We ARE back!! We had an amazing Disney vacation and are FINALLY getting back into the normal swing of life! 😊As soon as we got back, i HAD to get moving to unpack, do all of the laundry and get our house back to normal! I'm sure some of you are a lot like me too! I hope your week is amazing and you're able to get everything done that you need to! Jamie you underestimate yourself. Because of you I've developed a passion for cleaning and an attention to detailed cleaning. With that I've turned my cleaning into a career. I now work for my local city hall/police department as their cleaning/maintenance person. As well as a local church/event center and I get paid really good money to do it. I make my own schedule so I can be there for my children and also make us some extra money to go on vacations and go on fun outings. Thank you for your inspiration, for your teaching, and product recommendations!! You're so very appreciated here!
I am the same way! I immediately unpack and start the laundry!! it is always so fun to go, but I am always happy to get home and get back to my routine! So glad you enjoyed your trip!
One trick I do on vacation is put a garbage bag in everyone’s suitcase. All dirty clothes go in them and then I have all clothes sorted for when we get home. It makes it a lot easier and less daunting!

We always said Disney is NOT a vacation…it’s a trip!
Welcome home! My husband and I are moving (our close date is currently set for August 2nd) from an 892 square foot, 1 bedroom + den apartment into a 970 square foot one level house (no basement), 3 bedrooms + 1 bathroom. The house sits on an almost 1/4 acre lot in one of the suburbs of Minneapolis. It was built in the 1950s so it is an older home and it is in definite need of some improvements and updates. I have been slowly working on getting some things packed. Yesterday (Saturday, 6/15) I went upstairs and emptied out our storage locker (with the exception of the Christmas tree). We still have about 45 days until we close (fingers crossed everything goes off without a hitch), so I have time. But I am not someone who thrives in chaos, so I don't want to sit and procrastinate and then be left scrambling and feeling completely overwhelmed. I am hopeful that my stepson will be able to come home from Florida for a few days to help with moving, but if he is unable to get approved time off, we will manage. Our lease isn't technically up on our apartment until September 15th so we aren't in the situation of having to rush, but I just want to get moved and put that whole journey behind us. And I am excited for our dog to have her very own completely fenced in backyard.

I have a strong sense of smell. I always worry that people might be able to tell we have four cats. When people come over and see a cat wander through, they say, "I didn't know you had cats. There is no smell!" We clean the litter boxes daily, which are not in the main areas, so that may help. We also have no carpet to hold smells. We do open at least one window a day to get fresh air. What makes a difference is when we run the sprinklers in the morning, and the smell of water wafts through the house, making it smell fresh. Glad you had a good time.
Same here I have four cats and no one can tell that. You have to keep on top of the cleaning

No you are not a weirdo, i believe that when you are in the business of cleaning and thats what we are is professional cleaners myself included for 20 years now i think our eyes ,ears, and noses are just automatically trained that way, one of the highest compliments that i get from my clients is that the house looks great and smells so good and that makes me feel so good so we are just that way

My very 1st time at Disney World was in 2016 and when I stood in front of the castle I cried! All my life I had seen Disney in books and on TV but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever get to go there lol. What an amazing experience!

Oh my gosh I worry about my house smell all the time. My mom always said, if you take out your garbage, wash your clothes, clean the bathroom regularly your house won’t smell. I try my hardest to make sure all those things aren’t sitting around. 🤞 my house smells good. ❤

Glad you guys had great trip. Hope everyone is feeling better now. I’m same way when we get back I have to get things back in order. I can’t stand the house being a mess. We travel a lot of weekends for my daughter’s wheelchair basketball tournaments. We go all over the states for it. But we leave Friday morning and come back late Sunday evening. And I’m always up Monday morning getting everything put up.
Disney is not for everyone! Especially if you thrive for schedules and organization. You need to be very flexible at Disney. I also do not recommend the dining plan for newbies, too much stress!!

Not crazy at all, I think every house has a smell, for those with pets it is harder to eliminate bad smells. And I think this is important for guests when they come, a good smell of the house will make them feel comfortable.
I always take the time during a week long vacation to do a load or 2 of laundry at the hotel. That way we don’t have to pack as much and I don’t have as much to do when we get home.

I totally agree with you as far as getting sick of eating out during vacation. I get to the point where I just want cold cereal with milk or a simple ham sandwich. Glad you are back home.
You should try to book holiday accommodation with laundry facilities. So handy if the family has been in and out of the pool etc. Even if you could do a load every second day it would help you when you get home. ❤
Jamie I couldn’t agree more! Every house has a smell. I don’t notice mine but when people come in they always say it smells so good. I always keep plug ins in the wall.
I also crave a routine and by the last day of vacation I just want to get home and get my laundry washed and put away. I thought I was alone in my world 😂
Happy Father's Day Mike, both of your dads, all dads watching, including mom's who play both roles. Glad y'all made it home safely from Disney and had a wonderful time minus getting sick. Hope y'all are on the mend and doing well this Sunday. This past week was a rollercoaster of emotions. We had to say goodbye to our furbaby on Tuesday. I had my neurologist appointment Wednesday. My appointment went as well as expected. The tumor is most likely caused by my Crohn's. I have an MRI on August 13 and if nothing is wrong, I follow up with the neurologist on October 4. Right now, I'm in the hospital. I ask y'all to please continue to pray for us. Thank you in advance. God Bless.

