Not sure if you being serious or not. BJJ root is literally from Judo ground work. Judo actually has a special branch that focuses on ground called Kosen Judo. They are beast vs BJJ
I train Judo and it only took a little bit of wrestling practice to modify the GI techniques to work. There's also a lot of throws in Judo that ignore the GI entirely
Ehh I don’t think as much as one may think. Unless if the wrestlers have some type of submission grappling experience. Chael sonnen has talked about it on the joe rogan podcast, he said bjj is a wrestlers kryptonite. Wrestlers are known for not being good on there back, and get to focused on transitions and end up getting submitted. Really it depends which wrestlers I suppose but I personally think the bjj guys would win 7/10. I would rather see judo vs wrestling
@@austinrousee6729 I agree with you buddy... Well how about Catch Wrestling and JiuJitsu? According to the History a beef spikes between Catch and JJ back then!
I practice both, i love both, and i don't neglect the roots of bjj, they are judo roots, Kano Ju Jutsu or Kano Judo roots, bjj and judo are meant to be together, for all people talking about no gi Judo, the no gi part of bjj was the thing that most help me in the transition at the beginning, and even know i found very useful and efficient my judo on bjj.
Judo all the way. I like BJJ but Judo was the first martial arts I practice and is closer to my heart. Judo submissions are even more effective against opponents wearing say a jacket. Respect Judo.

I fucking hate Palhares for obvious moral reasons on holding the submissions for too long.... but he would crush it in this league. Literally crush every 🦵 knee and joint.
To act like this is not 2-2 is ridiculous. Ishii man-handled that guy. The idea that slamming someone into the mat and pinning them down the entire time being worth nothing; That's a pretty stupid concept/rule. These Judokas are competing in a rule set that specifically caters to bjj guys. The Judokas could have pinned and immobilized almost every one of the bjj guys, but they didn't attempt to because pinning isn't allowed or rewarded. I've seen a ton of Judokas compete in Nogi Jiu Jitsu, but not too many bjj guys ever compete in Judo Tournaments. They wouldn't do well.
The score was 2 to 1. They should have fought the final round to see if it would have ended as a tie and then declare the winner. The rules were kind of lame in that matter. However, this is waaayyy more interesting to watch then normal bjj...good job Sakuraba
The lack of gi is a disadvantage, but the overall rule set is also in favor of BJJ and catch wrestling. This is Judoka competing in what is a no-gi sub-only BJJ tournament.
I trained with and without a gi on and off for 25 years. I can get the same control and give the same education with rash guards, gi, clothing, hair, beard.........grab it and get it.
6:10 I'm perplexed by the lack of answers to a choke from guard from Tokoro, I I always hear they are easy to defend, and the guy has wins over big names like Royler Gracie. Is there something I don't see here ? And what were the best defensive options from him once the choke was established ?
I was thinking the same thing. But on the replay they showed him doing the defense I'd have thought was correct, which was elevating his hips... I think it came down to size difference, and the fact that he couldn't get his right arm between him and the guy's neck. I'm guessing this guy gets this choke (ezekiel) all the time. Curious to hear what other people think he should have done.
So the bottomline: Only 1 Judoka won because of his considerable weight advantage & the Olympic heavyweight Judo champion could not beat someone 20 kgs lighter and exhausted than him.
