When your notification of a new vid comes through I don't look anymore... I savour the moment until I have a cuppa, reclining chair (and maybe a bicky) , it is just pure entertainment of the highest quality.
The bottle is a common blacking ink, found on tips from 1880-1920, Skey (George I think) was a manufacturer from Tamworth (originally my home town).
I get loads of those clasps with different designs on, would love to know what they are off.
Would also be very interested to know what you use to edit/produce your vids, they are just too damn good. Already looking forward to the next 👍

Hi mate, wow very humbled reading comments like this 😁 Sounds an ideal setting for some metal detecting youtube videos. We move house soon amd I've already invested in a chair where I too will be able to sit in comfort and edit my videos instead of the god awful table at Sarahs 🤣
Had no idea the bottle was that old! Its cool real thick pottery, will find a use for it somewhere.
As for editing I use FilmoraX, I have to pay for it unfortunately but its only about $50 a year. I intend on buying a lifetime pass as I really really like it.

I’ll be detecting in Newcastle Upon Tyne area this mid March! Been debating bringing my apex or the ctx from the US. Extra cost bringing the ctx on the plane but apex fits in carry on. Got a 4 acre pasture permission with a 1650s cottage on it. I’m so excited.

Ayup, whats with the rebrand pal? The apex didnt blow me away but then its an unknown machine to me. I've still never owned a minelab, perhaps my next machine 🤣
Ayup mate, not really a rebrand, I don’t want people thinking I have a detecting channel so thought I’d have a change, took me ages to decide what to call it, not sure about the picture though, will probably end up changing it. I have a Minelab Wankwish that I won in a raffle, I’m sure it’s a decent machine but it just feels and sounds like a toy to me. I prefer my Simplex which I think is a cracking bit of kit for the money.

Just got one of those boxes turn up a my house. I went for the 8.5x11 Raider coil. Can't wait to get out with it.
Its a great coil, the apex is really growing on me. Not a fan of the tones at all though, its very rare you hear a nice sweet tone unless you hitting cartwheel pennies and huge silver coins

Tell you what Duke , if Garratt had paid for a top notch marketing company to do a vid to promote the Apex , it wouldnt hold a candle to this vid ! Production is always the dogs mate but how you interweaved a showcasing of a new machine with your usual flair and camera work was excellent . My missus actually said " well im not into actual detecting but if I was , I'd buy a Garratt after watching that " !!

It felt weird too 🤣 That permission is reknowned for being difficult at finding any silver. I keep going back because the land is old, the history is there and there just has to be hammereds somewhere. Ye gutted bout the crotal bell but never mind eh always next time 😁

Awsome video as always bud the Garrett apex is a good machine, digger dawn loves hers she uses it with the sniper coil same as yours bud. It’s got decent depth capability on it that Garrett but they all have. Still like my deus and the orx myself, but it’s good to try other machines bud. all the best to you and the family happy hunting.👍😊

Good man you will get used to it bud, not trying to tell you how to detect or eneything, but I always go both ways cris cross my sweeps, on targets it gives better audio response to know if it’s iron or not bud. but it usually jumps about a lot on the numbers and grunts to let you know unless it’s a deep ploughshare, all the best mate be lucky happy hunting.👍😊

Nice vid ! I reckon you need to stick a larger coil on that machine of yours for better coverage on those big fields you search.
Hi mate, yes the stock coil son the Apex are a little on the small side. I have since upgraded the coil. But since getting the Deus2 I have used the Apex very little

Hi Wayne, the apex is not waterproof, I know the simple is and so is the equinox - thats what I would choose the nox. I really enjoyed watching this video which I don't say very often, spent some serious time editing it. Hope you are well buddy

It is hard when the only brand you have used goes out of business. Believe it or not, I still love the XLT, that is why I have 3. The only complaint is that I carn’t hunt in rainy weather. Gotta admit though, I wasn’t sold on the MXSport either. 🤷
My middle son owns a Nox and a V3I. I may have to use his 800 a bit to see if I could adapt.

Seems you get on well with your new purchase and it still drags out the coins.Nice walk out ending too and the bells ringing was a nice touch.
I think once you are confident with several machines you can pick up any machine and start finding stuff. Its the deeper amd iffy signals that take a bit of work to figure out. Enjoy this machine though and it looks great

I watched an old episode of Time Team yesterday. Yeah, an addict here. Dad was a history buff and teacher so he instilled love of history in me. Anyway, they had an episode in the Peak district of Derbyshire. I prefer your Dales.

