Black HPD wheel upgrade for the Honda Ridgeline

- These wheels I've had my eye on for a long time... the tires not so much. Come along as I go through the differences between the Falken Wildpeak AT3w and the BFGoodrich KO2 as well as comparing the OEM Honda Ridgeline wheel vs the HPD wheel.
One difference that's notable, the OEM wheel is made in Mexico. The HPD wheel is made by Enkei in Japan, and I would suspect part of the reason for the substantial delay.... but well worth it!
Wheels: HPD Black Ridgeline Wheels
Tires: BFGoodrich KO2's - 265/60-18
The truck and both set of wheels are great. Also love those dogs and that bear plate. All and all a great package. All bad donkey.
Thanks
I do not care for the bronze at all. But your HPD black wheels look super-sharp!!
Thanks! Yah I’m in the same boat
Hi, when you put the 1.5 inch risers, did you have to do somethin with the head ligths??
I did, because any weight in the bed caused the front of the truck to blind oncoming traffic. Just a long Philips screw driver and adjust them down a few turns
I am looking to get 2023 Ridgeline or maybe waiting for 2024 (in case there is an exterior redesign). Curious if you lost any MPH after installing 1.5” front lift and also if anyone got a discount on HPD black rims purchase lately. Thank you for sharing your success story.
Oh yeah, about 4-5 MPG with the lift and AT tires
Those wheels & tires look good. I like the gold (bronze) wheels more. I'm afraid to price them. Is that 1.5" front-end lift a do-it-yourself project?
Nice! On my 2017 Honda Ridgeline I also put a leveling kit on the front with XD820 Grenade wheels and BF Goodrich Ko2 tires. It transformed the look of the truck!
Right on!
KO2’s look so much better than the wild peaks. And I have the wild peaks on my ridgeline. How did you fit the black edition emblem into the HPD grille? Did I miss that in another video?
Yeah from a looks perspective, I agree they do look better. Honestly I just set it there with some black silicone sealant until I figured out what I wanted to do with it.... 18 months later and numerous washboard roads later, it's still there, as strong as ever!
Did you have any rubbing with either one of these as they are a bigger size than oem? I'm getting ready to upgrade mine and leaning heavily towards the falken wildpeak at3w in size 265/60/18...I have a 2021 Ridgeline RTL-E with 1.5" inch truxx front level kit also
Some on full lock but it was minimal. Both sets did at different points but it was very light and would not inhibit me from doing this again, lifted or not
The KO2 are a softer tire, so you should expect to see faster wear on them, I used them on all of my trucks for a while then switched to Toyo AT3, much better tire.
I think the AT3 is a better all around tire as well but I’m surprised you feel the K02 is softer. My friends and myself included all feel the K02 sidewall is substantially stiffer than the AT3w allowing for less confidence in the wet weather over the AT3w which we see a lot of in Oregon
Yes - those wheels match the rack system and tires very well. Nice!
I think so too!
I like your truck. I have the exact same setup(tires/ wheels) on my 2019 Ridgeline. It took 5 months to get the wheels so I can relate but worth the wait.
I have the Jsport 1 1/2 leveling kit on mine.
Right on!
I just bought a 2023 Ridgeline RTL-E with HPD package and my black wheels do not have those silver dots (HPD wheels). The HPD wheels would have been nice. It's a better looking wheels. Oh well!
Unfortunately dealers are outfitting these with the Passport HPD wheels for some reason. I will say I waited forever for mine, so perhaps they are back ordered again
Red line with the Ridgeline
What's mpgs's looking like with this wheel/tire/lift kit setup?
Around 16 city and 22 highway
Nice Exactly what ridgelines need
I have these wheels too -- on my G1 Ridgeline ('09). They look fantastic on that body.
I got them the first week they came out 18 months ago. I'd seen them on the MMC promotional pics and they are the identical specs as my '09. I was at me local Honda dealer (Dick Hannah in Vancouver, WA) for an oil change and was chatting up the parts guy while I waited. He mentioned that he bought two sets the first day they'd come available and they had them in stock. Boom, on they went that day.
I love the satin finish. Just the right amount of sheen. That drilled/milled feature evoking bead locks makes all the difference. Otherwise, they're just black wheels. That's true of most all the manufacturers. Might as well put steelies on at that point. I do have the chrome lug nuts though from my original wheels. Isn't like $250 for a set of four black lug nuts?
I put new Firestone Destinations that are OEM on them. I believe they were specifically designed for the MMC Ridgeline. They have that aggressive faux shoulder on the tire but are actually just all season tires. Honestly, it's pretty darn clever. You get that tough off-road look but they are super quiet and comfortable on the highway.
Nice!! Yeah I ended up getting mine through Tonkin. I agree with how you see the wheels too. That drilled feature, visually, really makes all the difference
You have two different tire brands?
I’ve gone through quite a few
I might buy that HPD set one day they look really good , way better than the other ones , your truck looks Amazing by the way and it’s an inspiration for what I’m about to get, I’m trading in a 21 black sport trim for a 24 white trailsport and comes with the same wheels as the black edition but in silver/grey … not a fan of those wheels to be honest, I’m even trying and hoping for the dealer to let me keep the sport ones and switch install them for the ones on the new one instead.
Don’t understand why a Black Edition is anything other than black. Nissan did the same with the Frontier Midnight Edition.🤦🏽♂️
With the 265’s, do you need to program the computer for different size tires? Thx.
