  • This video has been made to show, IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, how to quickly replace those water pump seals and bearing, if needed.
Also, the seals can be purchased not necessarily from ktm.
Check the integrity and the quality of the seals, before fitting those.

Great that you caught this, how many miles on your 1190?

Has anyone figured out a nice way to remove the inner needle bearing race from the balance shaft? I'd like to replace the whole bearing.

Not without removing the whole thing…

What's up buddy? Hope things are good. Do you know what caused the failure?

Thanks for the video. Just wondering if the seal can leak in the opposite direction and have oil land up in the cooling system as I have on my 1290 adventure. The head gasket appears good from the compression and leakage test that has been done.

Mmm good question. I never heard of this case though. Always somehow from the outside in. This issue happens usually every 70-80k km so it s not as frequent as it seems. Thanks for the feedback!!

U didn't put the bike upfront 45° to make sure rear cylinder is filled?

Whats the torque amount on the bolts? Did you put a new gasket on the water pump And liquid gasket? Or old gasket plus liquid gasket?

Ah mate, about the torque you gotta see the ktm manual that comes with the bike. All measures are there. Easy to find online.
I only used liquid gasket after the job. It works just fine

Thanks for the video Paulo can you tell how you realise you had to change the seal?

hello Marcelo. Just open the oil cap on the left side of the bike. If you see some white "cream" deposited on the sides of the black rubber hose, it means that water/radiator fluid is getting inside the engine block and it's evaporating, creating this kind of condensation on the top of the engine.
This usually happens around the 70-80000 km anyway.

I see from your tyre UA-cam post that you covered over 200k km on your 1190. Please can you let us know how the reliability was, and what went wrong?

Of course! my 1190 was literally what draw me to love KTM motorcylces. I never had an issue with it ! I had to replace the oil sensor at 140000km and that's it in terms of mechanical errors. the bike was truly flawless. |I serviced the bike regularly and after the first 40000km i did it myself, whenever I could.
what fails usually are rubber seals, which is normal wear and tear.

      Grazie Paolo, ti seguo sempre
