I just want to find an excuse for them to add crucible incantations, I really want that wing attack that Crucible knights do. I've been binging tarnished archaeologist recently, I'm not so sure the crucible was a tree at all From certain descriptions and the statues in roundtable hold, it seems as though the crucible is a collection of new potential trees growing from the trunk and roots of a burned down prior greattree, the erdtree being the one to win out over others, hence why the chimera misbegotten once thought blessed by the gods are shunned by the golden order It's possible tho, since this seems to show competing trees, and this could be an early marika, we could be getting a prequel showing the beginning of the erdtree empire, possibly even the giant/liurnian wars and the lead up to the shattering Personally I'd love to actually see the night of black knives, only way to know what's in store is to play it on release!

One thing I would like to point out is just speculative, so a sea of salt here: if that spectral steed is indeed Torrent, there is possibility that the third sister that gives The Three Sisters location its namesake is St Trina. It's been long speculated that Renna could be Melina's alter ego, so everyone who truly knows Torrent (Melina as Renna, who gives us the whistle, Ranni who gives us the spirit caller bell entrusted to her by Torrent's former master, and Miquella as St. Trina, possibly Torrent's former master herself) could be linked to that location. And I don't it's too big a stretch to consider that Miquella, as St. Trina, might have received some education/tutelage from the Carians. At first they were, after all, a fundamentalist of the Golden Order, which at the end seems to require a lot of insight from the natural world, as represented by the knowledge that surely the Carians could provide. Now, another small parallel, and I just thought of it and do not know what to make of this, but Miquella is clearly no stranger to the concept of Rebirth, and if they were indeed partly educated by the Carians, even if it were long before Raya Lucaria sank and rebelled, it's reasonable to think he knew about Rennala's Rune of Rebirth, since it was bequeathed to her by their own father.

First of all, i love the Ancestral Spirit theme so excellent choice of music! I totally believe the one in the teaser is Miquella, there is a place you haven't reached yet and at the very beginning of that "dungeon" you can see a statue of Miquella / St.Trina, and if you look near the statue you can see some vases containing weeds that looks very similar to the ones in the teaser. Given the history of past fromsoft games dlcs i would imagine this to be an endgame dlc, so it would make sense for a world changing event like Godwyn "tree" corrupting the erdtree etc, but i have a feeling it will not be the case and you access the dlc by entering "in a dream", either from Godwyn corpse or another place, like in Dark Souls 3 when you touch Filianore's Egg It's interesting you brought up egyptian mythology cuz i was thinking something similar regarding Miquella and the dream / world of the dead ( as there are tombs etc ) I was thinking about Campi Elisi ( Elysium Fields ) from greek / roman mythology, as they are often portrayed with a field very similar to the teaser one, still the meaning would be the same as egyptian, regarding afterlife. As for when the dlc takes place i hope it's not the past, but current events, and once completing it Godwyn corpse will finally disappear and he will be able to be at peace / have a true death. So now i am wondering... if someone where to defeat Malenia AFTER completing the dlc, would she have different dialogues? Since we met Miquella and all.. probably not, but it would be a nice touch! Ahhh i can't wait! Fromsoft's dlcs tend to elevate the game to greater heights, especially Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne... Elden Ring is already amazing and with this it will be colossal!
The Ancestral Spirit is one of my favorite themes AND bosses. It's a gorgeous track. I'm excited to get to the place you mentioned with more information on Miquella! (I'm guessing it's related to the Haligtree.) You know, I didn't even think of Elysium, but that's an excellent point. And I DID think about what would happen if we completed the DLC, then fought Malenia. I know Sif had a slightly different cutscene if we defeated Artorias first, so it would be amazing if From Software did something similar for Shadow of the Erdtree.
My best guess is this is the form of the erdtree in the spirit/dream realm, where the corruption of godwyn has symbolically/magically choked out the erdtree, draining it of its remaining abundance If the erdtree, as tarnished archeologist has speculated, is only the latest tree that has grown from ancient greattree roots, a golden graft, this could be a new tree in a land between life and death grown from godwyn's corrupted roots
It would be intriguing if that ends up being the case! From Software has a wonderful way of showing us details we didn't see before in dream realms and painted worlds.

Having the DLC take place in the past is an amazing point I completely missed. Artorias of the Abyss took place in the past too, so it makes sense!
