Your comment moved me I must say, as simple as it was. I am 48 and can’t imagine making it another 48, but I know I must prepare for it…with better health decisions for one.
I think what most people do get from Eckhart, as you so kindly said, is the pure Love ❤️ that exudes from his unshakable still mind and persona. I’m always humbled just watching him for brief periods, even after ten plus years of reading and listening to him. Thank you 🙏

I remember concluding that. Every character already had what they sought. It's true for all of us. Tolle helps quiet the mind and our gifts are revealed to us.

I found The Power of Now in 09/10 while at the bottom of my life situation, serving 2 yrs in prison. That book helped me so much while doing my time, as well as when i got out. Ive been an Elkhart fan ever since!. (And yes, i did get my life 100%back on track after that. In part thanks to Eckharts books.❤)

I once read The Power of Now, it was a Birthday present from my father and his wife, back when I used to have quite strong depressions and anxiety. It was a real eye opener to me, kind of like a starting point of a journey towards a different life than the one I was used to. It's really been years now, of meditation, lifestyle change, change of occupation and so on and these steps have brought me to a place I really enjoy 🙂 I wouldn't say I'm super happy all the time, but I'm so much better off than I was in those days... So thank you very much for writing such a great book! ❤

He is praised and glorified daily and constantly in all of existence.

It seems to me that shifting from the small self to the Greater Self is a long and difficult process, with what appears as depression as we let go of our attachments, and I really wish there could be more help, more discussion of this.
All of a sudden I get it! It makes perfect sense! Amazing...I can control this!
It's hard to accept what 'is' when you're trying to process multiple traumas and the enormous anger that remains. I can only 'accept' so much before my pain body triggers fearful memories and away I go again.

I was moved by your example as the talking ended and your outer demeanour mirrored what you already described....this has to be, I mused that 'one thing necessary' how I need to hear and see this on this delightful early May morning! I always find Mr. Tolle helpful. Rarely I am not able to fully settle in and absorb and let go. Tonight is one of those times. My mind is reminding me of a big mistake. I seem to waver in my understanding.

It's hard to write with accuracy how Mr Tolle articulates the truth about our existence that does him justice. But if I may indulge as a nobody ; It's as if all his academic brilliance and wisdom and knowledge and enlightenment is held inside a syringe. And is then delivered with great love and sincerity into our hearts and minds. And we are never the same again. 🙏🤍

NOW - SPIRIT - INFINITE REALITY - choose whatever word means to you ALL THERE IS OF ALL THERE IS. NOW - INFINITE INTELLIGENCE is not a dimension, something measurable. LIFE - REALITY is undimensional and IT is not within "you" IT is the only YOU there is. There is no power of now, just POWER that is NOW, literally!!!!
As Eckhart mentions Jesus I started studying, thinking about the crucifixion of Jesus.
It's amazing to think how much He endured during hours of aggression, teasing, insults, physical and mental torture!
He didn't react. He endured those present hours without sinning.
He wasn't forced to do things he didn't want to.
That reminds me of buddhist monks who protested the vietnam war by self-immolation. I always thought of that as a dramatic & self-destructive form of protest. But, now I realize they could exist with their self in the moment without the physical pain. It didn't matter what was happening as they immolated, it wasn't them. They could exist with their pure self through that.
As a child, I spent a lot of time alone in my room. I have experience alot of what he speaks of. Now that I'm older, I have lost a lot of that. My problem is my mind goes and goes and is hard to quit. Especially if I spend to much time alone , and with negativity. I need advice, on how to quit the mind.
For me it takes daily practise. I can't always get there but the discipline of meditation every day develops my ability to access the stillness in me.
I direct my attention to my heart area and this helps tremendously.
Be patient with yourself, being alone in nature also supports this practise
For me it was the first video in my playlist (click username, view full playlist, there's a description I wrote about how to approach it). It starts with practicing that meditation, being familiar/observant/attendant to your mind in that ideal setting. But, as you become more familiar with that observer self compared to the thinking self, you can get there anytime (not ideal meditation environment). It's a process of individuation (the self in the moment from the self thinking/narrating/explaining in the moment). We usually go along with the latter like it's normal, reality, "my experience." But, when you familiarize yourself with what remains when you don't think, or don't give space to thoughts -- even if it lasts only half a second -- it's a you (self) that you're not familiar with. The more familiar you become, the more you can get there anytime (when you notice you're thinking about something relentlessly, triggered, etc. You can get to that observer self and realize the patterns of thinking that occur.).
