  • In this 10 minute guided meditation, Eckhart explores the transformative power of meditation and the essence of being. He explains that many people view meditation as just another obligation to add to their already crowded to-do list. However, he suggests that it's better to view meditation as a way to delve deeper into oneself and access inner peace.

    Oh the relief!
To rest in that which is always here
    No need to go anywhere
No need to exert any effort
    Nothing to chase
    Nothing to resist
What a stable ground to rest on
    And so alive

      To feel our being.
We can feel our Being mainly in the solar plexus. Wayne Dyer, who was a friend of Eckhart Tolle, when he gave his lectures, asked his audience to point to themselves and made them notice that they had pointed to the chest in the solar plexus, that they had not pointed to the head, and he explained that this happens. because it is in the chest at the level of the heart and the pit of the stomach, where we can feel our inner Being that many of us call Soul, Consciousness. In the head is our brain and in our brain is our mind, which are body devices like arms and legs, but they are not our true self. The word meditation is not correct because meditación means to be thinking and that is not what we are trying to do, we are trying to make contact with our inner self, with our consciousness, with our soul, with our true Self.

He's got it! Exactly why I don't like the word "mindfulness" in meditation. A full mind is exactly what I try to run away from with meditatation. Mindemptiness rather. Or simply ... deep being.

So lucky to live in Eckharts life time! The ultimate goal is no thought, that's where presents is. Where the observer, your soul is. But just jumping to no thought (especially here in America with consent busy thought streams) is next to impossible for most. So the "work out" is necessary to train the mind ... that the Observer is in charge. Focus on breath, soon thoughts will come, the moment you become "aware" that you're back to thoughts BLAM that awareness is the Observer!! But the mind is powerful with a lifetime of control, and will quickly take back over. But that's ok ... bring it back away from the thoughts to the breath over and over.
Picture doing curls, when the weight comes up you're in thoughts, consciously lower the weight and bring it back to the breath, over and over AND over ... It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and took me weeks of "training" before just alittle "shift" of starting to be in control of the mind with longer and longer periods out of thoughts. I'm not going to kid you, it takes a while and oddly, learning to have relaxed focus is difficult, kind of like a tug of war. In a few weeks I started to see progress and after several months I started to have control over my meditations with longer and longer moments in presents. Hopes this helps! Namstate 🎶 ❤ 🎶

I have to agree with you. This guy has been such an amazing teacher. I always have my intuition on high alert for anything that comes across as BS but with him he is the real deal and what he says. I have bought 2 books from him. " The Power of Now" and "The New Earth" I was blown away by how much I learned and still I think it was the best teachings to level up myself. I am grateful for you sharing your experience. I believe this is important to master. There's so many traps you can get stuck in. The goal is to be the observer but when you get that far it's still hard to maintain. I find music very helpful to get out of my thoughts and be in the now. I sometimes have to sing so loud that my thoughts can't hear me. Lol.

Thoughts are inevitable, thinking is optional. While you have a pulse your mind will produce thoughts that you will receive whether you like it or not, being able choose whether to think about the minds thoughts or not, that's an obtainable goal but a place of no no thoughts, is simply a fictional place like Oz, Hogwarts and Atlantis 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Etc and then these thoughts will not only become separate of me but it also pushes me into the observer, my soul. It's also like a flashlight shining light on these thoughts ... and the thoughts quickly dissipate, because darkest can not live in the light!

@@recordgirly2567 I agree space between thoughts and thinking is both very achievable and essential if we are to think for ourselves rather than go through life at the mercy of our minds thoughts, fears, opinions and beliefs or simply following everything we've been told to think feel and believe by others. Thoughts are self arising and are produced for us by our minds to either use or let pass without interest or attention, as someone on this channel so brilliantly once put it " they are not your thoughts, they aren't even really about you", it's so true because if we are not producing the thoughts, how can we truly call them ours thoughts 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Indeed, when I first watched one of his meditation videos, I thought he was just explaining stuff at the beginning, and then the meditation would "start". Suddenly, the video ended and I realized that the meditation was already over. I completely missed it by waiting for "something" to happen or expecting a magic "something" to occur. When in actuality, the essence of meditation is to do nothing. Just sit there. Be aware. Don't do anything. Don't analyse anything. Don't judge anything. Just be there and be aware and relax. There is nothing more refreshing than stepping out of the stream of mind.

