Nope but I think you're getting there. I did something similar and had to add drain holes and support legs in the middle to the bed. Good luck and great video
@@johnbronson8928 thanks for the comment! I added drain holes as well, and so far it is holding up quite nicely. I'm interested to see if I wind up with any of the middle sag you mention.
@@peterevans8194 dang! To be honest, I was worried about it in the beginning which is why I bought lockable toolboxes (they are screwed down too). But I haven't had anything taken so far. Fingers crossed it continues 🤞
@@hsdesignstudio It's so bad over here, most trade people either remove all their tools from their vehicles every night, or use steel VanVaults...with the advent of 18v battery grinders ect the thieving scumbags can get into pretty much anything these days though....Good luck with your set up and all the best for the New Year; let's hope it's better than 2020!
Finally, someone who has an open truck bed. I've designed and redesigned the back of my truck so many times, looking for the perfect organizational system. I like the holder for the boxes you made. I have a ladder rack as well as a headache rack that actually limits what I can buy, build or design for tool and parts storage. Thankyou for showing your ideas.
Great Idea! I used to have a big crossbed toolbox on my truck, but it was overkill and I was never happy with the reduced visibilty when looking over my shoulder, so I got rid of it. But I'm going to use your idea and have a friend with a welder to make something similar out of steel.
Funny you should say that- I'm so happy with this, I'm going to take a crack at making a steel framed one next spring. The wood has been good so far with no issues, but I don't see it lasting more than 3-5 years.
Umm, By the time you buy two metal tool boxes - you might as well by a cheap Husky or Craftsman cross over... That said, I'm using your design and building wood boxes...
it's not the wrong way, they are manufactured to wear on your front but a lot of people wear them backwards. I see the majority of people wear them that way, I frame a lot so I wear bags on my hips, the aprons are great for lighter work like this and inside work.
Think it will last the winter?!

Nice work, but would not work over here as all your stuff would be stolen within the week!

I did the tonneau thing for a couple years and it was just a pain
Looks nice & lite . full length bed at bottom , Great stuff .
Thanks, lasted the winter quite well too
Now build a ladder that folds up like the Decked Crossover... I'll steal that idea as-well...LOL
What a fantastic idea

Like the creativity! I might make a modified version of this.
Thanks 👍 Best of luck- mine has held up quite well so far
Thats cool, you should put 2 more running along the bedsides on the inside behind fender wells so you can access them from the ground!
That would have been a good addition - truck is gone now though!
Awesome idea
😮
How big are those tool boxes? We don't have a Princess Auto here. Very cool build. Thanks.
Thanks 👍 I can't find the exact dimensions, but they are roughly 20" long, by 10" wide, and 10" deep.
fresh bro

This is a cool idea, but basically, anyone can jump in the back of your truck and steal these toolboxes?
Your wearing your tool belt around the wrong way 👍🏻
I'm aware- I do it on purpose 👍

Put some boots on lmao
Sandals aren't OSHA approved? 🤣
