  • Despite her desire to repent, Carissa repeatedly fell victim to her addiction. Each time she messed up, she said she felt it set her back to the beginning of her repentance.
“Why would I feel this way if God really loved me?” she asked herself.
She earnestly desired to change. She sought the support of others. In time, she came to understand the mercy of God’s grace to forgive her as she sought to conquer her pornography addiction. “I learned there was no cap on the number of times the Savior forgives,” she said.
God’s purposes are to help His children grow from experience, which can be frustrating and may seem pointless at times. He didn’t remove the trial, yet, as Carissa learned, He continually shares His love and the abundance of His Grace as we earnestly strive for righteous desires.

...this has been my experience, almost word for word. I think Heavenly Father answered my prayer differently today by sending me here to listen to your testimony. I've never been able to fully put into words the way that I feel about forgiveness when it applies to me, and you put it perfectly. There's no different level of forgiveness for different sins, there is only forgiveness and a loving God and a merciful Savior. Thank you💛

I too have been suffering from this problem for a long time, and by hearing this gives me the courage to seek help from my bishop and sincerely confess to my parents this issue in my life. I was almost finished reading the Book of Mormon last night and was seeking answers in overcoming this obstacle and when that's when I read in Moroni that the God's gifts manifests in different ways and one of them includes the healing power of the Spirit of God. When I read that part in the scripture I was overcome with the warmth of the Savior, reassuring me that I was still His child and that He has never left me nor loved me any less than before. And with that reassurance, I asked for forgiveness and promised to actively repent for my mistakes. Thank you sister for sharing your beautiful testimony as it gave me strength and comfort to face my challenges!! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm glad they showed a woman for this video. We just had a missionary couple who did a presentation on pornography and that was one of the points of it, "it's not only a problem for men". It is a problem for everyone. It harms everyone.
I used to attend the church's addiction recovery group, and there are meetings for general addictions, which is pretty much anything you can think of, and then there are SPECIFIC pornography addiction groups. It has become a huge problem. I have encouraged people who may not feel like they struggle with this to attend meetings or at the very least read through the addiction recovery manual (a wonderful book for anyone, both member and nonmember, those who struggle, and those who may not feel like they do.
Do not wait until the enemy is at your gates to put up your defenses. We live in a time when this is all around us. It feels like we are running a marathon in all white clothes through a mudslide daily. Just remember to wash those clothes daily. Do those things that will protect you and your loved ones.
Take care all. The fight is here, now.

Pornography is such a horrific addiction, shredding souls until they feel worth less than a pile of dust. But if there's anything I've learned, it's that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father will never give up on any of us. While I still struggle with the remnants of that addiction, I know he's always there to pick me up when I fall, and strengthen me when I can't go on. Sometimes, all I can do is cry out to Him, but that alone is enough for Him to come running with His army of angels. And should you be wounded, He will heal you, defend you, and fight alongside you.

Hi @Big Bubba, thanks for the opportunity to clarify our beliefs. Mormons or LDS Church members, properly referred to as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are Christian. We believe Jesus Christ is our Savior, we revere the Bible as the word of God, and we believe the Book of Mormon to be another testament of Jesus Christ. I think it's important to call something a "habit" and be careful about calling it an "addiction." Addictions are when daily activities are interrupted by the negative behavior, and the negative behavior is all they think about. Habits are things that are hard to break (for example, I almost never go to bed early enough, even when I want to and know that I will regret going to bed so late, and I've done that since I was a teenager). That being said, I'm so glad Carissa is getting help and is healing.

When people work towards a good thing, we cheer each small step. When a runner shaves a few seconds off their time, or clears a hurdle without knocking it over, even if they don't win a medal, we celebrate. Then, when people work to escape an evil thing, we seem only to be able to see when they stumble and fall, especially when that person is us. We need to see repentance and improvement in all aspects the same way- baby steps. Like a loving earthly father, our Heavenly Father celebrates every step His children make even WHEN they stumble and trip. As CS Lewis wrote, "He wants them to learn to walk and must therefore take away His hand; and if only the will to walk is really there He is pleased even with their stumbles.” This is His grace, to celebrate every baby step we make, not because we crossed the room without His help, but because we're headed toward Him.

Last night I felt ill, so rundown and so devoid of spirit that I couldn't even sleep properly. I awoke this morning and thought to myself "hey you know what? How about you pray on this?" and so I got my Book of Mormon from my drawer and began praying to our Heavenly Father. Right now I feel elated, my mind is controlled again and I'm starting to begin to recharge my inner battery, my love for the world increasing as well as my want to keep spreading the good word. I pray we all can have a similar testimony, come closer to the Church, and through it's message and teachings, draw closer to our Heavenly Father.

