The most impressive thing about quintet is that it has managed to trick people into thinking it's not just a standard BJJ tournament with a very slight twist. Although I admit I'm also impressed at the courage of Sambo and Judo players who are still willing to take on Jiu-jitsu players in a ruleset which favours one team so heavily.

Yeah that Craig one was bad. The guy has his legs totally immobilized. Just dumb not to tap I’ll try to escape if u got my one leg but if u trap both my legs I can’t use the free one ti roll or push into your taint or strip your crib. May as well tap its inevitable you get hurt with both legs trapped if you are a hero

I have to say that straight up BJJ tournaments are becoming really boring, especially no-gi, because everyone just butt-scoots towards their opponent and goes for leg-locks 90% of the time. The takedown is rendered pointless because there's no ground and pound threat associated with the bottom position. On the other hand the new combat BJJ tournaments I've seen have been really good to watch. The threat of palm strikes creates much more variation in terms of subs, so I hope it takes off.

High level BJJ tends to be super boring for me because guys are usually really cautious, and I get it but I simply don't enjoy watching it. Lower level grapplers tend to go for it and that's much more fun to watch.

I posted another reply that is now lost in comments list. Here: Biased matchup in terms of competitor backgrounds. This is basically BJJ vs MMA... Here is why.
Let’s look at the competitor backgrounds and achievements.
Craig Jones - Grappling superstar. Lost in 2017 ADCC World Cup Semis to Alexandre Ribeiro… What an amateur! SARCASM
Marcin Held - Trains BJJ since 9 years old, won IBJJF and ADCC National and European Titles.
      Cool.
Who are the guys from Lithuania?
Actually, all 4 are active MMA fighters with 3 of them having background in Judo and competition experience limited to Combat Sambo (i.e. MMA...)
      Viktor Tomasević - MMA…
      www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/21126-viktor-tomasevic-bandito
9 wins, 15 losses. Great pick by the organizers.
      No grappling tournaments on record
      Mindaugas Verzbicka - MMA...
      www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/33125-mindaugas-verzbickas
      No grappling tournaments on record.
      Teodoras Aukstuolis - MMA…
      www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/56817-teodoras-aukstuolis
Trains out of a Judo club. No grappling tournaments on record. Awesome.
      Sergej Grecicho - MMA...
      www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/13775-sergej-grecicho
The most acclaimed of the 4 fighters. Won 3 Combat Sambo titles.
He also weighs < 70 kg and is the guy who Craig Jones (90kg) could not submit.
Again, "great" job by the organizers.. Maybe next time they can pick athletes who actually represent a grappling art (Sports SAMBO would do just fine...) if they want them to fight pure grapplers.

@@rodrigoribeiromichalzechen5091 In this case in Team Sambo are people from Baltic republics where sambo isn't a massive sport. In Russia is it. And no one good fighter ( Sergey Grechixo who lost all his fights in russian promotions is probably the only fighter who people know) in these team. Boy, you was look a shitty competition where in one side are good fighters ( team Solaris) and in the other no. And you think is enought to say Bjj is better than Sambo just for watching that?