I have issues with my daytime running lights. Won't come on 2023 RTL any videos?
I like the HPD
R u running any wheel spacers?
Nope, no wheel spacers
Hi there! Love the Contant… I was wondering do you know if that exact tire and wheel combo for HPD wheels and KO twos will work on a 2017 RTL? Thanks for your response.
I assume you have sold the other wheels? If not I am in western NY and would be interested. Also what suspension are you running?
They are sold now. I had a jsport lift on the OEM suspension
Looks great! I can smell the new rubber through UA-cam 😝 I get the Falkens usually as well.
Hello sir, just traded in my 2021 Black Ridgeline sports HPD package for 2023 Black edition pearl white. how do you install the hpd grill on black edition? do I need to remove the bumper? Thank you in advance.
I had the grill installed so I don’t have any DIY knowledge of it
I have a white Ridgeline and a white S2k as well. We have the same taste.
Good deal...much better!
I have a first gen Ridgeline....with stock whls....BUT...I LOVE your German Shorthairs! I've had several. 1st dog I ever had in 1952 was a German Shorthair named "Lady"! Good looking dogs for sure!
That is awesome!
THIS, is the nicest Ridgeline I’ve seen yet. Great work sir! I’m currently very motivated to get one myself. Hopefully sooner than later. Seriously, she’s a looker 👀
Right on!
Good looking truck!
Thanks 👍
can you name the rear seat covers that you have in your truck with your dog chilling on them? Where can I purchase? Your truck is so strikingly bad azz. Wow!
Thanks!! The rear seat cover was purchased at Costco for about $25. I don’t remember the brand unfortunately
Wow, looks outstanding. Had been looking at Tacomas but this Ridgeline has impressed me. The stock B.E. Wheels =meh…Wondered if Type-R civic wheels fit (I don’t much off-road) but your rig looks perfect
Thanks! Yes CTR wheels will fit. A few owners have put them on
Really like it, clean, looks nice.
Looks good. I've been thinking about getting the Ridgeline as well. 👍
I love it!
Does the level kit drop mpg at all? Thinking about getting the kit for my '21 HPD.
Asbolutely! lol. I'd imagine the MPG drop is about 3-4mpg for the lift alone, adding AT tires decreases the MPG further
Do have any rubbing with ko2 with 265/60/18 at full turn
Yeah there is some slight rubbing when reversing and full lock to the right, but that's all. It's minimal
No lift on it? I have the 2021
Hpd with bronze wheels.. now I know what tire to buy :) tnx
Nice. Yes it has a 1.5” level kit
Nice, I have a 23’ rel, going to start upgrades soon
\
Nice 👍
size 18 is too big for your application, no meat on the tires when aired down, i have a 17 inch with 265/70/17
The wildpeaks seemed to do just fine when I would air them down
Hi. Can fit 25 off set with 9 inch wide rims. 18/9 - 25 offset
I do not know
I don’t know why my 22 hpd black edition didn’t come with those wheel 🛞 they look nice
Sadly, it appears most dealers are putting the Black HPD Passport wheels on the HPD Ridgeline's, I'm not sure why
Where are you buying the hpd alloys for the pilot?
Tonkin Gresham Honda in Portland had a set for a great price
Looks great! Did you sell the black 5 spoke wheels?
Yes I did
Leveling kit mess up the drivetrains geometry?
No
What size KO2? And what level kit?
165/60 18 and JSport USA's kit! Also, I do have a discount code - 503PDX will save 15% off anything at JSport's website :)
Do you need to use hub rings for the HPD wheels?
Nope
oh yeah nice
Do you have parts list anywhere?
Most of the videos have parts numbers associated with them. Was there anything in particular you were looking for? I no longer have this vehicle so some things might be hard to track down.
Hi there! Thanks for all the cool content! I was wondering can you run those HPD wheels and KO twos on a 2017 ridgeline? Thanks a lot for the replies.
Yes you can!
@@503pdxCars thank you friend! Trucks leveler kit went in two days ago. It’s at the dealership today getting HPD wheels and BF Goodrich 265’s today!
@@503pdxCars the new setup turned out great… 1.5 Truxx level, Black 18 HPD wheels, and 265 BF Goodrich All Terrain TAs
awesome. what mat do you use for your doggo?
It’s just a generic hammock that Costco had in stock :)
How’s the road noise compared to wildpeak?
It's louder, and they're heavier... so it's not as "nimble" as a lifted Ridgeline with AT tires can be haha
@@503pdxCars I will be buying the falken on my next set. I currently have the ko2s and yeah they’re pretty heavy and loud haha. Did you notice if the rear tires sticking out more on one side? The right rear on my 2022 sports for some reason sticks out more. I bought it brand new in March and only been pavement princess the whole time. Haha
Wheels and tires are a great up grade
For sure!
What size is the tire?
265/60 18
Looks Good!
Thanks!
Looks sick
Thanks!
Nice
Thanks
I wonder if those BFGoodrich KO2's - 265/60-18 will rub without the lift ? And how do you like em ?
They are really heavy... other than that, they've done well off-roading, I'm entering my first winter with them and hoping they do great!
@@503pdxCars I decided to buy wildpeak because I red wp are way better on wet 🤷♂️. I also red no rub on wp but my rub little bit backing up turning left only. And my mpg went significantly down lol
