TheMagicManSam i dont know if it wasnt creatively satisfying for you bit i miss curving out
where do you get all the art in good quality is there a specific website?
At 4:33 what is the title of the book?
I've studied illjustration for 3 years and Fine Arts for 4, and I wish I could have know about this videos by then, because this tramples every art history or art theory lesson I've had in those combined 7 years. Congratulations for this quality content, and thank you so much.
Well... I think the thing is about studying art is that the REALLY skilled artists hardly ever teach. You have lots of these types of artists that went like 30% of the way and got good enough to impress the universities and schools, therefore getting jobs as teachers and instructors.
art lecturers (university level) are required to be practicing artists with their own research/exhibition schedules. Besides, it's possible to be a great artist and not want to live your life on a commission basis and want a salary. =)
Ancient aliens
it's because he is providing easy answers and interpretations instead of teaching you to do the same.
Hold on, are you David Bibián?
You overlooked a massively fun detail:
That the model for Liliana Vess is Karl Kopinski's wife!
I'd love to know how she feels about that
Good, she should feel very good!👍🏾
Proud
Wow this dude is amazing
This was a really cool video. Art, history, and magic. Very well put together. The editing style is really cool. The way you transition through the art is really creative. As an editing junkie I absolutely love this video. This is really good stuff man.
I can't believe I'd never recognised that he was the same guy that did some of my favourite Warhammer art.
Me too but I the reverse I knew him from WH and never realised he did that Liliana piece. He also did Zombicide.
WOW that's really what makes you one of the best creators in the whole community, the in depth analysis of art I'd otherwise view as good makes it great and gives a more personal feel to each card once you know the artist. Great content keep it up :D
this is exactly the goal! thank you.
No problem keep up the good work
@javier pessina who tf are you? xD make your own videos then
Karl Kopinski is one of my favorite artists of all time (especially his drawings). Thank you for taking the time to take a deep dive into his work and sharing it among the masses!
I don't know if you take requests, but hopefully we'll get to see Jaime Jones, Wesley Burt, Peter Mohrbacher, or even Allen Williams sometime in the future!
Even then, there's still many, many great mtg artists and it would take forever to get to all of them.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
I'm glad you enjoyed! and you're right: it may take a few years to knock out all the big names, and even after that, a hundred will be left to cover.
this whole series is probably the most quality MTG content on UA-cam. Such a pleasure to watch, it highlights one of my personal favorite aspects of the game. keep up the grand work, Sam!
opening my eyes every time I watch your insider vids.
These artist videos are some of the best I've seen. Fantastic, well done.
Man your channel is quickly becoming one of my favourites.
Damn you shine such a beautiful light in these arts! I'm thankful for that. Keep up this good work!
Such an amazing analysis! I absolutely love this series.
Damn - this is great! These artist spotlights make me appreciate the art of this game so much more. Keep them up!!!
So well done. Very happy we have someone to guide us through the amazing art in our game.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam in a while! So awesome!
Amazing series. I've watched all of the episodes several times and learned alot. As an aspiring artist myself, the analysis you do in this videos is an inspiration in and on itself. Excelent job and thank you very much for doing it.
This series makes me pay a lot more attention to the art of the cards and game I love. Thanks for doing what you do Sam.
Such a fabulous portfolio. I can not believe was so much depth to the cards i loved so much
I am always excited to see these videos in my feed. I wish I could get a new one daily! But if that was the case we'd lose the quality and spirit in these videos that I love.
yep. "art takes time," as they say.
Love this series, really hope there is more to come!
most definitely.
Stunning. Thank you for this video. Kopinski's work is just amazing.
Damn, I was wondering where I had seen his face so clearly before. Turns out it was in the art of Ultimate Price! Great video Sam!
Just finished watching all of this artist spotlight series (i think) and it's been amazing. The flow is perfect and certainly feel like I've learnt quite a lot about art in general. Magic art is beautiful and these are a very talented bunch of people we have creating it for us. Thanks for highlighting them and their work.
Your observations are fascinating to listen to. Great insight!
Dude, this series is really great. Thank you.
This video was awesome. Your breakdown of Karl’s work was spot on and insightful. I’m excited to check out more of your content!
This video is an instant favorite. Thank you so very much for making it, and about one of my favorite artists.
:)
beautiful, I'm falling more in love with your content. It really highlights what I love about magic, it's the worlds and the flavour... not just how expensive your deck is.
Really love these videos. I like magic for it's strategy and from the perspective of a game, but what truly makes me love it is the world-building. The lore, the flavor text, and the top notch artwork has a place close to my heart.
ok this channel is absurdly good. Thanks for this amazing stuff.
so glad i've found an art channel that provides some critical analysis of some art. My first video of yours that iv'e watched, but hopefully more to come!
Mardu Heartpiercer is exactly the piece that got me looking into Karl's art, and I loved it.
I got a foil version of it for none other reason then simply to collect it. Of all the artwork in KTK, I love mardu heart piercer the most, maybe the entire block of tarkir...