You are about to create all that you will look back on someday. You have the power to choose.
The next time you’re faced with worry, breathe in. Choose to be present. Choose to be curious. The next time you notice yourself postponing joy, simply tell yourself, “I’m allowed to enjoy this.”
Do that enough times, and you may just find it will add up to a life well-lived.

then what has happened, what are we not experiencing?

    • @markfuller
      @markfuller Рік тому +4

I like the part about remembering to breathe. I think our breathing is analogous to how our mind works. We hoard the past (it's gone, it's a story we tell ourselves) for fear of the future being unpredictable(?). I think we breathe that way too. When you realize you're engaged with your narrating, self-talking mind, you'll often notice you're shallow breathing. It's like we hoard breath, not trusting that the next one will be there. I.e., "you have to give up a breath to have one." Likewise, you have to give up the past to have the now (in your mind; being present in your experience).
Another interesting thing about this is called the "hypercapnia" response. That's the subconcious "fight/flight" response when you hold your breath (and CO2 levels rise). You'd be lucky to hold your breath 1 minute. If you could make it, it would feel like you were close to death. But, people who practice "slow diving" can hold their breath 20 minutes. They learn to inform their subconscious "it's ok, I've got this. I don't need your help." The panic consumes more oxygen, adding nothing to the result. (When we live in our minds believing our self-talk, our story about who we are, were, will be, won't be, should be... and so on... we partially suffocate ourselves with shallow breathing, adding an _urgency_ to the story in our minds that we're identifying with, making it "real." It's like _exact_ opposite of what free divers do. We practice reactivity. They practice "I got this, I'm here, it will be ok.").

I’m just overwhelmed. Heavenly Father I know you don’t give us no more than we can handle. But Lord have mercy on me. I need a breakthrough. Since covid I can’t seem to get back on my feet. I was fired from my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my lupus and I also have a heart condition. I’m waitressing but not making nearly enough. Every month is a struggle not to end up on the streets with my children. I’m struggling putting groceries in my refrigerator. Struggling to pay rent. But, thankfully God has provided this far. I know and have faith he will continue. Faith over fear. We should praise God even in hard times. I love you Jesus! Thank you Heavenly Father.

Eckhart teaches that what we are all moving toward is enlightenment (awareness), an expanded consciousness.
He teaches that being present and observing your mind made self, the one who tends to see itself as a 😢victim as one who suffers. If you are looking for a breakthrough I’d say you come to the best place on this planet and that is right here, right now. I highly highly recommend his book the power of now....the most influential book I’ve eve read in this lifetime.
The truth about who you are is waiting to be discovered, and once that truth is brought to the light of your consciousness, you will have all the help that you could ever imagine.

It's a bit difficult to not get sucked into the pull of thoughts and emotions...to simply watch them until they pass...or to simply pay attention to what's happening all around in the here and now, without mentally commenting about what is being observed...or to get sucked into any emotional energy that may arise from the happenings...which are usually accompanied by more thoughts and opinions. But it can be done with lots of practice. Living only in the now. So simple, yet it goes against the way pretty much all of us have been living since soon after birth. So nice that there are people willing to teach what they've learned. (I've learned about the detrimental effects of carb consumption but that's another thing too strange for most humans to even consider. 🙄)

I see it as _observing._ That is something you "do" compared to sitting there waiting for something to happen to you. The latter can lead to thinking about what you'll do when the medit. is over. (Or, falling asleep.). But, observing (doing) can lead to judging what's being done, trying to make something happen, etc. IMO, it's always about the "middle way" (of buddhism). It's doing, but it's not forcing, expecting, resenting. It's more than "not doing." There's engagement in observation. You're there, participating in a way that you won't fall asleep "waiting for something to happen." But, it's not "identifying" (with thoughts, fighting them, judging them). Just observing. It's something between the two extremes.

I have to close my eyes. Seeing things is too distracting. I'm an old doer and now am new and a weakling at this. I buy into his explanation of "being" something I was aware of time to time at 12 y.o. or so and lost by 14.

    • @markfuller
      @markfuller Рік тому +1

Minfulness vipassana meditation typically involves closing the eyes. Most people find it easier that way. It's not required. This type of meditation isn't intended to be an altered state that you enter through a formal, ritual-like meditation, then go about your daily life as if you have a full tank of gasoline (when you run low, go back to the formal activity). It's really about familiarizing yourself with that essense you are closer to in this meditation. With practice & more familiarity you can get there anytime, while walking, thinking, working. It's like you've practiced identifying with thought (a story of who are, were, will be, can't be, should've been, and so on). It's like an addiction for existing in the present moment. So, it can take much practice to be familiar with that 12 yo you (the essence that was you then, and is still you now -- but with more story). When you've practiced something for decades, it takes some time practicing something else for the old habit to be less automatic.