Honestly I pass through the same thing.
I remember all of it, but I remember it in a way of a progress, a big progress that I had made in my life and a challenge that I have overcome, and I stand up stronger than I was before.
I was little when I start seeing it, but I didn't really know that I was seeing pornography. When I felt that I needed to tell my mother I did and she and my father help me to don't see it again.
Years past and the tempation came again, like two years ago, and since then I didn't have the strength to overcome it. I didn't tell my parents, not because I would be ashamed, I didn't because I know they're going to be angry at me and I don't want to hear them telling me things I don't want to hear, so I did it by my own, and in my prayers I want to keep it between Heavenly Father and I.
Time past and as Sister Ko, I had pass through the same temptations, but in the beginning of this year, I really want to change, so I pray to Heavenly Father. It was the first time I pray sincerely to Heavenly Father. I recall that that when I pray I feel the words that I was saying in my mind, and I let my heart speak the desire I had to change. Since then, the temptations came the same way they did before, but now, I have a lot more strength that I have before, and now is easy to overcome each temptation.
I know that with the help of the Savior I could overcome the temptation, but I know I have to raise my guard and be ready if a temptation come, so I won't be caught week and fell into it.
I can testify that no matter how many times we messed up, God and the Savior are patient and are waiting for us to be ready to be change; that take me a lot of time to realize, but once I did, I start to focus in what can I do to really change.

This is an awful struggle to bear, I know from experience. It seems like you get a hold on it and then you fall again. The key is to get back up, brush yourself off, and put your faith in the Lord. He knew you would have these problems in life and that is why he provided a way back. Just keep trying and ask the Lord for strength and his will give it to you. We all have weaknesses but with the Savior's help, they can become strengths. Kudos to this young woman for sharing her experience, shame is the adversary's way and hope is the Lord's. Keep fighting everyone.

We live in a world where the desires of the body and mind come first. It takes time, practice, and constant reliance on the spirit to change this. To anyone who thinks they are not worthy because they keep failing when trying to improve, or they are in a situation they feel they can't get out of, let me just say *You are not a failure* *Don't believe the voices that keep you chained to the addictions of the body and mind* While you may not be able to overcome the challenges right now, what you can do is put yourself in an environment where you can constantly hear the spirit speak to you. That is something you can control.

You're experience is almost exactly word for word like mine. I thought I could do this on my own, I needed to do this on my own. I was the one who messed up, so I was the one who needed to clean up. I would fail miserably. Father loves me so much, He doesn't want me to be on my own. He will be there with me & for me.

Sister, our Lord is my witness I have gone through similar experience that u have. And truly my heart confesses his love is greater than my sins and only by the mercy and love of our saviour Jesus Christ, I can say unto this world that I am still counted righteous in the sight of our God only and only due the holy blood of Jesus Christ that he shed for my sins. Amen 🙏

I Believe that the Lord will allow the Trials to help us gain knowledge & wisdom, so as we can "HELP" others struggling with the same issues!
*God will always be there watching over us with his Son Jesus Christ @ our side, so we are not walking alone through our struggling journey of life, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen 😇🕊🛐🙏🙏🙏💯

Amen girlfriend!! Girl, you are truly amazing and straight-up grateful for your bravery to come out in full view of what you have been struggling to deal with. You just made sense for me and I felt the spirit confirm to me whilst watching this video, that I am not perfect myself and no matter how many times I fall and make the many mistakes in my life, we can always turn to the Lord for forgiveness. God bless you xx

Sister Ko, thank you for sharing your challenge with me this morning. It is true, it is not only a mans problem. It does bring hope to many of us who feel that there is no hope after trying so many times to repent. God Bless you Sister Ko on your journey to stay free of your weakness..

We're all not perfect because we all make mistakes, but that should never stop us from learning and doing what's right. Change is a choice. When we change our lives into being like the Savior, we're on Jesus Christ's path towards heaven, which is a place of eternal happiness, comfort, and joy. However, if we turn our lives towards uncleanliness and darkness, we are on Satan's path towards hell, which is a place of eternal misery and loneliness, unless we repent.

So much emphasis is placed on how bad pornography is, it's hard to think it can happen to good people.
Our desires are what make us good people.

Unfortunately, I think something that makes this struggle harder is the fact that many Christians make any mention of sex taboo. This shames people into silence instead of helping them reach out.
Pulling your child out of sex education because you're afraid they might learn about a perfectly normal part of adulthood leaves the responsibility on society and curiosity-not a good mix. I think teaching healthy sexuality would go a long way.