I love the smell of a clean home. I miss my grandmas house. She was Italian, so it always smelled amazing! She cooked all the time ! When I make sauce or spaghetti, it reminds me of her and gives me a warm hug❤️

My son has been sick almost a month, cough is last to go
Definitely notice the way my house smells whenever I walk into it. One trick I use to keep it smelling good while gone is to make sure all of the trash is emptied and put essential oil in the bottom of all trash cans. Also I put essential oil in all of the toilets to help with keeping it clean. I love a clean smelling house!!!

Why vacuum the steps, when no one has been in your house in a week?
I don't find that weird I do the same thing and I think I can answer that for Jamie, if your house has been empty for a week whether someone is temporarily there checking on things or not there is aways going to be dust especially when you have a lot of windows and construction going up around you so I'm sure that's why I speak for myself as well I will clean before I leave and when I come home because the house has set up and dusty

I’m the same way!!! I just did it. We left for Anna Maria island. My home was spotless! When we came home, I did laundry and cleaned. It was dusty and I love the smell if fresh laundry and cleaning products. I’m weird lol

I looove when we come home from vacation and I get to smell my own home 😅 since we have a lot more vacation in Germany, we‘re usually gone at least two weeks multiple times a year and I love it! I remember this as a kid too, coming home and smelling „home“ 😂

In relation to smell Jamie, NO YOUR NOT A WEIRDO! LOL. I am the SAME WAY! I worry about smells in my home OR the natural smell of my home all the time! I also smell things before anyone else and I also relate smells to memory. Definitely think it’s genetics somehow.
Anyway, with relation to that , I found an AMAZING company called SCENTIMENT who makes waterless scent diffusers that are amazing!! I too have a brand new home like you. They make different sizes for rooms up to a whole house system for your HVAC system. When I was watching UA-cam one day their add came up and I decided to try. First I bought a mini diffuser to try it out and I was AMAZED home much this little thing that is meant for just a single room made my home smell amazing. It’s on a timer which you can set how you want. They are rechargeable and they have many many scents to choose from. I got a multi pack trial size to find my favorites. I have the same with the house smells. But I think it also has something to do with the age of the house, like some just smell old, it doesn't matter how good you clean.
And then of course if you have pets (cat, dog and guineapigs in our case) plus almost two teenagers (maybe someone knows what I mean 😂) and 2 small kids and a newborn in a week plus 2 adults ... I think my house smells very interesting, even though it's clean 😂
I think it also depends on the meals you cook (we cook and bake every day) 😅
We live in germany, our windows are open every day (I heard this is a german thing 😅), it also doesen't matter if it's freezing, they're open at least once a day.

Would be fun to meet you someday. I think the air Is different in Florida. My mom would get sick when she came back. I think I got a light cold

I’m the same way I try to eat healthy too now I’m not diabetic anymore I still have to keep my. A1C levels down so it’s not so high but family has been here for Father’s Day so I wanted to spurlge a little bit on desserts. It’s hard to always eat healthy and have too but I’m proud of myself for losing weight so that’s a good consequence on that side when eating healthy and exerting too. I have been to almost all the Disney parks several times so my k8ds could have that experience and I do not need to go again...I prefer Universal Studios and other things Florida has to offer now...

One thing I do before going on vacation is take the emergen c packet for at least a week before and while I'm on vacation. I used to be a toddler teacher and I used to get every sickness that the kids had and once I took that daily it helped me where I didn't get sick at all especially during covid when I was a teacher.

Im the same i get nervous about our house smell but i really think not having pets help. Some houses end up smelling a little bit sour. I think people get sick from Disney too because it's go go go all day long multiple days, our bodies are exhausted. Luckily we didnt but because our little one got tired early we didnt stay all day. Also i always have to tackle everything back in order as soon as we walk through the door not matter what time or how long it takes or I can't sleep. Haha its routine, hubby is on full dad mode or take her to sleep upstairs and sometimes take the suitcases upstairs but if it's too slow for me I'll haul everything myself but everyone know to clear out my way 😅

I have a weird sense of smell too! My partner, Bub and I just went away for 3 nights close by and took her bassinet and bedding and when we got home I could smell the house we stayed in, smell on her blanket 😂 which never left the bassinet haha 😂

I have a very sensitive sense of smell, I'll always smell things before other people, or things that other people never notice. It's not always a good thing! 😂
I have a strong sense of smell and when I get home from shift I’m always sniffing. I worry that my house smells of dog so spend a lot of time cleaning and hoping that other people don’t notice it, although I’m sure they do.
That's wasting too much strawberries, just remove the leaves.
Hey Jamie, I'm so glad you all had a good time at Disneyworld. I have a sensitive nose. I smell stuff that people around me don't or not to the degree that I smell it.
I'm totally a smells girlie too! I always worry about if we smell, if our house smells, etc. I don't want to be known as stinky.

I totally think I have a sensitive sense of smell too and I really worry about what my house smells like when people walk in because we have pets. And while I love my pets I don't want my house to smell like them 😂