That bottle you found is made in my home town of Tamworth not too far from you. It’s an ink bottle I believe made by SKEY of wilnecote. Tamworth is towards Derby and Birmingham way is it now? As much as I love helping people out I would never take someone I did not know on one of my permissions, I did just that once and this person started helping himself to my permissions. I know its not easy getting permissions, its a case of not giving up amd keep on door knocking and popping the question

Good video ,looks like the Apex was getting some good depth on targets ,every machine has its strengths and weaknesses ,I have a few machines for that reason, plenty of times I have seen lower end market machines ,find more on rallies

Hi Chris I like to see what other machines can do amd mix it up a bit. There are too many detectorists in this day n age that obsess about 1 machine and 1 machine only (mainly people who use a Minelab 🤣). Also, sometimes its just nice to have a change. Its impossible to compare the machines as Ive used my XP 1,000 times and the apex 1 time 🤣🤣

At 13.45 , that finds pouch is the one i use . I bought 2 on ebay a while ago . Phil's something or other on ebay .
What made you buy the Apex ?
Was it a Regtons prezzy or did you just want it ?
Have you ditched the ORX ?
When the Apex was announced i thought about it a while but didn't get one. I am more into Minelab for beaches .
When you were going over that large iron they sounded reasonable but had high numbers , at least the numbers jumped a bit . One way to tell.
Try the Apex in a single frequency , multi frequency isn't best everywhere and i dont think its deeper neither . It can be better with the Nox sometimes in single frequency .
Things i like about the Apex are its lightweight , Multi Frequency . But things i am not sure of are its iron rejection , maybe slow recovery ? having a coil like that quite slim means if you had a bigger round coil it might ? not recover well between targets .
The other thing i found out about from a mate was that one of the bigger coils if you set to Multi Salt it wont work well if at all on Silver rings . I dont know if thats been sorted yet , but it was OK on its normal coil.
So watch out when buying other coils . I will have to ask my mate which coil it was . I think Nigel will know , my mate he knows is Martin Garner .
Its the NEL coils that do not work on beach. I only detect pasture, Im 100 miles from my nearest beach. I just fancied a new machine amd the apex was the most affordable, I liked the look of it too. Definitely not a present but I did get a very good deal.
Next time I take it out I will try it on single frequency and probably on all metal mode, maybe its similar to the AT Pro.
You are definitely better off with a minelab on the beaches they are real good beach detectors

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire ah so that is Regtons in the intro, makes sense now. In Norway XP and Garret is distributed by two different dealers. Did Regtons discover your channel and offer you a deal, or did you reach out to them? Ive considered making a channel myself when life settles a bit.
@@blue2isle I reached out to them a year ago or so. It was very difficult to get them interested and once onboard it was quite exclusive. But now they take more and more onboard so is not exclusive anymore. Having UA-camrs onboard must have very good financial benefits for them. Which is good for business

Hi Ian, best thing to do is find some farms that are local to you, then politely ask if you can detect on their fields. But first you should get some practic in your back garden scanning various coins and other bits n pieces to learn the signals and the tones. Metal detecting can be very stressful and hard in the first few months. Its not easy getting permission either. You need to dress smart, look presentable and earn the landowners trust. did you run your machine over the water spring ???
Do ya know what I can't remember but I'm sure I would have. There is sooo much water on that permission. Its near a reservoir so the ground easily becomes saturated. I have a video coming up on this permission it was -3 amd the whole place was like an ice ring

Hi mate, I would expect the battery to last at least 30 hours. Garrett machines are renowned for long battery life. I used a Garrett AT Pro for 4 years and the battery would last ages. I think its awesome in this day n age modern machines are now rechargeable

Gosh this is an old video. Yes there are many advantages to digging larger plugs - less chance damaging gold and silver finds, less chance of animals pulling it out and burns more calories, thus losing more weight 🤙🔥🥳

Great video as always, I found my first whole Crotal bell the other day in a park in Exeter!! Only 15 mm acoss and has decorated sides and still rings!!! Apparently 13 th - 14 century.. made my day!!

To be honest I think the control box on this apex is the nicest looking control box I've seen on any machine. Its beautiful, sleek and modern, leaps and bounds ahead of any other machine. But thats just my opinion.

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire well yeah but compared to the nox and the simplex( I’m bias as I got the simplex) it just looks naff... maybe my artist eye is working over time 🤣 yep I couldn’t believe it mate, a beautiful little Crotal bell, crappy signal too and was hard to find amongst the dirt( must bother to use my pinpointer more 😝) but it’s so gorgeous!!! It’s a pretty old park and I was hitting old Victorian coins instantly and I don’t think it’s ever been detected before, I mean right from the off coins every where... got to be some good silver there?!!! I did find a beautiful gold guild large button with an elaborate D embossed on it too which was very pleasing, Exeter is full of Roman history too with its old Roman walls etc... did you know under the Cathedral green where everyone gathers all the time to eat their sandwiches and yap... there’s over 100 1000 bodies buried!??? Yep one hundred thousand, before they had proper cemeteries everyone went under there!!! Astonishing x

Hi Jason, with any new machine you have to learn it and learn the signals. It is frustrating going from a machine you know inside and out, its like starting again. I will give this machine a chance though, also I'll be getting a bigger coil soon. I enjoy using different machines and hope it makes my channel appeal to more people. @@jasondunn6223 I have read many comments about the standard Viper coil been pretty much next to useless. With an upgraded coil the machine is meant to be much better. I will hopefully get the NEal Tornado on mine

I cant fault my garrett apex.... Mostly in coins mode MF sens 2 notches back and iron off.......
Yeah the iron audio was really bothering me literally grunting away constantly making good signals sound like iron. Soon as I switched that off I was hitting nice signals