Don't quote me because I heard it in a video of his but I couldn't possibly remember which one, haha. He answered that it's meant to challenge us, to help us trascend the world of form, the ego, etc. Basically it's a teacher. "Why weren't we born as an already conscious beign?" you may be wondering, and IIRC he explained that as well but it was more lengthy and can not recall it precisely,
but hopefully with this you can find such video/quote. Cheers

Imagine waking up in a dark, strange place surrounded by millions of blood curdling screams…
Imagine a heat so sweltering your skin is literally melting off your body.
Imagine never being able to hug your loved ones or experience a single moment of joy for eternity.
Now imagine knowing this could all have been prevented by one simple act that takes 5 seconds, but it’s too late.
This will be the reality for billions of nonbelievers in Jesus who couldn’t swallow their pride and just believe. The Bible is clear.
    Matthew 7:14
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

We ARE in the last days, and God says unbelievers will have no excuse when they stand before Him at the Great White Throne Judgement.
    Romans 1:20
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
Believe in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection now, even if your pride is telling you not to. That’s Satan’s army whispering in your ear. He wants your eternal soul in hell with him.
Many people will scoff this message as fear mongering, never realizing that the Bible prophecied this 2,000 years ago.
    2 Peter 3:3
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,”
Do not listen to these scoffers. They are either deceivers or deceived themselves.
    John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

That's brave of you to say. It's a start. :) Really. That's how the self-talking (egoic) mind works. It will find every possible reason not to hear the message. The message is "die before you die." That refers to ego death. The ego's priority is to remain in control, telling you who you are. "If I'm gonna die, it's not to gonna be following a voice like that!" (That's really how it works. The first step is recognizing the mere possibility that it works that way. That would be the start of listening more, not caring about how imperfect the voice is. If you were drowning, would you reject a bright pink preserver? Does it really matter that it's not the orange color you've seen on tv forever?).

@@blucat4 I like those guys, plus Mooji, Adyashanti, Ram Dass. Also, Sam Harris, Dan Harris (no relation), Stephen Bachelor, (who are all less spiritual, more secular. I.e., awakening dosn't depend upon belief in spiritual things. It can be practiced & observed without all the trappings of buddhism, or explanations, or "traditions."). Also some more science'y channels that often get into consciousness (Lex Friedman; Closer To Truth).
I can (do) find things in all them that "I don't like." ("Why can't he..." "It really annoys me that he..." I won't rattle off each person's deficiencies. If I do, everyone will start seeing it too.). I get a lot of good stuff from them all. No single one is "it" for me. The bits of "it" I get from all point to how my tendency to judge, focus on what's "not it" is the thing to really be aware of (watch them & be aware how I'm affected, that it's me, not them.). What good is to to find "it" all the time while ignoring the "not it" in me (that can prevent me from seeing "it" in others).
I think it was Sam Harris's wife (Anaka) on Lex Friedman's channel (more about science) who gave me the most powerful pointing (i.e., the less-typical outlets, where you'd look less for pointings of this kind). She talked about imagining being enveloped (existing within) a bag. All you know is your experience in that bag. It's all that exists to you. Someone comes along and pokes a small hole in your bag. Suddenly you're entirely fixated on everything you see outside that hole, explaining what it means to yourself, judging it, being part of it. Just a small hole revealing stuff that's NOT you, and you become consumed by it. Engulfed. When the lights go out, you drop into a subconscious that processes your experience in its own irrational way, adding to your renewed & instant fixation when the lights come back on. If someone taped over that hole, you'd suffer an ego death. Back to just "this is me, contained in a bag. Nothing more. Nothing less." (Even though you were perfectly content that way until you were turned on to the whole "me among everyone else" story.). That hole fed _enormous_ confabulation, fixation, obsession, mental "must-erbation." Complete loss of connection with what's really you.
To me, my tendency to find "what's not it" with all these teachers is connected to the hole in my bag. :) I'm engaged in stuff that doesn't matter, but makes me feel good somehow. I sometimes imagine myself standing outside my bag and seeing my eye pressed up against the inside of the bag, intently engaged... (frantically "blink... blink..."). That sometimes puts my triggering in perspective. ("It's that other bag! I've got something on that other bag! I relate to it in some way! If only it could be more....!").
