- How to build a truck bed tool box for your pickup truck out of electrical conduit and metal flashing. My cost for one box is about $125. My bed cover locks so I do not have a lock on the top of this box. This was a first trial prototype. The next box will be built better. The box will hold a lot more gear than I would have thought. This is a 2020 crew cab short bed Chevy Colorado. #trucktoolbox #DIY #howtobuild

Really great idea! Nicest build I've seen based on EMT. Welding is great but sometimes riveting is easier and good enough to get the job done. I'm toying with the idea of building one that omitts the outside wall and sealing it to the truck bed somehow weather-tight. Mainly just want a place to keep my chainsaw and fuel locked and dry.
love it cause you can still fit full sheets of plywood
Thanks for watching.
Good idea. Darlington, South Carolina
Great work 👍
Thanks for watching
Excellent way without use of a welder. There are alternative's
You realize flashing can be pictured with a knife or screwdriver?? It’s very flimsy I like how you did everything except would prefer a second outer shell and a lock
Thanks for your input. Yep, flashing can be punctured, and molded plastic can be damaged too. My 2 boxes that I made and, in my truck, have lasted over 20,000 miles so far. That includes some serious off-road trails. Both boxes are fully loaded, and nothing has failed yet. I have a locking bed cover so no need for locks on the boxes, but I do like the idea. I will have to make a follow up video about the boxes soon.
