I also met my husband in 6th grade (that was 32yrs ago this September 😮) but we didn't get together until the end of our senior year. Once we got together things moved really fast. We were engaged a month later and 15 months after that we got married. This September we will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.

Happy Monday Jamie and friends! The timer definitely is a motivator. Another motivator is taking it one thing at a time. I get overwhelmed automatically when I look at the room as a whole because I'm so focused on all the mess all over the room! Instead, I go in and start with one area of the room and focus solely on that one area, like a table. Once I get that area clean, I go to another area. Breaking things up piece by piece helps a lot!

Hate to say this but what sometimes motivates me to get up and clean is watching one of those "disaster house" cleaning channels. The ones where the house is a complete mess and there is stuff/food/toys/etc all over the place and the counters/surfaces are gross. Since my house isn't close to being that messy, it makes me feel better about how little I need to do to get my house clean and how quickly getting it clean will take as opposed to whoever I just watched trying to clean theirs. On the other hand, watching channels like yours where the house mess is similar to mine and really isn't that bad makes me want to get up and get it done so that I can relax and enjoy the feeling of knowing I am done for the day.
I don't enjoy cooking, and I really want to enjoy it. Something I never realized is the cleaning takes your energy away for cooking. My daughter has her house professionally cleaned. She and her husband have big careers. They come home and enjoy cooking. It is mostly their only home chore.
I can definitely see how that would be helpful! Especially when you don't have the time!
My hubby and I celebrated our 40th anniversary this past January. Plus 2 years we were just friends.

I have to literally set a day and time for myself. e.g. On Saturday @ noon I have to start my chores. Once I get started, I’m inclined not to stop. I plug into your channel, stream it on my TV and put my earbuds in and GO! And love your take on letting the kiddos clean as they feel. Growing up, I remember wanting to contribute and trying to clean. My mom would always go in behind me and re-make my bed. I remember being so frustrated by that.
Music helps me want to clean when I don’t feel like it. I get more done it gives me a boost.

I think it’s the wall color in the small bathroom. Then add your wood shelves with black hardware, and a couple green plants. A cute little bench for the plant in the corner, target has cute ones in a wood color, hearth brand. Love your channel, thank you for being so real! ❤
I wish I could keep a routine like this. I work from home 2 days a week which is usually when I do most of the cleaning, but then it also can feel sooo overwhelming when I have so much to do in those 2 days. I do tidy as I go, usually, but there are some days where I don’t do a lick of cleaning. But, I’m doing my best and that’s all I can really hope for. Your videos are always super motivating though!!!
I REALLY love wallpaper in a powder room! I think it looks rich and chic no matter what your style is. Vertical stripes, leaves/floral, or even just a simple raised pattern on a mono-colored paper would look amazing! It's a cool way to make it look sophisticated without spending a ton of cash. Google some pics if you haven't seen that before and maybe you'll like it, too :)

Worth the wait! Thanks Jamie. I think for the small bathroom all your suggestions sound good to me. But I've also found simply changing hand towels to a brighter colour really helps.

Put some white floating shelves behind the toilet add a few staples on the shelves plus a fake small plant. I think the green plant would do the trick. Also YES, change that mirror to an oval or round one. Maybe the hand towels in there could have a plant leaf pattern with white background

With your coastal vibes in the rest of the house, you could do a light wood mirror, and then board and batten or beadboard around the lower half with a chair rail. We did that in our small guest bathroom. We do have a window in there, but those changes helped a lot

What helps me to clean is to turn on a recent unwatched video that you’ve put out that motivates people and it works. I don’t know it’s the music you choose and you know the coaching and seeing you do the work and also Mrs. Myers a good fresh cut grass or, something to like activate my senses to clean and it works🎉
Also stress will trigger me sometimes I feel like the only thing I have control over was how clean my house is….and the thought of coming down to a mess the next morning really triggers me so I do it for my future self😂🎉

Jamie, if you are cutting yourself when you cooking try the following. 1. Make sure your knives are very sharp. Either do it yourself or have it done professionally. Dull knives are dangerous because you are applying too much pressure and the knife will slip easily. 2. Hold the know with your thumb and forefinger at the point where the handle and blade meet. You will have complete control of the knife that way. The knife will do all the work as you gently use it.
Im going to try the timer and see how it works for me, but the daily/weekly/monthly schedules would be helpful. I'm now retired and suffer and struggle with arthritis in my hips snd back. I'm slow moving and easily discouraged and overwhelmed, watching your channel has helped, thank you.

It’s funny you do this routine. I started a routine something like this back in the 80s because I started teaching as a new teacher and then I was a new mom. I remember saving Wednesday for just tidying everywhere because I had a teachers meeting every Wednesday no matter what it was till 5 o’clock 😮thanks for bringing back memories but I’ve just got my new home and I am going to back to do this new routine….😮😅😂 it just makes things in life easier.

Thank you for sharing. I love having a guide or routine to clean my home. There are days that it doesn't get done but that is totally ok.
Couple of ideas to help you in the kitchen. Maybe invest in gloves that are cut resistant when you're prepping. The other idea is pre-cut veggies. Which can save time in the kitchen.
The downstairs bathroom I would try peel and stick wallpaper, definitely a lighter more coastal mirror, maybe some wood shelves.

I use to enjoy cleaning! Now I’m 55 and I just dread it. I still do it because I love a clean home but it’s a real struggle now. 😢. Btw I have the same pantry your parents do (it’s small) and I used everything you used in theirs and to this day it works great!!!

I try and get washing done during the week, and then clean the house on weekends as I work full time so it’s the only time I can get it done. I do clean the kitchen daily but rest is weekly. (I get spring cleaning done during school holidays which for me is every 10weeks for two weeks break, then Christmas is 6 weeks if that makes sense 😂)

Hey! Sorry for the upload issues yesterday! Last week my mom did something you did a couple of summers ago. She couldn’t figure out why her suv started smelling… she accidentally left a half gallon of milk in the back when she got groceries! It fell between the trunk space and crevice of the back seat.

Hi Jamie thinking on everything you said about that little bathroom. Paint. Do the paint first. I think it will all fall into place once you change the colour. Paint is less expensive than all other changes if you do it yourself. 😀🇦🇺
