Ground density, mineralization, so on and so forth can greatly impact depth. Some places you can run your machine hot & others you gotta dial it back. It is part of detecting. So that being the case how is an air test an indicator of depth being most likely you won't be able to run the machine exactly as you have it set up for an air test? Try running the exact same settings ran on an air test in a highly fertilized farm field, red clay, a wet sand salt water beach, black sand, etc. Think you will get the same depth you get in the air? Feel free to answer that one. Air tests are good if you want to get a baseline on tones and vdi but that is about where it ends. You are better served running a test bed in your back yard as it is more reflective of real world use unless you are detecting in the trees or open sky above your head. Your claim is you worked on electronics for 20yrs? Well the engineers & scientists at Minelab who actually developed this of tech(much longer ago than Garrett) disagree with you. @@adventurearchaeology back in the 80's there was a article about that in western/ eastern treasure mag. they said the same thing for every 100.00 you get a inch of depth.

Mostly Garrett youtube influencers making these videos, not sure if this is one of them because there’s no overview of the operation or setup as I’d expect in such. A split view showing the screen during the air test would be far more informational. I did hear some tonal change (to lower) on a couple of targets while trying to get the max air distance. That is misleading as a change in tone will influence the user as to wether it is a desirable target within the desired conductivity range. I could go on and on and I am trying to be objective. There’s not much to gain from this video. I know that I don’t need a 12th detector 🙄but a family member is seriously interested. I will applaud Garrett for coming out with new tech in THEIR lineup, staying competitive. When Calabash Digger gets one in his hands does a video the straight dope on this will be evident. He has given his opinion of the limits of the Apex based upon the frequency range topping out at 20kHz. I concur with him based on my 34 years detecting and understanding of the tech. I can see the Apex as a fine entry level detector but it is not going to be a new revelation outside the Garrett line. The 1730 cob you see was in my avatar was uncovered by my EQX800 because of exceptional recovery speed. I want to see the Apex sound off on commingled targets.
Garretts are best bang for buck. I started with a few other brands, but the game changer was when I got an Ace 350. What a machine! I abused the hell out of it, she still works. Stepped up to the GTI and its amazing. Im liking what I see with the APEX.. thinking Im gonna have to add it to the collection. .
You should do another video showing its target separation abilities. From what I've seen, its processing is quite a bit faster than my AT Pro. I honestly think all around it can hang side by side with an equinox. I've always been a fan of Garrett but since the equinox came out, it has been at the top
What I found out about the Apex, is that unless you hunt in Jewelry mode you will pass up a lot of small gold and silver. It will also not find small native silver or gold, but both the ORX and Equinox 800 will find the native gold (still in the ore). It does do well on coins, but will not be my go to machine.
I wish they would make a wireless search coil in running shoes, then have a control box that looks like a cell phone to do all your adjustments on,, & it could be put in your shirt pocket so no one can see it. then they need to make a wireless headphone that looks like a radio head phone, then you could walk on grass parks and detect,, & parks board people would not know your detecting in there parks. All you need is good pinpointer to find the shallow coins and a small jack knife to dig a very small hole in the grass to find your coins. as you may know some parks you are not allowed to detect in. this would be a better way to detect in these park if u know what I mean. Seems like metal detecting companys haven`t thought of this idea, bet they would sell a lot of these type of detectors if they would only make them I would buy one. There are too many parks that we cannot detect in. if we do we might get a fine if we use a normal detector.
Air tests are pointless as an indicator of depth. You are not detecting in the sky you are detecting in the ground. Now if you want to do air tests for a baseline for tones of certain targets or vdi readings that is fair but you would be better served running a test bed in your back yard. Mineralization/soil conditions can impact depth massively and can vary from site to site. As far as the Apex goes I personally would opt for a Vanquish 540.
Nothing superior on the beach. The Simplex on the beach is just mediocre and no match for the Apex. The Apex is a great machine, and well worth the money.
@@ADMNK the apex doesn't even have true modes let alone a true all metal mode with a threshold setting which is fantastic on the beach . The modes are just discrimination settings for amateurs. The simplex modes change the way the machine operates i. e mineralisation, recovery speed etc. And it's not waterproof. Made me laugh when they brought out the at pro "international". No circuitry change, just the printed facia. And in America you only have about 6 different coins/targets to identify. Europe has hundreds. Makes me laugh that you are all experts 😂

I may get with Heath and see if we can do a bit of comparison!
Excellent review Brandon, that seems like a well made machine!
Its a good one Jerry!
Ahhh the simplex is built like a tank and does not shake at all !!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the video and info on this machine!!😎🐓🐓🇬🇧
Thanks!!!
Its definitely the best looking detector that's come out recently, I think some aftermarket coils on this will rival the nox 800
Have you seen how this machine suffers with the iron? Light years behind the Minelab....
Iam so wanting one omg.they cost way to much though.there are so many awsome places i want to explore...ok Godbless yall got me fired up.
Just use your hand so its apples to apples on air test.
Air test..,?
apex very poor on air test,my 400 would beat the apex by about 4 or 5 inches
Coil size has a lot to do with it!
Dang my bottle digging I is really screwing me from seeing the video first when it come out
Hahaha Sounds like a good reason!
Yea I already found two Coca-Cola bottles in like the first minute of digging
Sounds like a great start!!
Yes sir you have a geat rest of you day
@@austinhall3257 You do the same!!
Im still waiting for Garret to come out with metal detecting shoes lol
Pre ordered mine can't wait!!
You wont be disappointed!
Garrett.... if you are listening to this... make it WATERPROOF AND SUBMERSIBLE!!!!
As far as the Apex goes I personally would opt for a Vanquish 540.
cool
low range detection
Маловатые сантиметры у твоего машинь!
I think the apex will bancrupt garret. It's a terrible detector for the price. Simplex is a far superior machine for nearly half the price.
@@jasonobrien8861 Simplex fans seem to live in a bubble where a Nox is not even a match for their Simplex. Merrill from Metal Detecting NYC has over 200 hours with the Apex on the beach and rates it almost as good as his Nox on salt performance.
Just ore this toy
The Simplex destroys this machine and it’s not even close.
😅 Simplex is a turned up chattery mess of a machine.
Adventure Archaeology The part you say it’s not stable is a comlete lie. The Simplex does chatter a lot which I don’t notice being used to it, but there isn’t anything performance wise that the Apex beats it on.
Simplex and apex both are crap, goldenmask any modle, will blow them away for a lot less money, hold its own against nox or deus are you for real, mind boggles its a average machine,
@@NationalChamps7 that's a bold and false statement. The Apex performs extremely well on salt where the Simplex has just a mediocre performance. Stop praising the Simplex like it's a Nox. The Simplex is great value for money but mediocre on salt where the Apex excels.
Terrible detector.
