Sometimes the guy talking gets a little annoying because he’s always talking over you and I really want to hear what you have to say because you’re the guinea pig queen!!!!!
Thank u. I was scrolling thru looking for this. I hope they get another camera man cause he is all over the place at times, over talks Saskia, zooms out when she showing and making an important point, etc. It's VERY annoying.💯
I feel like he hijacks the video sometimes too and just does his own thing bc he has control of the camera.. it’s a bit much at times … occasionally he can be funny, but he needs to tone it way down!

Yes he was amazing - most boys would do a lot worse things if their painful, infected penis was pulled around like that!

I both love and hate these videos. I love the educational aspect, but my heart goes out to the poor guy! I hope he feels better soon! I like to check my boars weekly. I hope that is enough to prevent a nasty infection like that.
Awww I totally get it. You don't ever want to see any piggy hurt in anyway. It was tough for me to do as I know it was ouchie for Hamlet but in a few days he will feel much better. Will be doing a follow up on this boy in a few weeks.

@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue sorry, I know you are trying to help, but could you do that not holding poor piggy bent backwards, pulling where it clearly hurts and maybe do it at home or in a quiet area in a shelter in the tub with warm water while taking time and not forcing poor baby to go through all this pain???????????? he was crying, I had to stop the video, made me sad and angry!

If you let him sit in a warm bath with Epsom salts and Povidone Iodine (Betadine), the salts will draw out the pus and the iodine will keep it disinfected. Then coat with Neosporin ointment or Silvadene silver ointment if Neosporin is not appropriate. I also use Neosporin Ophthalmic liquid to inject into the skin folds. This system works well on all animals including birds. My standard for pus wounds.

hello 9 month old comment :) domestic guinea pigs as we know them no longer exist in the wild and haven't for a long time. They have some wild relatives still, but the difference is pretty significant.

And that “normal stuff” is called smegma. And it naturally has an odor.
I was wondering why she has her hair down. To each his/her own but personally when I’m doing something like cleaning or whatever, I have to have my hair pulled back!
Did she see how she got some of that stuff out , wiped her finger on a towel then grabbed her glasses and to her face.
She has talked about smegma before in other video's. I can say with certainty that she def knows what she is doing and has cleaned many other penises on the show and im only a new viewer :)

I suspect the reason they get buildup is because they’re domesticated, likely because we don’t let them have as much sex by isolating males from females. That lil’ penis is rarely in proper use, if ever. As for weak? Hell yeah. They’re prey animals. In the wild they’re lucky to live a year.

Thank you for showing what to do. I try my best to keep my boys clean, but one has terrible trouble. he was a breeder and needs cleaning at least twice a week. Tonight I pulled several strands of hay out of his bum, and lots of the skunky stuff!! He yelled a lot too!
maybe do it gently and slowly in the warm water and listen to what makes the piggy uncomfortable?

My (already late) guinea pig had a similar problem, though the penis was redder. The vet ordered him antibiotics, and while he was getting better, a honey-based cream called "Vetramil" had to be applied three times a day. Unfortunately it was temporarily out of stock in all the nearby pharmacies, so I used a silica-based lubricant till a pharmacy got some of the honey-based cream.After the antibiotics we gave it probiotics, too, but he also ate his friend's poop, which annoyed the friends somewhat. Anyway, the guinea pig fully recovered, and lived healthy life over three more years till few weeks before he would have had his fifth birthday he passed away.

I think you should replace your dry paper towel with an unscented wet wipe. The “smagma” just keeps transferring from your gloves to the infected genetalia and then to the dry paper towel without effectively “wiping” the germs off. I personally would have a l myself set up a bit differently soo that I could “quickly” do the treatment with the least amount of stress on the piggy.

It looked like hamlet had something in or on the coner of his eye. It could just be his fur i was seeing or something else i just thought id point out that it looked that way. I noticed it when he was eating.

I`m glad someone has brains here, - it was an absolute torture for this little guy and he was screaming, saying 'it hurts' but that woman didn`t care, she didn`t care to make the piggy more comfortable or at least not in public and pulling him in every way, I`m furious!
