was inspired by the messed-up manga, Berserk. Hell, Caim is basically a mute Guts.
linearman0245 And the Faerie was based on Puck, but to have a reversed effect on the tone. Puck lightened some things up. the Faerie brings everything down
What the literal fuck. I had a random thought about this game the other day and figured I'd watch the gameplay and cutscenes for old time's sake. I played this game when I was like 12 when it first came out. I literally shit myself rewatching these. I mean I remembered it being sort of unsettling and trippy but I never saw the baby shit in game when I played it.
This game was really hard to get all endings, you need to have some swords, and some random characters to unlock the endings, almost repeat and make some missions in a limit time. I unlocked all except the last, and it seams this game don't have a happy ending, never.
So I played the first part of this up to the point where the guy plays the flute. Him turning evil and kidnapping the girl is understandable for the game. And then the drop into What The FUCK just happened land. How the hell did they wind up in Tokyo, what happened to the main character, did he time travel and not save the girl!! Lmao the hell did I just watch
+A.C. Hofer I had to do the same thing. I just did a review on Drakengard 3 without playing 1 and 2, so now I'm doing research and it makes sense but...wtf? xD
+Pirachu The Adorable Rat Mascot (Shitpost central KYU) i know right its so hard to understand what is actually going in all de drakengards is it hard becouse it follows its own logic i only understand drakengard 3 if you play the whole game but the ending is still confusing also a lot of story is also in game itself not only in cutscene's
+Vittorio Pugliese even HIS voice actor for like the 7 lines he has does EXTREMELY well. one of the games that i have still not sold or traded it. its a classic.
tensuzanpakto His voice actor was so good that it made me feel that he's an actual character with his own personality, not just a meh empty shell like Gordon Freeman, whom I often mistook for Morgan when I was young.
The best thing about this game. Is when it was fresh, we all thought later endings would get happier. Oh how naive we were. they only got worse and worse.
I've only played Drakengard 3 and i was hoping watching 1 and 2 would help clear some things leading up to the shitty protagonist in 3. No answers were revealed watching this. P.s.: wtf, giant babies and fucked up characters. I was obviously sheltered playing FF and KH games @.@
Am i the only one here who thinks that the tokyo ending kills the mood of the entire game? Such an amazing effed up game like this and the true ending involves being shot down by fighter jets in tokyo? Way to go square-enix. (Not hating on them i just highly dislike that ending)
The whole entire theme of the game is that murderers don't deserve a happy ending. FunFact: Square is not really proud of this games series because the director did what he wanted. And the director isn't proud of this game because Square didn't give him enough time to finish it properly.
***** Well for one, Square didn't make the game. Cavia did And I'm pretty sure Yoko Taro is proud of it. He's certainly more proud of it than DoD2 (which I for the record love just as much)
+Jonathan Hirst All depends on your definition of canon. Technically, because of alternate universe and diverging timeline BS, ALL of the endings are canon, its just that not all of the endings lead to the same games.
alguém sabe me dizer como abro essa fase, ja finalizei varias vezes mais não consigo abrir a fase secreta do capitulo 11 so abre ate o verso 4 o seguinte não consigo abrir, alguém pode me ajudar
you are telling me that in the end Angelus died in modern life Tokyo after she killed the queen in the final fight because some idiots F16 launched missiles at her and this is what lead to Nier the first game, then how exactly did Angelus and Caim both survive and continue the lore of drakengard 2? besides how the hell do you meet up with the nice lady with her ice and fire pact spirits and how do you meet with Manna's brother? i got the first ending which is as i believe the true ending for drakengard 2 to exist... holy god do i need a lore explaining for drakengard games!
according to the explaining itself it seemed to me that you meet fire and ice lady as well Manna's brother in your 2nd playthrough rather than the first playthrough; because in my first playthrough i did not encounter her while i was AIMING to recruit her because the wiki says that if you get her as your ally you don't need anyone other than her thanks to her very strong attacks. and what about the final seal and Angelus' death? the dragon died to become a seal how come Caim's sister did not? and if her death was just like her life where was the last seal exactly hiding then? don't tell me she was pregnant with Caim's kid and that was the actual seal!
Branch E is the only canon ending. Drakengard 2 has no official timeline. It's not considered canon by the devs. Drakengard 3 is a prologue that only leads to Drakengard 1 by a DLC or something (Branch E) Nier is the only game to have a direct sequel

+Stellacept Tekai All I know it is ****ing baby is super SCARY but I just said "Wtf?..."
xDDD
The lesson of this game is: Accord saw things.
Soooooo....
Which was was the good ending? lol
really none of them but the first one is more happier than the others
Such a bizarre game, but one I greatly enjoyed.
Edit: And that last ending was a freaking bitch to get.
superjail and attack on titan had a baby and sent it back in time.
Ok I'm sorry, but I started to laugh my head of when babies started falling from the sky. lol
Everything about this game reeked of death...a tragedy from the beginning really. Sad..
I fucking lost my shit when the giant babies appeared ×D
whats the name of the track where caim meets the dragon for the first time?
This is some beautiful shit right here...
technology sure has changed.
This game is so weird in so many ways...
20:01 ugh.. that's some disturbing imagery. Man, ending B is crooked.
Jade Demers the scream is bone chilling
This looks like an Fd up game. I love JRPGs but wow....how is the gameplay? Those giant babies...*shiver*
The Drakengard games are so fucked up man
Well.... the creator wanted to deconstruct various tropes with action-adventure games and Medieval fiction.
Plus, I think a good majority of Drakengard was inspired by the messed-up manga, Berserk. Hell, Caim is basically a mute Guts.
linearman0245 And the Faerie was based on Puck, but to have a reversed effect on the tone. Puck lightened some things up. the Faerie brings everything down
linearman0245 It was also inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion series
Rex8483
That can I definitely believe.