The Duke of Wellington isn't just depicted in a cloak, he actually wore that cloak during the battle. Both commanders could be recognised on the field because of their distinct clothing styles.
Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant video from a fantastic series :)
Always a great day when I see your videos up, my man! You continue to be a huge inspiration to me.
so great to hear that. thank you!
Never heard waterloo described as a skirmish haha
Excellent video. Love Kopinski's work 👍
You should just make a series like this about artists you love. Not just magic artists but those you just truly find amazing, I think it’ll help the artist and the people get inform cause god damn you’re good with drawing people in
Sam, your videos are fantastic!!! Keep up the good (or amazing) work!
Those are some of my favorite warhammer pieces, it's super cool to learn of his other work
Another great video! Well done!
Awesome video! I recently built a Krenko EDH deck and am loving it! Now I can admire the art from a deeper perspective
one of my fave artists. Period. Since his work on Games workshop stuff I;ve been following him - I love his style
Love these! Excited for Paolo Parente, Daren Bader and rk post. Keep up the great work.
So glad I've discovered you. Great video!
This was surprisingly pleasant. Thank you! :)
I'm glad you were pleasantly surprised.
another amazing work. you definitely found a niche and you are great at it.
your videos are great! hope to see a next one soon
Such a great video. Thank you
The way you show us Magic: the Gathering art is art itself. Awesome content as always.
This took me completely by surprise, as I actually have 40k artwork by Kopinski hanging in my apartment but was unaware of the artist! Thank you so much for these artist focus videos- please keep them coming!
Amazing series!
Awesome video! Keep up the good work!
you know, Sam, I gotta say, I am REALLY loving your videos as of late! Keep up the amazing work!
nice. thanks!
Amazing work Sam. Karl is my favourite magic artist, met him at GP London and he couldn't be a nicer guy.
@4:57 Articulated beautifully ! I appreciate the depth thanks for sharing .
Amazing and informative as always. Absolutely love this series. If you haven't seen them all, definitely go back and watch them or if you have, rewatch them.
high five, Drew.
Just found this vid
And i ll do
I'm still pretty new to MtG but I loved the art for Rabid Bite so much that I looked up the artist's name. I'm glad I did, all that art was gorgeous.
I love your videos. I was drawn in to MTG for the incredible art, and your content has truly enhanced my appreciation for this work...I learn something new with every video. Thank you.
Notification Squad!
Dope video man, love your content
Great one, nice video essay
To date your content is the only mtg content I watch more than one time ... on purpose. I have learned a lot about art from your coverage.Thank you, so much.
Fascinating, glad I stumbled across this.
Beautiful video👏👏
Haven't played MTG in years. Still subbed for the relaxing voice and trip down memory lane. Quite a talented orator.
Sam, you are by far my favorite youtube channel. Keep up the awesome work!
thanks a lot! I'm glad you're digging my work.
Please keep up the good work. There is so much more to MTG other than the competitive play and secondary market. Your videos allow us to appreciate each and every card better.
My only complain is that you need to churn out more vids!
awesome work thank you
Great video mate
fantastic!! I Will donate on patreon over the Next month. You do a great work with your videos and you deserve it
awesome, thank you!
Always excellent.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and I subscribed. I think today is the first time I have seen your channel. And I look forward to watching more!
Great video!
wow, thanks for letting me know about this
Awesome video!!!
Nicely articulated
I had been underestimating him...the video proves what he's got...his works are marvelous.
Excellent analysis
I love Karl's work. One of my favorite pieces is one of Austrian soldiers marching into battle during the Napoleonic wars.
One of my favorites little touches in kopenskis work is on krenko mob boss. If you follow the direction his finger is pointing, you realize he's pointing at the artists signature at the bottom of the piece!
i love these!!! thank you :)
Just found this and is awesome!
great video!!!
Oh shoot, I've followed this guy on instagram for years and didn't know there was a Rhystic Studies video about him! I absolutely love his line work, and his artistic output is absolutely insane, one of my favorite artists
he is such an inspiration. i began to draw in a similar style, but of course not as good, but he is still really inspiring!
I love this so much
6:35
Hey the Ottomans and the Mongols were totally different empires.
Love this video
I love this!
Loved the video
I Love the work of Kopinski... since my GW days.
Fantastic!!
This is a fantastic series. Possibly the most intelligent series about anything Magic related on UA-cam to date.
Sam! Brilliant presentation and analysis! Presentations like these make you really appreciate the art within MTG. Some of us don't really give the art a second look as we don't know what to look for. However, now at least I can look at a Karl Kopinski piece and really appreciate it. Thank you!
awesome. this is great to hear! thank you.
I really like these artist studies, I recognise his artwork, I heard his name interesting to know more about Karl Kopinski. His work is stunning!
Nice work Carl!
im using his drawing as a guide i really did learn alot such as making a great pose for a chqracter drawing.
Can't wait to see your video about Rebecca Guay!