Sorry kids but if you want to actually get the story then play the game lol
well it's a good thing I wasn't planning on going to bed any time soon....fuckin babies >>
Jay Norco the good ending is when time comes to a stop
What the literal fuck. I had a random thought about this game the other day and figured I'd watch the gameplay and cutscenes for old time's sake. I played this game when I was like 12 when it first came out. I literally shit myself rewatching these. I mean I remembered it being sort of unsettling and trippy but I never saw the baby shit in game when I played it.
This game was really hard to get all endings, you need to have some swords, and some random characters to unlock the endings, almost repeat and make some missions in a limit time. I unlocked all except the last, and it seams this game don't have a happy ending, never.
Fucking love this game
So I played the first part of this up to the point where the guy plays the flute. Him turning evil and kidnapping the girl is understandable for the game. And then the drop into What The FUCK just happened land. How the hell did they wind up in Tokyo, what happened to the main character, did he time travel and not save the girl!! Lmao the hell did I just watch
OK so I wikipediad it... Yeaaaah these games are still F'd up in my opinion, but the alternative endings make sense to me now lol
+A.C. Hofer I had to do the same thing. I just did a review on Drakengard 3 without playing 1 and 2, so now I'm doing research and it makes sense but...wtf? xD
Am I the only one that thinks a live action Drakengard adaptation could be done well?
yes. movie would have to suck tremendous amounts of shit for it to be anywhere as close to the game
00:27 what did she say? "its begins"?
Xemnas, is that you?
This was.. really weird. xD
I love the game but I'm confused on one thing. Who were the watchers? Was it the giant babies?
What the fuck did I just watch!?
+xXMist FawkesXx RONALD MC-GODDAMN DONALD! It's from tourettes guy.
+Pirachu The Adorable Rat Mascot (Shitpost central KYU) i know right
its so hard to understand what is actually going
in all de drakengards is it hard becouse it follows its own logic
i only understand drakengard 3 if you play the whole game but the ending is still confusing
also a lot of story is also in game itself not only in cutscene's
Yep...
its weird but noting makes sense so thats why its so hard to understand
+Pirachu The Adorable Rat Mascot (Shitpost central KYU) attack of the babies
The hero looks like squall lionheart
idk wtf is going on....guess i'll just play it.
Wait did the anches dragon character die or was her soul been devoured by that pink glow?
man the voice acting is a LOT better than i remember
+Vittorio Pugliese
even HIS voice actor for like the 7 lines he has does EXTREMELY well. one of the games that i have still not sold or traded it. its a classic.
tensuzanpakto His voice actor was so good that it made me feel that he's an actual character with his own personality, not just a meh empty shell like Gordon Freeman, whom I often mistook for Morgan when I was young.
WTF DID I JUST WATCH.................XD, WTF DID I JUST WATCH............
I love these games.
The best thing about this game. Is when it was fresh, we all thought later endings would get happier. Oh how naive we were. they only got worse and worse.
I hated the gameplay (except the dragon flying parts) and the whole thing creeped me out to no end. I'm scared to keep playing the rest of the series!
oh don't worry they pussified Drakengard 2 for all to enj- [barf]
***** And what about Drakengard 3, its more pussified than ever. For luck for all the world it only come out in japan.
Drakengard!
Is the Tokyo ending even canon?
Jonathan Hirst For Nier, Yes. Drakengard 2, No.
***** Well for one, Square didn't make the game. Cavia did
And I'm pretty sure Yoko Taro is proud of it. He's certainly more proud of it than DoD2 (which I for the record love just as much)
+Jonathan Hirst All depends on your definition of canon. Technically, because of alternate universe and diverging timeline BS, ALL of the endings are canon, its just that not all of the endings lead to the same games.
man i forgott how disturbing the game was i never got the tokyo ending though the only one i missed. Also i need to play Nier if ever i get to it.
so this is not chronological order?
私はヨーコタラゲームが大好き
Me to
alguém sabe me dizer como abro essa fase, ja finalizei varias vezes mais não consigo abrir a fase secreta do capitulo 11 so abre ate o verso 4 o seguinte não consigo abrir, alguém pode me ajudar
Falsche Reihenfolge, aber trotzdem danke fürs uploaden!
This game had awesome gameplay......but these scenes disturb me still.
you are telling me that in the end Angelus died in modern life Tokyo after she killed the queen in the final fight because some idiots F16 launched missiles at her and this is what lead to Nier the first game, then how exactly did Angelus and Caim both survive and continue the lore of drakengard 2? besides how the hell do you meet up with the nice lady with her ice and fire pact spirits and how do you meet with Manna's brother? i got the first ending which is as i believe the true ending for drakengard 2 to exist... holy god do i need a lore explaining for drakengard games!
according to the explaining itself it seemed to me that you meet fire and ice lady as well Manna's brother in your 2nd playthrough rather than the first playthrough; because in my first playthrough i did not encounter her while i was AIMING to recruit her because the wiki says that if you get her as your ally you don't need anyone other than her thanks to her very strong attacks. and what about the final seal and Angelus' death? the dragon died to become a seal how come Caim's sister did not? and if her death was just like her life where was the last seal exactly hiding then? don't tell me she was pregnant with Caim's kid and that was the actual seal!
Branch E is the only canon ending. Drakengard 2 has no official timeline. It's not considered canon by the devs.
Drakengard 3 is a prologue that only leads to Drakengard 1 by a DLC or something (Branch E) Nier is the only game to have a direct sequel
Thanks to canon, we can all just ignore that Drakengard 2 was ever released, and for that, I am thankful.
All endings are canons, they are diferent time line :D
Wouldn't be too bad a movie or perhaps a series
